    Hidden in the Shadows Chapter 7 10/1/06 SV/SN (PG-13/R)

    Notes: Oh look at all the new readers. Thanks for your interest in the story. Here is the next part.

    Chapter 7 Gift

    Chloe let the truth sink into her mind. Her mother could see things no one else could and it looked as if she could as well.

    “The pain, please help me.” The pale woman called out to her again.

    As Chloe turned to look at her again she wanted it not to be true, repeated to herself before she was fully facing the pale woman in the corner that she didn’t have the sight. Her mother was the one that went crazy because of her so called gift. Chloe wasn’t about to succumb to her mother’s fate.

    Once she was facing the sound of the voice Chloe was greeted by the woman’s hands extending out to her and repeating her plea. “Please help me.”

    “She’s not there?” Chloe moved away from the corner and tried to run for the open door but Sam closed it. Lex moved in front of her blocking her way. “Move Lex.”

    “It’s okay Chloe.” Lex gripped her arm, keeping her from moving on.

    “It’s not okay.” Chloe tried to push pass him but he held her tighter. She wanted out of that space; out of the hospital. “I’m seeing things Lex, things are far from okay.”

    “Chloe you can’t just leave. This is what your mother passed down to you. If someone is in here…” Sam tried to tell her what to do but Chloe didn’t want to hear it.

    “Don’t!” She interrupted him yelling loud enough for the entire hospital to hear. “I’m not like her. I’m nothing like my mother.”

    ”The pain won’t go away.” The pale woman’s voice grew louder behind her.

    This wasn’t going to happen to her because she didn’t have any gift. “Shut up; you’re not there.” Chloe yelled behind her.

    Turning back to Lex, Chloe noticed he was looking at her the way she didn’t want to see. He was looking at her in way that she never wanted to consider. Lex thought she was crazy, as crazy as her mother.

    “Don’t look at me that way…like I’m crazy.” Chloe pushed Lex away from her. She pushed him so hard Chloe could feel the strain on the stitches on her hand. “I’m not crazy like her.”

    She pushed passed Lex only to be greeted by Dean waiting behind him. “No one said you’re crazy.” He wasn’t looking at her like Lex was but his eyes were lowered and he look concerned. “If you see something we believe you. Right Sammy? Right Lex.?”

    Chloe looked back to Lex and his hands were fisted at his side, his eyes were wide. “Of course I believe you Chloe.” It looked as if he was lying, it sounded like he was lying. In all her time she’d known Lex he hadn’t lied to her, he never sugar coated anything for her but just now he had.

    “I believe you too Chloe. If you say you see someone then they’re there.” Chloe turned to face Sam once he spoke and he was still blocking the door.

    “I just want the pain to stop.” The pale woman’s voice seemed to be every where in the hospital room.

    Chloe covered her ears. “Stop it!” She shouted out again.

    Dean put his hands on her arms pulling them away from her ears, forcing her to hear the woman’s voice again. “Tell me what the ghost said.”

    “There is no ghost Dean.” Chloe felt the tears starting to drop down her cheeks. There was no one in the room but Sam, Dean and Lex but the woman’s voice wasn’t going away no matter how hard she tried to push her away.

    “Don’t make her do this.” Lex shoved Dean back away from her. “She doesn’t want to do this now.” Lex was in between her and Dean then they started what they did best. The staring match had begun and they both started yelling about what was best for her.

    Sam moved toward them and tried to break them up but Chloe couldn’t hear them because the woman she wanted gone was touching her. The icy touch at her shoulder took her attention away from the boys and back to her gift.

    Without making a sound Chloe breathed out and saw her breath carry across the room. She turned around to the feel of the woman’s hand on her shoulder. “What do you want?” Chloe pushed back her tears, taking the first step to embracing her gift.

    “Make the pain go away..” The woman moved her hand away from her. “I have been asking for years and no one sees me.”

    Chloe swallowed hard and was preparing herself to talk to the ghost. She could fight and try to suppress it but no matter how hard she screamed this woman wasn’t going away.

    “What was wrong with you?” Her voice was shy and timid and after everything that had happen it was amazing she was still standing.

    “Was?” The woman questioned and looked around her as if she was realizing that the place she was in wasn’t the one she remembered.

    The faint sound of the boys yelling behind her stopped. She studied the woman and saw she was in her late thirties, she and long brown hair and was wearing a hospital gown. Chloe didn’t want to believe she was seeing her but the woman was so clear.

    “Yes, was…you’re…” Chloe had to tell her. It was impossible to tell her the truth; that she was dead and may have died in the very room they were in but there was nothing else she could do. If this was her gift then Chloe was going to help the woman move on so she could do the same. “The reason no one can see you, the reason no one can hear you is because you’re dead.” She finished and waited to gauge the pale woman’s reaction.

    The woman’s eyes widen and her eyes started racing. “No, I went to sleep then everyone was gone. I have been in so much pain for so long how can I be dead? They said I had a month it’s only been a day. I keep living the same day. I wake up in bed and then I try to ask for help but no one hears me. My husband wouldn’t leave my side unless I was…” The woman paused and discovered the truth.

    The story was starting to make sense. The woman must have died in her sleep but didn’t let go. This was so new for Chloe and she didn’t know what to do now. She just wanted the woman to go away at first, she wanted to convince herself that she wouldn’t end up in the same place her mother was in but, if she didn’t embrace her gift, she would never be able to control it and one day she might go insane because of it.

    “I understand you’re hurting.” Chloe started and moved closer to the woman, her hand reached out to her as it did before and she took her cold hand in her own. “But you don’t have to hurt anymore.”

    “I want the pain to go away. I still have a month, I know it.” The woman insisted.

