Chloe's POV

The Talon - October 31st

I watch Lana as she runs around like a crazy person, and I sigh.

"Lana?"

She rushes over. "What?"

"Calm down, Lana, before you have a heart attack."

She lets out a sigh and flops down on the bench across from me. "Chloe, I can't---I have so much to do today."

"Serving coffee? The waitress' can do that."

"Chloe---you know what today is?"

"The 31st?"

"Of October---I have to get the candy ready for the kiddies and then have somebody here to give it out. Not to mention, stupid me, decided, I'm going to help with Lex's party at the mansion by lending him some of the waitresses. And then forgetting, my better half will be out of town because of some stupid ribbon cutting in Metropolis until tonight. So, I'm stuck here, running the shop with a limited staff---and---"

"Take a breath."

"Don't have time for that."

She gets up and I stop her from moving away from the table. "I'll help."

"But don't you have to get ready for the party?"

I sigh. "Not going."

"What---but you have to. I have to have somebody to talk to---I mean, really, need you to talk to. Why aren't you going?"

"Lana, how much coffee have you had today?"

"Four, I think."

"Have decafe for the rest of the day."

"Haahaa--so, why aren't you going?"

"Jimmy and I broke up, remember?"

"Oh, right---I remember---Mr. Bowtie decided I was a better match until Clark straightened him out. But I thought he would go back---"

"No---he went after Lois now. Darn it---my cousin always screws up my love life."

"I'm sorry, Chloe."

"Lana, can you be my cousin instead?"

"I'd rather be your sister and kick your cousins butt back to Metropolis."

I smile, putting out my hand. "You got a deal, Sis."

She just rolls her eyes and looks around. "Okay---let me see---what can you do that won't have you breaking anything or causing any meteor freaks to appear?"

"You should talk," I quip.

She turns back, smiling. "Yeah, we've both had our share but I can think of one meteor freak that would love to have you there."

"Ah---who?"

"Chloe are you so dense that you can't feel his energy wanting to merge with yours every time you are in the same room."

"Ah---who?"

"Lex."

"Lex? What Lex---who Lex---Lex Luthor?"

"Bingo."

I snort---yeah, right. Like Billionaire Boy would ever see me that way.

"Lana, you are so delusional."

"Am I?" she asks me, sitting down again.

"What do you know?"

She sighs. "Ask him."

"I'm asking you."

She stares at me and gives me a grin. "Well, I heard from Sarah who heard from Janice, who heard from Sandra, who heard from---"

"Lana---does everybody know but me?"

"Well, I didn't mention any boy's names."

"That's because men don't gossip. Now spill or I'll be spilling blood."

"Okay, well, Janice, heard from Sandra, who heard from---"

"LANA!"

She cringes. "Okay---well, Lex's secretary told Sandra, her niece, that Lex fell asleep in his chair one night and she walked in to wake him up and well he said, 'I can't do it again, Chloe. Do I look like a super man?'"

"Oh my God---he really said that?"

"Yeah."

"She's trustworthy?"

"Yep."

"You're absolutely sure?"

She nods.

"But he never said anything."

"Because you were with Jimmy."

"Awwww---he's so sweet. He wants me to be happy."

"I want you happy too but not with Jimmy."

"He just didn't know about his wandering eyes, ears, mouth, hands, and little Willy."

"It was that small?"

"He rubbed up against you--could you feel it?"

"Come to think of it---no."

I start to laugh.

"Hey, did he even know where to put it?" she asks, wonderingly.

"Did Clark?" I snark back.

"Honey, he knew how to do a lot of stuff---I'm still with him, right?"

I laugh so hard that tears come. Finally:

"Who knew that Lana Lang had a smut mouth."

She snorts. "Hey, I learned from the best."

"Me?"

"Nawwww---Sarah."

I roll my eyes and come back down, with a thud. "Are you sure?"

"That he has feelings for you?"

I nod.

"Sure I'm sure. As I say, his secretary is really trustworthy."

I sigh. "But I have to be sure or fail again."

She puts her hand over mine. "Chloe, take that leap."

"Sure---I'll do that and end up on the side of the mountain once more."

"Chloe---I want you to be happy."

"Then you go to Lex and ask him how he feels about me."

