Chapter 1 Found

Chloe breezed into the Talon on another scorching summer day in Smallville. The summer was progressing nicely for her and in matter of weeks she would be rid of the small town to start her life as a full time college student at Met U.

The only thing holding Chloe in Smallville was her father. He was more then enough reason to stay. Chloe knew Gabe understood, more then anyone, that her dreams were awaiting her in Metropolis.

“Can I have an iced coffee please?” Chloe made her order with the clerk at the counter, hoping to get a morning jolt and something to cool her off.

“Sure thing Chloe.” After spending so much time in the Talon, the clerk knew Chloe well enough. One of the great things about Smallville that Chloe would miss was the fact that everyone seemed to know everybody and that made investigating rather easy.

“Thanks Ann.” Chloe dropped her money for the beverage and clutched the cool plastic cup in her hands while lower her lips to the straw for the first refreshing sip. “Ahh.” She said, relieved to have the cool drink, and then turned to head out.

To her surprise, waiting just behind her was the one Talon patron she didn’t want to see. Lex Luthor was right behind her, watching her closely, and Chloe wanted to be as far away from him as possible.

The last time they spoke was a week ago in the caves. Chloe was simply looking at the world Clark had given up and didn’t understand why. All his powers that could have been put to good use were going to waste because Clark wanted to be with Lana.

It was a selfish reason she never really understood after everything Lana and Clark had been though. Clark Kent wasn’t the only selfish person in Chloe’s life right now and the man that held that title was standing right in front of her.

After what happened during the meteor shower, Chloe had lost all hope that she and Lex were actually friends and could possibly be more. She could have died but his only concern was for the secret, about Clark, that still eluded him. A secret she promised to keep and always would.

It was well known that Lex could be cruel but, never did she think he could be that way with her. Even though they hadn’t spoken that year, Chloe never thought Lex wished her any harm but he proved her wrong that day in cave.

Chloe returned the straw to her mouth and brushed past Lex without a moments pause. She didn’t want to have another fight with him on what really happened to her that day.

“Hello to you to Chloe.” She heard his smug voice behind her and Chloe knew better then to take the bait but did anyway.

“So you’re talking to me now?” Chloe paused and turned to face him as he was facing her. “You must want something from me.”

He gave her the slightest grin moving in closer to her. “Actually, I did want to talk to you. Your father said you stepped out and I assumed that you’d be here getting a pick me up and cooling off.”

She watched him closely and saw the beads of sweat collecting on his bald head. He was dressed very casually in a grey t-shirt and dark trousers. Chloe couldn’t help but think that Lex was attractive and, many a time, had personal fantasies about him. Those fantasies didn’t really mean anything because Lex Luthor would never think of her that way.

“Nothing gets past you.” Chloe snapped back at him and took another sip of her icy drink.

“You can be rude or you can listen to what I have to say.”

Chloe was certain what he wanted but let him say it. “What do you want Lex?”

He took a step back and nodded towards the back of the Talon. “You might want to step into the back for this.”

Chloe wasn’t about to go into a confined space with him alone after he went off on her like a crazed person. “I think whatever you have to say can be said right here.”

One of his eyebrows raised, his shoulder shrugged and he said something she wasn’t expecting. “We can talk about your mother right here if you want to.”

She could have slapped for being so open about her mother knowing full well her mother’s history. Chloe’s secret about her mother was one she shared with two people in her life and Lex was the second. While in hiding, Chloe revealed more to him than she should have but it was a relief to get some of her demons out in the open.

Chloe didn’t say a word and pushed past him to make her way to the back of the Talon. Lex followed behind her closely then moved ahead of her, opening the door leading into the theater area.

“What do you know about my mother?” Chloe wasn’t sure why he said what he did but, if he knew something about her mother she had to know.

“I know you’ve been looking for her and I wanted to know how your search has favored this year.” She looked at him intently and something was wrong. Out in the Talon, Lex was stiff and strong but back here his demeanor changed. His eyes were lowered, his face had softened and Chloe thought she could detect a hint of nervousness in him.

“Why do you care if I’ve found her or not?” His curiosity seemed out of place and it was very troubling.

“Please answer the question. I’m not playing some sort of game with you. I know it’s important to you to find her and I just want to know how the search has gone.” She watched him hold himself back, as if he wanted to do something but knew he couldn’t

Chloe hadn’t told anyone the truth about what she’d found. She told Clark she had found her mother but, the person she thought was her mother wasn’t. At another dead end, Chloe took a break from searching for her during the summer.

Why Lex wanted to know any of this was beyond her. He hadn’t expressed an interest in her life all year but, right now, the look in his eyes told her different.

“I thought I found her but…” Chloe paused and swallowed hard over her words. She knew the truth all this time but, admitting it was causing her chest to ache with grief still not knowing her mother’s whereabouts. “I was wrong.”

Looking down at the coffee in her hands, Chloe watched the ice cubes melt slowly. She was focusing on those cubes, as opposed to looking at Lex and facing the reality that she may never find her mother.

“Chloe.” Lex whispered her name reaching to touch her shoulder. His hand squeezed her lightly and Chloe set her gaze back on him. Lex was trying to comfort her and it wasn’t something he’d done in almost a year.

“Lex, why are you asking me about my mother?” Chloe said, edging away from him and not really wanting him to easy her worries.

“You may not like this but when you told me she was missing I hired a private investigator.” He stepped back, knowing he was invading her personal space.

Chloe’s eyes narrowed and she felt the floor dropping down around her. “You had no right to do that. I never asked you for help.” She hadn’t found anything but, a professional looking for her mother could find what she never could. Lex could ask only so many questions but, he had no right to do so behind her back.

“I know that.” Lex acted as if he couldn’t stand away from her for long. Moving in closer to her, he made Chloe back up against the wall behind her. “I know you are very capable of heading your own investigation but I wanted to lend you a hand.” Lex’s voice was soft and what he said next must have been difficult for him to say. “You know about my mother. You’re the only person that knows the whole truth. I know how it feels to lose one and if I could help you get her back then…” He paused and turned away from her.

The last time they spoke there was so much animosity between the two of them but, right now, it was like nothing had changed between them. Chloe knew about Lillian and what happened to her when Julian was born. She had no idea she was the only one that knew the whole story and always thought sharing what happen to their mothers brought them closer to together.

Chloe wiped away the perspiration that colleted on her hand from the iced coffee and reached out to touch Lex’s bare arm. Her initial anger about what he’d done was gone and she just wanted to know what he knew about her mother. “Lex, I understand and you’re right I do need help. Please tell me what you’ve found.”

He turned back to look at her. Changing the focus back to Chloe, her mother, and her problems seemed to put him at ease. “Last week my PI found her.”

“What?” Chloe yelled at him and let go of his arm. Her anger returned quickly with this news. “You saw me last week and didn’t say a word. Why tell me now? Have you been holding this information so I’ll tell you what happened in the caves?” Chloe breathed out and tried to get herself under control. “I told you I don’t remember and can’t believe you, of all people, would withhold information about my mother from me.”

Chloe could feel herself getting hotter than she felt when she was outside in the summer heat. It was for certain, now, that Lex’s selfishness extended farther than she ever thought.

“Chloe, I’m not holding this over you.” His voice was stern and louder than when they started. “But the last time we spoke, it wasn’t the ideal situation for us to talk about it.”

“Right, because you have to know the truth.” Chloe started to turn and leave. Whatever he knew; he wasn’t going to tell her without her telling him something first.

Lex moved behind her quickly grabbing her arm and turning her to look at him. “Wait, I haven’t told you what I found.”

She struggled in his grip and wanted him off of her. Squeezing the iced coffee in her cold hands Chloe did the unthinkable and tossed the drink in his face.

“Goddamn it Chloe!” Lex yelled and let her go wiping back light brown liquid from his face.

Chloe thought she was free but he was right on her again. He grabbed her harder this time pushing her up against the wall. “Let me go.” Chloe tried to get away again but he held her in place with both hands on her arms.

“I don’t want anything in return for what I’ve found.” He was still yelling, squeezing her arms tighter as she struggled.

“Yeah right, you only care about yourself Lex. You don’t care about my mother.” Chloe stopped fighting and rested back against the wall.

“You’d be surprised how much I care about you Chloe, even if you toss cold beverages into my face when I’m trying to be your friend.” He let her go once she stopped fighting and used the dry bottom of his shirt to wipe his face.

Chloe got a glimpse of his toned chest and abs but was too angry to think about how good it looked. They weren’t friends anymore and, for him to say that, was the ultimate insult after ignoring her all year. “Be my friend Lex, tell me what you know.” Chloe assumed he just ran into the same dead end she had.

He breathed out a long, heavy breath then pulled something from his back pocket. “My PI took this picture last week.” He handed the photo over to her and continued his story. “It was taken in an asylum in Colorado. She’s been there for some time now and they haven’t been able to help her since she committed herself. If you want to see her the doctors think it might help bring her out of the state she’s in. Chloe, I haven’t told your father but…”

Lex kept talking but Chloe couldn’t hear him. He handed her the picture and that’s all she could see. Gabe gave her a few pictures of her mother but her vague memories didn’t prepare her for what she saw in the photograph. It was an image of her mother in a white hospital gown looking towards a nearby window. Her eyes were just as green as Chloe’s but they looked so lost. She studied the curves of her face in the image and saw the little lines that formed there over the years.

Chloe felt one tear fall down her cheek, then saw it drop on the picture she was staring at. Her mother was found and she had to see her. She had to see her after being without her for thirteen years.

By now, Lex stopped talking and was standing awkwardly in front of Chloe when she looked up at him. He was soaking wet from the iced coffee and looked so concerned for her. If he was going to be her friend then Chloe would make Lex go the extra mile for her. “Can you take me to her?”

He nodded twice. “Yes, when do you want to leave?”

“I want to leave right now.” Chloe looked back at the photo and was resolved to do this at that moment with or without Lex’s help.

He reached for her shoulder again getting her to look at him. “Let me make a few calls and we can go.”

Chloe watched Lex reaching for his cell phone and let him take care of the arrangements. She hadn’t taken his help in so long but needed it now, more then ever, to get through this. Chloe was terrified at what she would see when she saw her mother in the asylum but, had to know the reason why she left her.

Her mother was found and she was one step closer to having her in her life after years of being without her. After years of feeling like she would never know who her mother really was, Chloe could finally learn the truth.

Chapter 2 Haunted

Chloe hands were raw from rubbing them together over and over again. Every part of her body was tingling in anticipation and the focus seemed to be on her hands.

She had no complaints about the way she was traveling to Colorado. The Luthor Corp jet was spacious and comfortable but the destination was weighing heavy on her mind.

Lex made his phone call in the back of the Talon and told Chloe what arrangements he’d made for her to see her mother that day. How he made everything possible by making one phone call was beyond her but she didn’t question it. If she could say anything about Lex Luthor, his money gave him power over things she could never dream of.

When they left the Talon, Chloe wanted to go home and tell her father something. She didn’t know how long it would take to get to her mother or if she would want to leave her right away. She didn’t end up telling Gabe any of this. He didn’t know she was looking for her mother if, that is, her mother was actually found. Getting her back, only to lose her again, was something she’d grown accustomed to in all her years of searching. Chloe didn’t want to put her father through that same pain.

After stopping by her home to lie to her father about going on a short summer trip, she packed a few things. She was willing to stay behind, without Lex, to spend more time with her mother.

Chloe assumed Lex would change before boarding the plane because he was still covered in iced coffee. He had that problem worked out already. When they boarded the jet he had a suit waiting for him. Along with his suit Lex also thought ahead and had food waiting for them.

The flight was only an hour but it seemed to be taking forever. It was thirty minutes after take off and Chloe was sitting in her beige leather chair in silence. She couldn’t bring herself to eat anything for fear it would come back up. At that moment, Lex was typing away on a laptop hard at work.

He changed his clothes, ate and started working. Chloe saw him, from time to time, glance in her direction. While he was hard at work she squirmed in her seat and her palms got redder.

Chloe had to stop thinking about being disappointed before she had a breakdown. She let her mind wander over to Lex; who was working diligently. She started to feel bad about covering him in coffee when he had done this miraculous thing for her.

Chloe hadn’t say thank you yet but he didn’t seem to care. They actually exchanged very few words since they started plans to leave Smallville. Lex was being as nice as possible but, he still looked concerned for her and had a glimmer of tenderness in his eyes whenever he looked at her.

Letting her hands relax at her sides Chloe tried to say something to break the silence between them “Lex?”

He answered her not looking up from his computer or discontinuing his typing. “Chloe if you changed your mind about eating you can help yourself. I knew you’d give in soon enough.”

It wasn’t what she was expecting him to say but the quip was more like him than how he was acting at the Talon. “I wasn’t asking about the food, I was going to apologize.” She released the latch of her seatbelt and moved to stand in front of him at the other end of the jet’s cabin.

He paused raising his hands just above the keys of his laptop then, went right back to typing. “Your apology isn’t accepted.”

Chloe’s investigative nature wanted her to lean over and look at what he was frantically typing but she fought the urge to snoop. “I haven’t even given it yet. You don’t even know what I was going to apologize for.”

She watched Lex closely as he pushed a few last keys then, slammed his laptop shut. “I assumed you were going to say you’re sorry for tossing your drink into my face.” Lex finally looked up at her and the tenderness in eyes couldn’t be mistaken this time. “Your apology is not needed.”

“Why can’t I apologize? You did this amazing thing for me and I thanked you with a coffee shower.” Chloe tried to keep it together but she felt the tears coming. She only shed a few tears, not wanting to cry like a fool in front of Lex. Taking in a deep breath she pushed them back and kept her focus.

Lex stood up, placed the laptop down in his empty seat and placed his hands at her shoulders. “The last time we were alone together I wasn’t the most pleasant person.”

Chloe narrowed her eyes at him. The word unpleasant didn’t characterize his behavior at all. Lex raised an eyebrow up and retracted his statement. “I was, some might say, crazed during the meteor shower. I understand if you felt trapped and wanted to leave the Talon today but, I couldn’t let you with what I knew.”

“Your right, I don’t have to apologize. You got what was coming to you.” Chloe replied sarcastically. Lex gave her the slightest grin and removed his hands from her shoulders. They stood there for a moment, looking at each other, and Chloe could feel something she always felt with Lex.

Something was lingering around them at that moment. When they were alone like this Chloe always felt like something was haunting them but, they never searched to find what that thing was.

“I should say thanks.” Chloe finally spoke, breaking the awkward silence. “Thank you for finding her.”

His grin grew into a full smile before he answered. “You’re welcome but I owe you more then just this.”

What he owed her, she wasn’t sure of but, they were having a nice moment and hadn’t had one like this in long time. Chloe was starting to feel rather silly just standing there, not saying anything, and backed away to get back to her seat. “I’ll let you get back to your business.” Just as she turned to walk across the cabin, the jet shook making her lose her footing.

Stumbling forward, Chloe was headed right for Lex. His arms moved around her quickly and held her in place until things were back to normal. “Are you all right?” Lex’s voice was just above her and Chloe managed to bury herself in his chest to brace herself from the fall.

“Yes, thank you.” She mumbled, muffled in his dress shirt and taking in a bit of his scent. He smelled just like the coffee she tossed at him. Chloe tried, more then once, to pull away from Lex.

His arms were clinging to her but, when he felt her abrupt movement, Lex let her go. He cleared his throat and quickly picked up his laptop to sit back down. “I thought you were going to sit.” He said opening up the computer again; completely focused on the screen. If Chloe wasn’t mistaken, he was acting as if he was nervous about her being close to him.

She shook off the feeling that something was happening between them. He was holding on to her as if he didn’t want to let go but, she knew better than to think it meant anything. Lex was just making sure she hadn’t fallen.

Even though they were both angry and fighting in the back of the Talon, Chloe didn’t let the heat of the moment make her forget what he’d said to her. Lex said that she would be surprised at how much he cared for her; Chloe didn’t let herself dwell on such thoughts.

Lex was hard at work typing again and didn’t look back up at her for the rest of the flight. In her seat, Chloe let her mind drift to things that were easier to think about than Lex’s weird behavior.