    Chloe squeezed her icy hand and focused on her eyes. “I’m sorry but I think it has been much longer then that. When you died you didn’t let go but you can now. The pain will go away if you just let it.”

    “You can stop the pain?” The woman’s hand tightened around Chloe’s.

    Chloe didn’t know anything until she started reading her mother’ books. A ghost holds on to something for what ever reason and this woman was holding on to something and wouldn’t let it go. The pale woman believed her husband was waiting and using the pain she felt before she died to keep her in this world.

    “I can’t make the pain stop but you can. You said it yourself, your husband wouldn’t leave unless you were dead and I don’t think he would want you to hurt anymore. I think he left knowing you weren’t in anymore pain. You can let it go anytime you’re ready.” She let her hand go and took a step back away from her. “Just believe that the pain is gone and you won’t feel it anymore.”

    The pale woman backed away from Chloe towards the corner she was in when she first saw her. Her eyes fell shut then the chill in the room started to slowly fade away. Chloe blinked and when her eyes opened again the woman was gone.

    She did it, the woman had moved on.

    There was no feeling of her in the room anymore and the cold was replaced with the warmth she felt when she first woke up. The tears started coming from her eyes slowly as she turned to the boys.

    The three of them were standing, staring at Chloe as if they didn’t know her. “She’s gone.” Chloe said to them.

    The next thing Chloe did was the only thing she felt would keep her from finally falling apart. She rushed into Lex’s body and her arms went around him, her tears turned into harsh sobs and she let it all go in his chest.

    Lex didn’t push her away and his body wasn’t as tense as it was before when they hugged. A hand moved down the back of her hair and she felt him pull her closer to him with his other arms.

    “Its okay, I have you.” His voice was low and it was what she wanted to hear. She needed someone to be there, to be solid and to hold her together.