She sighs. "How about we do this instead. You, I, and Clark go to the mansion for the party and then you corner him and jump him."

"And he rejects me and I go home and cry myself to sleep."

She pulls her hand away. "He wouldn't dare with the idea I have for you for a costume."

"What---naked with a horse and long hair?"

"Noooo---something more subtle---a body suit and some scarfs."

My eyes widen and then I roll them. "Okay. I know when I'm beaten---lead me to the Arabian Nights nightmare."

She gets up. "Gladly---as soon as it quiets down here."

I get up. "So, we'll work here first and then do me up. Deal?"

"Deal."

~

A Couple of Hours Later

I'm standing in front of the mirror, my eyes closed.

Lana had turned me away from the mirror to put on the costume. Then I had closed my eyes as I turned back to the mirror, afraid that I might not pull it off.

"Come on, Chloe. Open up those hazel eyes and please don't cry."

I snort, open them, and gasp. "Is that me?"

Lana stands right behind me. "Of course."

I smile. The costume is exquisite. And will probably garner a lot of attention from unattached men.

I'm wearing a body suit, with 7 veils of pure silk falling in graceful symmetry around my blossoming body. I sigh---touching one and smile again. Lana is good.

"Lana, it's beautiful---thank you."

She pats my shoulder. "Not a problem and look---no pink."

"I can't pull it off like you can," I laugh.

"True---so how do I look?"

She backs away as I turn around and look at her.

"Well, well, Mrs. Cleaver, where is the Beaver and Wally?"

She laughs and looks down at her 50's wifey dress and the pink apron. "It does look authentic."

"Like you just stepped out of a 50's TV show."

We hear a knock and then:

"Are you guy's descent?"

"As we'll ever be, Clark," Lana says.

She walks over to the door and opens it. "Hey, Honey."

He smiles just before leaning in and giving her a kiss.

"Hey, get a room," I quip.

He backs away and looks beyond Lana, giving me a wolf whistle.

"Thank you, kind sir," I answer, bowing to him.

"I don't think that is for me," he states.

"No---since I don't want to be drop kicked into next Tuesday by Lana."

He turns his attention to her and then takes her hand. "Not jealous?"

"No---I know you love Chloe but you are in love with me. Besides, that costume isn't for you, as you say."

"Lex?"

She nods and I blush.

He turns his attention to me again. "Nervous?"

I nod.

"Unsure?"

"Yeah."

"Good!"

"What? Why?"

"Because he's just as nervous."

I walk up to him. "Really?"

He nods. "I just left him---he's sweating through his costume."

"He knows I'm coming?"

"He knows the powers of persuasion that Lana possesses."

I look at her. "You betcha---she can charm the Asp for sure."

He shakes his head. Then:

"Ready to go?"

We both nod and leave him alone for a few minutes, to get our coats. Then we are out the door to the party---and my future.

~

Lex's POV

The Mansion

If I hear one more person ask what is the show this evening, I am going to scream!

I let out a sigh and look down the corridor. My manservant, James, is at the corner, looking around it to the door.

"Anything yet, James?" my voice carrying to where he is.

He turns to look at me. "No sir---I'll tell you when you can hide from her."

I snort at that. "I'm not going to hide."

"Very well, Sir. I'll just tell you when your three friends arrive."

"Thank you."

I lean against the wall, wondering if Lana's persuasion skills are rusting now. Then I hear the doorbell and James straightens up and nods to his protégé to open the door.

A few minutes later, James turns around and nods---she's here. She's finally here. And hopefully tonight, I'll tell her how I feel.

My father has finally left the building and the country. And I've made sure he can never make his way back here ever again.

Clark and I are friends again. Lana gave her approval. Mr. and Mrs. Kent are amazed at how I've changed---and Pete---long distance Pete has kept in touch with me through e-mails.

He said he trusted me more than Jimmy---and that was a good sign.

"Lex?"

I look up at Clark and Lana. "Who's taking care of the farm?" I ask them, with a smirk.

"Who's taking care of the ancient war?" he counters with.

I look beyond them. "Didn't work?"

"No, she's using the bathroom, Lex," Lana states.

She walks up to me and gives me a hug, whispering, "She's nervous too."