She let her mind drift to her mother’s lost eyes in the photo. Her fears and worries all started to come back. Her hands started their routine again and didn’t stop until they landed in Colorado.

~~~~)~~~~(~~~~
Once they landed in Denver, Colorado a car was waiting for them to drive to the Twin Pines Asylum. Lex really did take care of this whole trip with one phone call. He told her a doctor would explain her mother’s condition then she could see her.
The facility was just outside of Denver, hidden away from sight. When they pulled into the driveway it looked like any other business but Chloe knew what was inside.
“Do you want me to go in with you?” Lex looked over at her from the driver’s seat as she stared out the car window.
Chloe wasn’t sure why he was asking this since she assumed he would come in. She couldn’t walk in there on her own and Lex was being so helpful; he just couldn’t turn his back on her now.
“If you don’t want to come in I’ll understand, but I want you to come with me.” Chloe covered his hand which was resting on the gear shift between them.
He quickly moved his hand away from hers and went for the keys still in the ignition. “I’ll go in.” He announced and got out of the car.
Chloe checked herself out and thought that she should have changed. That morning, she wasn’t trying to impress anyone and put on a pair of capri pants and a short sleeved, button up top. She felt sloppy and out of place for this meeting while Lex looked completely professional in the suit he changed into.
Knowing she wouldn’t open the car door on her own, Lex did so for her. “You look fine. I don’t think your mother will care what you’re wearing.”
“How did you…” Chloe stopped the question before it started. It wasn’t the first time Lex was inside her head. So many times before, while working together in their failed attempt to keep Lionel in jail, he read her mind. He wasn’t the only that could do it. “Don’t look so worried. I won’t break, I’m fine.”
“Dually noted.” He said with a hint of mockery, knowing she just read him.
Chloe opened the door to the place and was greeted by a receptionist. She told them to wait a moment for the doctor to arrive. Chloe had stopped fidgeting in the car but started again while they waited. There were a few doors leading away from the main entrance into the building and she had no idea which one lead to her mother.
The door to her right opened and a middle aged man, in a white coat appeared. “Miss Sullivan.” He extended his hand towards her.
“Yes, and you are?” Chloe questioned, shaking hands with the man that would tell her about her mother.
“My name is Dr. Allen Burdick, I have been on your mother’s case for the past six years.” He let go of her hand and motioned towards Lex. “Hello again Mr. Luthor.”
“Dr. Burdick.” Lex greeted the doctor, shaking hands with him. Chloe didn’t think Lex actually saw the man in person. She assumed the PI did all the work but it appeared this wasn’t his first time at the hospital.
“Let’s go into my office for a few moments before you see your mother.” Dr. Burdick led them thru the door he came from and down a long white corridor. There was a chill in the air and the place was so bare. Chloe couldn’t image how her mother survived being in that place for so long.
He led them to a door far down the hall and opened it to let them in ahead of him. “Please take a seat.”
Chloe looked over the office; it looked nothing like the outside hall. A large desk was in the center of the room and leather arm chairs were placed all over. It was like any other doctor’s office she’d been in and Chloe took some comfort that this man was trying to help her mother get better.
Lex waited for her to choose a seat in front of the desk and still looked worried for her. Chloe assumed that he wouldn’t relax because he knew she couldn’t.
“How much has Mr. Luthor explained to you about your mother’s condition?” Dr. Burdick took the seat behind the desk, looking to Chloe for an answer.
“He said that she checked herself in. Can you explain what state my mother was in when she committed herself?”
His face shifted down and looked like he was frowning at her. At that moment, Chloe didn’t need his pity she needed answers. “Miss Sullivan, I’m the third doctor on your mother’s case. There have been some complications with her treatment.”
Chloe moved forward in her chair and her heart started to pound. Her reporter’s eye honed in on getting at the truth. “What complication?”
“The first doctor on your mother’s case worked with her for four years. Your mother was doing well the first year. She would have bad days from time to time but she was lucid and, by all accounts, normal. She was diagnosed with a rare disease that induces the onset of dementia very early in life but, now we know that diagnosis was wrong.”
“What happen to the first doctor? Why did he stop working with her?” Chloe wished she had a recorder or notepad to write some of this down. She didn’t want to forget any of it and hoped she could do some research of her own about her mother’s condition.
“Dr. Bruins was committed to Twin Pines and has been here since he stopped working with your mother. He started to display the same signs of psychosis and unexplained behavior as your mother.”
“Unexplained behavior?” Chloe looked away from the doctor and moved her gaze to Lex. He was sitting there, stiff as a board, listening. She wished Lex had told her all of this before he brought her here but, it had been hard enough for Lex to tell her he found her mother let alone how sick she was. “Please, can you give some details?”
“Your mother is insistent that her illness is being caused by a woman named Jun Tyler. Do know this woman?” He pulled a file folder from the stack atop his desk and handed it over to Chloe. “Take a look at these. You mother has written these stories about Jun Tyler.”
“I have no idea who Jun Tyler is.” Chloe took the file and flipped it open to the first sheet of notebook paper. The first page was covered in the same phase.
‘Out of the light and into the shadows.’
Chloe flipped over the pages and read the same thing over and over again. Then, there were times her mother rambled about murder and a knife slicing a throat. She described the event in great detail. It was unsettling to read but Chloe had to know what was wrong with her mother.
“This Dr. Bruins is in the same state my mother is in?” Looking up from file she questioned the doctor.
“Yes. Your mother claims to see Jun and no one else can. Now Dr. Burins claims he can see Jun. Your mother also inflicts two wounds on her herself from time to time if she has something sharp enough to do it with.”
Chloe’s heart jumped in her throat at the thought of her mother cutting herself. The more he revealed the worse it got. “What wounds?”
“A small cut at her throat but nothing that could truly hurt her.” He demonstrated the slice, sliding his thumb from the right to his Adam’s apple. “Then a cut on the right hand.”
“Why does she do this? Has she said why?” Chloe was starting to feel a bit spun. The truth was harder to take then she thought it would be.
“She says that it’s the way Jun died and now she must die this way.” He lowered his head and seemed ashamed by what he said.
Chloe couldn’t understand any of this. Her mother repeats a phrase constantly and hurting herself, then her first doctor is committed with the same symptoms. It made no sense at all. Since she learned her mother was mentally ill several years ago, Chloe researched every disease there was and none of them sounded like this.
“What about the second doctor? Is he also here?”
He sighed deeply and what he had to say next was shocking. “The second doctor is dead Miss Sullivan. He killed himself after a session with your mother six years ago and that’s when I started.”
Chloe had to stand. Her body wasn’t allowing her to breathe. She needed air and couldn’t get it fast enough. She felt herself dry heaving, thinking that her mother could have caused a man’s death.
“Chloe?” Lex moved away from the desk to stand at the window pointing towards the back grounds with her. “Chloe, you can wait. You don’t have to do this today.”
Her back was to him but she could feel him standing close behind her. It hurt and she was scared but Chloe wasn’t leaving until she understood what was going on. “No, I want to see her.” Chloe turned back to face the doctor who was now standing behind her as well. “You have been seeing her for six years, aren’t you afraid something might happen to you?”
“Miss Sullivan, your mother’s case is very important to me. A perfectly healthy woman doesn’t just lose her sense of self overnight. There is a reason and I’m looking for it. I have been making some progress with her in the past few months. Your mother hasn’t claimed to see Jun. I have been treating her with a new drug that keeps her calm.”
“Could it be that she sees her and just doesn’t tell you?” Chloe found it hard to believe that a pill could make her all better.
“Your mother is a monitored all day everyday to ensure she doesn’t hurt herself anymore and we have not seen her speak of Jun.”
“What can I do? If I see her how will that help?” Chloe did know how to help her mother. She just wanted to love her and to be loved by her, a simple wish that may never happen if her mother didn’t get better.
“I believe your mother is lost and that she ran away from those closest to her because she felt herself getting sick. I think by seeing you she may be able to come back out of the darkness she’s hiding in. If she sees something real maybe Jun will fade away.”
Chloe hadn’t noticed it but Lex’s hand was holding hers. She was so focused on the doctor she didn’t feel him holding it until he squeezed it. This was the second time he was comforting her and she needed it. Chloe squeezed his hand back showing him that she was ready for this.
“You really think she can get better?”
“Your mother is a strong woman Miss Sullivan. It’s obvious that a tragic event surrounding Jun Tyler has caused her to have some sort of mental breakdown but it’s not permanent. Most of the time, she is very pleasant and helpful with the other patients. As I stated the new drug is helping but I think she can do without it and you can help her.”
A bit of hope fluttered in her heart and Chloe wanted it to be true. If this could work and she could help her mother fill the empty void in her life, Chloe would do it. “I’m ready to see her.”
“Okay, but there are a few ground rules.” The doctor moved back to his desk and pulled a small box from it. “I need you to place anything sharp that you have in this box.”
Chloe didn’t have much with her in her purse except her wallet, keys, and cell phone. She placed the small hand bag into the box and had to let go of Lex’s hand to do it.
“I’ll be just outside your mother’s room incase anything happens.”
“Do you think she would do something to Chloe?” It was first thing Lex asked the entire time they were there. He seemed was so solid and stable, trying to keep her from falling apart.
“No Mr. Luthor but if she were to have a Jun sighting it could be very upsetting for Miss Sullivan.” Dr. Burdick moved to place the box inside his desk, pulled a key from his white coat and locked the drawer. “I’ll keep your things here until your visit is over.” He motioned to leave the room and Chloe followed after him.
She didn’t notice Lex moving and turned back to at the door way to look at him. “Lex, would you stand outside the door with Dr. Burdick?”
He wasn’t moving from his spot at the window and his body seemed coiled tight. He looked frustrated but Chloe needed one of them to be clear headed. “You need me with you?” The question was shaky as if he didn’t want to say it.
If she needed someone’s help, Chloe was willing to ask for it but knew it wasn’t something Lex did freely. “I just need you to do what you’ve been doing and coming with me is a part of that.”
He didn’t put up anymore fuss and walked toward the door to leave with her. Chloe moved out first and the doctor had paused to wait for them. He led them down the white hall to another hall and then an elevator.
On the way to her mother’s room, Chloe didn’t see any other patients. Everyone seemed to be tucked away, out of sight. They passed a few nursing stations but most of the place was closed lock tight.
Dr. Burdick stopped in front of door 285 and below the numbers was her mother’s name. This was it and Chloe was going to see her mother for the first time in thirteen years.
She closed her eyes and searched for her in one of her memories. She found herself very little sitting in a big chair. She couldn’t see her mother but she could feel in her hands combing through her hair. It was a feeling Chloe had tucked away for times when she felt stressed to help calm her down and it was working.
“Should I do anything special?” Chloe looked at the doctor for last minute instructions.
“Stay calm, go in and tell her who you are.” He moved to turn the door knob and Chloe moved into the room slowly.
Her heart was pounding outside of her chest and she paused in the arch of the doorway. “I’ll be right here.” She heard Lex’s voice behind her; she needed that reassurance to move into the room.
Chloe was in the tiny space and on the other side of the bed was woman in white, standing at the window looking out into the backgrounds. She moved in slowly, placing each step carefully. Her face was growing hot and her palms felt moist. Chloe was having tell, tell signs that she was nervous. The door behind her closed slowly but she didn’t look back to it.
Chloe was just next to the woman now, her blonde hair shining in the light of the sun coming into the room. She moved into the side and could see her mother’s cheek. “Mom?” Chloe’s voice was low and shaky.
“Mom?” She repeated again waiting for the woman to react to her. Moira ?” Chloe said her mother’s name and finally got her attention.
Her head turned slowly to look at Chloe but her body didn’t move. “Chloe?” The woman spoke just as low and shy as Chloe did. Her green eyes narrowed in a way Chloe knew she’d done before.
“Yes, mom it’s me.” Chloe wanted to touch her, to hug her but she was beaten to it and her mother pulled her into her arms.
“My baby’s not a baby anymore.” She murmured at her ear, holding her tightly.
Chloe’s arms went her around her without pause; she was holding her mother after years of being without her. How she knew it was her was beyond her comprehension now because the tears she was holding back all day were flowing.
“Why did you leave us?” Chloe spoke through broken sobs, choking on her words. “Why did you leave me?”
Moira pulled back away from her and looked terrified. “I protected you from her all these years and now that has been ruined.”
“From her?” Chloe took in deep breaths trying to stop herself from breaking down. “You mean from Jun?”
“You have to leave this place.” She turned Chloe around and started nudging her to the door.
Chloe moved away, holding her hands back. “I’m not leaving this place without you. They think I can help you.”
“No you can’t. I’m lost but you are not. She hasn’t seen you yet, you can still leave.” She threw her hands off her and turned away. Chloe watched her mother look into the each corner of the room as if she was searching for something.
“Let me help you mom, please.” Chloe pleaded with her and moved to touch her face. She cupped the curve of her cheek and wasn’t going to leave no matter what she said.
“I tried hard to be good to you and your father. I only wanted to help but it all went wrong. There is only one person who can help me now, John Winchester. Do you understand me?” She moved away from her toward her nightstand and pulled out a piece of paper. “Here, write it down when you leave they don’t always give me pens.”
“Mom stop, please.” Chloe took the paper from her. “There is no Jun. She can’t hurt you if you don’t let her.”
Chloe’s mother seemed scared but she saw a shift in her eyes as if she was looking at something that wouldn’t go away. “It’s too late.”
Chloe looked behind her into the shadow of the corner in the room and nothing was there. “Mom what do you meant it’s too late.”
“Stay away from her.” Moira grabbed Chloe’s hand moving her to the door.
“Who should stay away from me?” She was afraid to ask because she knew the answer.
“Jun is here. Go for the door I’ll keep her away from you.” Moira pushed Chloe towards the exit of the room this time.
She saw Lex and the doctor standing there in the tiny window looking out then turned back to her mother. “No, there is no Jun.”
“I wouldn’t say that if I were you.” An ominous voice filled the room but Chloe didn’t see anyone else in there with her except her mother.
“Mom what was that?” Chloe moved next to her but was shoved away again.
“I told you to leave and get John. It’s the only way to save you now. I thought I could give myself to her and she would stop but Jun won’t stop. She’ll never stop. I have to stay here or she will hurt more people. She will latch on to you and do what she has done to me.”
“What has she done to you? Mom talk to me, tell me.” Chloe was frantically trying to stay with her mother but was being shoved back at each advance.
“I said leave this place Chloe.” They struggled, pushing back each others hands. Chloe just wanted her mother to hold as she did when she first saw her.
“Mine now.” The ominous voice sounded for the second time in the room.
Chloe looked at the door behind her and saw it shaking. “Chloe, open the door!” She heard Lex’s voice yelling from the other side and saw him struggling to open it. She didn’t lock the door when she entered but it was locked now.
“Chloe look at me.” Her mother called out to her.
“Open the door! Chloe! Chloe! Open the door!” Lex’s voice was getting louder and the door was shaking harder.
The room started to go dim, it was too early in the day for the sun to be setting. Chloe did as she was told and looked at her mother. Her body started to feel cold and the room was losing all its light.
”Come with me to the window.” Moira took Chloe’s hand and dragged her back to the window. “Say these words with me. Out of the light and into the shadows.” It was a phrase from her mother’s papers. Something was happening and there was nothing she could do to stop it.
“Mine now.” The ominous, cracking, voice yelled again.
“No!” Moira screamed and pulled Chloe to her. They were standing in the only light in the room coming from the window. Chloe couldn’t see or move, her mother was holding her so tightly. “Say the words Chloe, out of the light and into the shadows.” She said it once and started to repeat it over and over again.
“What’s happening?” Chloe spoke, her head resting on her mother shoulders. She was trying to get away but her mother wouldn’t let her go.
“Chloe! Please open the door!” She heard Lex still yelling and could hear the door rattling. “Do something!”
Her mother was still chanting the phase as the room grew so cold that Chloe could see her breath coming from her lips. “Mom, please let go.”
“No, just say it with me baby. Out the light and into the shadows!”
“Chloe! We are coming in.” Lex yelled at the door again and there was a loud banging.
The light from the outside was slowly slipping away. Chloe was shaking in her mother’s arms, muttering the words she told her to say. Her heart was in her throat and her mind was seeing things it shouldn’t. Moira didn’t stop chanting actually, it got louder as it got darker but whatever she was saying wasn’t working.
“Mom?” Chloe struggled away from her at last needing to see her face and needing the truth.
Chloe focused on her but wasn’t seeing her mother. She wasn’t seeing the woman that was lost all those years. The woman before her was bleeding from the neck, her face was blackened, covered in ash and her right hand was bleeding as it touched Chloe face.
Chloe screamed out in terror. “What…how…” She stumbled back away from her for the far corner of the room. She huddled herself back, staring at the woman that was supposed to be her mother.
“You’re mine now.” The voice that sounded around them was coming from the darkened figure. “You’ll pay her debt to me & then, you will join her.”
Chloe tried to look away but couldn’t, this things was keeping her mother. This thing in front of her was keeping her mother in this place and now she wanted her to join her.
“Mom?” Chloe called out to her slumping down in the corner shielding her eyes as the dark figure started to move closer to her. “Out of the light.” Chloe didn’t know what she was saying but her mother seemed to think it did something. “And into the shadows.”
Her eyes squeezed shut and she was chanting just like her mother was moments ago. She felt a hand touching her hands covering her face and she screamed a second time, scrambling in the corner to get away.
“It’s all right Chloe.” When she looked up the room was bright again and Lex was kneeling next to her.
“What?” Chloe looked behind Lex; her mother was in a corner at the opposite side of the room and still chanting. The doctors were surrounding her, injecting her with something. “Lex, what happened to us?” Chloe looked at him for answers and he had none. “Did you see it? Did you see the dark woman?”
His eyes widened at her words and moved to touch her hand. “No Chloe. No one is here except you and your mother. You were both screaming that Jun was coming then we couldn’t open the door so, I had them break it down.” He looked back at the door and Chloe looked with him to see that it was on the floor. “When we got in you and your mother were both huddled in a corner.”
Lex reached for her, to help her stand, and Chloe accepted his help “Dr. Brunswick, how is she?” Chloe moved past Lex, toward her mother, but was stopped while two nurses worked on getting her sedated body up and into bed.
“I think this was a mistake. This may have been too much too soon. Right now I need to get her mother under control so please leave. The nurse will take you back to my office to retrieve your things and I’ll keep in touch with you.” He turned his back on her and went back to stand over her mother. It didn’t seem to care that Chloe was acting just as her mother had but, she didn’t want to focus on her.
“Chloe, we should go.” Lex was standing behind her as Chloe watched them cover her mother with a blanket.
Something happened, Chloe wouldn’t believe it if she hadn’t seen it. Something was haunting her mother and now it would be doing the same thing to her. This was nothing Chloe had ever dealt with and needed all the help she could get.
She couldn’t deny what she felt and what she saw because Chloe had never been so frightened in all her life. Her body was still shaking from the event.
She turned back to look at Lex. “Well you help me find John Winchester. My mother said he’s the only one that can help.”
If this man was the key to ridding her mother of the nightmare she was living in then she would find him.
Chapter 3 Meet the Winchesters
“Your mine now.”
The voice of Jun Tyler was calling out to Chloe as she tried to sleep. She tossed and turned trying to get the image of the darkened, blood soaked woman out of her mind but it was no use.
“Your mine now.”
Jun’s voice kept uttering the same words to her over and over again. Chloe wanted to open her eyes, needed to open them and get out of the terrifying dream world. There was no use in trying to run away because Jun was trapped inside Chloe’s mind. It was just like being trapped in the room with her mother with the light slowly fading away.
No matter how hard she fought, Chloe couldn’t wake up and the only thing that brought her out of her nightmare was the sound of Lex’s voice calling to her. His hand was always reaching for her; pulling her away from Jun who was coming towards her. As soon as she reached Lex’s hand, in her mind, her eyes would open and she would be free.
Just when Jun was about to touch her, Chloe’s hand finally made it to Lex. He pulled her out of Jun’s path and her eyes flew open. “Lex!” She screamed for him to hold onto her until Chloe realized the dream was over.
It took her a moment but she surveyed the hotel room and realized Jun wasn’t there. She hadn’t seen the woman holding her mother captive in a week. Her dreams were filled with Jun and every time she needed to wake up, Lex was there.
Thankfully he wasn’t in the room when she screamed his name. Lex went back to Smallville and left Chloe behind, in Colorado, to be with her mother for the past week.
She needed help and Lex was offering it so freely. Chloe wanted to look for John Winchester herself but knew Lex’s resources could find him long before she could. It gave her time to spend with her mother and get a better understanding of her condition.
Lex had offered her a place to stay nearby Twin Pines Asylum and he left her the expensive rental car to drive to and from the hospital.
Chloe didn’t like that she was living in manner in which Lex had placed her in. The hotel was far too expensive and the car was really unnecessary but, no matter her objection to his help Lex wouldn’t rescind the offer. He kept saying he owed her more than just a few nights in hotel. Whatever debt Lex thought he owed her, it was still unclear.
After getting oriented again, Chloe slid herself out of bed and padded over to the adjoining bathroom. She tossed some cold water on her face getting back to reality and leaving her dream behind.
She closed her eyes for a moment and Jun was waiting for her behind closed lids. Her lids opened quickly and she wanted to bore the images of the woman out of her mind. Chloe didn’t know if it was her or Jun haunting her dreams but whatever it was she hadn’t sleep a wink that week without thinking of her horrifying face.
Today Chloe wasn’t going to see her mother and was expecting Lex to be back at any moment. Her visits with Moira were brief and all of them were painful. She wasn’t allowed to be alone with her after the first incident. When she was with her a nurse or Dr. Brunswick was in the room. Mostly, they let her observe her over the monitors. When she wasn’t watching her mother, the doctor’s files were open for her to read. In them, she was searching for a clue to understand what was happening to her.
Since her first visit, Moira ’s condition had gotten worse. She was seeing Jun everywhere, all the time and had to be sedated in order to get any sleep. When they were together, she kept telling Chloe that finding John Winchester was the only way to save them both.
Chloe needed a break from the chaos that was her life for a few seconds. She ran a bath in the oversized tube and filled it with the bath salts provide by the hotel. The room had all sorts of complementary odds and ends that she grew to love.
Taking a long soak in the tub, Chloe was hoping to wash away some of her worries. She wanted to leave but leave with her mother at her side. Chloe couldn’t close her eyes for fear of seeing Jun’s face so she laid back, exhausted, with her eyes wide open.
Before turning into a prune she got out of the tub to dress and prepare herself for the news Lex was bringing about John Winchester’s whereabouts.
Chloe was surprised Lex hadn’t gone running when she explained what she saw and what she felt in the room with her mother. Her best explanation was that a spirit or ghost was haunting her mother and would start haunting her. He didn’t run away or tell her she didn’t see what she saw.
Lex simply believed her because of the look in her eyes. It was nothing he’d ever seen from her before. He said he’d seen people scared in his life but never had he seen someone so petrified until that day.
Fully dressed, Chloe had nothing to do but wait for Lex to arrive. She could eat but found it impossible to keep anything down without her stomach turning from thoughts of her mother’s torment. She wasn’t going to get anymore rest but Chloe tried anyway and flopped back on to the bed but didn’t stay long due to the knock at the door. The knock was welcomed and she couldn’t wait to hear what Lex had. Running for the door she didn’t even check to see who it was and swung it open.
“Hello Miss.” A member of the hotel staff was standing there with a cart that was full of food she didn’t order.
“I’m sorry; I think you have the wrong room.” Chloe’s excitement quickly faded away. She was happy to hear that Lex had found something and was looking forward to seeing him again but, it was him at the door.
“Miss, the card says room 510 and the order was placed by…” The man paused and pulled the card from his pocket. “A Mr. Luthor.”
Lex was here and just hadn’t shown himself yet. Chloe waved the man into the room to leave the food when she turned back to thank him, the welcome didn’t come from the server.
“Your welcome.” Chloe turned back to the hall and Lex was standing there with a file folder in hand.
“I was talking to him.” Chloe nodded back to the server, who was already at the door walking out to leave.
She watched Lex hand the man some money and he scurried off. “I thought you could use something to eat.” Lex let himself into the room without being invited but he didn’t have to be invited into a place he was paying for.
“Just coffee for me.” Chloe followed in after him letting the door slam shut.
“You need to eat.” Lex took a seat at the table were the cart was left and dropped the file down on the table.
Chloe wanted to grab the folder and rip through the information but waited until Lex initiated the conversation. “I’m fine, I’ll have a big lunch.” She wasn’t sure why but Chloe felt she had to justify herself to Lex just now. He was taking care of her in so many ways. One of those ways was supporting her through all of this and she wanted to assure him she was okay. Even if it was a lie.
“I would feel better if you at least had some of the fruit. You have to be well in order to help your mother.” He opened the silver platters one by one and the food did look good.
“I won’t fight with you for a change and have a little something.” Chloe sat closest to the cart and dished herself a small amount of the omelet, fruit and pasties.
She took a bite of the buttery croissant and lost sight of what Lex was doing. When she looked up he was staring at her. “What?” She mumbled with part of her food still being chewed.
“You still didn’t sleep?” He handed her a coffee mug then sat across from her at the table. Chloe knew she looked tired but didn’t think it was that obvious. When he called to check in on her that week he could tell she wasn’t sleeping.
“I slept, just not comfortably.” Chloe had yet to admit she was being chased in her dreams by Jun. She didn’t want to make her anymore real then she already was. Nor did she want Lex knowing he was the only thing keeping her from going insane in her dreams.
“Is it the room, because I can have it…” Lex was offering her more and she just had to stop him this time.
“The room is fine. I don’t need anything else.” Her eyes drifted back to file folder and she couldn’t wait any longer. “Expect for you to tell me what’s in the file.”
His fingers pushed the folder over to her side of the table. “The information is yours. I haven’t looked at it yet. I will tell you that there is nothing in there about Jun Tyler. My people have found very little to nothing on her.”
Chloe forgot all about the food in front of her and went for the file. She wanted to know everything about Jun but settled with just leaning about John for now. Her eyes glanced over the first page; it was a synopsis of who John Winchester was.
“It says here that he’s from Lawrence, Kansas. Maybe he knew my mother when we lived in Metropolis.” Chloe didn’t look up to see Lex’s reaction to the information. She was too engrossed in the papers in front of her. “Yes here he did take up residence in Metropolis when I was about two or three it looks like.”
“Do you think he could know Jun as well?” Lex interrupted her thoughts from the file with a key question. If Lex had found so little on Jun then John could be the key to learning more.
“Your right he could.” Chloe nodded at him looking over to his side of the table and he was eating. It was so rare she saw Lex do something like a normal person. With all his wealth it made her wonder if he fed himself at all. It appeared that he did and really enjoyed to eat by how full his plate was.
“What?” He questioned now that she was the one staring at him.
“Nothing.” She kept her desire to snicker at him under her breath. “You’re hungry?”
“I am and I won’t let this go to waste because you refuse to nourish yourself.” He bit down on a pastry and saw Chloe giggling at him. A small smile started to form on his face while Chloe felt a jolt of pain in her body.
She was laughing and having a good time with Lex while her mother was suffering. Her heart started to ache and she felt completely insensitive for enjoying herself after a week of being so focused on what needed to be done with her mother.
Chloe shifted her gaze back to the file to get back at what she was there for. She could laugh when her mother was better. Flipping to the next page of the file, Chloe pointed out more important facts. “It says here he has two boys, Dean and Sam, but his wife died in a fire.” Chloe paused to look at the attached photo of the house his wife died in. It looked like a happy place to live but John had lost so much in that place.
Not wanting to dwell on it for too long Chloe went on with the file and, to her surprise there was a cell phone number on the next page. “ Did your people call this number?”
Lex stopped sipping his coffee searching for the answer. “No, they didn’t inform me of any phone call.”
“Then I’ll call.” Chloe got up from her seat, dying to speak to this man. He was her only hope. She grabbed her cell from the charger on the night stand and dialed the number. It didn’t ring but went straight to voice mail.
“This is John Winchester I can’t be reached. If this and emergency call my son Dean at 866-907-3235. He can help.”
Chloe clicked her phone off. Whoever John was he was gone. The man her mother trusted couldn’t be reached and her eyes were filling with tears. She wanted to let out all the frustration of not being able to help her mother.
She’d been sitting in the hospital watching her waste away. She was sitting in the hotel waiting for Lex to do everything. This week she felt so helpless and the one person that could help couldn’t be reached.
Her eyes closed and the first thing she saw was Jun. Losing site of where she was and everything thing around her Chloe’s eyes flew open and, just like her dream when her eyes opened, Lex was the first thing she said. “Lex!”
She looked over to the table and he wasn’t sitting there. “I’m here.” His hand touched her shoulder in front of her. “What did he say?”
Chloe had to get a grip. This wasn’t a dead end, not yet. “He left a voice mail saying he couldn’t be reached and left a number for his son Dean.”
“Do you want me to call? You seem upset.” She looked over at him; sitting very close to her, studying her reaction to the call. Chloe did feel flushed, on the verge of tears but, pushed them back. Her mother needed her to be strong and she would never help her crying hysterically.
“I can call.” She looked away from him to her cell phone. If she kept staring at him, Chloe feared she would break down. The tender look in his eyes was pleading for her to just let go. Damn Lex and his eyes just kept doing that to her. When he left, he felt guilty for leaving her alone and almost didn’t go. The only thing that made him leave was Chloe assuring him she needed to be there and would be waiting for him to come back.
Cell phone in hand Chloe punched in the numbers to Dean Winchester. The phone rang three times before the husky male voice answered.
“How did you get this number?” It wasn’t a “hello” or anything Chloe was expecting.
She cleared her throat and placed her words careful. “I got the number from your father’s voice mail message.”
She heard some rustling in the background then the sound of loud rock music slowly fading away. “Who the hell is this?” His voice was stern and was like he never had someone call him before.
“If you can help people you really should work on your people skills.” Chloe couldn’t resist the urge to snap at him. “I called looking for a Dean Winchester. If this isn’t him then I’m hanging up. I need help not your attitude” She glanced over to Lex with his face twisted at her in confusion.
“Attitude is a part of the package lady. “ She heard a light chuckle before he went on. “You know me but I don’t know you.”
He was right but she wasn’t sure how much to give away to him. If anything Chloe needed help and this might be it. “Before I tell you about me, I want you to answer a question for me.”
“One question.” He replied then mumbled something as if he was speaking to someone else.
“If I told you I saw a…” Chloe searched for the right word but there wasn’t one and just said what she thought was going on. “A ghost. Would you hang up or would understand?”
“If you told me you saw a ghost then I would want to know if the ghost is haunting you, trying to kill you or driving you insane. No matter the nature of haunting I can get rid of the evil nasty for you.”
His answer was what she needed to hear. This man didn’t think she was crazy and it was the first step to him helping her. “My name is Chloe Sullivan and my mother is being haunted by a woman named Jun Tyler. Recently I saw Jun for the first time and she said that she would do what she did to my mother to me.” Chloe let the truth flood out of her.
“Sammy she said Sullivan.” She heard him mumble but this time she could make out what Dean said. Sammy had to be Sam from the file and John’s other son. “Your mother’s Moira Sullivan?” He replied to her.
“Yes, you know her?” Chloe wanted to jump through the phone but awaited his answer.
“My father did. Her last known whereabouts...” He paused and she heard a second voice which had to belong to Sam. “An asylum in Colorado… Twin Pines.” His voice repeated louder after the lower one.
“Yes, that’s her. You do know her? Can you help her?” Chloe felt her heart beating from her chest needing to hear him say yes. “Can you help me?”
“Where are you?”
“I’m in here in Denver, Colorado.”
“I’m way out of the city limits but we can make it to Denver in…” He paused and started to have a fight with Sam while she was still on the line. “Two days?” He said to her loud to make his point not to her but Sam.
“How will you reach me when you get here?”
“I have your phone number and how can I forget the voice that put me in my place after knowing me less then two seconds.” His voice had hinting tone of flirting on his last statement.
Chloe shrugged off the comment. He was joking not flirting and even if he was, she needed him to help her mother not hit on her. “Then I’ll see you in two days Dean and Sam.”
“You catch on quick.” He ended the call with that and hung up.
“You’ll see who in two days?” Lex asked her almost jumping off the bed waiting for answers.
“Dean and Sam Winchester.” Chloe answered. She had something to look forward to and some kind of progress.
~~~~)~~~~(~~~~