    ~~~~)~~~~(~~~~
    After crying for what seemed like hours Chloe wanted out of the hospital. She didn’t want the chance to run in to another ghost at the hospital. Lex made it so and the doctor let her leave. It was only a hand injury but there was so much the doctors would never know about what really happened.
    She didn’t want to go home for fear of Jun coming after her father. Jun looked to be after her family and she didn’t want her father to be dragged into this because of her. Lex offered her a place at the manor and Chloe took the offer without pause.
    Sam and Dean came back to the manor and wanted to continue the search through her mother’s books for Jun’s story. Sam wanted to talk to Chloe about the woman in the hospital. He wanted to tell her all about her gift but Chloe didn’t want to hear it. She needed some time and told him the talk could wait.
    On the way back to the manor Dean gave her the space she needed. Dean was tossed across the room but he acted as if he was okay. Once she turned down Sam’s offer, Dean had to know she needed a break from the paranormal world. They allowed her to take the rest of the night off and promised to find the information on Jun.
    It was late into the night almost becoming the day once they arrived at the manor and Chloe had pulled all niters but she never felt so exhausted. After leaving home Chloe didn’t plan ahead and didn’t have anything to change into. Lex provided her with some clothes he had in the manor. The satin pajamas had to be leftovers from someone woman but Lex assured her it was something no one had ever worn.
    The room that he escorted her into was bigger then any place she had stayed in but the most uncomfortable. The boys had left her alone to shower and change but Chloe didn’t want to be alone. She didn’t want Jun to come for her again. It was decided, after some talk, that Lex would watch over her.
    When she emerged from the bathroom in the satin pajamas Lex was sitting on the arm chair in the room facing out into the back gardens of the manor. “Lex.” She called getting his attention.
    “Are you feeling any better?” Lex turned in the seat and got up to move towards her closing the bathroom door. His face wasn’t what it was in the hospital but the tender, look he’d been giving her the past few weeks had returned.
    “I guess as good as I’m going to get without any sleep.” Chloe tried to keep her wits about her but she felt like crying again.
    “I should leave so you can get some sleep then. I can help Sam and Dean with the books.” Lex turned towards the door leaving the room but it wasn’t what she wanted. If Chloe closed her eyes Jun would be there. Sleep was the last thing on her mind.
    Chloe stumbled over to him; her bare feet patted across the throw rug in the room. Once he was in arms reach she grabbed him before he could get to the door. “Can you stay and talk to me. I understand if you’re tired and want to go but I won’t be able to sleep feeling like this.”
    He gave her the slightest grin. “If that’s what you need then I will stay.”
    Breathing out deeply, Chloe moved to the plush bed in the room and took a seat at the edge of it. Lex followed after her and took the seat next to her. In that moment Chloe realized how awkward it would be for Lex to stay.
    Her hair was still damp from being towel dried. She had to have huge bags under her eyes and her face had to be puffy from crying. Without thinking about it Chloe took off her bra. The chill in the room would affect her body in a way she didn’t want Lex to see. When she looked at him, his eyes had settled on the painting hanging in the room adjacent to the bed and her appearance didn’t seem to affect him.
    “Do you want to talk about what happened at the hospital?” Lex questioned her keeping his eyes fixed on the abstract painting.
    “No, I’m not really sure where to even start.” Chloe stared at the painting as well and let her mind wonder how she got where she was that night. Her hand was in a bit of pain but it reminded her of how close she came to cutting her own throat.
    The memory of the kitchen brought her back to Lex’s words getting her out of the trance she was in. He called her love. That was something much easier to talk about.
    “How did you know I was in the kitchen?” Chloe turned to look at him and he did the same.
    Lex changed out of the shirt he was in from the hospital because Chloe had cried so hard on it he had to change. He looked fresh and rested even though he had to have less sleep then her. His eyes lowered and it was as if he didn’t want to say how. “I came back and you were…” He paused and moved away from her. Before Lex seemed fine but something was bothering him. “It doesn’t matter what I saw but I heard you screaming and I ran to the kitchen.”
    Chloe tried to think of where she was when Lex came back to the manor but she didn’t see him until he was shaking her back to life in the kitchen. There was only one place she could have been and not seen him and that was half drunk flirting with Dean on the pool table.
    “You had to be close by if you knew I was in the kitchen.” Chloe spoke to him; his back was to her.
    “I was going to come into the study but I didn’t want to interrupt you.” She watched his shoulders tighten and his hands close into a fist.
    It was just like on the plane when Dean was acting as if he was going to kiss her. His jealousy was surfacing again. Chloe knew what it would look like if someone was standing behind her at the study door. It would look as if they were all over each other.
    “Lex you wouldn’t have interrupted anything.” Chloe watched and wanted him to turn back to her and when he did he looked clouded with confusion.
    “You mean to tell me that you and Dean weren’t sampling my scotch and making out on my pool table?” The question was harsh. Lex turned fully and peered at her waiting for an answer.
    It was as if he wanted Chloe to feel like she did something wrong. Since their reunion, Lex had dropped so many hints that there was something deeper inside of him, something waiting at the surface only second away from showing it self and now it finally had.
    Chloe had placed his jealousy as an older brother watching out for his little sister since that was the way she had been treated by Clark for so long but Lex’s action had little to do with brotherly love. His fist had opened and closed waiting for her answer. The sound of his voice, stern and infuriated, was one she never heard. As the seconds ticked by for her to answer Lex moved closer to her and was almost breathing down over her as he did.
    In a flash it all became so clear. Lex hadn’t spoken to her in months. He may have given her the gift of bringing her mother back into her life but that didn’t fix anything. Even if he was trying to make amends for the day of the meteor shower it didn’t give him the right to stand there as if she had done something wrong. There were no claims between the two of them and after everything Chloe had been through that day she didn’t deserve to be spoken to in this way. It didn’t matter if he said he cared for her or how many times he called her love, he didn’t have the right.
    “I may have sampled the scotch as you put it but I wasn’t making out with anyone and if I was it would be none of your business. You saw it fit to remove yourself from my life and now that you’re back in it doesn’t give you the right to judge what I do and don’t do.” Chloe had moved right into his personal space as she spoke closing the tiny gap between them.
    “I’m not judging.” His eyes shifted down to her and she could see him taking in what she said as the truth. “I’m only worried about the choices you’re making when it comes to him. He’s reckless and careless and will be gone once all of this is over. I’ll still be here when it’s over and if it’s never over…” He paused then took a step back. It was as if he knew he said too much and wanted to back off but not this time.
    It was never the right time and now that Chloe was seeing ghosts it may never be the right time to talk about what was going on. The strange looks, his jealous act on the plane and pulling away from her hug when they arrived in Smallvile had to be talked about.
    “Say what you were going to say.” Chloe moved back not wanting him to get to far away from what was happening.
    “I was going to say that if this is never over I’ll still be here and he won’t. I’ll still be here and what happened at the hospital will only become worse for you. You could end up some where I never intended you to be and it will be my fault.” Lex was speaking to her as he did before. His voice had softened and his anger had faded away.
    “Is that what you think?” Chloe squinted her eyes; studying him. “You think I’ll end up like my mother and it will be your fault.”
    He nodded as the word came from him almost in a whisper. “Yes.” The pained look in his eyes was so clear to that before she mistook it for anger.
    “You’re wrong.” Her hand reached out for his and she twined her fingers around him until he moved to grasp her palm. “Finding my mother is the greatest gift you could have given me.”
    “But it’s brought all the things that come with it.” His grip tightened as he pulled Chloe closer to him. “I can handle problems. There is always a way for me to handle things but I’m not Dean. I don’t understand what’s happening to you and there is nothing I can do to stop you from getting hurt again.”
    “Maybe I don’t need you to do everything like Dean. Maybe I need you to be you and that will help me.”
    “Are you sure that’s enough?”
    “I won’t lie to you Lex, I’m scared…terrified of what will happen the next time Jun comes back or the next time I see a random dead person.” Chloe pulled her hand away and turned her back to him prepared to admit the truth. “But it wasn’t the first time I’ve seen a ghost.”
    While in the shower Chloe allowed herself to feel what she felt in hospital and knew it wasn’t the first time. She saw something before she could never explain, heard something that when she turned around to see what it was, it was gone and dreamt dreams that were like horror movies. All this time there was a reason or excuse as to what happened but now it was very apparent what she didn’t want to be true.