She backs away, kisses my cheek, and then takes Clark's offered arm. "We'll see you inside, Lex," she states.

I sigh. "Sure, leave a guy when he's at his most uncertainness."

"You know, we could staaayyyy----" I hear as Clark is dragged into the party.

I laugh once and then stand there, waiting for my future to get out of the bathroom---not a good sign---or maybe it is.

I stand there, taping my foot to the music inside for five minutes, wondering, did she fall in. I can't ask James to go check, can I? No---that's not good.

Maybe if I walk into the room and watch the activities for a while, she'll come out faster.

I turn around and walk into the room.

It's set in orange and black---with fake bats flying above on invisible wires every so often. There's a huge table at the back, full of goodies to eat and drink.

"Impatient?"

I jump at Clark's voice and then look at him sternly. "You do know you took 10 years off my life."

He laughs. "Yeah, well, you've taken a few years off my life at times too. You do know I'm the invulnerable one, not you."

"I can't get sick," I state.

"But you can get killed with a bullet."

"So can you with Green K."

He sighs. "True---so you watch my back and I'll watch yours."

"Deal," I state, putting out my hand for him to shake, which he does.

"Where the hell is she?" I ask, taking back my hand.

"What's taking her so long?" I add after scant minutes.

"The age old question of men, I think," Clark answers.

I'm about to say something when he perks up. "She's coming---I can hear her shoes."

"Better greet her than."

He nods and I leave, getting out there just as she turns the corner and comes towards me. Oh my---she's gorgeous. Look unimpressed, Lex.

A lady walks out the door and whistles at my toned legs, before walking away from us. Damn legs. Why do I have to be such a sex symbol tonight?

"Nice legs," Chloe states

Look unimpressed, Lex.

I stare at the vision before me, smirking. She's incredible---a fireball of fury at one moment. An angel from Heaven the next.

I glance up and down her and then lean against the wall, ready to snark:

"Nice costume---you are almost wearing. Are you a 'Dance of the Seven Veils' dancer?"

"Are you a greeter at one of Las Vegas' finest hotels?"

I snort at that. "Don't you recognize who I am?"

"A disgruntled party thrower?"

"Partly."

"Somebody who doesn't have a date evidently---unless---she's the Invisible Woman is she---Sue---where are you?"

I give her a classic smirk and she smiles. Then:

"So, where's your date?" I ask, innocently, even through I know the answer.

"Oh, you mean Jimmy? Well, we broke up."

I lift an eyebrow. "Broke up---why?" Man, I'm good---should have been an actor.

"He was more interested in computers and Lana then me."

"I bet Clark wasn't too happy with that."

"He told him what's what and then Jimmy got interested in my cousin, who stood up for him."

"Seems he's going through all the eligible women in Smallville."

"I remember now why I didn't talk to him for two years---he was doing the same with some of the women at the Daily Planet. But then, I don't care anymore---I just hope he doesn't give Lois any disease."

I laugh and then sigh. "And now no date?"

"Nope. You know of somebody who could use a harem girl on his arm."

"Alexander the Great would be honored to be your date."

"Where is he?"

"Chloe!"

She snickers. "Gotcha!"

I roll my eyes and offer her my arm. She takes it and whispers, "If you are nice to me tonight, I'll do the dance of the seven veils for you later on."

"Promises, promises," I whisper back, loving the snark going on.

We walk into the room and hear wolf whistles and cat calls.

I groan. She just laughs at it.

"Lex, lighten up---it's just people appreciating what I'm wearing."

"Where is a coat when you need one?"

She bumps me and I laugh. "I was kidding."

"I know."

We notice movement towards us and she groans.

"Jimmy."

I groan too. "What is he doing here?"

"With my cousin that you invited."

I glare at the man before us. Then:

"What are you supposed to be, Chloe; a slut? And wait---he's your pimp, right?"

She grips onto my arm and I want to yelp in pain but hold it in.

"Jimmy--go away!" she hisses at him.

"Now why should I? I was invited."

"You were not---Lois was!"

He looks at her and then at me. "Wow, you went a step down, Chloe."

Again with the gripping---Chloe, I'm not going to do anything bad.

I gently pull her hand off my arm and then give her a slight smile. Then I look at him:

"Okay---want to do this the easy way or the hard way?"