Waiting two more days was agonizing. Chloe was running out of clothes and she was running out of patience for the Winchesters to arrive. They called her yesterday to tell her they were close and needed the address to the hotel.

Lex hadn’t left Colorado like she expected him to. He got a second hotel room and was staying down the hall from her the past two days.

Chloe still wasn’t sleeping. Seeing her mother so lost and alone gave her something new to dream about instead of just the woman haunting her.

That afternoon, Chloe canceled her meeting with Dr. Brunswick to meet the Winchesters. She was fighting to sit still next to Lex in the hotel lobby.

“How will you know it’s them?” Lex asked. He was trying to get her mind off whatever it was making her squirm in her seat.

“He gave me a vague description of how he would look.” Chloe went back to her last talk with Dean remembering what he said. “Handsome guy in a brown leather jacket. He would be with his brother Sam who was taller than him but not as good looking.”

“That’s what he told you?” Lex breathed out through his nose as if he was breathing fire. “He doesn’t sound very professional.”

“I know.” Chloe agreed with him but Dean was all she had. He was all her mother had. She trusted John and he trusted his son, so Chloe was going to work on that. “He didn’t hang up on me when I said ghost so I want to see what this guy has to say before we move on to another dead end.”

“We?” Lex questioned.

She glanced over to him. “Yeah me and you. You’re in this now Lex. You found her for me and have been so much help. We are in this together.”

“Oh” Was all he said and looked like he was getting rather uncomfortable next to her. It was just like on the plane when she was close to him and he suddenly shut down on her.

“I have a question for you.” Chloe needed to get something out of him as to why he was apart of this now. She couldn’t let him leave after being there for her through the worst part of this but needed to know why he was staying.

“Okay.” His response was shaky and unsure that he wanted hear what she had to say.

“Why do you care so much? Not that I’m not thankful for everything that you have done and are doing but why are you doing it?” Chloe studied him while she spoke looking for her answer.

Lex had been so distant with her all year and the incident in the cave drove them further apart but now he wanted in. It appeared he wanted back into her life without explaining why he left in the first place.

“Chloe I…” He paused looking away from her; she could see the tension coiling inside him. “I told you I owe you more then just this.”

“You owe me what Lex? I don’t understand what it is you think you owe me.”

“I don’t really want to get into it. Just know that I want to make up for what I did to you.” He said it in a rush; it was almost as if he was trying to work up to an apology.

“What you did to me?” Chloe honed in on him, leaning over in the sofa to get closer to him as he retreated from her.

“I want you to know how sorry I am…” He paused again, finally looking down at her. “For doing what I did to you in the cave. Nothing I do or say could ever make up for what I did that day.” He eyes closed and opened again as if he was over whelmed. “For what I did to someone I care about.”

Lex wasn’t an open book but he just let go of so much in just a few words. He apologized but Chloe’s focus was on him saying he cared for her. It made no sense because all year he did his best to push her way.

“Care about me?” Chloe started slowly. “If you care so much then why haven’t we spoken in months?”

She waited for his answer; she would be waiting awhile. “Is that him?” Lex pointed towards the hotel entrance when two men walked in; one of them was in a brown leather jacket. Even if she didn’t want to admit it, he was handsome.

“We are going to finish this.” Chloe looked him right in the eye making sure he saw she meant it. This talk was far from over and one they needed to have. Something was happening with him and she would find out what it was.

She jumped up from her chair meeting the two men half way before they could get too far into the hotel. “Are you Dean Winchester?”

“You’re the voice.” He looked her up and down, sizing her up. Chloe felt a little uncomfortable being examined.

She heard the sharp sound of someone clearing their throat and just behind her was Lex. “Are you him or not?” Looking back and forth between the two of them they shared a long stare before Dean answered.

Dean smirked at Lex, as if it was some sort of caveman act, Lex had won for now. ”I’m Dean and this is my little brother Sammy.”

The taller of the two shot a dirty look to Dean then turned his attention to Chloe softening his expression. “I’m Sam.” He held his hand out for her to shake. Chloe took it willingly looking for some assurance that they were the people that could help her. “Even if we don’t look like it, we are here to help you and your mother.”

“Then how do you want to start?” Chloe let go of his hand, ready to find out everything they could do to help. Ready to take the first steps in getting her mother free from the shadows she was hidden in.

Awesome chapter!

Good for Chloe for telling off Dean, and I liked tha Dean recognized that Chloe won't be up with his "sweetheart" shit. That is, unless she wants to;)

Now, how are Dean and Sam going to help Chloe and her mom get away from Jun?

I like how Chloe handled Dean =) I hope he hits on her- I think the'd be an interesting couple and at the very least he can make Lex jealous. I really like how you're depicting Lex and Chloe's relationship- some tension but you can tell he cares. Can't wait to read more!

Chapter 4 Secret Life

When Dean and Sam arrived it was well into the afternoon. Chloe wanted to get started right away and needed to hear everything they knew about what was going on to save her mother and herself. Before anything could be started, Dean suggested that they have lunch.

Chloe wanted to object but she didn’t want to anger the people that were going to help her. Lex insisted the hotel restaurant was the best place; it was a great choice because they didn’t have to wait long for all of them to be seated and for things to start.

It was an interesting first few moments while being seated, watching Lex and Dean eyeball each other over where they were going to sit. Once again, Lex had won the staring match and Dean took the seat next to his brother across from her.

For some reason, it seemed like Dean was deliberately giving Lex a hard time. The thought made her a bit giddy. Even though he was helping her now, Lex did abandon their friendship months ago and it was nice to see him a little flustered.

After ordering, Chloe felt enough time had passed for them to get started with what they knew. She turned her attention to Sam, she wanted answers from him. He seemed like the logical, reasonable one in this pair and wanted to deal with him for now.

“So how did you know my mother was here in Colorado?” She could see Lex in her peripheral vision eyeing her. He looked rather surprised she was so direct but, he didn’t know her anymore after a year of being away.

Sam took a drink of water, placed it down and started. “It’s all in our father’s book.” She watched him pull out a brown leather date book from his side. It didn’t look like much. Paper was sticking out of it and it looked rather worn.

“What’s in this book?” Lex beat Chloe to the follow up question.

“I can’t really say but it helps us along the way.” Sam looked at Dean for agreement on the matter.

“You said there was a ghost right?” Dean leaned in closer to Chloe and she nodded once for him to go on. “The way to get rid of that ghost will most likely be in this book, if this isn’t a typical haunting.”

“So it’s a guide book?” Chloe jumped in before Lex could this time.

“I guess you could say that.” Sam replied to her while flipping through the worn bags of the little book. “Our dad wrote that if Moira Sullivan contacted us we should help her.”

“Is that all?” Lex seemed to want to play tag team with the questions. Chloe didn’t mind if it got her closer to the truth.

“No.” Dean started glaring at Lex as he spoke. “He said she was here in Colorado but wasn’t sure of the exact city. He knew she would be in an asylum. How, I don’t know. He also said that we wouldn’t remember her since we were little when we lived in Metropolis and knew her.”

It was just as Chloe assumed and John did know her mother from Metropolis. “So we could have met before?” Chloe tried to get Dean’s attention back on her. Whatever macho act he and Lex had going had to stop.

“There was this.” Sam handed Chloe what looked like a Polaroid.

Once she had it in her hands she could clearly see herself at age two or three with a boy that was a bit older than her. “Is this…” Chloe questioned but Sam cut in before she could finish.

“That would be me and I assume the little girl is you.” Sam pointed down at the image. “Apparently we played together.”

She was holding hands with him and it looked as if they were out in the city park. Chloe had no memory of this, how could she being so young. It only confirmed that, at one time, her mother trusted John Winchester. Trusted him so much she allowed Chloe to play with his son.

“So they were friends?” Lex cut into the awkward silent moment while Chloe studied the picture.

“I would say more then that.” Dean answered him with a grin. “They worked together.”

Chloe looked away of the photo handing it back to Sam. “Worked together doing what exactly?”

“Do you know anything about your mother’s life Chloe?” Sam seemed confused and his nose wrinkled at her question.

“My mother has been missing for thirteen years. She disappeared when I was six. I only have bits and pieces of memories of her and what little my father told me. So, no, I don’t know anything about my mother’s life.” One could hear the annoyed tone of her voice. She didn’t like the look she was given and didn’t like the idea that her mother seemed to have this other life she never knew about or was never told about.

“We have taken over our father’s business of hunting down…” Sam paused searching for the right word. “…evil things. At one time he went to your mother for help. She taught him a lot about the supernatural and mainly about ghosts.”

Chloe was listening to him but what he said made no sense. Why wouldn’t her father tell her any of this or, maybe, he didn’t know. She didn’t want to believe her mother was being haunted by a ghost but settled into that fact after seeing it.

Her face twisted and contorted in confusion. They were lying, they had to be. Her mother wasn’t involved in something like this. “Are you sure?”

“Its all here in our father’s notes Chloe.” Dean must have seen her discomfort and reached out to touch her handed fisted on top of the table. “He said that Moira was a great help when he first started. She specialized in helping spirits that needed guidance in order to cross over to the other side or those that need to be banished for good.”

Chloe was looking at him right in the eye as he spoke about her mother. When she found her mother again Chloe didn’t know what to expect but this secret life her mother was living had snuck up on her. It was a lot to take on all at once.

She closed her eyes for a moments trying to picture her mother braiding her hair. Her mind focused on how gentle and loving she was. If her mother did love her it made no sense why she left her or her father. Even if she was in trouble, she could have asked her father for help.

When her eyes opened, she was greeted with a warm look from Dean sitting across from her at the table and the sound of Lex clearing his throat. Out of corner of her eye she could see Lex still glaring at Dean.

Chloe’s mother seemed to have more secrets then she was prepared to learn about. “I’m sorry this is a lot to take. I know my mother is being haunted but now you’re telling me she brought this on herself.”

“No one is saying that Chloe.” Sam spoke up nudging his brother back away from her. There was some silent game going on between Dean and Lex. Now, it looked like Sam was going to be playing referee. Sam waited for Dean to move his hand back before he went on. “She helped people and I assume she got in too deep on one of her jobs.”

“How can we be sure that what you’re saying is true?” Lex leaned in close, his voice was all business. Chloe knew he had her best interest at heart. It made no sense for them lie to her. They hadn’t come into this looking for money or telling her anything she hadn’t already assumed.

Her mother had plenty of reason to lie. When she entered her room at the asylum she tried to make Chloe leave. All this time Chloe’s mother was trying to protect her. Somehow, Moira knew Jun would come after her if she knew who she was and that’s why she left. For thirteen years she took on the burden of keeping Jun away from her but now it was time for her to be set free.

“Look we are telling the truth. Why would we show up here and tell her some bullshit story about ghost?” Dean was leaning on the table just as closely as Lex was now.

Lex answered him through clenched teeth and his voice grew deeper. “I don’t know why but if you are lying, you should know who you’re dealing with before you get in too deep.” Looking at the both of them, it was the start of a fight.

“Who am I dealing with then?” Dean remarked full of sarcasm “Because you don’t look like much.”

Lex pushed his chair back, stood up, and made a scene in the restaurant that was thankfully more than empty. She placed her hand on his arm and took control of this before it went too far and someone ended up getting punched.

“Lex, I believe them.” She looked up at him and waited for his attention to be turned back to her. His gaze shifted down but his face hadn’t softened. “We didn’t tell them about my mother living in Metropolis. We didn’t tell them her name, they told me. I think they are here to help and nothing more.”

“She’s right.” Sam added trying to ease Lex back as well. “We just want to help.” He tuned to Dean and rolled his eyes at him before looking at Chloe. “We both want to help.”

Lex took a moment to adjust the jacket of the suit he was wearing and took his seat. “Do tell how you plan on helping Chloe then.” His tone had softened but, she could still see the tension coiled in his body.

“First, we need to hear what the nature of the haunting is. Maybe even see Moira for ourselves.” Sam answered while Dean slouched back in his chair.

“No, you can’t see her.” Chloe didn’t want anyone else near her mother. There was no telling what could happen to Sam or Dean. The last two doctors that tried to help her were both punished for it. “She’s not in any condition to see anyone. If you have questions, you can ask me.”

“It would really help if we could talk to her.” Sam protested.

“I’m sorry but I won’t allow it besides, the doctor has heavily restricted access to her. She’s being sedated in order to get through the day. She can’t talk to you; she can’t talk to anyone right now. If you have questions ask me. I have all her files and have basically memorized everything about her case.”

Chloe cringed thinking of her mother lying in bed alone while she was there in the hotel restaurant. She’d seen her every day since they arrived in Colorado and, even though she was so lost and they really couldn’t connect, it was hard not being with her right at that moment.

“Okay then, tell us what you know.”

Chloe nodded once and started her story of what happen when she saw her mother. She let them know how her mother’s condition got worse over the years. They both didn’t flinch when she told them about what happened to the doctors. The first one going insane and the death of the second seemed to roll off them like nothing.