    She was always a seer but didn’t know what it meant until she found her mother.
    Taking in a long breathe of air then closing her eyes Chloe could feel Lex behind her. He was so close the heat from his body was radiating against her back. The thought of what she knew was now true made Chloe shudder and Lex being so close behind she knew he had to see it. He was standing there as if he wanted to comfort her.
    “Do you want to talk about it?” His voice just behind her was low but she could hear him so clearly it was like he was right at her ear.
    Turning towards him slowly her suspicion about his location was correct. Lex was right on top of her and his eyes seemed to be lost as to what was the right thing to do. Chloe just stared at him for a moment and was at lost as well. At the hospital she did what felt right but now it all seemed so awkward.
    “Go ahead.” Chloe choked out the words and wasn’t sure if she was right or just assuming Lex’s intentions but after she spoke his hand reached out to her.
    His fingers push back the strands of blonde damp hair covering her face then his hand was covering hers. It was solid, warm and one of softest things Chloe ever felt against her skin. “You can tell me if you feel up to it.” She heard him sigh as his hands moved to brush over her cheek. The sound was so faint but he was enjoying this just as much as Chloe was.
    It wasn’t like Dean touching because he was sure of what was happening. Dean’s emotions were easy to read. He was attracted to her and wanted her to know it but with Lex everything was twisted into so much angst between them over the past few years it was impossible to tell if the touch was for her comfort or for his own at being lost as to how to help her.
    Not saying anything for a few moments, Chloe just wanted to stand as she was. Lex’s hand on her and his eyes looking down at her with so much compassion she felt her stomach tighten and her mind start to wonder as to how far things could go before he pulled away again.
    As the thought crossed her mind Lex was retreating, his hand pulled away slowly. “I understand if you don’t want to tell me. I should go.” He turned on his heels and once again he was running away from her.
    “Wait.” Chloe called. “I want to talk about it.” It was the truth that she needed to tell someone but she didn’t want him running away again.
    She watched him go through the emotions; his shoulders were tense just seconds from the door and then they relaxed when she spoke. Just as quickly as he turned away he was turning back. “We should sit.” He motioned his hand towards their original position on the bed.
    Chloe moved ahead of him and took her seat then Lex sat back with her on the edge of the plush bed. “I think I was eight the first time.”
    “Eight?” Lex mumbled.
    “Yes, I never knew what it meant until now.” Chloe keep her eyes away from him as she recalled the memory. It was one she thought was long buried but had surfaced while in the shower. “I use to have an imagery friend.”
    “I don’t think that’s anything out of the ordinary.”
    Keeping her head forward Chloe didn’t want the sound and somber look on Lex to keep her from getting out the rest of what she wanted to say. “That’s what I thought. I remember playing with her and talking to her for hours if I couldn’t get to sleep.”
    “Why are you so sure that this girl was a…ghost?” He hesitated on the word ghost and the idea had to difficult for him to process. Chloe wasn’t sure how she looked as she spoke but it couldn’t be good because Lex was reaching over her clasping her left hand that was resting in her lap.
    “One day I was playing with her and my father came into the room and saw what I was doing. I was engrossed in what I was doing and it took me awhile to notice he was in the room. He was staring at me and I never saw my father look so terrified.” Chloe felt the start of tears and didn’t think she had anymore left after crying so much at the hospital. The sound of sniffles made Lex tighten his hand.
    “He picked me up from the bed and he shook me. He kept asking who I was talking to and I explained. I told him it was my friend, that I only saw her when we were home and we were best friends. I told him sometimes it was cold in the room when she was upset about the game we played. I told him everything but he didn’t want to hear it.” Chloe could feel her father’s hands on her tiny shoulders squeezing the truth out of her. Her eyes were over flowing and there was nothing she could do to stop it.
    Lex moved his hand away and placed his arms around her. Chloe didn’t hesitate to throw herself into his chest. Allowing herself to cry for a moment she tried to finish the story moving away from the warmth of Lex’s chest. “He told me she wasn’t there and that I should stop thinking about her as if she was real.”
    “Did you do what your father wanted?” He spoke looking down on her as she was looking up.
    “I didn’t have to.” Pushing back from him to get a better view Chloe continued. “We moved. I know now why we moved in such a hurry; I know why my father was so upset with me. He didn’t want me to be like my mother. Later on when we were moved into a new place he told me that if I saw anything again I should tell him immediately.”
    While she spoke Chloe didn’t notice Lex’s hand moving though her hair and stroking over her back. She stopped talking to look at him. Her hand was hurt but she could still use it to stroke his back and then she noticed that she was teasing the base of skull with the finger tips of her other hand.
    “He was trying to protect you. Your father wanted to keep his promise.”
    “If this seeing dead people is such a gift then why did my father hide it from me.” Her hands didn’t move away but something else other then what she was sharing was happening.
    “You heard your father.” He paused then brushed back the tears on her cheeks. “He made a promise to your mother and was just doing the best he could to make good on that promise. It may be a gift but not one an eight old should have to deal with.”
    “What about you Lex?” The tears had faded but Lex’s hands on her were doing something. They were pushing the limits of friendly caressing. Her belly tightened as he looked at her and her mind was reeling over how this moment would turn out. Hopefully it wouldn’t be him running away again.
    “What about me?” Lex’s arms pulled her body closer to him until her hip was resting right next to leg.
    “Do you want to protect me from this gift like you did in the hospital?” Chloe could still see him standing in between her and Dean doing what her father asked him to do.
    His lips pressed themselves into to a tight line as he thought of his answers. “I don’t think you can ignore it. If you can learn to understand what it means to be a seer then you can have control over it.”
    As he spoke Chloe thought to how they looked sitting in the bed in an embrace. Her legs were so close to straddling him, her hands couldn’t stop touching him and at some point she felt her nipples point out into stiff peaks as they brushed against him.
    “Lex” Chloe paused to hear him answer her while biting down on her lip to keep her from rushing the moment.
    “Hmmm…” His eyebrows rose then she heard the hum rumble in his throat.
    Chloe let her head tilt back some to get a full view of his face; he was blushing. His cheeks were almost a rosy color. She didn’t want to ask but what he said in the kitchen had to be mentioned “Did you call me love?”
    Giving her the slightest grin, his hands didn’t part from her body but he shifted until his head lowered down to her lips. Licking over her mouth quickly Chloe was greeted by his pressing into her. He was answering her question in a way that calmed the growing tension inside of her.
    Giving into what had started a year ago Chloe let Lex kiss her. She let his warm tongue move into her mouth and his hands tighten on her. This kept her from getting too far away and let herself admit this was what she wanted from him. The reason she felt so hurt about what had happened to their friendship last year, about what he’d done to her in the caves.
    The past few weeks Chloe was starting to understand what Lex meant by caring about her and everything he seemed to be bottling was coming out in the long kiss they were sharing.
    This time Lex wasn’t the one stopping but the sound of the door being throw open was. They both jerked away from each other as if they were caught. When Chloe looked to the door Dean was standing there, she wasn’t sure if he was upset or looking at her like he wanted to say I told you so but what he did say was all business.
    “We found Jun’s location in Moria’s books.” He stepped out of the room with that closing the door behind him.
    Swallowing hard Chloe knew this was it. Jun was found and it was time to get rid of her.
    Great update!!! I feel sort of sorry for Jun now because she hadn't realized that she was dead. Glad that Lex & Chloe kissed but now they have to get their act together & send Jun off so Chloe can move on with her life.
    Excellent chapter!
    That was quite a twist involving Jun, and the kiss was great, but I think we need more Chlexy goodness
    Hmm.... Maybe I wasn't to clear in this chapter with what Chloe was seeing in the hospital.
    The ghost in the hospital was not intended to be Jun. It was just a random ghost Chloe ran into while being treated at the hospital. Sorry if it wasn’t clear. The idea was to start displaying Chloe's abilities as a seer and that she can see any ghost not just the one driving her mother crazy and now trying to do the same to her.
    Chloe seeing the random pale woman was just like her seeing a ghost when she was a little girl and then becoming playmates with the dead girl. Second to that Jun would appear as she has the past few times in the dark and bleeding. The Jun appearances have a pattern that I’m trying to display and will be explained in the coming chapters.