"What?"

"He's asking you if you want to leave on your own two feet or be thrown out, by both of us."

I turn to look at Clark standing there, eyes blazing. I nod my head at him and look back at Jimmy, paling---a true coward for sure.

"So, want to leave on your own steam or ours?"

He looks at Chloe. "One dance and I'll leave."

"Not going to happen!" she grates out.

"Why not?" he whines.

"You always step on my feet."

He leans in, pulling at her and before she can move, I put my hand on his arm. "Leave her alone---she said no!"

He takes his hand away and puts them up. "Want to fight, Luthor?"

I snort. "You---I'm the gold gloves at my college---what are you?"

He takes a jab at me and misses. "Come on---fight like a man, you pussy."

I look at Chloe who smirks. "It's clobbering time!"

I look back at him and hit him right in the nose. He yelps and puts his hand up to it. "You broke my nose."

Clark comes forward and takes him by his other arm. "Come on, Jimmy. Let's go."

Lois comes running up. "I'll take him to the emergency. Sorry about that, guys."

"That's okay, Cos. We aren't responsible for other's actions," Chloe states.

As Jimmy goes by her, he says to Chloe. "You weren't that good."

They leave the room and everybody goes back to what they were doing.

I look beyond Chloe and see Lana, mouthing, 'Tell her.'

A slight nod and I'm back to her. "Chloe---I want to show you something."

She nods, following me out of the room and towards my study. I open the door and she walks in, gasping.

All around it are candles lit and there is a table and two chairs over by the fireplace.

"Lex?" she asks, as I close the door.

She turns around and looks at me. "Are you trying to seduce me?"

"Is it working?"

She walks up to me. "A little over the top but then it wouldn't be you if it wasn't."

"Is that a yes or a no?"

Mere seconds take place but they feel like hours. Then it happens---an imperceptible nod to some but not to a man searching for his salvation in the face of the one he loves.

I lean in as she leans up and place a chaste kiss on her lips.

When I back away, her eyes are still closed and I hear her say, "Hidden no more."

I touch her cheek and her eyes open. "What is hidden no more?"

"How we feel."

"And how do we feel?"

I watch her bit her lip and then look down on at her feet.

"Chloe?"

She looks up. "Yeah?"

"Want to do that dance now---for the man who's in love with you?"

Her eyes brighten and then she shouts, "Pinch me---I must be dreaming."

I pull her in. "It's not a dream---our feelings are hidden no more and it feels like Heaven on Earth."

"Yes," I hear her say.

I back away. "Yes?"

"Yes to it's not a dream---and if you can show me the way to the bedroom---I'll do that dance."

"Oops, I forgot---I have a party going on."

"Clark!" she whispers, adamantly.

A few seconds later, there is a knock at the door.

"Come in," I say, standing beside her now.

It opens and Clark and Lana walk in.

"What do you want, Chloe?" she asks her.

"Can you be the host and hostess of the party?"

They look at me for acceptance of the idea and I just raise an eyebrow.

They look back at her. "Sure we'll do that," Lana states.

"Good because I want to have some fun with my new boyfriend."

"Chloe!" Lana screams, running into her arms and nearly bowling her over.

"Wow---Lana has a voice that only bats can hear at times," I state, with a chuckle.

"Or superheroes," Clark adds.

I raise an eyebrow at him.

"How do you think I get here so quickly all the time---it's not the phone---it's her yelling for me."

"Wuss," I quip.

"You should talk---your girlfriend just asked us to host your party, without your approval."

"I approved---for her, I would approve anything."

"A new wing for Smallville Hospital?" he asks.

"Done."

"How about---"

"Don't push your luck, Kent."

He laughs, walking over and pulling me into his arms.

"Don't hurt her," he says.

"I won't."

He backs away. "Good."

We stare at each other for a few minutes and then over at the girls.

"Lana---party---come on," Clark states.

"Oh, okay---Chloe---tell me everything later on."

"Everything?" Chloe quips.

"Ah---no, I mean, no, not that, I mean the PG-13 stuff, Chloe," Lana struggles to get out.

"What PG-13 stuff?" Chloe quips.

"Chloe!"

"Gee Lana and you had such a potty mouth a while about about you and---"

"Chloe!"