She went over how the light left the room, how the shadows crept around her and her mother, then suddenly her mother turned into Jun. She repeated the chant her mother used and they told her it was to ward off Jun’s attack. She did her best to tell them about Jun’s appearance and made sure not to close her eyes for fear of seeing her.

The food arrived and Lex was going over what was happening while he was out in the hall. He made it clear that the door didn’t open and wouldn’t open until he took it off its hinges. Chloe could still hear him screaming for her.

All this talk of Jun Tyler and Chloe’s dream was starting to run through her mind. She pushed her plate back and didn’t think food was the way to go at that moment.

“Have you seen her since?” Chloe’s desire not to eat was enhanced by watching Dean speak to her with a mouth full of food.

“No, not since the first time.” Chloe answered then Lex cut in quickly.

“She hasn’t been sleeping.” He was trying to help but Chloe didn’t want them to know.

“Have you been having nightmares?” Sam asked.

Chloe didn’t want to answer this. Her dreams weren’t getting worse but she didn’t want to admit that she needed Lex to get her out of them. If she lied, it could delay helping her mother. Before she answered she needed to know how important it was for them to know the truth. “Can ghost haunt you in your dreams?”

Sam nodded once before he went on. “There are some cases of ghosts getting to people in their subconscious while they are sleeping.”

“Do some of these cases cause harm to the person being haunted?”

Sam looked at Dean and the answer couldn’t be good. Dean nodded once and Sam went on with the answer. “Yes, there are some cases of stroke.”

Chloe’s eyes widened at the thought of having a stroke in her sleep. She had to tell them the truth now.

Her hands clasped together in her lap under the table. This was the hardest talk she ever had with anyone. “I see her…” She started and stopped when she felt Lex’s hand covering hers. He seemed to know when she needed him the most. Dean held her hand a moment ago but this was different. Chloe felt her heart beat a little fast when he touched her but she was calmer the before. “I have nightmares about Jun.”

“What is she doing to you?” Dean asked. Both of them seemed eager to ask the questions and jump in before the other.

“She’s chasing me.” Chloe moved her hand around Lex’s in her lap and squeezed it. She remembered that hand was what got her away from Jun night after night.

“How do you wake up?” This time Sam won.

“In a cold sweat, gasping, terrified, I could go on.” Chloe didn’t mean to be rude but the interrogation was getting to her.

“I’m sorry that’s not what I meant.” Sam shook his hand no and honestly looked sorry for upsetting her. “Is anyone there with you? Your mother? Anyone helping you get away from her.”

“Is it important if someone is there? She’s after me the whole time.” Chloe didn’t want to let them know that Lex was helping her in her dreams. This trip was so strange with him and things seemed out of place for the both of them since he started to help.

“It could be important later. If something or someone is helping you get away from Jun then it could be a defense against her, just like your mother’s chant you told us about.” Sam was being the caretaker in all this. His eyes were low and his voice was calm and steady. Chloe could see who the people person was in this pair.

She swallowed hard, then turned to look at Lex who had stopped eating and was staring at her. His hand was clutching her own, he was really there to help her. She could see the look in his eyes and for the first time in a long time she could see his words were true; Lex did care about her.

“Lex is there for me.” She turned her attention away from him feeling too much looking into his eyes. “His hand reaches out to me and he pulls me away from her then, I wake up.” Lex’s hand tightened at her words. It felt the same way when she needed to wake up. It was almost as if he was silently saying he would be there when she needed him.

“Well then.” Dean said and pushed his plate aside. “Since he was the first thing you saw after the attack, it could be why you dream about him.”

“No I don’t think that’s it.” Sam interrupted. “Lex may be assuring Chloe that she is safe. When he’s around Jun loses her hold on Chloe. We can use that against Jun later if we have to.”

“It’s a theory little brother.” The pair of them shared a look and Chloe broke the silence.

“Now you know what I know so, what’s your theory?”

“It sounds like your run of the mill haunting but this lady has got a vendetta against your mother. It sounds like your mother may have tried to help Jun move on and Jun wasn’t interested.” Dean looked to Sam for approval. “I say we salt and torch the bones.”

Sam frowned and seemed to be looking inward for a moment. “We need to find out more about Jun first. If your mother was working the case in which Jun was killed she would have research on her.”

“I don’t have anything like that.” Chloe looked to Lex.

“We have found little to nothing on Jun Tyler.” Lex added.

“Have you asked your father?” Dean looked to Chloe and the thought never occurred to her.

She wanted to keep Gabe as far from this as possible. “No, he doesn’t even know I’m here now.”

“Then we should talk to him.” Sam finished the last bit of his sandwich after he answered, it looked like they might have to go to Smallville.

“He never told me about her secret life before why would he tell me now?” Chloe didn’t see the point. Gabe had kept all this from her for years, there was no reason he would just start spilling it all now.

“Chloe we are left with few options here.” Lex jumped into the fight. “If my people aren’t able to find anything then maybe your father is the next best thing.”

“He’s right.” Dean added. “Your dad may have kept it from you to protect you and there is no reason to do that now seeing as how Jun is after you too.”

Chloe let go of Lex’s hand then sighed long and deep. If her father knew all about her mother’s secret life, it could be what saves them both. “I should call him and tell him we are coming. He might remember the two of you.”

Lex moved his hand away when he felt her let go. She could see the disappointment in his face but pushed it back as nothing. Her mother was to come first in all this, not Lex’s strange behavior.

“I’ll call to prep the jet.” Lex announced and reached for his cell phone in his suit pocket.

