Re: NS Fanfic Challenge - #8 March 2010 - "Pic Challenge" - PG stories
Today's the last day to vote, so vote if you haven't already! The poll closes tomorrow morning when I get to work (around 8am my time).
Re: NS Fanfic Challenge - #8 March 2010 - "Pic Challenge" - PG stories
The winner is...
SINECURE!
who wrote story three!
Nicely done sinecure! :)

Whoa! Thank you! Every entry was fantastic, so, thank you for voting for me. *bounces* Yay!
Re: NS Fanfic Challenge - #8 March 2010 - "Pic Challenge" - PG stories
Congrats on the win, Sinecure. What does it feel like to have won with a PG fic? :D
Mine's #2, Stained Glass. I knew it was angsty and that it'd probably not seduce many voters because of it, but who cares, right? We do this for the fun and if we win it's a bonus. It was what I felt like writing at the time and that stained-glass window was the only element in the pics which helped me come up with something original. And all of the one-shots managed to do that, which is a true accomplishment considering the scenes they depicted.
Despite the lack of votes, I feel very satisfied because the Queen of Angst liked it. :D

This was a beautiful fic. I loved the metaphor that was built up, making a connection between that beautiful stained glass window in Lex’s office to his relationship with Chloe Sullivan… something precious and beautiful beyond all imagining, and yet heartbreaking fragile, and now shattered beyond all repair.
I also liked how it was something completely beyond Lex’s control that broke that glass. A tree branch of all things?! I could almost taste Lex’s vexation and frustration about having something so random, unpredictable and so completely outside of his control breaking into his world like that… pretty similar to the exterior forces that broke up his and Chloe’s relationship…?
Heartbreaking, and yet beautifully written! I loved it!
Thanks for your lovely feedback, somethingeasy. I'd been toying with the idea of using two short poems I had to intersperse in a couple of one-shots. And then, this challenge turned up and when I saw the stained-glass window I immediately thought of them- in other words, they were my true inspiration. The poems which struck a cord in me were: Linda A. Copp's 'A Stained-Glass Window' and Georgie M. Kusak's 'God's Crayons'.

Good work, everyone!
And an extra big CONGRATS to Sinecure! I loved Freckles; its simplicity, its depth, the lovely style it was written it. Definitely one of my all-time favorite fics, ever!

The Irish in you gave you away. I had a big hunch the first one was yours. I enjoyed it a lot, Kit.
