This is very clever! I think it would be even better if I'd been watching the show, but I love reimaginings like this - making something plausible and compelling out of what we get on the show. You did a great job integrating the show's dialogue (which is admittedly rather clunky) into the more graceful prose of your story.

I'm so happy you were able to enjoy this piece despite its alluding to a storyline you aren't familiar with. And I agree; one of the best things about writing and reading fanfic is reinventing those things which make no sense at all on the show- especially those which are particularly unsatisfying. I know there are a lot of people who got enthused when the Chlollie happened, but I wasn't one of them. And the only way I could put up with it and mainly with a Lexless SV was to come up with a crazy theory, which didn't sound/look so crazy as time went by.

Oh, yes, I know what you mean! SV's dialogues can be so ridiculous at times.

I've read this before, on LJ, and still love it! I wish there was more...I'd love to see her reaction. Also, would you go with canon Chlollie on the show (with Lex disguised as Oliver) or deviate into your own universe? Love this idea. I'm an Oliver/Chlollie fan, but this idea is sooo good.

I very much doubt I'd be able to write a whole fic with Oliver even if he were in reality Lex in disguise. LOL. I did however start drafting a fic with a Lex/Jimmy swapping because, for a long time, I believed the photographer was Lex in Season 8- several lines he was fed and his mannerisms, especially in Committed, cemented my crazy theory.

Although I don't believe James Olsen was the man for Chloe, I don't have the negative feelings towards him I entertain for Oliver.In other words, I'm open to writing a whole fic with Lex!Jimmy but not a multi-chaptered one with Lex!Oliver. Poor Lex! I love him too much to have him wake up every day for months to see his oldest enemy in the looking glass. LOL Not that seeing Jimmy would be that great, but you get my drill.

I wanted to let you know that if you've read and enjoyed this one, I've just posted a sequel inspired on Chloe's send-off in Fortune.

I'd been toying with the idea of writing a follow-up to my interpretation of last season’s Warrior and the minute I watched Chloe's farewell scene in Fortune I knew now was the right time to do it. The fic is a short one-shot called "The Last Ace" (Fortune Revisited) where I put my own spin on the episode and Chloe's arc.