“Jet!” Dean questioned with his voice hitching up in tone at the end. “As in airplane?”

~~~~)~~~~(~~~~
After a few moments of conniving, Chloe was sitting in the Luthor Corp jet once again. This time she was a lot less nervous than she had been before but still worried about what was going to happen.
She called her dad and it was a rough conversation to have. There was no mention to him of Dean and Sam. She would save that as a surprise when they got there. It was to corner him and Chloe hated using such a tactic on her father but they need answers. She told him she found her mother and that they needed to talk. Gabe was less then pleased with the news but by the end of the phone call he was just glad to hear Moira was alive after all those years of being away.
Chloe glanced over the cabin and Lex was sitting across from her like before with Sam next to him. It wasn’t exactly where he wanted to sit. When they all boarded the jet, Dean rushed to the sit in the seat near Chloe and Lex walked in behind him a slow second.
Lex was giving so much, and not just his money, to help her right now. Chloe couldn’t let herself wonder what Luthor Corp business he was leaving unattended. She wondered if he even called the past few days to check on Lionel’s condition. Lex was giving up so much of his time to be there with her right now. Chloe didn’t want to get ahead of herself but it looked as if he was trying to repair their, once dead, friendship.
She looked across to Dean, his leg was jittering like a junkie waiting for his next fix. Sam made a comment about him being afraid of flying and Dean excused himself for a moment. Chloe assumed they had a little brotherly banter but he returned, ready to go. It took some doing but Dean expected Lex’s offer of having their car driven into the city. For some reason he couldn’t leave the thing behind and it had nothing to do with his fear of flying.
“Are you all right?” Chloe questioned him getting his attention off the sky outside of the window. He was staring out the tiny window for the last twenty minutes since take off.
“I’m fine.” He said clearing his throat once.
“Remember to breathe.” Sam shouted out to him from across the cabin with a snicker.
“Thank you Sammy.” Dean yelled back to him with a hint of anger in his voice.
Chloe couldn’t help but giggle at a grown man afraid of flying. “You know more people die…” She wasn’t allowed to finish the statistic because Dean cut in.
“In car accidents then they do in plane crashes.” He said mockingly.
“I was just trying to help.” Chloe finished with a grin.
“Thank you but I think I can handle it.” He looked back to the window and Chloe saw a shift in his expression. He was no longer shaking his leg and his eyes weren’t cringing in fear. Dean put his attention back to her and leaned in close to where she was sitting. “Can I ask you question?”
It appeared he was turning on some sort of charm that Chloe could see right through but she indulged him all the same. “Okay, one question.”
His voice was at a whisper and his question startled her a bit. “How long have you and money bags been dating?” He finished with a smirk and Chloe wanted to slap it off his face.
She leaned in to meet him half way and lowered her voice to his level. “We aren’t together, we are just friends but, if we were I sure as hell wouldn’t tell you about it.” Chloe leaned back in her chair arms folded over her body in defense.
Even though he was pissing her off, this was keeping her mind off of the things that had been plaguing her for the week. For a few moments she wasn’t worried about her mother, Jun coming after her again or Lex’s confusing actions towards her.
“It was a valid question.” Dean was still leaning over in his seat and grinned at her, waiting for her to take the bait.
It wasn’t impossible for Chloe to back down from this but she went in, head first, leaning back towards him. “Explain to me how it was a valid question.”
“Well…” He stated matter-of-factly. “The way he keeps looking over here for one thing would tip me off that he’s not too happy that I’m sitting with you.”
Chloe eyes squinted; she hadn’t noticed Lex’s glances during the flight. Her head peaked to the side; he was in fact looking right at them. Quickly jerking her head away she sat back in chair. It didn’t mean anything, he was just worried about Dean for some reason and that’s why he was looking.
“So what? It doesn’t make your question valid.” Chloe huffed out.
His finger curled for her to come back into the lowered position. She ignored it. “Okay I’ll just say it out loud.” He was about to open his mouth but Chloe didn’t want Lex’s attention draw to the conversation about him.
She leaned forward and slanted her eyes at him. “What?”
“I was just going to say I can prove my theory.” He whispered to her.
“How?” Chloe whispered back, a little interested in finding out how much Lex truly cared about her.
“When I touched your hand at lunch he was about to punch me.” Dean reminded her of Lex’s outburst but she didn’t see that as the trigger. His anger came from Dean’s bad attitude and nothing more.
They had been glaring at each other since the Winchesters arrived. “That had nothing to do with me. You were baiting him since you arrived.”
“Maybe or maybe he just got jealous that someone was touching something that he deems his.” Dean darted a quick look back then turned his attention back to Chloe.
Her eyes were full of anger and her skin was starting to blush a bright pink color. He was making assumption and making her look like a fool. She wasn’t Lex Luthor’s possession and didn’t want to be. “He doesn’t own me. He may be helping me with all of this but Lex Luthor is not my keeper.”
“That may be the case but I can see he wants to be.” Dean’s whispered ended with a chuckle.
He wasn’t funny or charming and Chloe wanted this talk over. “How are you going to prove any of this to me and why are you going to prove it for that matter?”
“Well first off if I’m going to keep flirting with you….”
Chloe interrupted before he could go on with a laugh. “You call this flirting?”
“You think you’re pissed off at me but I see that hint of curiosity behind your eyes.”
Chloe covered her mouth before she burst into laugher. They only met a few hours ago and he thought he could read her so well. “I’ll let you think what you will but trust me its not curiosity your seeing.”
Chloe leaned closer to him, grinning on the way down locking eyes with him. Dean seemed to think this was some seductive move and smirked at her as she got just about to his ear. “The hint of something you see behind my eyes is...” She took in a deep breath and heard him do the same. She let it out slowly and finished the thought. “…is anger.”
She leaned back to see his reaction and his grin was now a blank stare. “No matter, just give it time. Anger is good for passion.” He adjusted his positions and started with his plan. “I can still prove to you that Mr. Luthor isn’t looking to help just because he’s a friend.”
“Fine show me.” Chloe was going to do this. Dean thought he was so smart and she would let him prove it only to watch him fall flat on his face.
“I have to touch you again.” He reached his hand out to her.
Chloe nudged his hand away. “No, I don’t think so.”
His grin grew into a smile and he reached out again. “I’m a gentleman, don’t worry.” He moved his fingers to the strands of hair hanging down in her face and pushed them back. “I just need him to see me touching you and I promise he’ll be over her asking me for a chat in a few seconds.”
Chloe let his hand move behind her ear taking her hair with them and they locked eyes. His dark eyes soften some and he was no longer being cocky and condescending. His fingers stroked the line of her jaw and moved back to her cheek while they looked at each other. It was like she was under some trance and Chloe licked her lips as if she was preparing for a kiss, moistening the top then the bottom slowly.
Dean seemed to see the hint and moved in closer to her, whispering to her once more. “You really do have beautiful eyes.”
Chloe keep her eyes on him and didn’t look away from him getting closer to her during the tender moment but suddenly it all stopped. She could feel someone standing next to them. Out the corner of her eye she could make out the dark pants Lex had put on that morning.
She leaned back and looked up at him. “Is everything all right Lex?’ Chloe tried to talk to him as normal as possible but she could see he was angry. His hands were fisted at his sides and his knuckles looked white from the pressure.
Lex was focused completely on Dean now sitting back in his chair smiling ear to ear. “Everything is fine Chloe. I just want a word with Mr. Winchester.”
“Sure thing…” Dean looked to her as he undid his seat belt. “…friend.” She watched him following Lex to the back of the plane then saw the curtain shut behind them.
Something happen just now and it wasn’t just the long stare she shared with Dean. If Chloe hadn’t gone completely mad by then she could read Lex so well at that moment.
He was jealous.
Chloe ran her fingers through her hair and couldn’t believe it. It appeared her mother wasn’t the only one living a secret life and keeping it from her. Lex was living a secret life as well, hiding his true feelings for her. The thought of another secret coming to light made Chloe’s stomach drop and her heart pound.
It only meant her secret life would be revealed very soon.
Excellent update!
So Chloe's mom has some sort of supernatural ability--that's pretty cool.
I wonder what Lex is going to say to Dean? A jealous Lex can be rather dangerous, and now Chloe knows that Lex has feelings for her--this is also awesome.
Chapter 5 Protection
As the evening approached, Chloe found herself standing at her front door. Her father was waiting alone inside for her while she stood outside far from being alone. After what seemed like the longest flight known to man they landed in Smallville.
After Dean’s little game, the rest of the plane ride was in silence. Dean and Lex had their talk in the back of the plane and both of them returned as if nothing happened. The blank look on their faces was unnerving. They were just discussing her and they both took their seats as if nothing happened.
Chloe asked Dean what was said but he waved the question off as an exchange between friends and there was no need for her to be concerned. The comment was infuriating after what he did by stirring things up.
She was also a little taken a back by how easily he almost kissed her. If Lex hadn’t walked by Chloe was certain they would have kissed. The idea was unsettling but at the time it seemed like the right thing to do.
The rest of plane ride she kept her head down and away from either of them. She didn’t want anymore attention drawn to the fact that Lex was jealous and she was somewhat happy about it. Both men were a puzzle that would have to wait to be solved.
Her secret was still intact but Lex’s was waving about free in the wind. Right now at the front door of the town house she shared with her father, her mother’s secrets were her concern.
Chloe had her key ready to open the door but had to say something first. She turned to find Lex right behind her while Dean and Sam were just behind him. “I just want it clear that we are not going to interrogate my father. I don’t want him to feel like this is an ambush.”
“But this is an ambush.” Dean added with a smirk.
Her eyes couldn’t be stopped from rolling at him. Lex took the last few steps to stand closer to her as she made her silent protest to Dean’s comment. “Everything will be fine.” Lex’s calming voice was what she needed but his sweetness was reminding her about what Dean said.
Lex wanted her but he wasn’t telling her and it didn’t seem like he ever would.
Chloe smiled quickly and turned her gaze away from him. “I’m serious. Treat my dad with respect.” Her words were directed right at Dean.
Sam moved in behind Lex. “We both understand Chloe.”
She nodded once and went back to unlock the door. Opening it slowly she could hear her father stirring inside the house. “Honey is that you?” Gabe’s voice sounded from behind the door and when it was completely opened he was standing right there.
“Hi daddy.” Chloe tried to appear as chipper and upbeat as possible as her father’s eyes settled on the three men behind her.
“Lex? Who? What?” His short questions ran together looking at all of them standing at the door. She didn’t want to do this to him but for thirteen years he was keeping things from her, things that could have saved her mother years ago. Today he would have to tell her everything.
Gabe couldn’t protect her forever.
“Dad, I promise to explain everything to you but you have to let us in the house.” Chloe nudged him aside and was followed in by what she was going to refer to as the boys.
She heard the boys saying their hellos to her father as Chloe walked in to take a seat in the family room. She sat on the large sofa in the room and was joined by Lex. Sam and Dean followed suit to take a seat on the love seat while her father was the last to take a seat.
“Dad I want you to meet Sam and Dean.” She paused and looked for some sort of reaction from him and got nothing. “Sam and Dean Winchester.” She added then got the reaction look she was waiting for.
Gabe’s eyes widen and he cleared his throat before speaking. “John’s boys?”
“Yes sir, John is our father.” Dean answered him and he was actually doing as she asked.
“I want you boys out of my house.” Gabe stood up from the arm chair he was sitting in and moved for the front door.
Chloe didn’t know what was going on but she wasn’t going to get rid of the people that could save her mother and herself. She walked behind him quickly taking hold of his arm to stop him from leaving the room “Dad they are here to help mom. Why would you want them to leave?”
He looked at her with deep concern; concern that she only saw once in her life. The day they took the ride to the safe house, before Lionel’s trial, Gabe looked so concerned for her and he was looking that way again.
Gabe’s hand covered her own. “I just want to protect you from all of this.”
“But you can’t dad. Whatever happened to mom, whatever made her leave us; it’s not just after her anymore.” Chloe saw her father’s fears coming to life.
His body seemed to go tense and his arms pulled her close to him. “Not you too. I can’t lose you.” She could hear him on the verge of tears.
The simple plea told Chloe what she needed to know. Her father knew more about her mother’s life then he wanted to tell her. “Dad, that’s why they are here, to help me.”
“She’s right sir. We just want to help get this thing.” Sam was behind them and Chloe hadn’t notice him being wrapped in her father’s arms.
“If it’s after you, then I failed.” Gabe pulled back and looked at her. “I did what your mother asked me to do but now I can see I failed.”
“You didn’t fail dad.” Chloe didn’t understand what he was trying to tell her and it was time he explained. “Please sit and tell us what you know.”
He nodded once and moved back to the arm chair he was sitting in. Chloe found Sam behind her. Sam quietly sat back in the love seat with Dean and started what wasn’t an interrogation but seemed so much like it. “Sir, if you know our father, then you know what we do.”
Chloe sat with Lex doing what he had done best since this started. His face was stern and his demeanor was calm, keeping Chloe centered on what was happening.
“The last time I saw you Sam, you and Chloe were thick as thieves. I used to think that you two would be friends for a long time until John up and moved out of Metropolis.” Chloe studied her father as he spoke, validating the picture of her and Sam. “The two of you would laugh all the time. Most of the time I had no idea what you laughing about.” He chuckled a little at the memory.
“What about me?” Dean questioned.
“You were older and I think the fact that Chloe was a girl bothered you. Mostly you would pull her hair and make her cry then she would kick you. You two didn’t get along.” Gabe just defined how things were going with Dean now. He was annoying when they were kids and he was annoying now.
Chloe looked at Dean; he was already looking at her. “I guess we still like to fight.” He said with a smirk.
“Mr. Sullivan, what was the nature of John and Moira ’s relationship.” Lex interrupted the trip down memory lane and got them back to the matter at hand.
Gabe shifted in his seat and his eyes settled on Sam and Dean. “Your father wanted to know everything about ghosts. At the time, Moira was slowing down her work. She wanted to spend more time with Chloe and I as a family. After years of wanting her to say that to me, John Winchester came knocking on our door.”
“She worked with our father then?” Sam was on the edge of his seat. He seemed eager to hear more about his father’s life; as if he didn’t know him. Chloe had no idea how it was for him growing up in a world where ghosts, and other bad things, were a common occurrence.
Gabe sighed long and deep before he answered. “Yes, she and John worked several jobs before he took off with you two. Your mother had a gift for banishing ghosts and John wanted to know all about it. Once he got what he wanted, John skipped town never to be heard from again.”
“How did she get involved in any of this dad?” Chloe felt a chill go up her spine at the thought of Chloe’s mother chasing a ghost like Jun.
“Honey, there are so many things I haven’t told you about your mother.” Gabe moved from his seat to sit next to her. He took her hand and started the story that she wanted to hear for years.
“When I meet your mother she had a secret. She would disappear for a few days and she wouldtell me that it was her job, that she had taken over the family business and was an ancient dealer. At first it all seemed to make sense so I asked her to move in with me and she did. We were happy and when she came home from trips I had what I wanted. Then I noticed the bruises.”
“Bruises?” Chloe squeezed his hands, willing the words out of him. The boys stayed quiet. They all seemed to know she needed to be in control of this and kept quiet.
“Yes, she would have gashes on her head or a scratch on her arms. Once, she had a burn on her shoulder and that was it for me. I loved your mother, I wanted to marry her and make a life with her but there was this one thing keeping us from truly being together. I told her I would leave if she didn’t tell me the truth, so she finally did.” His eyes drifted away and Chloe was so worried about herself that she forgot how hard this was for her dad.
Her free hand took his hand in hers. “It’s all right dad, you don’t have to hide this anymore.”
“She said.” He started and stopped again. Gabe swallowed hard before he could go on. “She said I hunt ghosts. Then I laughed.”
“Most people do.” Dean added.
“Yes, but she wasn’t joking. The look in her eyes was one I’d never seen. She told me she had a gift and it was one she couldn’t ignore. Her mother had it and she taught her how to use it. Moira said she can feel them.” Gabe looked lost now. He was holding in so much.
“She could feel them?” Chloe looked to Sam and Dean for the answers; she could see her dad needed a break.
“She’s some kind of seer?” Dean spoke up pulling their father’s worn notebook from inside his jacket. He flipped the pages quickly until he found what he wanted. “Yes, it’s right here. Sam how did you miss this?”
“Miss what? Dad didn’t mention anything about her being a seer.” Sam took the book from him staring at the page blankly.
“Look right there, the two eyes drawn in red.” Dean took the book from him and flipped it around so the rest of them could see. He pointed down to the two eyes he spoke of. “My dad used all sorts of codes and a pair of red eyes means seer. Your mother can sense ghosts, she might even dream about them. She can tell how they died and talk to them when no one else can. Sometimes if a haunting is strong enough, the seer might relive their death if they are close enough to where the person died.”
“Dad is that true?” Chloe turned back to her father and he nodded once.
“That’s what she told me then she showed me her books. She had written down the things she would dream about, things she saw, people she helped and people she had to banish. Your mother was good at what she did.”
Gabe released her hand and told her something she never knew. “I left her after she showed me. I thought she had gone insane and I didn’t know what to do. I left her for three days before coming home. For three days I thought about the things I read in her books and what she said. I couldn’t think of one reason not to go ahead with my plan to marry her. Moira wasn’t crazy and she wasn’t lying to me. She helped people and the thought made me love her more.”
“So you came home and what happened?” Chloe saw the guilt in his eyes for leaving her. Her mother exposed her life to him and he ran out on her. There was no reason for him to be guilty. What happened couldn’t be easy for anyone to deal with.
“I came home and I apologized for leaving then she said that I needed to see it in order to believe it and she took me out on a job. I was terrified but your mother knew exactly what to do. The family she helped thanked her a hundred times before we went home and I saw her for the first time. This was and important part of her life and I finally saw your mother for who she was.”
“You married her even though she lied to you?” Lex’s question came out of nowhere. Chloe looked back at him and he was staring at her as he spoke.
“Yes, forgiveness is a great gift.” Gabe replied. “If I didn’t forgive her wouldn’t have spent so many wonderful years with her. I wouldn’t have Chloe.”
Chloe was still looking at Lex when her father answered. “Your right, forgiveness is priceless.” Lex said and his eyes were on her as if he was asking her for forgiveness.
All of Lex’s strange behavior had to be about him asking for forgiveness. He said he owned he more then this after what happened in the caves but what that was still wasn’t clear. Chloe had to look away, now wasn’t the time to talk about it.
Her mother’s books were what mattered now. They could have the answers they sought about Jun Tyler.
“Dad do you know Jun Tyler?” Chloe looked at him staring away from her.
“Yes.” He answered and that’s all he said.
All this time Jun was torturing her mother and Gabe knew about it. Chloe couldn’t believe that all this time he kept this secret. She wanted him to say no. She wanted him to offer them the books, not to tell her that he knew her mother’s tormentor and did nothing about it.
Chloe didn’t come into this angry but now she was. “How could you do that? How could you know John, and what he could do, and not look for him dad. Mom was going crazy and you let it happen and did nothing to stop it. Jun could have been stopped years ago if you did something.” Chloe didn’t realize she was yelling but her voice grew louder as she spoke.
“I did what I had to do.” Gabe reached out for her hand again but, Chloe wasn’t going to let him take it.
She jerked back bumping into Lex on the way. “Don’t you dare tell me you did what you had to do? I saw mom, she’s so lost right now and she doesn’t have to be. You could have done something.” Chloe wanted out of the room. She needed to clear her head of all of this.
Too many lies had caught up to her. She moved from her seat and tried to get to her room but Gabe stopped her. “You wait a minute young lady.” He grabbed her arm stopping her from leaving.
They stood together; fighting in front of the boys like they weren’t even there. “Whatever you have to say, I don’t want to hear it. I want mom’s books and I’ll take care of the rest.”
Gabe looked down at her and let go of her arm. “I won’t apologize for not looking for John. I made a promise and I kept it.”
Her eyes narrowed and made Chloe did need to hear this. “A promise?’
“Your mother tried to stop Jun. She was killing people and she did her best but Jun latched on to her somehow. Your mother wouldn’t explain it to me or let me help her. She said she had to leave because Jun would come for you next. She made me promise that I would take care of you. I wouldn’t let you find her once she was gone.”
Gabe’s hands moved over her hair, looking at his daughter lovingly. “She didn’t want you to know you had it too. That you would start seeing things the way she did one day. She didn’t want what was happening to her to ever happen to you. So I promised to keep you away from the paranormal world. I promised her I wouldn’t let you look for her but over the years it was impossible to stop you. Now Jun is doing it to you isn’t she? I was supposed to protect you and I failed.”
“But you loved her, why didn’t you try to save her?” Chloe’s voice had softened and she was calming down. How could she stay angry at him? Her father was her protection and he felt like a failure now because Chloe had to know the truth.
“I had a six year old who needed me more. John didn’t want to be found but your mother went looking for him anyway. She would call at first but, as time went on, the haunting got worst and your mother disappeared. I could have dropped everything and went after her but I made a promise. My little girl needed me and I wasn’t about to leave you because I was all you had. I couldn’t let you lose us both.”
Chloe was crying now and couldn’t stop. She did need someone in her life and was thankful that her father was there for her. If she lost them both she had no idea where her life would be and didn’t want to know. Her arms wrapped around him and she pulled her father into and embrace.
She was sobbing into his shirt while he tried to comfort her. “I just want you to be safe. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you any of this before. I had to protect you.”
They both needed this moment; it was all out between them now. Chloe let herself be a child a little while longer and savored the hug her father was giving her. He rocked her slowly saying how much he loved her and how proud he was of her. It was hard to hear and it hurt like hell but Gabe had helped them. He told them what they needed to know.
Once Chloe got herself together, Gabe told her he had the books and Jun’s story had to be in them but he never looked at Moira ’s request. He went for them and left Chloe alone with the boys. They didn’t speak but they all looked very worried about her.
Chloe didn’t think of them and looked inward for a moment. Her mother didn’t want her to know what she could do because Chloe might be able to do it too. She thought back to what Dean said about a seer and tried to think of a time when she felt anything like what her mother had.
Her mind focused on her nightmare of Jun and that was the only thing she could think of. She resolved that maybe she wasn’t a seer but Chloe didn’t know how wrong she was.
“Here are the books.” Gabe returned to the room with a large, worn box with Moira ’s name on it. She’d never seen the box before and wondered how he kept it from her all these years.
Chloe stood over the box and opened it slowly to find several composition books. She pulled out one; it wasn’t dated or marked in anyway. She flipped the pages and none of it made much sense to her. “Dad how do you…” Her question was cut short by he father.
“Honey your mother is the only that can make sense of these. You’ll have to go through all of them.”
“We will go through them.” Dean spoke; getting up from his seat and looked at the books.
“We need space to spread these out.” Chloe mumbled while flipping though a second book.
“Then we should take them to the manor.” Lex replied.
The suggestion was a good one. If they needed space, the manor was definitely spacious. “Thank you Lex.” Chloe looked back at him as he moved towards her.
“We should get started.” Dean grinned at her as she picked up the box.
Chloe said a few words to her dad before heading out and at the door she was followed by Lex. Sam and Dean had loaded the box into the car and were already seated in the car.
“Lex.” Gabe called out to him before he could move through the door.
“Yes, sir.” There wasn’t a time when Chloe saw Lex call her father by his name. He always referred to him as sir no matter how many times he told him not to.
“You found my wife?” Chloe heard her father’s question and stopped moving towards the car Lex had driven to her house.
“Yes, sir I did.” Lex’s back was to her but she could hear every thing they were saying.
“Thank you and now I need you to do one more thing for me.” Chloe didn’t know what was going on but her father was still trying to protect her. “You saved my daughter once and you told me you would never let anything happen to her when we were in hiding. I need you to tell me now you’re still going to do that. If Sam and Dean are half the man their father was I’m sure they will do their best to help her but you know Chloe better then they do. I would feel better knowing you’re protecting her again. ”
“You have my word. I’ll do everything I can to keep her safe.” Lex and Gabe shared a look and then her father went back into the house. Chloe watched Lex turn to look at her, staring at the two of them intently. She didn’t move from her spot and watched him walk towards her. “Is that all right with you, me protecting you?”
He looked at her as Chloe’s heart was pounding a little. Her father just handed her protection over to Lex. He didn’t know what happen during the meteor shower and if she had her way he never would. Gabe knew how hard Lex worked to keep her safe from Lionel and trusted him enough to do it again.
“It’s all right with me. Just don’t think this means you can take charge or anything.” Chloe wanted to stop the hard beating of her heart and thought a minor jab at Lex would do it.
“I wouldn’t dream of crossing you Miss Sullivan.” Lex moved closer to her leaning down to her ear. “I hope this means you forgive me.” He moved back away from her and the tenderness in his eyes had returned.
The sound of his voice in her ear didn’t help her poor heart and it started to beat even faster. Lex was so confusing but now wasn’t the time to talk about it.
There was never the right time to talk about it.
Chloe tested the boundaries between them and moved close to him, resting her head in his chest. Lex took the gesture for what it was and his arms wrapped around her. She could feel his heart and it was beating just has hard and fast as hers..
“I forgive you.” Chloe mumbled muffled in his dress shirt. After she spoke she heard him sigh long and deep as if he was relieved to be forgiven. His arms tightened around her and the hug was lasting long then she expected.
There was no reason for her not to forgive him. Lex had made a mistake and they could talk about it later but right now, for him to truly be there for her, they needed to do this. They never touched this much before but now it seemed like they both need this lingering embrace. They need to move past what happen in caves and what happen last year if they were working together again.
Just as Chloe thought they were getting somewhere, Lex pulled away from her quickly. “We should get going.” He went for the car without looking back. For some reason when they got close or started really talking Lex would pull away. For now it would have to wait and the warm feeling he just gave her would have to be pushed back.
Her mother’s books held the key to the mystery of Jun Tyler and they would solve it.
Wonderful update.
So Chloe's mom is a seer, and Chloe herself might have the gift as well--COOL!!
I don't blame Gabe for being freaked out--finding out that someone you love has paranormal abilities is quite strange. And he did the right thing--Chloe needed a constant in her life, especially at six years old. Her mom was gone, so her dad became even more important to her.
I liked that Gabe trusts Lex with Chloe's life, but when is Lex going to admit his feelings for Chloe?
Woohoo you updated and I loved it.
Chloe might be a seer thats cool. I am glad Gabe asked Lex to protect Chloe like he did before. Chloe needs to make Lex sit down and discuss how he feels about her but will he confess all or will he deny everything???
I can't wait for the next part to find out :)
Chapter 6 The Sight
If things didn’t get better soon Chloe might have to consider giving up. She and the boys were still going through her mother’s books and there was still no mention of Jun Tyler in them.
In Lex’s study, Chloe had set herself up on the floor with several books spread out around her. Sam and Dean had taken a stack of their own and sat on the leather sofa in the center of the room.
Everything about the evening was a blur. At some point, Lex had ordered them food and she ate but didn’t really remember doing it. Dean’s car arrived and he rushed out of the room to check on it before coming back to work.
After about six solid hours of reading, Chloe had learned a few things about the way her mother’s books were written. She would detail a case she was working and, once the ghost was taken care of, she would write how it was done. A few pages in between jobs she wrote about random dreams she had. The dreams were disturbing and Chloe wondered how her mother ever slept.
The problem with her research was that she didn’t date a thing. There were general times when the person died that she was helping but other then that the years were all over the place. It was as if she wrote things down in the heat of the moment in order to get them down as quickly as possible.
Somewhere, four hours in to researching, Lex had to leave. He didn’t want to leave and even argued with Chloe about not really needing to but he had been away from Smallville for so long that his messages had piled up. No matter how Lex appeared to be with her, he was still a wealthy business man and his affairs had to be taken care of.
She assured him that his help was not needed and it was okay if he had to take care of a few things for a few hours. There was no mention of the hug and he keep his distance as he was about to leave. It was like he would never tell her what was going on with him.
He left and said he wouldn’t be long, that was two hours ago.
Chloe had kicked her shoes off a long time ago and was lying on her belly on the ancient rug on the floor. The last story she read was about a woman that killed her children unknowingly. She was abused by her husband and cheated on constantly. The woman’s spirit haunted men and if they proved unfaithful she would kill them.
Chloe slammed the book close once she learned the woman’s name wasn’t Jun Tyler. “Damn it.” She groaned tossing the book aside.
“That’s our cue to take a break.” She heard Dean’s voice behind.
Chloe turned to him holding a stack of the books in his hands that he dropped on the ground. “We can’t take a break.” Chloe reached for the book she tossed and it was snatched away before she could get it.
“It will do you no good to keep working if you’re frustrated.” Dean was standing over her taking the book from her hands.
Chloe didn’t want to get up but knelt in front of him reaching for the book he took. “Is this the part where I kick you?”
“Come on we aren’t kids anymore.” He laughed at her, the sound welcomed after so many hours of silent reading. “We could try to get along.”
Chloe knew he was right. She was tired, it was late, she was frustrated and if she looked at the books anymore they would make no sense to her. “What do you suggest we do then?”
“We could follow along with Sammy and fall asleep.” Dean pointed back to his brother on the sofa leaning over, eyes closed and he was in a deep sleep breathing heavy, holding on to one of the books.
She had no idea when he fell asleep but she didn’t intend on following him. The thought that she had some sort of sight to see ghosts in her dreams and the fact that she was seeing Jun all the time didn’t make her want to sleep. Sleep was an unwelcome choice knowing what her mother experienced in the books she was reading. Knowing she saw ghosts night after night in her dreams was something that could have been passed onto her.
“I’m not really up for sleep.” She said with convection and resolve.
“We could play pool.” Dean dropped the book he was holding onto the stack in front of her. His attention was on the pool table behind them.
“That would wake your brother.” Chloe followed behind him looking forward to any kind of distraction from her mother’s adventures in ghost hunting. It was so much to take in and she needed a moment to feel normal again.
“No it wouldn’t.” Dean was holding onto a pool cue as he walked back to Chloe standing between the pool table and the sofa holding a sound asleep Sam. “Just watch.” Dean’s attention turned away from her and he started to shout. “Sammy, hey Sammy!”
Chloe nudged him back for being so rude but when she turned to look at Sam he was sound asleep. “How did you know?”
“He’s my bother and he sleeps like the dead. Now are you going to play?” Dean hand the pool cue to her.
Chloe thought for a moment how this would look to Lex. His jealously wouldn’t be pleasant walking in on them playing a game of pool. More then anything there was work to be done. Her life and her mother’s life hanging in the balance and she was going to enjoy a game of pool.
“If you feel bad about it…don’t.” Chloe’s inner struggle was stopped by Dean’s voice. “You need to rest your mind for a while. Trust me, over analyzing things will not help you or your mother any faster.” He thrust the cue toward her again, he was right and she would never admit it.
Chloe reached out and took it reluctantly. “One game.” She moved passed him to the pool table and thought she would be followed but Dean had other things on his mind. Looking behind her, he was headed right for Lex’s mini bar in the room. “What are you doing?”
“Having a drink while we play.” He picked up one of the crystal glasses and what Chloe assumed was scotch.
She moved towards him taking the glass from his grasp. “Don’t you think you should ask before you do that?”
Even though Lex said to make them selves at home, this wasn’t their home. It was castle and had more rooms in it then some hotels Chloe had stayed in. Staff and guards were lurking around the place and could pop in at any moment. Some of the items in the place were considered priceless. There was no way anyone could make themselves at home but, Dean didn’t see any of it as a problem.
“Sorry to be so rude.” His hand went back for the glass; he was quicker then she gave him credit for. “Can I get you something Chloe?”
Her stare turned into a glare. “No thank you and you’re not going to have any either.”
Dean didn’t heed her warning and starting pouring from the decanter. “Come on he’s rich. As far as I can tell from this house he’s fucking loaded. One drink for me isn’t going to break the bank for Lex Luthor.” She watched him take a sip from the glass then heard a light hum. “Okay maybe two or three drinks he won’t notice.” Then he finished with his signature grin that Chloe was growing to loathe and find endearing all at once.
Chloe shook her head at him. This was the person that was going to save her? She found it hard to believe the longer she was with him and was thankful that Sam was there to act as a counterbalance. “Drink up then, it will only help me win the game.”
“Ha!” He shouted. “I’m sure I could beat you drunk or sober.”
At the time it seemed like a good idea but Chloe didn’t know what she was walking into. Her competitive drive had kicked in and there was no stopping it now. “You want to place a bet on it?”
Dean took another sip and moved to the table already racked and ready to go. “Okay, you do one thing for me if I win.”
“Do what if you win?” Chloe didn’t like the sound of doing Dean’s bidding.
“No worries. I told you before I’m a gentleman.” His hand padded his chest claiming his manhood.
She stared at him for a moment drinking and smirking at her. “Fine but it goes both ways. I win you do one thing for me.”
His hand extended towards her and Chloe took it to shake on the deal. “You break.”
Chloe’s game was okay but she assumed Dean was all talk. All bark and no bite. Her mind was clear, for the moment, of all the horrid things going wrong in her life and she lined up the cue to start the game. If Chloe was really going to forget; one more thing would help push her over the edge.
One thing she should have considered but her caution had been thrown to the wind. She could die soon and might as well enjoy her life for a few moments. “Pour me a drink.”
“I knew you wanted one.” Dean chuckled all the way back to the bar. While his back was turned Chloe made the first shot. “No cheating. I have to see.”
She watched the balls move about the table, it was a good break. The striped 14 went in and the game had started. “Thank you.” Chloe took her glass being held by Dean.
She took her first sip, looking at him over the rim of the glass, and noticed that he was right. They were flirting. It was coming so naturally Chloe hadn’t noticed it till then.
The thought was shut down by the taste of scotch hitting the back of her throat. She moaned once and forced it down making a face as it moved along the way. “That was… interesting.” It wasn’t the first drink she had being under aged but it was the strongest.
Dean frowned slightly and she could tell he was about to mock her. “Interesting?” He repeated to her and smiled at the thought of her not being able to handle the drink.
Like a fool Chloe couldn’t be beaten by him and took another sip this time without so much as blinking. From that point on, till the end of the game, she had four more glasses of the scotch to prove him wrong.
As she drank her shots got worse, her vision got blurry and flirting with Dean became very interesting.
He kept doing a little dance with his eyes. She could feel him staring at her as she bent over to make her shots. Dean took no care in how he positioned himself behind her claiming to be helping her with a shot but merely using the moment as a reason to touch her.
Chloe indulged in what was happening a little too much. She squirmed against him when he was close. Shot looks at him from the side when he was down at her level. From time to time she would brush past him to get to the ball she wanted to hit.
Attention like this was scarce this past year and it was nice to have. It was nice to have from a man that wasn’t afraid to tell her what he was thinking and feeling. Someone that wasn’t pulling away or running away from her advances, like a bald man that would remain nameless for the night.
Even though Dean wasn’t exactly what she wanted maybe he was everything she needed at that time. His idea of charm was amusing enough not to play off him a little. There was nothing wrong with getting a confidence boost but there was something wrong in doing it to leading him on.
Just as he was making the last shot of the eight ball Chloe knew she had lost but couldn’t seem to care. He lined up the shot and sank it no problem. “That’s game.” He said with a grin.
Chloe placed down her glass next to him. She was standing right behind him and moved in front of him placing the pool table behind her. She jumped up on to the table and took the cue from him. “Okay pool master. What is the one thing you want?”
She watched his eyes lower to her cleavage then back to her eyes. “Is that what you want? Breast?” Chloe’s statement must have put a thought into his head and she saw the wheels turning as he considered the idea.
Dean’s eyes widened and a devilish grin twitched his lips. “As tempting as that sounds that’s not what I wanted.”
Chloe couldn’t stop the laughter from bubbling up out of her. “I would have thought differently.” She swayed from side to side giggling at his expense for awhile.
“For a drunken person your speech has not been altered at all.” Dean picked up the empty glass at her side and shook it in her face to taunt her.
Chloe’s eyes moved back to the door of the room to check for anyone coming. Sam was now snoring and Lex was no were to be see. She turned her attention back to Dean, dropping the pool cue that cracked against the hard wood floor then in one swift motion she pulled Dean forward by the rim of his shirt. “So what if I’m drunk. That doesn’t mean I don’t know what I’m doing.”
His hands grabbed hers clutching to his shirt. She saw the shift in his eyes again down her chest and back up again. “Now are you flirting with me?”
“No, I still despise you.” She let go with that and another long laugh was had. Everything seemed to be funny after four glasses of scotch. “Are you going to tell me what it is you want?”
Dean seemed displeased that she was laughing. He breathed out deep before he answered. “I only had a question for you to answer.”
Grinning ear to ear Chloe waited for her question. “What do you want to know now? Where Lex hides his money in the manor? I can’t answer that; I don’t know.”
“No, I think I can manage without it.” His hands moved on top of hers gripping the side of the table. He was leaning forward just like before on the Luthor Corp jet and she was feeling just as she did on the plane. Her tongue swept over her bottom lip and readied for what was going to happen but Dean ruined the moment. “Do you want him or his feelings all one sided?”
Her eyes narrowed and she wasn’t feeling very funny anymore. It didn’t matter if she had feelings for Lex. At that moment things were simple and things with Lex were too complicated to think about. Dean was attractive and more than enough of a challenge for her to figure out. He wanted to be flirting with her and he seemed to be very interested in her. Why he would ask her that question made no sense.
Her secret life was still tucked away; her heart hidden from view. That’s where she hoped it would stay. Lex just kept pulling away and there was only so much Chloe could take. Feeling connect to Lex then getting tossed out like the trash and now feeling their connection again only to have him turn away whenever the topic turned to what they were feeling, was all more then she could take.
In a huff she jumped off the table and pushed Dean out of her way. She wanted out of that room. She didn’t want to think about what Lex meant to her. Thinking about Lex was painful. At one time she did want him. At one time she saw herself with him and it was so clear how she felt connected to him but, now things were not that way. His behavior meant very little because Lex had yet to tell her what he wanted from her.
“Wait.” Dean called behind her but she just kept moving. Chloe was at the door ready to pull it open but he grabbed her hand before she could turn the door knob. “I asked you to wait.”
“What?” She said turning back to look at him then tried to finish him off with a quip but it wasn’t going to happen. Chloe felt a sudden jolt in her body. At first she thought it was the scotch catching up to her and she was going vomit but that wasn’t it.
The room started to go dark. What was light started to slip away into the shadows of the room. By the look of things Chloe thought she had to be blacking out but she was wide awake. The alcohol wasn’t making her feel like that before and had no reason to be doing it all of a sudden.
“Are you all right?” She heard Dean, felt his hand squeezing her arm to look at him.
Here eyes rested on the light gradually slipping away on the hardwood floor. “Do you see it?” Chloe whispered and knew what was coming. It was happening again.
Jun had found her.
“I don’t see anything.” Dean let go of her arm. Chloe looked at him frantically, circling were he was standing and looking for what she saw. “What is it Ch….” He was trying to speak but his words were cut short.
Chloe’s heart went into her throat, her eyes widen and she backed away from Dean flying across the room by forces unseen.
“You are mine.” The ominous voice she heard long ago was echoing throughout the room.
Chloe’s voice was lost and she couldn’t say a word. The light was gone and the room was filled with shadows. Dean was knocked out on the ground far away from her. He wasn’t moving. Chloe turned to Sam and he was still sound asleep as if he heard nothing.
She tried to breathe but nothing happened. The voice sounded again and was coming toward her. Chloe turned back to the study door. She turned the knob but it wasn’t going to open. “Please.” Chloe murmured pulling the door harder, jerking at it as if she had the strength to pull it off its hinges like Clark. “Dean!” She screamed trying to pull as hard as she could, feeling tears starting to swell in her eyes.
“Chloe…” Her name was soft but Chloe heard it right behind her. She couldn’t see a thing in the darkness of the room but whatever was calling her name was right behind her.
Her whole body started to shake as she turned around slowly. Her breathing was far from under control and she was panting trying to breathe. Once she was fully around she was there.
The dark figure of the woman, bleeding from the neck was there. “Chloe…” She said her name again, soft and slow.
Chloe tried to think. The feeling of being drunk had long gone and now it was replaced with fear. If she said her mother’s chant maybe Jun would go away into the darkness again but she couldn’t move or speak. Nothing was happening except Jun reaching out to her with her bloody right hand.
Jun reached her cheek and her body went cold. Chloe fell into some sort of trance and lost the will to control herself. She couldn’t say her mother’s chat or call out to Dean and Sam. She was under Jun’s control.
She turned back to the door and then opened it. Walking into the hall of the manor, the light slipped away as she made her descent into the manor. She wasn’t there and she couldn’t see where she was going but Jun was guiding her body along the way. She was leading her into the kitchen.
In her clouded state of mind Chloe could feel her hands gripping the butcher’s knife. She felt her left hand moving the shiny blade to her right and slicing it open. Her screaming sound though out into the room but no one was there to stop her, to help her, to protect her.
“See what I see.” Jun said to her. “Die as I died.” Jun whispered again.
Hand shaking, body froze in place Chloe took the knife with her left and point the tip of the blade to her neck. Just as her mother had done to her self many a time Chloe was going to cut herself. Cuts that might go deep enough to kill her or shallow, like the cuts her mother, all done under Jun’s control.
There was nothing she could do to stop it. Jun was in charge of her. But unlike her mother, someone was there to stop her. Someone was there to protect her.
Before she could pull the blade across her throat, a hand grabbed her own. “Chloe! Chloe don’t!” Someone turned her around and the knife fell to the ground. The man’s strong hands gripped her arms; shaking her back into the world she left behind in the study. “Chloe, look at me love.”
Out of her mind the thing that brought her back was the sound of Lex’s voice; his voice calling her love. She finally focused on him as he looked at her; the most terrified she’d ever seen him.
“Lex.” She whispered his name and lost all the feeling in her body. She passed out in his arms.
~~~~)~~~~(~~~~

