Summary: Lex is cursed by a certain hair color.

Author Notes: A present for a good friend---an early one---whom I talked with and this idea came to be. Poor Lex, to be cursed by the same hair color that Mulder is cursed with. Go for the Blonde---Mulder found happiness with the red head---lightning might strike twice. <g> All kidding aside, respect is all the two characters needed from the women they loved. So, dedicating this piece to my friend, first and foremost. And to David and Jay, for being a good friends and betas. Enjoy everybody.
"The Curse Of The Brunettes" - by PMD
"Well, looks like the curse of the brunettes has hit Mulder square in the chest again," Chloe states, as she turns off the TV.
I back away from her and my blue eyes stare at her hazel ones. "Curse of the brunettes?"
"Oh, come on Lex---you know---Mulder has the worst taste in women when it comes to brunettes. Phoebe, the woman in 3--- Diana---ring a bell?"
"Ah---so his luck changed when the redhead came along?"
"Well---yeah."
"Just had to change the hair color?"
"Well---yeah. And get respect from the woman too."
"Ahhhhh---like you respect me."
She has this sly grin on her face. "Who said I respected you?"
"Want the list or just the top five names?"
"Haha---funny man," she states, snuggling back into me. "You do know that you and Mulder have that in common."
"Have what in common?"
"The curse of the brunettes."
I look down at her. "Oh? Do tell?"
She looks up and smiles. "Well, there is a long list but I'll just hit the high points."
She backs away and goes into reporter mode---standing up and walking around, gathering her thoughts. Then she turns to me. "Ready?"
"As I'll ever be."
"Number one: Her name is Victoria Hardwick---or as I like to think of her----Hardwitch. She came into your life, as a possible girlfriend. Of course, you weren't fooled at all. But still, you let her in and well, she did get under your skin or you wouldn't have been worried about her and sent her away, when you had to deal with Amy, would you have?"
"I was worried about a fellow human being."
"Yeah, I guess. But you knew what she was from the beginning---so it wasn't the full curse put on you---just half a one. And you got out, pretty well unscathed---except for your father---another brunette by the way---who---"
"---slept with her. Yes, she had the best and then downsized," I state, with a grin.
She shakes her head in amazement. "Enough with the sexual innuendoes, Lex."
"Awww----but it's so fun to make you blush."
She glares at me. "So---Victoria is gone---want to know the next one or should I leave it for our wedding night---which if you keep up with the innuendoes---you'll be spending on the couch."
"Ouch! All right I'll curtail my innuendoes."
"Thank you---for no small favor," she retorts, with a grin.
"Hey, none from you either!"
"Sorry, couldn't resist."
"Resist, please."
"I will, Honey. Now let's see---the next person to be a part of the curse---Carrie Castle."
"Carrie Castle? There was nothing going on between us."
"Oh, so you let any woman give you a massage?"
"How'd you----oh never mind. Yes, she gave me a massage but it was innocent."
"Lex, the curse doesn't only fall under romantic---as Carrie can attest too---it's bad luck too. Remember---she wrote that scathing story about you and you had to pull in a favor to get her that job in order for it not to show up."
"How did you know about that?" I ask, leaning forward on my knees.
"Oh---I never told you of my role in this, did I?"
"No!" I growl.
"Ah---see, I had this friend at the place she worked and he told me what was happening. So, I pulled in a favor and got him to send you a copy of the piece."
"What favor?" I growl.
"A date----and nothing happened."
"Nothing?" I ask, eyes gleaming with jealousy.
"Hey, don't go all postal or jealous with me---nothing happened. And if he had tried something---verbal isn't the only judo I know. I can protect myself."
"So sayeth the person who's had to have either Clark or me save you, once or twice."
"Just to pump up your egos."
"Yeah, right, whatever," I state. "So, that's three---two women and one father---got anybody else? Oh, I know---what about Lana?"
"Lana?"
"She's brunette---and I don't feel cursed around her."
"She's a friend, Lex---Victoria, Carrie, Lionel---all wanted something from you---she doesn't--except for your friendship."
"Okay---I missed the curse with her. So---"
"The next contestant on who will curse Lex Luthor---Desiree."
I sit back and give out a sigh. "Yes, she certainly cursed me. But Chloe, I was drugged."
She laughs.
"That's not funny."
"No---but once again, there is a bond between you and Mulder---he said the same thing in Bad Blood."
I have to smile at that. "And here I thought I had more in common with Skinner?"
"Hey---quit changing the subject. Okay---Desiree---she made you fall in love with her, turned into a Black Widow--and you barely escaped with your life. A chapter best forgotten and yet, another brunette curse in your life. Now---got one more and this will probably hurt you the most."
"She whose name shall no longer be mentioned?" I ask.
"Yes---that's the one. Lex, I'm so sorry she hurt you," she states, walking back to the couch and sitting down.
"Yes, but if she hadn't, would we be here right now."
"I think so---after all, I had my own curse going on, with your father. Except that---"
"You did it to get to the bottom of a story---not to help him find out information on Clark. Hmmmm---another curse of the brunette---Clark---you loved him, he didn't love you. I'm so sorry I inadvertently hurt you all those years, trying to get the two of them together. Forgive me?"
She leans up and gives me a kiss on the lips. "That answer enough, Lex?" she asks as she backs away.
I smile at her and pull her back, kissing her so deeply, we moan. I back away, to gain oxygen, and stare at her hair.
"What?" she asks.
"Chloe---let's go upstairs, shall we?"
"Lex, you know I don't want to do it until we're married!"
"No---not that room---the bathroom."
"The bathroom? I don't get it!"
"Then let me show you."
We get up and I lead her to the mirror. "See."
"Oh," she states, as she looks at her blonde hair, with brunette streaks. She turns to me. "But, I've got more blonde that brunette---doesn't that negate the curse?"
"Let's not take any chances. We're going up and getting rid of all the brunette in your hair, okay?"
"All right---but I refuse to put purple in my hair," she states, as we walk out of the room.
"How about gray?"
"Not on your life, Buddy---I'm too young for gray. Besides, I'm waiting till I get it naturally."
"And who would give you gray hairs?"
"You!"