    I hope this clears up some of the confusion before anyone else looks at the chapter.
    Thank you lj and kit for your feedback.
    Letia, now I feel bad because I thought Jun was Chloe's imaginary friend, and I thought that was another reason Gabe was scared.
    Boy do I feel dumb!
    And I also feel the need to share: I had an imaginary friend when I was a child. Now I'm wondering: was it a ghost?!
    Hidden in the Shadows Chapter 8 10/17/06 SV/SN (PG-13/R)
    Notes: If we are in the ghost world that Chloe can only see then things are in italics.
    Chapter 8 Lost Little Girl
    For some reason it all seemed too easy. When Dean told Chloe he found Jun she knew it was time to get rid of her but standing over a grave in a town smaller than Smallville it all seemed far too easy. Chloe watched as all three of the men working hard to unveil Jun’s body.
    Sam and Dean did locate Jun’s whereabouts from her mother’s books. Moira explained as much as she could about her dream of Jun. Moira knew that Jun was seventeen and she was murder. Somehow her mother located her whereabouts but never made it to the point they were at now in the cemetery. The details of the murder were included in Moira ’s notes but there was lot about Jun chasing her and her mother’s words reminded her of the things Dr. Burdick showed her. Chloe knew all the feelings her mother felt in her dream because she felt them too.
    Jun’s story was the last entry because all of the books everyone had gone through were full and that book was no where near being complete.
    Chloe was clutching her mother’s book with all the information in it about Jun that Sam and Dean found. As she stood over Jun Tyler’s grave it was all too easy.
    “So you just burn her bones?” Chloe directed her question to Dean or Sam.
    “Yes, we salt them first then burn the bones and that should get rid of her.” Sam answered taking a break from digging.
    After sleeping a few hours everything was so easy when she woke. After Dean ran off Lex followed him. There was no keeping him from leaving but Lex did come back and told her he made plans with them to leave once she’d gotten some kind of rest; rest Chloe didn’t want.
    The kiss she shared with Lex was so perfect but she could see him retreating on her until Chloe took things another step forward. She asked him to stay with her while she slept. Lex was going to make himself comfortable on the arm chair in the room but that’s not what she meant. When she told him to get in the bed with her there was some hesitation but eventually Lex was kicked off his shoes then got into bed.
    She wasn’t asking them to do anything else that night. The kiss was enough at the moment for her to know Lex cared about her. Lex moved into the bed after her and did exactly what Chloe wanted without her having to ask for it and he pulled her body closer to him until she was resting on his chest. The warmth of his body and the steady beat of his heart put Chloe in to a much needed sleep.
    The last thing she felt before sleeping was Lex’s hand sweeping down her hair down her back and when she woke his hand was resting firmly on the curve of butt. Lex was still sound asleep and Chloe didn’t just want to move and make him realize he was holding her instead she pretended to be asleep and allowed him to sleep away as if she didn’t notice.
    When he finally woke up Chloe felt him slip her from over him and sneak out of the room to leave her alone. After the kiss she thought maybe they could talk about what was going on with them both but Lex just retreated again.
    That night Chloe didn’t have a nightmare about Jun and slept for a change so she was ready for what that day would hold. The drive took about an hour and riding in Dean’s car allowed for little comfort. Lex sat with her in the back complaining the entire ride.
    It was hard to believe that Jun’s life ended the way it did in the papers Sam found on her. Her parents found her dead in her room and there was never any cause of death or autopsy report explaining if she killed herself or if she was murdered. Her mother said she was murdered the papers said nothing. It was all so vague and as they stood there preparing to open up her coffin it was all too easy.
    Dean had his hands on the latch of top of the coffin. Lex had moved from out of the pit and was standing next to her. Sam had made his move to retrieve the salt and gasoline to start the fire. Everything was happening and it all seemed at its end but Chloe felt a twinge in her back, the hairs on her arms started to rise and she felt her belly clench.
    “She’s not in there.” Chloe mumbled but didn’t think anyone heard her.
    “What did you say?” Dean turned away from the coffin to look at her. They didn’t talk about what he saw and now that it was closer to being over they may never talk about it.
    Chloe snapped out of the state she was in and looked to Lex. “She’s not in there.”
    “Are you sure?” He was covered in dirt; Chloe never saw him so disheveled. Right now he was so unfamiliar with dirt under his nails and smudges all over his bald head.
    “I know she’s not in there.” Chloe didn’t know why but there was something too easy about everything that was happening.
    “Open it Dean.” Sam was at the foot of grave looking down waiting to see if what she believed was true.
    Dean turned to the coffin and lifted the top off and exposed the white bedding underneath but there was no body resting in the folds of it.
    Chloe backed away from them.
    It was all just too easy.
    “Now what do we do?” Chloe turned to each of the men looking for an answer and they had none “What are we going to do?” Chloe repeated hoping someone would say something.
    “We have to go to her house.” Dean crawled out of the grave.
    “What will that do?” Chloe questioned.
    “We didn’t want to do this.” Sam started and turned to look away from the grave towards her. “But we think you can see what happen to Jun if we go to her house.”
    “What?” Chloe eyes widened a little and she backed away more.
    “How is that going to help us?” Lex jumped into the middle, trying to stand up for her.
    Sam moved closer to her covered in as much dirt as Lex. “The papers said Jun’s body was found in her room. If Chloe were to go in the room maybe she could see something about how she really died, maybe even where her body really is.”
    Dean leaped out of the grave disagreeing with his brother’s suggestion. “We can play this another way. It will be faster if you can get a read off of something in the house but you don’t have to put yourself through more if you’re not ready.”
    Looking away from the brothers giving her options as to what would happen next, Chloe thought of her gift and what Lex told her. If she could learn to use her gift she could control it. Her eyes closed and she thought of her mother sitting alone in the asylum waiting for her to help her. Chloe didn’t want to feel as lost as she did but it was time she came into this with everything she had and that included her new found gifts as a seer.
    “Okay.” She answered firmly then started to move back towards the Impala.
    Before she could get too far away an arm was wrapping around hers. “Chloe you don’t have to do this.” She turned to focus on Lex who looked concerned. “You heard Dean, they can find her another way.”
    “I know but this will never be over if I don’t do this.” She put her left hand over his holding on to her. “Nothing is easy for us, is it?”
    The boys took a few moments to clean up after making a mess of themselves in a local hotel. The small town of Everett only had one hotel to stay in and the downtown area it was located in held five main buildings.
    While Lex and Dean took there time Chloe was leaning against the back of the Impala looking at the near empty town before her. A few people moved up the streets and as she gazed at them Chloe didn’t notice Sam coming up next to her.
    “How are you holding up?” His voice sounded behind.
    Turning around to greet him with a warm smile Chloe thought about the question for a moment. “I guess as good as one can be about to go do a psychic reading off the house of the dead woman out to kill them.”
    “Its good you can keep your sense of humor.” Sam chuckled a little taking up the empty space next to her on the back of the car. After they shared a laugh Sam’s demeanor changed and he admitted something Chloe was expecting. “I know how it feels to have something inside you can’t control.”
    Chloe’s brow furrowed and she looked to him looking away from her. “What you saying Sam? You’re a seer?”
    “No not exactly.” He paused clearing his throat as if what he had to say was too difficult. “I have visions and let me tell you they hurt like hell but its nothing like being a seer.”
    Chloe wasn’t sure if he was telling her this so she wouldn’t be scared but it was helping to hear she wasn’t the only one. “So you’re clairvoyant?”
    “That’s one way of putting it. I can’t see what this week’s jack pot will be for the lottery but I have seen how someone dies, I’ve felt it and it’s terrifying not being able to control it yet.” He turned to her leaning against the car. “If you don’t want to do this today you don’t have to. You have been through a lot the past few days and I know the feeling of being forced into something you don’t want to do.”
    Chloe reached a hand to his resting on the car as a sign of thanks. “Thanks for sharing that with me. I’m terrified of what will happen but I have to do this if not for me but for my mother.”
    He smiled at her warmly and they shared a nice moment out by the car. When they were little Chloe could see why they got along as well as her father said.
    “I just want to warn you not to fight what you feel when we get to the house. I fought my gift and I lost someone I loved very much because of it.” Sam finished with those few words and Chloe didn’t get a chance to ask him to elaborate on what he meant because Dean was interrupting him.
    “If you’re done with share time we are ready to go.”
    Chloe turned to find Dean and Lex exiting the hotel; it was time to go find out what happened to poor Jun.
    ~~~~)~~~~(~~~~