"What?"

"No talking about that, okay."

"Okay."

She sighs and looks at Clark. "Come on---let's go and watch over the masses for them."

She grabs Clark's hand and they leave the room quickly, without a bye or leave.

We stare at each other for a few minutes and then she grins.

"Last one to the bedroom is a dirty rotten egg!"

She dashes towards the back stairs, me close behind, laughing all the way.

Chloe's POV

The Next Morning

My eyes open to a very masculine bedroom and a very hot guy beside me.

I smile, remembering doing the 7 veils dance and only getting to number two before he pulled me around and found the zipper to the body suit. Ah well, I didn't mind.

Then we made love until the wee hours of the morning.

Clark and Lana were two great friends tonight. So great, we fell asleep, knowing they had taken care of everything and vowing we would have to give them a great party for all the help they did this night.

I hear a snort and a snore from the man---then another snore. I push his body with mine and he stops, letting out a sigh and then is silent once more.

I just reveled in how I felt. Clark was a distant memory---a child hood crush. With this man, it would never end---or hoped it wouldn't.

There's a knock at the door.

"Lex?" I whisper to him.

No sound.

"Lex!" I whisper, louder. And then I push at his body with mine.

"What?" he asks, waking up, finally.

"The door," I state, as he looks down at me.

"Oh."

There's another knock. "Yes?" he calls out.

"Master Lex---would you like to have breakfast in bed or in the nursery?"

He looks at me. I gesture it's his choice. He looks at the door again.

"We'll be having it in the nursery, James."

"Very well, Sir. Miss Chloe?"

"Yes, James?"

"Eggs or pancakes, Miss?"

I smile. "How about both---I have a very big appetite this morning."

I hear a chuckle from Lex.

"Very well, Miss. Same for you, Master Lex?"

"Yes."

"Very well. I'll be going now."

"Thank you, James. We'll be down shortly."

We hear him walking away.

"You worked up an appetite?" he asks me.

I move away from him, push the sheets away, and grab at a dressing gown he had put out for me the night before. I put it on and get up, turning to look at him.

"So---want to join me in conserving the water this morning?"

He grabs his own, putting it on, gets out of bed, and joins me, taking my hand to lead me to his bathroom.

~

Lex's POV

Breakfast And Understandings

I pick a rose for her and prick my thumb.

"Just like our lives, Lex. We're a very handsome couple but when we are pissed, we grow thorns."

She walks over to me and takes my thumb, sucking it gently.

She then backs away and takes the red rose from me, smiling.

"Thank you."

"For what?"

"For just being you."

"And that is?" I ask, taking her hand and leading her to the table set out for us.

I take out the chair for her to sit on and she does, waiting patiently for me to sit down before she speaks.

"Well, as you well know, I have had the worst taste in men sometimes."

"Jimmy's just the tip of the iceberg?" I quip.

She sighs and looks out at the rain falling outside the window. Then she comes back to me.

"You know, I think we are perfect for each other."

"I agree."

Then she smiles. "Well, you don't always agree but that's okay."

She looks out the window again and I smile.

"Chloe---are you okay?"

She looks back. "More than okay---I'm hidden no more."

I get up and walk over to her side, kneeling and taking her hand.

"Why are we perfect for each other?" I ask.

She takes a deep breath and then:

"Well, I found that I couldn't be myself around Jimmy and the other's to order to please them."

"And you can be your own imperfect self with me," I quip.

Her other hand hits my arm and I grin. She smiles back and rubs it.

"Yes, I guess that's it. You can be yourself around the person who loves you because they love you for all that you are."

I stare into her eyes and sigh.

"So, why do you think we are perfect together, Lex?"

I think for a moment and then:

"Because we just are---it's a feeling. Like I've finally found my way home. And I'm never going to jeopardize it ever."

"I think we also are the same in ways but different in others---and that compliments each other. Not to mention---"

"Yes?" I ask.

She starts to blush. "You know---we fit well together in bed."

I start to laugh and she joins me. I get up and kiss her hand before heading to my seat again. I take up the glass of juice before me and she does her's too.

"To being in love and knowing we've found the one we're destined to be with."

"To being hidden no more and the surprises to come."

The End.