Chloe opened her eyes slowly. She opened them and didn’t know where she was. The last thing she saw was Lex’s face but now she was staring at a white wall.

She lifted her right hand and winced in pain at the motion. Her vision was blurry but she focused on her hand after blinking several times. It was wrapped in a bandage and appeared to be stitched up. She thought what happened at the manor was a dream but seeing her hand she knew it wasn’t.

Chloe had cut herself just like Jun wanted her to.

Dropping her arm back to her side she looked down at herself. She was in a bed that wasn’t her own but a bed she had been in before. She knew the feel of hospital sheets and gown after spending many times in one.

Struggling to sit up, Chloe heaved herself up in the bed propping her back against the pillows behind her. She surveyed the room again and she was alone. It was a private room and she knew it had to be Lex’s doing.

She shifted over to the side and her feet made contact with the cold tile floor below. In search of answers as to how she got there Chloe stood up and started to move for the door leading out of the room.

Before she could reach it she heard a voice. “The pain.” A woman’s voice filled the room.

Chloe’s heart stopped and she thought she was found again. She thought Jun had come back to finish her off and make her slice her throat for real this time but she was wrong.

Turning slowly towards the voice a woman in a hospital gown just like her own was holding her hand out to her. She was pale and looked to be in her thirties. Her long brown hair was sticking to her face and it look as if she been sweating for days.

“Make the pain go away.” The pale woman stood still holding her hand out to Chloe.

Chloe assumed the woman must have been lost and need to find her way back to her own room. “Are you lost?” The question was shaky and Chloe’s voice was raspy. She cleared her throat and tried again. “Do you need a doctor?”

“The pain won’t go away.” The woman said.

Chloe was so confused and disoriented. Somehow she lived through another attack by Jun but this woman seemed so strange to her and out of place in the room she was in. How she got there, why she was there was so unclear.

“I’ll get a doctor.” Chloe walked towards the woman slowly. Whoever she was; was in pain and needed help. Her hand extended towards the woman and just as she was about to touch her someone called her name.

“Chloe.” She turned to see Lex in the doorway of the room. The look of terror had gone but she could see he was still concerned. “You’re awake.”

“This woman is in pain can you get a doctor for her?” She thought her request was clear but Lex looked at as if she was crazed. His eyes roamed around the room and he walked in closer to her as he searched.

“What woman?” He questioned.

Chloe’s eyes widened and she looked behind her. Had she not seen the woman asking for help? When she was focused in the direction of the woman, she was there still reaching out to her.

She looked back to Lex pointing behind her. “The woman is right here.”

“Please help me.” The pale woman repeated.

“I will. It’s okay we well get you some help.” Chloe turned back to her reaching for her hand again.

Lex touched her shoulder before she could take it. “Chloe there is no one here.” He repeated and his voice was wavering.

Chloe kept looking at the woman and she started to cry. How could Lex not see her? How could Lex not hear her? Chloe couldn’t look away from the pale woman’s face that was filled with tears.

“She’s here, she’s crying, can’t you see her?” Chloe insisted. Looking behind her again she saw that Sam and Dean had entered the room. “Dean… Sam… don’t you see her?”

“See who?” Sam spoke up first. “Is it Jun again?” He said, standing alert, ready for the next attack.

Chloe looked to the woman still asking for help, still crying and then looked to the boys all staring at her in disbelief.

“Chloe.” Lex’s hand was still at her shoulder and moved up to her cheek. “There is no one there.” His eyes lowered and he was trying to calm her but, it was only making it worse.

It was a dream she resolved. It had to be a dream and she was still passed out in Lex’s kitchen. But Dean’s words made it real. What he said made sense as to why she was seeing the woman in pain and they couldn’t.

As if she hadn’t gone through enough that day learning the truth of who her mother was, seeing Jun again then cutting herself under Jun’s control.

Something was happening to Chloe that she hoped she didn’t have. Something she thought skipped a generation and made her less like her mother. The only thing they shared were green eyes. She was hoping for years that she wasn’t like her mother knowing she had gone mad because of what was now true for them both.

Chloe Sullivan was more like her mother then she ever expected to be.

“It’s a ghost.” She heard Dean say softly. “She has the sight.”

Letia this is really good I love how Dean interacts with Chloe, this paragraph was so Dean like :D

He kept doing a little dance with his eyes. She could feel him staring at her as she bent over to make her shots. Dean took no care in how he positioned himself behind her claiming to be helping her with a shot but merely using the moment as a reason to touch her.

I was surprised that Dean only wanted to ask her a question, I guess I was hoping it was going to be a kiss but never mind!!!

So Chloe can definitely see ghosts :eek: that girl is never going to get a good nights sleep!

I can't wait for more soon hopefully ;)

I still really like the Dean and Chloe interaction and how fitting that it just stems from when they were younger. Naughty Dean and his teasing Chloe.

So she finally got ghost license I was wondering when that would come about. Great update look forward to the next part.

Chapter 7 Gift

Chloe let the truth sink into her mind. Her mother could see things no one else could and it looked as if she could as well.

“The pain, please help me.” The pale woman called out to her again.

As Chloe turned to look at her again she wanted it not to be true, repeated to herself before she was fully facing the pale woman in the corner that she didn’t have the sight. Her mother was the one that went crazy because of her so called gift. Chloe wasn’t about to succumb to her mother’s fate.

Once she was facing the sound of the voice Chloe was greeted by the woman’s hands extending out to her and repeating her plea. “Please help me.”

“She’s not there?” Chloe moved away from the corner and tried to run for the open door but Sam closed it. Lex moved in front of her blocking her way. “Move Lex.”

“It’s okay Chloe.” Lex gripped her arm, keeping her from moving on.

“It’s not okay.” Chloe tried to push pass him but he held her tighter. She wanted out of that space; out of the hospital. “I’m seeing things Lex, things are far from okay.”

“Chloe you can’t just leave. This is what your mother passed down to you. If someone is in here…” Sam tried to tell her what to do but Chloe didn’t want to hear it.

“Don’t!” She interrupted him yelling loud enough for the entire hospital to hear. “I’m not like her. I’m nothing like my mother.”

”The pain won’t go away.” The pale woman’s voice grew louder behind her.

This wasn’t going to happen to her because she didn’t have any gift. “Shut up; you’re not there.” Chloe yelled behind her.

Turning back to Lex, Chloe noticed he was looking at her the way she didn’t want to see. He was looking at her in way that she never wanted to consider. Lex thought she was crazy, as crazy as her mother.

“Don’t look at me that way…like I’m crazy.” Chloe pushed Lex away from her. She pushed him so hard Chloe could feel the strain on the stitches on her hand. “I’m not crazy like her.”

She pushed passed Lex only to be greeted by Dean waiting behind him. “No one said you’re crazy.” He wasn’t looking at her like Lex was but his eyes were lowered and he look concerned. “If you see something we believe you. Right Sammy? Right Lex.?”

Chloe looked back to Lex and his hands were fisted at his side, his eyes were wide. “Of course I believe you Chloe.” It looked as if he was lying, it sounded like he was lying. In all her time she’d known Lex he hadn’t lied to her, he never sugar coated anything for her but just now he had.

“I believe you too Chloe. If you say you see someone then they’re there.” Chloe turned to face Sam once he spoke and he was still blocking the door.

“I just want the pain to stop.” The pale woman’s voice seemed to be every where in the hospital room.

Chloe covered her ears. “Stop it!” She shouted out again.

Dean put his hands on her arms pulling them away from her ears, forcing her to hear the woman’s voice again. “Tell me what the ghost said.”

“There is no ghost Dean.” Chloe felt the tears starting to drop down her cheeks. There was no one in the room but Sam, Dean and Lex but the woman’s voice wasn’t going away no matter how hard she tried to push her away.

“Don’t make her do this.” Lex shoved Dean back away from her. “She doesn’t want to do this now.” Lex was in between her and Dean then they started what they did best. The staring match had begun and they both started yelling about what was best for her.

Sam moved toward them and tried to break them up but Chloe couldn’t hear them because the woman she wanted gone was touching her. The icy touch at her shoulder took her attention away from the boys and back to her gift.

Without making a sound Chloe breathed out and saw her breath carry across the room. She turned around to the feel of the woman’s hand on her shoulder. “What do you want?” Chloe pushed back her tears, taking the first step to embracing her gift.

“Make the pain go away..” The woman moved her hand away from her. “I have been asking for years and no one sees me.”

Chloe swallowed hard and was preparing herself to talk to the ghost. She could fight and try to suppress it but no matter how hard she screamed this woman wasn’t going away.

“What was wrong with you?” Her voice was shy and timid and after everything that had happen it was amazing she was still standing.

“Was?” The woman questioned and looked around her as if she was realizing that the place she was in wasn’t the one she remembered.

The faint sound of the boys yelling behind her stopped. She studied the woman and saw she was in her late thirties, she and long brown hair and was wearing a hospital gown. Chloe didn’t want to believe she was seeing her but the woman was so clear.

“Yes, was…you’re…” Chloe had to tell her. It was impossible to tell her the truth; that she was dead and may have died in the very room they were in but there was nothing else she could do. If this was her gift then Chloe was going to help the woman move on so she could do the same. “The reason no one can see you, the reason no one can hear you is because you’re dead.” She finished and waited to gauge the pale woman’s reaction.

The woman’s eyes widen and her eyes started racing. “No, I went to sleep then everyone was gone. I have been in so much pain for so long how can I be dead? They said I had a month it’s only been a day. I keep living the same day. I wake up in bed and then I try to ask for help but no one hears me. My husband wouldn’t leave my side unless I was…” The woman paused and discovered the truth.

The story was starting to make sense. The woman must have died in her sleep but didn’t let go. This was so new for Chloe and she didn’t know what to do now. She just wanted the woman to go away at first, she wanted to convince herself that she wouldn’t end up in the same place her mother was in but, if she didn’t embrace her gift, she would never be able to control it and one day she might go insane because of it.

“I understand you’re hurting.” Chloe started and moved closer to the woman, her hand reached out to her as it did before and she took her cold hand in her own. “But you don’t have to hurt anymore.”

“I want the pain to go away. I still have a month, I know it.” The woman insisted.

Chloe squeezed her icy hand and focused on her eyes. “I’m sorry but I think it has been much longer then that. When you died you didn’t let go but you can now. The pain will go away if you just let it.”

“You can stop the pain?” The woman’s hand tightened around Chloe’s.

Chloe didn’t know anything until she started reading her mother’ books. A ghost holds on to something for what ever reason and this woman was holding on to something and wouldn’t let it go. The pale woman believed her husband was waiting and using the pain she felt before she died to keep her in this world.

“I can’t make the pain stop but you can. You said it yourself, your husband wouldn’t leave unless you were dead and I don’t think he would want you to hurt anymore. I think he left knowing you weren’t in anymore pain. You can let it go anytime you’re ready.” She let her hand go and took a step back away from her. “Just believe that the pain is gone and you won’t feel it anymore.”

The pale woman backed away from Chloe towards the corner she was in when she first saw her. Her eyes fell shut then the chill in the room started to slowly fade away. Chloe blinked and when her eyes opened again the woman was gone.

She did it, the woman had moved on.

There was no feeling of her in the room anymore and the cold was replaced with the warmth she felt when she first woke up. The tears started coming from her eyes slowly as she turned to the boys.

The three of them were standing, staring at Chloe as if they didn’t know her. “She’s gone.” Chloe said to them.

The next thing Chloe did was the only thing she felt would keep her from finally falling apart. She rushed into Lex’s body and her arms went around him, her tears turned into harsh sobs and she let it all go in his chest.

Lex didn’t push her away and his body wasn’t as tense as it was before when they hugged. A hand moved down the back of her hair and she felt him pull her closer to him with his other arms.