    They were in the middle of nowhere and driving up to the Tyler’s old residence. The place was abandon after Randal Tyler passed away. He was a widower and his other child moved away after the mother died. The word in town was the house wasn’t to be touched after Randal’s death; talk of a haunted house was spoken but no one ever admitted to seeing anything first hand.

    The car stopped and, stepping out in front of the old run down farm, Chloe wasn’t sure she was ready to go in but it didn’t matter. She had to go in the house and learn the truth so they could find Jun’s body.

    Dean and Sam stepped out first and moved towards the back of the Impala. She joined them with Lex at her side and watched them pull out shot guns.

    “Do you really need those?” Chloe was at a loss as to how bullets were going to stop a ghost but they were the experts.

    “We are loading them with rock salt, not bullets.” Dean answered sliding in two shells before slamming the gun shut.

    “I think the question still stands as to how effective shooting a ghost will be.” Lex spoke up standing next to Sam who was taking the gun Dean loaded.

    “Rock salt hurts ghosts.” Sam answered before Dean could make a snide remark.

    Dean picked up a second gun from the truck and loaded that one as well. He held it out to Lex. “You think you can handle one of these?”

    Lex snatched the weapon from him staring him down. All the way to Everett, Lex and Dean had been at each others throats more than when they first met. “It’s not me I would worry about.” Lex grunted at him taking the weapon from him.

    Chloe had to stop things before they started. She was hunting a killer and they were about to fight over a gun. “What will it matter if I’m the only one that can see Jun, not to mention the last time she showed up Dean got knocked on his ass?”

