Author: Blaire
Rating: Pg/Pg13
Summary: Chloe falls into the arms of her rescuer.

A/N: I think this vaguely conspired from a story of
Catheryne's. Some would say it's OOC, not really
though.

Paying the Price
Chloe sat completely still at her desk. Moments ago
she had been fully aware of the article she was
working on, and then her eyes had glazed out. Now she
only thought of last night. What it was supposed to
mean. Why it happened, and how she had pushed him.
"Chloe?" The soft voice cut through the stillness of
the room. Jarred out of a complete daze, her head
tilted slightly to study his reflection in the monitor
of her computer.
"What?" Her reply thick with emotion. A bitter taste
on the tip of her tongue, just thinking of saying his
name.
"I already apologized, you know I didn't mean it."
His voice cracked slightly and she nearly cringed
outwardly. Instead she slightly moved her mouse, the
article she had been working on, once again wiped away
the screen saver. "Dammit, Chloe." His long legs led
him across the room. His hands grabbing a hold of her
desk chair, he spun it on it's wheels and it swiveled
slightly until he loomed over her. Leaning down close
to her face she could feel the hot breath descending
upon her.
The tears slipped out of the corners of her eyes
before she could stop them and she kept her gaze
steadily locked on his. "I think you should leave
now." Nearly content with the way she kept her voice
cool and even despite the wretched look upon her face.
The tears slipped once again and inside she cursed
herself as her left eye stung from the broken skin on
her cheekbone. His lips stole at hers. Pushing
harder against hers. Her bottom lip ripping into her
teeth she attempted to cry out, her eyes locked on his
eyelids.
Her hands, rising to his chest to push him away, only
she knew she couldn't. He was too strong for her.
Her knee rose from her sitting position and connected
hard in between his legs. His lips tore from hers
with a cry and a curse before doubling over and
dropping onto his own knees to the ground. "Bitch."
He hissed.
Without a second thought Chloe grabbed her bag and
bolted for the door. Lean fingers wrapped around her
ankle and with a crash she tumbled down in the
doorway.
"Let her go." Chloe, startled at the familiar
masculine voice, looked up. Fingers bruising into her
ankle she used her other foot and brought it back
before plunging it forward and connecting it with his
right shoulder blade.
In a swift movement, arms were around her, pulling her
up from the ground to safety. The safety of his
embrace, he half carried, half dragged her from the
Torch office. "What the hell was going on in there?"
Lex looked down at her and her eyes met his blankly.
"Chloe? Did he hit you?" He stopped then. A few
more steps and they'd be out of the school. He turned
her slightly in front of him to study her features.
"Chloe?"
Her eyes cleared momentarily and she could fear the
tears threatening her again. The blood staining her
tongue inside her mouth made her heart race. She felt
the tiny drop that escaped her lips to run down her
chin, and within seconds she was pulled into a strong
pair of arms and hauled off her feet out the doors.
A year later:
Chloe sat beside Lex at the Talon. Her eyes sparkled
with mischief as he leaned closer to whisper in her
ear. She grinned slyly up at him before shaking her
head no.
Clark sat alone in the corner of the Talon. The most
remote spot in the coffeehouse. He had watched them
for nearly a year now. Despite the hatred he felt for
his ex billionaire friend, he hated himself even more.
He had driven his then girlfriend and best friend
into the arms of another friend. Under the control of
the red meteorite, only one other person shared his
secret from that night. The night his inhibitions had
lost out on him and he could barely make out her
audible voice as his right hand met her eye. And then
the next day, he had gone to apologize, but when he
saw the fear in her eyes, he had struggled to fix it.
And then he was hurting her again. Seconds later, Lex
had shown up and stolen her out of his life.
He hated Lex Luthor. And Lex Luthor would be sure to
pay.
Lex leaned over and placed a chaste kiss on her
forehead. Clark felt his blood boil, even as Lana
approached their table, his eyes stayed fixed on the
blonde nestled beside her boyfriend in their booth.
Yes, Lex Luthor would definitely pay.
The End!