“Its okay, I have you.” His voice was low and it was what she wanted to hear. She needed someone to be there, to be solid and to hold her together.

~~~~)~~~~(~~~~
After crying for what seemed like hours Chloe wanted out of the hospital. She didn’t want the chance to run in to another ghost at the hospital. Lex made it so and the doctor let her leave. It was only a hand injury but there was so much the doctors would never know about what really happened.
She didn’t want to go home for fear of Jun coming after her father. Jun looked to be after her family and she didn’t want her father to be dragged into this because of her. Lex offered her a place at the manor and Chloe took the offer without pause.
Sam and Dean came back to the manor and wanted to continue the search through her mother’s books for Jun’s story. Sam wanted to talk to Chloe about the woman in the hospital. He wanted to tell her all about her gift but Chloe didn’t want to hear it. She needed some time and told him the talk could wait.
On the way back to the manor Dean gave her the space she needed. Dean was tossed across the room but he acted as if he was okay. Once she turned down Sam’s offer, Dean had to know she needed a break from the paranormal world. They allowed her to take the rest of the night off and promised to find the information on Jun.
It was late into the night almost becoming the day once they arrived at the manor and Chloe had pulled all niters but she never felt so exhausted. After leaving home Chloe didn’t plan ahead and didn’t have anything to change into. Lex provided her with some clothes he had in the manor. The satin pajamas had to be leftovers from someone woman but Lex assured her it was something no one had ever worn.
The room that he escorted her into was bigger then any place she had stayed in but the most uncomfortable. The boys had left her alone to shower and change but Chloe didn’t want to be alone. She didn’t want Jun to come for her again. It was decided, after some talk, that Lex would watch over her.
When she emerged from the bathroom in the satin pajamas Lex was sitting on the arm chair in the room facing out into the back gardens of the manor. “Lex.” She called getting his attention.
“Are you feeling any better?” Lex turned in the seat and got up to move towards her closing the bathroom door. His face wasn’t what it was in the hospital but the tender, look he’d been giving her the past few weeks had returned.
“I guess as good as I’m going to get without any sleep.” Chloe tried to keep her wits about her but she felt like crying again.
“I should leave so you can get some sleep then. I can help Sam and Dean with the books.” Lex turned towards the door leaving the room but it wasn’t what she wanted. If Chloe closed her eyes Jun would be there. Sleep was the last thing on her mind.
Chloe stumbled over to him; her bare feet patted across the throw rug in the room. Once he was in arms reach she grabbed him before he could get to the door. “Can you stay and talk to me. I understand if you’re tired and want to go but I won’t be able to sleep feeling like this.”
He gave her the slightest grin. “If that’s what you need then I will stay.”
Breathing out deeply, Chloe moved to the plush bed in the room and took a seat at the edge of it. Lex followed after her and took the seat next to her. In that moment Chloe realized how awkward it would be for Lex to stay.
Her hair was still damp from being towel dried. She had to have huge bags under her eyes and her face had to be puffy from crying. Without thinking about it Chloe took off her bra. The chill in the room would affect her body in a way she didn’t want Lex to see. When she looked at him, his eyes had settled on the painting hanging in the room adjacent to the bed and her appearance didn’t seem to affect him.
“Do you want to talk about what happened at the hospital?” Lex questioned her keeping his eyes fixed on the abstract painting.
“No, I’m not really sure where to even start.” Chloe stared at the painting as well and let her mind wonder how she got where she was that night. Her hand was in a bit of pain but it reminded her of how close she came to cutting her own throat.
The memory of the kitchen brought her back to Lex’s words getting her out of the trance she was in. He called her love. That was something much easier to talk about.
“How did you know I was in the kitchen?” Chloe turned to look at him and he did the same.
Lex changed out of the shirt he was in from the hospital because Chloe had cried so hard on it he had to change. He looked fresh and rested even though he had to have less sleep then her. His eyes lowered and it was as if he didn’t want to say how. “I came back and you were…” He paused and moved away from her. Before Lex seemed fine but something was bothering him. “It doesn’t matter what I saw but I heard you screaming and I ran to the kitchen.”
Chloe tried to think of where she was when Lex came back to the manor but she didn’t see him until he was shaking her back to life in the kitchen. There was only one place she could have been and not seen him and that was half drunk flirting with Dean on the pool table.
“You had to be close by if you knew I was in the kitchen.” Chloe spoke to him; his back was to her.
“I was going to come into the study but I didn’t want to interrupt you.” She watched his shoulders tighten and his hands close into a fist.
It was just like on the plane when Dean was acting as if he was going to kiss her. His jealousy was surfacing again. Chloe knew what it would look like if someone was standing behind her at the study door. It would look as if they were all over each other.
“Lex you wouldn’t have interrupted anything.” Chloe watched and wanted him to turn back to her and when he did he looked clouded with confusion.
“You mean to tell me that you and Dean weren’t sampling my scotch and making out on my pool table?” The question was harsh. Lex turned fully and peered at her waiting for an answer.
It was as if he wanted Chloe to feel like she did something wrong. Since their reunion, Lex had dropped so many hints that there was something deeper inside of him, something waiting at the surface only second away from showing it self and now it finally had.
Chloe had placed his jealousy as an older brother watching out for his little sister since that was the way she had been treated by Clark for so long but Lex’s action had little to do with brotherly love. His fist had opened and closed waiting for her answer. The sound of his voice, stern and infuriated, was one she never heard. As the seconds ticked by for her to answer Lex moved closer to her and was almost breathing down over her as he did.
In a flash it all became so clear. Lex hadn’t spoken to her in months. He may have given her the gift of bringing her mother back into her life but that didn’t fix anything. Even if he was trying to make amends for the day of the meteor shower it didn’t give him the right to stand there as if she had done something wrong. There were no claims between the two of them and after everything Chloe had been through that day she didn’t deserve to be spoken to in this way. It didn’t matter if he said he cared for her or how many times he called her love, he didn’t have the right.
“I may have sampled the scotch as you put it but I wasn’t making out with anyone and if I was it would be none of your business. You saw it fit to remove yourself from my life and now that you’re back in it doesn’t give you the right to judge what I do and don’t do.” Chloe had moved right into his personal space as she spoke closing the tiny gap between them.
“I’m not judging.” His eyes shifted down to her and she could see him taking in what she said as the truth. “I’m only worried about the choices you’re making when it comes to him. He’s reckless and careless and will be gone once all of this is over. I’ll still be here when it’s over and if it’s never over…” He paused then took a step back. It was as if he knew he said too much and wanted to back off but not this time.
It was never the right time and now that Chloe was seeing ghosts it may never be the right time to talk about what was going on. The strange looks, his jealous act on the plane and pulling away from her hug when they arrived in Smallvile had to be talked about.
“Say what you were going to say.” Chloe moved back not wanting him to get to far away from what was happening.
“I was going to say that if this is never over I’ll still be here and he won’t. I’ll still be here and what happened at the hospital will only become worse for you. You could end up some where I never intended you to be and it will be my fault.” Lex was speaking to her as he did before. His voice had softened and his anger had faded away.
“Is that what you think?” Chloe squinted her eyes; studying him. “You think I’ll end up like my mother and it will be your fault.”
He nodded as the word came from him almost in a whisper. “Yes.” The pained look in his eyes was so clear to that before she mistook it for anger.
“You’re wrong.” Her hand reached out for his and she twined her fingers around him until he moved to grasp her palm. “Finding my mother is the greatest gift you could have given me.”
“But it’s brought all the things that come with it.” His grip tightened as he pulled Chloe closer to him. “I can handle problems. There is always a way for me to handle things but I’m not Dean. I don’t understand what’s happening to you and there is nothing I can do to stop you from getting hurt again.”
“Maybe I don’t need you to do everything like Dean. Maybe I need you to be you and that will help me.”
“Are you sure that’s enough?”
“I won’t lie to you Lex, I’m scared…terrified of what will happen the next time Jun comes back or the next time I see a random dead person.” Chloe pulled her hand away and turned her back to him prepared to admit the truth. “But it wasn’t the first time I’ve seen a ghost.”
While in the shower Chloe allowed herself to feel what she felt in hospital and knew it wasn’t the first time. She saw something before she could never explain, heard something that when she turned around to see what it was, it was gone and dreamt dreams that were like horror movies. All this time there was a reason or excuse as to what happened but now it was very apparent what she didn’t want to be true.
She was always a seer but didn’t know what it meant until she found her mother.
Taking in a long breathe of air then closing her eyes Chloe could feel Lex behind her. He was so close the heat from his body was radiating against her back. The thought of what she knew was now true made Chloe shudder and Lex being so close behind she knew he had to see it. He was standing there as if he wanted to comfort her.
“Do you want to talk about it?” His voice just behind her was low but she could hear him so clearly it was like he was right at her ear.
Turning towards him slowly her suspicion about his location was correct. Lex was right on top of her and his eyes seemed to be lost as to what was the right thing to do. Chloe just stared at him for a moment and was at lost as well. At the hospital she did what felt right but now it all seemed so awkward.
“Go ahead.” Chloe choked out the words and wasn’t sure if she was right or just assuming Lex’s intentions but after she spoke his hand reached out to her.
His fingers push back the strands of blonde damp hair covering her face then his hand was covering hers. It was solid, warm and one of softest things Chloe ever felt against her skin. “You can tell me if you feel up to it.” She heard him sigh as his hands moved to brush over her cheek. The sound was so faint but he was enjoying this just as much as Chloe was.
It wasn’t like Dean touching because he was sure of what was happening. Dean’s emotions were easy to read. He was attracted to her and wanted her to know it but with Lex everything was twisted into so much angst between them over the past few years it was impossible to tell if the touch was for her comfort or for his own at being lost as to how to help her.
Not saying anything for a few moments, Chloe just wanted to stand as she was. Lex’s hand on her and his eyes looking down at her with so much compassion she felt her stomach tighten and her mind start to wonder as to how far things could go before he pulled away again.
As the thought crossed her mind Lex was retreating, his hand pulled away slowly. “I understand if you don’t want to tell me. I should go.” He turned on his heels and once again he was running away from her.
“Wait.” Chloe called. “I want to talk about it.” It was the truth that she needed to tell someone but she didn’t want him running away again.
She watched him go through the emotions; his shoulders were tense just seconds from the door and then they relaxed when she spoke. Just as quickly as he turned away he was turning back. “We should sit.” He motioned his hand towards their original position on the bed.
Chloe moved ahead of him and took her seat then Lex sat back with her on the edge of the plush bed. “I think I was eight the first time.”
“Eight?” Lex mumbled.
“Yes, I never knew what it meant until now.” Chloe keep her eyes away from him as she recalled the memory. It was one she thought was long buried but had surfaced while in the shower. “I use to have an imagery friend.”
“I don’t think that’s anything out of the ordinary.”
Keeping her head forward Chloe didn’t want the sound and somber look on Lex to keep her from getting out the rest of what she wanted to say. “That’s what I thought. I remember playing with her and talking to her for hours if I couldn’t get to sleep.”
“Why are you so sure that this girl was a…ghost?” He hesitated on the word ghost and the idea had to difficult for him to process. Chloe wasn’t sure how she looked as she spoke but it couldn’t be good because Lex was reaching over her clasping her left hand that was resting in her lap.
“One day I was playing with her and my father came into the room and saw what I was doing. I was engrossed in what I was doing and it took me awhile to notice he was in the room. He was staring at me and I never saw my father look so terrified.” Chloe felt the start of tears and didn’t think she had anymore left after crying so much at the hospital. The sound of sniffles made Lex tighten his hand.
“He picked me up from the bed and he shook me. He kept asking who I was talking to and I explained. I told him it was my friend, that I only saw her when we were home and we were best friends. I told him sometimes it was cold in the room when she was upset about the game we played. I told him everything but he didn’t want to hear it.” Chloe could feel her father’s hands on her tiny shoulders squeezing the truth out of her. Her eyes were over flowing and there was nothing she could do to stop it.
Lex moved his hand away and placed his arms around her. Chloe didn’t hesitate to throw herself into his chest. Allowing herself to cry for a moment she tried to finish the story moving away from the warmth of Lex’s chest. “He told me she wasn’t there and that I should stop thinking about her as if she was real.”
“Did you do what your father wanted?” He spoke looking down on her as she was looking up.
“I didn’t have to.” Pushing back from him to get a better view Chloe continued. “We moved. I know now why we moved in such a hurry; I know why my father was so upset with me. He didn’t want me to be like my mother. Later on when we were moved into a new place he told me that if I saw anything again I should tell him immediately.”
While she spoke Chloe didn’t notice Lex’s hand moving though her hair and stroking over her back. She stopped talking to look at him. Her hand was hurt but she could still use it to stroke his back and then she noticed that she was teasing the base of skull with the finger tips of her other hand.
“He was trying to protect you. Your father wanted to keep his promise.”
“If this seeing dead people is such a gift then why did my father hide it from me.” Her hands didn’t move away but something else other then what she was sharing was happening.
“You heard your father.” He paused then brushed back the tears on her cheeks. “He made a promise to your mother and was just doing the best he could to make good on that promise. It may be a gift but not one an eight old should have to deal with.”
“What about you Lex?” The tears had faded but Lex’s hands on her were doing something. They were pushing the limits of friendly caressing. Her belly tightened as he looked at her and her mind was reeling over how this moment would turn out. Hopefully it wouldn’t be him running away again.
“What about me?” Lex’s arms pulled her body closer to him until her hip was resting right next to leg.
“Do you want to protect me from this gift like you did in the hospital?” Chloe could still see him standing in between her and Dean doing what her father asked him to do.
His lips pressed themselves into to a tight line as he thought of his answers. “I don’t think you can ignore it. If you can learn to understand what it means to be a seer then you can have control over it.”
As he spoke Chloe thought to how they looked sitting in the bed in an embrace. Her legs were so close to straddling him, her hands couldn’t stop touching him and at some point she felt her nipples point out into stiff peaks as they brushed against him.
“Lex” Chloe paused to hear him answer her while biting down on her lip to keep her from rushing the moment.
“Hmmm…” His eyebrows rose then she heard the hum rumble in his throat.
Chloe let her head tilt back some to get a full view of his face; he was blushing. His cheeks were almost a rosy color. She didn’t want to ask but what he said in the kitchen had to be mentioned “Did you call me love?”
Giving her the slightest grin, his hands didn’t part from her body but he shifted until his head lowered down to her lips. Licking over her mouth quickly Chloe was greeted by his pressing into her. He was answering her question in a way that calmed the growing tension inside of her.
Giving into what had started a year ago Chloe let Lex kiss her. She let his warm tongue move into her mouth and his hands tighten on her. This kept her from getting too far away and let herself admit this was what she wanted from him. The reason she felt so hurt about what had happened to their friendship last year, about what he’d done to her in the caves.
The past few weeks Chloe was starting to understand what Lex meant by caring about her and everything he seemed to be bottling was coming out in the long kiss they were sharing.
This time Lex wasn’t the one stopping but the sound of the door being throw open was. They both jerked away from each other as if they were caught. When Chloe looked to the door Dean was standing there, she wasn’t sure if he was upset or looking at her like he wanted to say I told you so but what he did say was all business.
“We found Jun’s location in Moria’s books.” He stepped out of the room with that closing the door behind him.
Swallowing hard Chloe knew this was it. Jun was found and it was time to get rid of her.
Great update!!! I feel sort of sorry for Jun now because she hadn't realized that she was dead. Glad that Lex & Chloe kissed but now they have to get their act together & send Jun off so Chloe can move on with her life.
Excellent chapter!
That was quite a twist involving Jun, and the kiss was great, but I think we need more Chlexy goodness:D
Hmm.... Maybe I wasn't to clear in this chapter with what Chloe was seeing in the hospital.
The ghost in the hospital was not intended to be Jun. It was just a random ghost Chloe ran into while being treated at the hospital. Sorry if it wasn’t clear. The idea was to start displaying Chloe's abilities as a seer and that she can see any ghost not just the one driving her mother crazy and now trying to do the same to her.
Chloe seeing the random pale woman was just like her seeing a ghost when she was a little girl and then becoming playmates with the dead girl. Second to that Jun would appear as she has the past few times in the dark and bleeding. The Jun appearances have a pattern that I’m trying to display and will be explained in the coming chapters.
I hope this clears up some of the confusion before anyone else looks at the chapter.
Thank you lj and kit for your feedback.
Letia, now I feel bad because I thought Jun was Chloe's imaginary friend, and I thought that was another reason Gabe was scared.
Boy do I feel dumb!
And I also feel the need to share: I had an imaginary friend when I was a child. Now I'm wondering: was it a ghost?!
Notes: If we are in the ghost world that Chloe can only see then things are in italics.
Chapter 8 Lost Little Girl
For some reason it all seemed too easy. When Dean told Chloe he found Jun she knew it was time to get rid of her but standing over a grave in a town smaller than Smallville it all seemed far too easy. Chloe watched as all three of the men working hard to unveil Jun’s body.
Sam and Dean did locate Jun’s whereabouts from her mother’s books. Moira explained as much as she could about her dream of Jun. Moira knew that Jun was seventeen and she was murder. Somehow her mother located her whereabouts but never made it to the point they were at now in the cemetery. The details of the murder were included in Moira ’s notes but there was lot about Jun chasing her and her mother’s words reminded her of the things Dr. Burdick showed her. Chloe knew all the feelings her mother felt in her dream because she felt them too.
Jun’s story was the last entry because all of the books everyone had gone through were full and that book was no where near being complete.
Chloe was clutching her mother’s book with all the information in it about Jun that Sam and Dean found. As she stood over Jun Tyler’s grave it was all too easy.
“So you just burn her bones?” Chloe directed her question to Dean or Sam.
“Yes, we salt them first then burn the bones and that should get rid of her.” Sam answered taking a break from digging.
After sleeping a few hours everything was so easy when she woke. After Dean ran off Lex followed him. There was no keeping him from leaving but Lex did come back and told her he made plans with them to leave once she’d gotten some kind of rest; rest Chloe didn’t want.
The kiss she shared with Lex was so perfect but she could see him retreating on her until Chloe took things another step forward. She asked him to stay with her while she slept. Lex was going to make himself comfortable on the arm chair in the room but that’s not what she meant. When she told him to get in the bed with her there was some hesitation but eventually Lex was kicked off his shoes then got into bed.
She wasn’t asking them to do anything else that night. The kiss was enough at the moment for her to know Lex cared about her. Lex moved into the bed after her and did exactly what Chloe wanted without her having to ask for it and he pulled her body closer to him until she was resting on his chest. The warmth of his body and the steady beat of his heart put Chloe in to a much needed sleep.
The last thing she felt before sleeping was Lex’s hand sweeping down her hair down her back and when she woke his hand was resting firmly on the curve of butt. Lex was still sound asleep and Chloe didn’t just want to move and make him realize he was holding her instead she pretended to be asleep and allowed him to sleep away as if she didn’t notice.
When he finally woke up Chloe felt him slip her from over him and sneak out of the room to leave her alone. After the kiss she thought maybe they could talk about what was going on with them both but Lex just retreated again.
That night Chloe didn’t have a nightmare about Jun and slept for a change so she was ready for what that day would hold. The drive took about an hour and riding in Dean’s car allowed for little comfort. Lex sat with her in the back complaining the entire ride.
It was hard to believe that Jun’s life ended the way it did in the papers Sam found on her. Her parents found her dead in her room and there was never any cause of death or autopsy report explaining if she killed herself or if she was murdered. Her mother said she was murdered the papers said nothing. It was all so vague and as they stood there preparing to open up her coffin it was all too easy.
Dean had his hands on the latch of top of the coffin. Lex had moved from out of the pit and was standing next to her. Sam had made his move to retrieve the salt and gasoline to start the fire. Everything was happening and it all seemed at its end but Chloe felt a twinge in her back, the hairs on her arms started to rise and she felt her belly clench.
“She’s not in there.” Chloe mumbled but didn’t think anyone heard her.
“What did you say?” Dean turned away from the coffin to look at her. They didn’t talk about what he saw and now that it was closer to being over they may never talk about it.
Chloe snapped out of the state she was in and looked to Lex. “She’s not in there.”
“Are you sure?” He was covered in dirt; Chloe never saw him so disheveled. Right now he was so unfamiliar with dirt under his nails and smudges all over his bald head.
“I know she’s not in there.” Chloe didn’t know why but there was something too easy about everything that was happening.
“Open it Dean.” Sam was at the foot of grave looking down waiting to see if what she believed was true.
Dean turned to the coffin and lifted the top off and exposed the white bedding underneath but there was no body resting in the folds of it.
Chloe backed away from them.
It was all just too easy.
“Now what do we do?” Chloe turned to each of the men looking for an answer and they had none “What are we going to do?” Chloe repeated hoping someone would say something.
“We have to go to her house.” Dean crawled out of the grave.
“What will that do?” Chloe questioned.
“We didn’t want to do this.” Sam started and turned to look away from the grave towards her. “But we think you can see what happen to Jun if we go to her house.”
“What?” Chloe eyes widened a little and she backed away more.
“How is that going to help us?” Lex jumped into the middle, trying to stand up for her.
Sam moved closer to her covered in as much dirt as Lex. “The papers said Jun’s body was found in her room. If Chloe were to go in the room maybe she could see something about how she really died, maybe even where her body really is.”
Dean leaped out of the grave disagreeing with his brother’s suggestion. “We can play this another way. It will be faster if you can get a read off of something in the house but you don’t have to put yourself through more if you’re not ready.”
Looking away from the brothers giving her options as to what would happen next, Chloe thought of her gift and what Lex told her. If she could learn to use her gift she could control it. Her eyes closed and she thought of her mother sitting alone in the asylum waiting for her to help her. Chloe didn’t want to feel as lost as she did but it was time she came into this with everything she had and that included her new found gifts as a seer.
“Okay.” She answered firmly then started to move back towards the Impala.
Before she could get too far away an arm was wrapping around hers. “Chloe you don’t have to do this.” She turned to focus on Lex who looked concerned. “You heard Dean, they can find her another way.”
“I know but this will never be over if I don’t do this.” She put her left hand over his holding on to her. “Nothing is easy for us, is it?”
The boys took a few moments to clean up after making a mess of themselves in a local hotel. The small town of Everett only had one hotel to stay in and the downtown area it was located in held five main buildings.
While Lex and Dean took there time Chloe was leaning against the back of the Impala looking at the near empty town before her. A few people moved up the streets and as she gazed at them Chloe didn’t notice Sam coming up next to her.
“How are you holding up?” His voice sounded behind.
Turning around to greet him with a warm smile Chloe thought about the question for a moment. “I guess as good as one can be about to go do a psychic reading off the house of the dead woman out to kill them.”
“Its good you can keep your sense of humor.” Sam chuckled a little taking up the empty space next to her on the back of the car. After they shared a laugh Sam’s demeanor changed and he admitted something Chloe was expecting. “I know how it feels to have something inside you can’t control.”
Chloe’s brow furrowed and she looked to him looking away from her. “What you saying Sam? You’re a seer?”
“No not exactly.” He paused clearing his throat as if what he had to say was too difficult. “I have visions and let me tell you they hurt like hell but its nothing like being a seer.”
Chloe wasn’t sure if he was telling her this so she wouldn’t be scared but it was helping to hear she wasn’t the only one. “So you’re clairvoyant?”
“That’s one way of putting it. I can’t see what this week’s jack pot will be for the lottery but I have seen how someone dies, I’ve felt it and it’s terrifying not being able to control it yet.” He turned to her leaning against the car. “If you don’t want to do this today you don’t have to. You have been through a lot the past few days and I know the feeling of being forced into something you don’t want to do.”
Chloe reached a hand to his resting on the car as a sign of thanks. “Thanks for sharing that with me. I’m terrified of what will happen but I have to do this if not for me but for my mother.”
He smiled at her warmly and they shared a nice moment out by the car. When they were little Chloe could see why they got along as well as her father said.
“I just want to warn you not to fight what you feel when we get to the house. I fought my gift and I lost someone I loved very much because of it.” Sam finished with those few words and Chloe didn’t get a chance to ask him to elaborate on what he meant because Dean was interrupting him.
“If you’re done with share time we are ready to go.”
Chloe turned to find Dean and Lex exiting the hotel; it was time to go find out what happened to poor Jun.
~~~~)~~~~(~~~~

They were in the middle of nowhere and driving up to the Tyler’s old residence. The place was abandon after Randal Tyler passed away. He was a widower and his other child moved away after the mother died. The word in town was the house wasn’t to be touched after Randal’s death; talk of a haunted house was spoken but no one ever admitted to seeing anything first hand.