    “Hey, it caught me off guard, it won’t happen again.” Dean defended himself without much effect.

    “Just point her out to us.” Sam answered her question shaking his head at his brother. “I’ll make sure Dean stays off his ass this time.” Dean turned on his brother’s words; glaring at him having a silent argument. Dean stopped the staring match and filled one last shot gun with the salt shells.

    “How is she finding me anyway?” Chloe didn’t really want to ask but she wanted to stall a little more before going in.

    “It has to be because your Moira ’s daughter. The ghost has been after her all this time and now you’re in the picture and its latching onto you because of who you are.” Sam explained but it made no sense. Everything was so foreign to her but she had to get used to it and trust that they knew what they were talking about.

    “Let’s go.” Dean finished the break they were having and banged the truck shut.

    The four of them slowly walked towards the main house of the farm as the sun was starting to set. If it wasn’t so worn down Chloe thought the place could be the Kent Farm. Dean kicked the door to the place open and it fell over on the floor. It seemed unnecessary but they were all on edge holding their guns at the ready. It just seemed like someone could get hurt with the guns in play.

    “We should head upstairs to see if we can’t find her room.” Dean directed a nod towards the stairway.

    “Right.” Sam agreed and made his way up the stairs first, followed by Dean.

    Standing in the worn living room, Chloe was starting to wonder if she could do what needed to be done next. Lex must have seen the worried look on her face and he took her hand into his.

    “You don’t have to do this.” He said looking at her with the same worried looked she had.

    “Yes, I do.” Chloe squeezed his hand to signal she was all right and Lex took the hint and lead them upstairs.

    On the second floor she saw the boys opening doors slowly as if they were police entering the rooms of armed criminals.

    “This one.” Sam shouted and entered the room.

    Chloe stood and watched Dean go after him and he looked at her clinging to Lex’s hand. The look in his eye was unreadable but it didn’t matter what he thought. Chloe needed Lex with her, he was the only one that understood what it was like not to have any of the answers unlike Sam and Dean.

    She let go of his hand and made her way towards the room. Passing the first door, she glanced in and saw the remains of what looked to be a little boy’s room. The next room she passed was the remnants of large bed in the room. When she was at the room the boys went into Chloe paused in the doorway to take in the scene.

    There was a twin bed against the wall and an old dresser held a figurine that looked like a ballerina. The air in the room was stale but the breeze from the broken window added the fragrance from the trees surrounding the farm.

    “In the shadows.” Chloe heard someone whisper and it couldn’t have been any of the boys.

    “Did you hear that?” She questioned.

    “Hear what?” Lex spoke behind her in the hallway.

    She moved further into the room with Sam to her right. “It has to be Jun. Let it happen don’t fight what she’s going to show you.”

    Chloe nodded once then looked to Dean, on her left, holding his gun steady and ready to shoot on her command. She moved into the room further and felt the cut on her hand starting to tingle. Her hand was doing well that morning but slowly it was starting to become very painful.

    “He can’t find me.” Chloe heard the whisper again and it was coming from the bed. It sounded as if the voice was hidden under the bed.

    Chloe moved towards the bed slowly making Sam side step out of her way. She moved the torn and worn comforter off the top and then something happen she had no control over.

    Chloe thought she was standing looking over the bed but once the comforter was moved she was under the bed. A man she had never seen before was searching for her and that man was the cause of Jun’s pain.

    “Get up girl!” The man’s voice yelled at her.

    “But I didn’t do it daddy.”
    Chloe answered him but she didn’t know why she said what she did. Something had a hold on her and the memories of the house were flowing through her.

    “I said get up girl.” The man’s voice grew louder.

    “Chloe are you all right?” Lex called out to her but Chloe didn’t hear him.

    She was cowering under the bed but now she was exposed when the entire mattress had been tossed to the side. “Please daddy don’t.” She murmured, Chloe was gone she was lost living Jun’s last moments.

    With her head held low she knew she was found as the collar of her dress was being grabbed by her father. Jun was dragged from the floor to her feet. She was tossed to one side of the room and fell to ground with a thud. Her heart was pounding and she wished she had prayed harder for God to keep her father from finding her hidden in the shadows under the bed. Jun wished the shadows she hid from her father protected her better but he would always find her.

    “Go out without my permission again girl?” Her father yelled moving towards her quickly.

    Before she didn’t see it but when Jun looked up to him she saw the knife he was carrying in his right hand. “Daddy, I’m sorry. Please don’t do this.” Jun knew the knife meant business that he was really drunk this time and furious with her.

    He pulled her up again with one hand and pressing her into the wall behind her. She screamed in pain feeling the sting from bruises he placed on her back days before.

    “I won’t let you go out ever again.” He said to her with his nostrils flared and fire coming from his mouth. The smell of whiskey also filled her senses and she knew it was his drink of choice.

    “I didn’t do anything. Please daddy.” Jun looked to the doorway at her mother with tears in her eyes. “Please momma. Please.” She reached a hand out to her but it was no use. Her mother did what she always did and stood and watched her little girl get beaten.

    Without warning Jun felt her father’s fist crunch down on her jaw and the blow knocked her back to ground. She spit blood on to the floor and it was a familiar sight.

    “You think that boy cares. He doesn’t” He put his hand on her hair and made her get on her knees pulling her by her long brown hair to make her do so. “I’ll make him stay away from you.”

    Jun didn’t think seeing Bobby would ever come out but her father knew she went to see him again. He always knew where she was.

    On her knees with blood dripping from her mouth she looked up and saw the knife coming down on the hair he was holding high in the air. Her right hand moved to try and stop the blade but he just sliced her palm opened.

    “Don’t you dare try to stop me!” He shouted swiping the knife back again this time taking her hair with him.

    Jun screamed looking at her hand dripping with blood while her hair was dropping to the ground. “I’m sorry.” She murmured knowing it was too late to appease him.

    “I’ll show you how sorry you are.” He stood her up again planting her to the wall. “You looked at her Tara. You see what your little girl made me do.” Her father shouted at the door way.

    “Noooo!!!” Was the last thing Jun heard from her mother before the blade dragged across her throat.

    The blood started to pour from her and her father released his grip on her and let her slump to floor slowly. She moved to hold her neck but it was no use, so much of it was on the floor pooling around her. Jun turned from her side to lie flat on her back while she bled out slowly.

    Chloe came back into the world she knew to be real; she was on the ground holding her neck. Her neck was burning and felt like blood was spilling all over her then suddenly it was over.

    “Chloe!” Lex called out to her; she looked over to see him being held back by Dean.

    “Let her be, its part of the gift.” Dean said struggling to keep Lex back.

    “Are you back?” She heard Sam’s voice and he was just above her out of her view until she turned her head.

    As she came to, lying on the ground in an instant, she saw it all so clear as to what happen next after Jun’s father used the knife on her neck. Without taking notice of the boys running right after her as she sprung to her feet to rush to Jun’s body.

    Down the stairs and out the back door Chloe knew exactly where she was going. She was taking the same path Jun’s father took when he took to the back of house. There was huge tree off set from the house and what Chloe sought out to find.

    “Chloe please tell us.” She heard Lex’s voice behind her and she did her best to answer.

    “She’s here.” Chloe mutter starting to cry. “Her father sliced her throat then took her here.” Chloe could still feel the pain on her neck, the burning of the blade slicing her skin.

    “Chloe what do you mean she’s here?” Sam’s voice was what she heard next.

    “He was angry with her…drunk.” Chloe mumbled seeing it all in her mind feeling the fear Jun did, feeling her heart pounding from her chest. “She went to see him; she went to see Bobby because he loved her. He was going to save her.”

    Dropping to her knees Chloe saw Jun lying in a near by the spot, she was bleeding every where and dying and saw her father dug her grave. “Her father hit her and this time he had a knife. He used it on her hair, she tried to stop him but her hand got in the way.” Chloe looked at her bandaged hand that was throbbing now seeing why Jun wanted her to cut herself there first.

    “Chloe what happen next?” Sam said trying to coax the rest from her.

    Chloe breathed in the smell of the soil and dug her fingers into the dirt. “She died in here.” She whimpered again. Her eyes squeezed shut and Chloe could feel the dirt falling on top of Jun. The feel of cool soil dropping on her head and falling into her mouth then all over her skin was playing out in Chloe’s mind and all over her body. The pain and blood loss from her neck didn’t allow her to fight it and didn’t allow her to move.

    “He buried her alive.” She cried out trying to let Jun’s memories wash over her. “She was bleeding but she wasn’t dead when he tossed her in.” Chloe felt someone touch her shoulder and knew it was Lex. Not turning to him she let the tears flow from her eyes. “She was a lost girl for weeks until they gave up and buried that empty coffin as if she was in it. They lied to people said she was in her room, said she was gone then one day they found her in her room.”

    Lex’s hand squeezed her shoulder and she felt him behind her kneeling down with her. “Chloe please look at me. It’s okay now you’re back, you don’t have to say anymore.”

    Shaking her head once Chloe felt as if this could be the end but something was wrong. She found the truth and knew what happen to Jun. They just needed to do as Sam said and salt then torch her bones but something was very wrong.

    Her body froze in the spot she was in. Her mind went back to Jun huddled under the bed hiding in the shadows of the room. The little bit of light around her from the setting sun seemed to be fading away. The lost of the light meant one thing.

    Jun was coming to stop them before they could unearth her body.

    “Get away from me” Chloe said nudging Lex back with her shoulder without looking at him. She closed her eyes and something was different then the first time. Jun wasn’t putting her in the trance like before or tossing the boys away from her but the light was still fading away.

    “Chloe its okay we are going to get rid of her now.” Lex didn’t move as she asked but tried to turn her towards him.

    It was no use because Chloe was focused on the shadow of the woman below her and it was slowly merging with hers. There was nothing she could do to stop it and the boys couldn’t react fast enough as Chloe faded away.

    “I said get away.” Chloe repeated but she wasn’t in control of her voice. Her shoulders turned towards Lex still touching her and he jerked back once he saw her.

    “Chloe?” Lex murmured looking like all the blood drained from his face.

    Jun toyed with Lex and the shadow of her face covered Chloe’s “Chloe’s not here.” She answered him standing to her feet moving over her grave to strengthen her hold on Chloe. “But I’ll keep her safe. She was lost like me but now she’s found.”

    Chloe was a lost girl just like she was and Jun was going to help her find herself.

    “Jun?” Sam asked pointing the shot gun at her.

    She looked at him almost hollowing out a whole into him. “What are you going to do shoot her body?”

    “If it gets you the hell out of her, yes we are going to shoot you.” Dean answered.

    Jun laughed at the answer and knew it would never happen. All three of them thought they cared for Chloe so much but Jun knew better and she would tell them. “You wouldn’t dare shoot her.”

    “What is going on?” Lex said moving back to stand with the Sam and Dean, clutching his gun for dear life. “Chloe are you there?”

    “That’s not Chloe.” Sam replied.

    Jun smiled wide and watched them process what was going on. Sam and Dean knew she was in there it was all over their faces but Lex was slowly coming to the realization that Chloe was hers now.

    “She’s mine now.” Jun didn’t use Chloe’s voice to speak that time. The ominous tone Chloe first heard when she was attacked by Jun was echoing in their ears and Jun wanted it to be the last thing they heard.