The car stopped and, stepping out in front of the old run down farm, Chloe wasn’t sure she was ready to go in but it didn’t matter. She had to go in the house and learn the truth so they could find Jun’s body.

Dean and Sam stepped out first and moved towards the back of the Impala. She joined them with Lex at her side and watched them pull out shot guns.

“Do you really need those?” Chloe was at a loss as to how bullets were going to stop a ghost but they were the experts.

“We are loading them with rock salt, not bullets.” Dean answered sliding in two shells before slamming the gun shut.

“I think the question still stands as to how effective shooting a ghost will be.” Lex spoke up standing next to Sam who was taking the gun Dean loaded.

“Rock salt hurts ghosts.” Sam answered before Dean could make a snide remark.

Dean picked up a second gun from the truck and loaded that one as well. He held it out to Lex. “You think you can handle one of these?”

Lex snatched the weapon from him staring him down. All the way to Everett, Lex and Dean had been at each others throats more than when they first met. “It’s not me I would worry about.” Lex grunted at him taking the weapon from him.

Chloe had to stop things before they started. She was hunting a killer and they were about to fight over a gun. “What will it matter if I’m the only one that can see Jun, not to mention the last time she showed up Dean got knocked on his ass?”

“Hey, it caught me off guard, it won’t happen again.” Dean defended himself without much effect.

“Just point her out to us.” Sam answered her question shaking his head at his brother. “I’ll make sure Dean stays off his ass this time.” Dean turned on his brother’s words; glaring at him having a silent argument. Dean stopped the staring match and filled one last shot gun with the salt shells.

“How is she finding me anyway?” Chloe didn’t really want to ask but she wanted to stall a little more before going in.

“It has to be because your Moira ’s daughter. The ghost has been after her all this time and now you’re in the picture and its latching onto you because of who you are.” Sam explained but it made no sense. Everything was so foreign to her but she had to get used to it and trust that they knew what they were talking about.

“Let’s go.” Dean finished the break they were having and banged the truck shut.

The four of them slowly walked towards the main house of the farm as the sun was starting to set. If it wasn’t so worn down Chloe thought the place could be the Kent Farm. Dean kicked the door to the place open and it fell over on the floor. It seemed unnecessary but they were all on edge holding their guns at the ready. It just seemed like someone could get hurt with the guns in play.

“We should head upstairs to see if we can’t find her room.” Dean directed a nod towards the stairway.

“Right.” Sam agreed and made his way up the stairs first, followed by Dean.

Standing in the worn living room, Chloe was starting to wonder if she could do what needed to be done next. Lex must have seen the worried look on her face and he took her hand into his.

“You don’t have to do this.” He said looking at her with the same worried looked she had.

“Yes, I do.” Chloe squeezed his hand to signal she was all right and Lex took the hint and lead them upstairs.

On the second floor she saw the boys opening doors slowly as if they were police entering the rooms of armed criminals.

“This one.” Sam shouted and entered the room.

Chloe stood and watched Dean go after him and he looked at her clinging to Lex’s hand. The look in his eye was unreadable but it didn’t matter what he thought. Chloe needed Lex with her, he was the only one that understood what it was like not to have any of the answers unlike Sam and Dean.

She let go of his hand and made her way towards the room. Passing the first door, she glanced in and saw the remains of what looked to be a little boy’s room. The next room she passed was the remnants of large bed in the room. When she was at the room the boys went into Chloe paused in the doorway to take in the scene.

There was a twin bed against the wall and an old dresser held a figurine that looked like a ballerina. The air in the room was stale but the breeze from the broken window added the fragrance from the trees surrounding the farm.

“In the shadows.” Chloe heard someone whisper and it couldn’t have been any of the boys.

“Did you hear that?” She questioned.

“Hear what?” Lex spoke behind her in the hallway.

She moved further into the room with Sam to her right. “It has to be Jun. Let it happen don’t fight what she’s going to show you.”

Chloe nodded once then looked to Dean, on her left, holding his gun steady and ready to shoot on her command. She moved into the room further and felt the cut on her hand starting to tingle. Her hand was doing well that morning but slowly it was starting to become very painful.

“He can’t find me.” Chloe heard the whisper again and it was coming from the bed. It sounded as if the voice was hidden under the bed.

Chloe moved towards the bed slowly making Sam side step out of her way. She moved the torn and worn comforter off the top and then something happen she had no control over.

Chloe thought she was standing looking over the bed but once the comforter was moved she was under the bed. A man she had never seen before was searching for her and that man was the cause of Jun’s pain.

“Get up girl!” The man’s voice yelled at her.

“But I didn’t do it daddy.” Chloe answered him but she didn’t know why she said what she did. Something had a hold on her and the memories of the house were flowing through her.

“I said get up girl.” The man’s voice grew louder.

“Chloe are you all right?” Lex called out to her but Chloe didn’t hear him.

She was cowering under the bed but now she was exposed when the entire mattress had been tossed to the side. “Please daddy don’t.” She murmured, Chloe was gone she was lost living Jun’s last moments.

With her head held low she knew she was found as the collar of her dress was being grabbed by her father. Jun was dragged from the floor to her feet. She was tossed to one side of the room and fell to ground with a thud. Her heart was pounding and she wished she had prayed harder for God to keep her father from finding her hidden in the shadows under the bed. Jun wished the shadows she hid from her father protected her better but he would always find her.

“Go out without my permission again girl?” Her father yelled moving towards her quickly.

Before she didn’t see it but when Jun looked up to him she saw the knife he was carrying in his right hand. “Daddy, I’m sorry. Please don’t do this.” Jun knew the knife meant business that he was really drunk this time and furious with her.

He pulled her up again with one hand and pressing her into the wall behind her. She screamed in pain feeling the sting from bruises he placed on her back days before.

“I won’t let you go out ever again.” He said to her with his nostrils flared and fire coming from his mouth. The smell of whiskey also filled her senses and she knew it was his drink of choice.

“I didn’t do anything. Please daddy.” Jun looked to the doorway at her mother with tears in her eyes. “Please momma. Please.” She reached a hand out to her but it was no use. Her mother did what she always did and stood and watched her little girl get beaten.

Without warning Jun felt her father’s fist crunch down on her jaw and the blow knocked her back to ground. She spit blood on to the floor and it was a familiar sight.

“You think that boy cares. He doesn’t” He put his hand on her hair and made her get on her knees pulling her by her long brown hair to make her do so. “I’ll make him stay away from you.”

Jun didn’t think seeing Bobby would ever come out but her father knew she went to see him again. He always knew where she was.

On her knees with blood dripping from her mouth she looked up and saw the knife coming down on the hair he was holding high in the air. Her right hand moved to try and stop the blade but he just sliced her palm opened.

“Don’t you dare try to stop me!” He shouted swiping the knife back again this time taking her hair with him.

Jun screamed looking at her hand dripping with blood while her hair was dropping to the ground. “I’m sorry.” She murmured knowing it was too late to appease him.

“I’ll show you how sorry you are.” He stood her up again planting her to the wall. “You looked at her Tara. You see what your little girl made me do.” Her father shouted at the door way.

“Noooo!!!” Was the last thing Jun heard from her mother before the blade dragged across her throat.

The blood started to pour from her and her father released his grip on her and let her slump to floor slowly. She moved to hold her neck but it was no use, so much of it was on the floor pooling around her. Jun turned from her side to lie flat on her back while she bled out slowly.

Chloe came back into the world she knew to be real; she was on the ground holding her neck. Her neck was burning and felt like blood was spilling all over her then suddenly it was over.

“Chloe!” Lex called out to her; she looked over to see him being held back by Dean.

“Let her be, its part of the gift.” Dean said struggling to keep Lex back.

“Are you back?” She heard Sam’s voice and he was just above her out of her view until she turned her head.

As she came to, lying on the ground in an instant, she saw it all so clear as to what happen next after Jun’s father used the knife on her neck. Without taking notice of the boys running right after her as she sprung to her feet to rush to Jun’s body.

Down the stairs and out the back door Chloe knew exactly where she was going. She was taking the same path Jun’s father took when he took to the back of house. There was huge tree off set from the house and what Chloe sought out to find.

“Chloe please tell us.” She heard Lex’s voice behind her and she did her best to answer.

“She’s here.” Chloe mutter starting to cry. “Her father sliced her throat then took her here.” Chloe could still feel the pain on her neck, the burning of the blade slicing her skin.

“Chloe what do you mean she’s here?” Sam’s voice was what she heard next.

“He was angry with her…drunk.” Chloe mumbled seeing it all in her mind feeling the fear Jun did, feeling her heart pounding from her chest. “She went to see him; she went to see Bobby because he loved her. He was going to save her.”

Dropping to her knees Chloe saw Jun lying in a near by the spot, she was bleeding every where and dying and saw her father dug her grave. “Her father hit her and this time he had a knife. He used it on her hair, she tried to stop him but her hand got in the way.” Chloe looked at her bandaged hand that was throbbing now seeing why Jun wanted her to cut herself there first.

“Chloe what happen next?” Sam said trying to coax the rest from her.

Chloe breathed in the smell of the soil and dug her fingers into the dirt. “She died in here.” She whimpered again. Her eyes squeezed shut and Chloe could feel the dirt falling on top of Jun. The feel of cool soil dropping on her head and falling into her mouth then all over her skin was playing out in Chloe’s mind and all over her body. The pain and blood loss from her neck didn’t allow her to fight it and didn’t allow her to move.

“He buried her alive.” She cried out trying to let Jun’s memories wash over her. “She was bleeding but she wasn’t dead when he tossed her in.” Chloe felt someone touch her shoulder and knew it was Lex. Not turning to him she let the tears flow from her eyes. “She was a lost girl for weeks until they gave up and buried that empty coffin as if she was in it. They lied to people said she was in her room, said she was gone then one day they found her in her room.”

Lex’s hand squeezed her shoulder and she felt him behind her kneeling down with her. “Chloe please look at me. It’s okay now you’re back, you don’t have to say anymore.”

Shaking her head once Chloe felt as if this could be the end but something was wrong. She found the truth and knew what happen to Jun. They just needed to do as Sam said and salt then torch her bones but something was very wrong.

Her body froze in the spot she was in. Her mind went back to Jun huddled under the bed hiding in the shadows of the room. The little bit of light around her from the setting sun seemed to be fading away. The lost of the light meant one thing.

Jun was coming to stop them before they could unearth her body.

“Get away from me” Chloe said nudging Lex back with her shoulder without looking at him. She closed her eyes and something was different then the first time. Jun wasn’t putting her in the trance like before or tossing the boys away from her but the light was still fading away.

“Chloe its okay we are going to get rid of her now.” Lex didn’t move as she asked but tried to turn her towards him.

It was no use because Chloe was focused on the shadow of the woman below her and it was slowly merging with hers. There was nothing she could do to stop it and the boys couldn’t react fast enough as Chloe faded away.

“I said get away.” Chloe repeated but she wasn’t in control of her voice. Her shoulders turned towards Lex still touching her and he jerked back once he saw her.

“Chloe?” Lex murmured looking like all the blood drained from his face.

Jun toyed with Lex and the shadow of her face covered Chloe’s “Chloe’s not here.” She answered him standing to her feet moving over her grave to strengthen her hold on Chloe. “But I’ll keep her safe. She was lost like me but now she’s found.”

Chloe was a lost girl just like she was and Jun was going to help her find herself.

“Jun?” Sam asked pointing the shot gun at her.

She looked at him almost hollowing out a whole into him. “What are you going to do shoot her body?”

“If it gets you the hell out of her, yes we are going to shoot you.” Dean answered.

Jun laughed at the answer and knew it would never happen. All three of them thought they cared for Chloe so much but Jun knew better and she would tell them. “You wouldn’t dare shoot her.”

“What is going on?” Lex said moving back to stand with the Sam and Dean, clutching his gun for dear life. “Chloe are you there?”

“That’s not Chloe.” Sam replied.

Jun smiled wide and watched them process what was going on. Sam and Dean knew she was in there it was all over their faces but Lex was slowly coming to the realization that Chloe was hers now.

“She’s mine now.” Jun didn’t use Chloe’s voice to speak that time. The ominous tone Chloe first heard when she was attacked by Jun was echoing in their ears and Jun wanted it to be the last thing they heard.

This was an excellent update!

What happened to Jun was horrendously sad, and I do feel bad for her, but I don't want her hurting Chloe or her mom anymore.

I hope that Lex, Sam and Dean are able to figure this mess out!

Notes: Sorry that it took so long for me to get to an update for this but here it is. Jun has taken over Chloe’s body but she is still in there. The next Chapter will be in free POV while Jun is Chloe or it could be forever that way if Jun stays in Chloe. You will have to read and see. Anyhow the boys get a little say instead of just hearing from Chloe.

Chapter 9 It’s Over

Jun breathed in deep taking in the air around. She hadn’t possessed a body this fully in ages and the feel of Chloe’s flesh was intoxicating. Her surroundings were very familiar as she stood over her grave. She could still feel the dirt dropping down as her father buried her alive.

“Get out of her!” Dean yelled at her with his shot gun still pointed right at her. He knew he would never use it and if he did it would cause more damage to Chloe than to Jun. As she stood there laughing in their faces the only thing he had to fight with was that gun and he wasn’t pointing it away from her any time soon.

“No.” Jun spoke shaking Chloe’s blonde locks from side to side, getting accustomed to her new body. “I told you she is mine.”

“No she isn’t.” Lex couldn’t stand there and do nothing. He could let Sam and Dean handle it but it wasn’t in his nature to do so. Facing the thing that had been torturing Chloe he was afraid but his fears could be pushed aside. Getting Chloe back was the only thing that mattered.

“We know what happened to you but no one else has to get hurt.” Jun turned to Sam with his gun lowered and his hands raised in defeat. Sam wanted to be rational about this but he knew better than to reason with a ghost that was consumed with hate and revenge. His brother appeared to have other plans pointing the shot gun at Chloe but there was no way he could shoot her.

“All of you think you know her. You think you can see into her but I know Chloe. I know her better then you ever will.” Jun knew things about Chloe that none of them could ever understand. Chloe was fighting her to get free, she was struggling and it was the same with Moira but Jun broke her just like she would break Chloe.

“I know her.” Lex spoke up again moving closer to her.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” Jun new she had a few tricks they weren’t expecting.

Dean moved forward as well thinking he had some kind of upper hand on this thing. “You can’t toss us like you did to me back at the manor. You’re in Chloe’s body now so all your ghost mojo won’t work when you’re in a vessel.” He took a few steps closer thinking of ways to get her away from where she was buried thus severing the link between them.

Jun knew all too well that being inside someone made her weaker but it depended on who she was inside. Chloe was cursed with Moira ’s power but there was more inside her than a pair of seer’s eyes.

“I said stay back.” With one wave of her hand Jun sent them flying back towards the house. She wasn’t going to give up Chloe’s body without a fight.

She watched and waited for them to regroup, wanting to toy with them a little more before she ended them. Sam and Lex were moving but Dean was still flat on his back on the ground. Her focus went to Sam who stood up first. “She’s telekenic.” He murmured realizing what Jun already knew.

Her lips twitched into a grin pushing back Chloe’s cries for her to stop. “That’s right; this little seer has more then one gift. That’s why I have been trying to break her down. Moira was strong but her daughter is a far greater prize.”

“So that’s why your doing this?” Sam moved towards her but he wasn’t going to get far. Holding up Chloe’s hand Jun used her hidden power again and stopped him in his tracks.

She watched him struggling to move, the sweat covering his face and the struggle with his body to do as he asked. “You want to know the truth before you die. You’re all just like Moira ’s doctors. You think you can help but you can’t save something that’s already lost.”

“Chloe’s not lost.” Lex fought to stand; whatever Jun was doing to Sam she wasn’t doing to him. If he could get close enough maybe it would help since it appeared Jun would do anything to keep them from Chloe. “She has more people than you know that care for her.”

Jun knew what he meant; it was one of the reasons it was so hard to keep a hold on Chloe the first time. She was powerless to stop him in the kitchen and she was powerless now as he moved towards her. “You’re just like my Bobby. You think you can save her. You think you have all the answers but you betrayed her. You left her, ignored her, and now you want back in. Now you want to tell her the truth but it’s too little to late.”

“It’s never too late.” Lex was on his feet and was a few steps from where Chloe pointed out as Jun’s true grave. “It’s never too late for me to tell Chloe the truth.”

Jun felt Chloe’s emotions fighting their way to the surface. She closed her eyes trying to keep her back and when she looked towards them, Lex was almost in front of her. “I said stay back.” She tried to move Chloe’s bandaged right hand to wave him away but her left grabbed it.

“No!” Jun wasn’t speaking this time as Chloe fought for control of her voice.

“Keep talking to her.” Sam said as he moved his arms but his feet were still planted to the ground.

Jun was shaking her hand trying to stop it from holding back but it wasn’t working. “Stop it Chloe.” Jun grunted from inside her pushing her back.

“Chloe I know you can hear me and I know you can stop her.” Lex was getting closer and Jun had to do something.

“Don’t you dare try to tell her what to do.” She was pulling for Chloe to let her hand free and fell on her knees to the ground in frustration. “Her mother left her just like mine. She did nothing while he hurt me but I made her pay just like I’m making Moira pay. Moira cursed Chloe and left her all alone.” She paused getting her hand to move back but she still couldn’t control it.

“That’s not true. Moira wanted to protect her that’s why she left. She wanted to protect her from you.” Lex was close now kneeling down next to her. “No one here is going leave Chloe.”

“Stop it Chloe.” Jun screamed from inside her again, Chloe was winning and Jun was losing control. Lex’s words were starting to sink in; it was just like before when she was inside her and she couldn’t hold on. She was only strong enough now because she was so close to her bones lying in her grave.

“Son of a bitch.” Dean yelled coming to his feet. He was still clutching his gun preparing to point it back at Chloe but there were things happening he missed.

“Wait Dean.” Sam was finally able to move and ran to keep his brother back. There was nothing either of them could do but let Lex handle this. “Let Lex talk to her.”

Lex didn’t know what he was doing. There was so much of this that he didn’t understand but if telling the truth would save her then he would tell her everything. His hand reached out to her and almost made contact with her but she moved back.

“Don’t touch her.” Jun’s voice was wavering and she could feel Chloe coming closer.

Ignoring her plea, Lex moved closer to her. Both his hands went for her face moving it to lock eyes with her. He was looking at her but there was no sign of the Chloe he knew any where in her eyes. “You right Jun. I ran away but I’m not running now. Chloe is nothing like you. She’s stronger then any person I know and she’s not going to let you take over her body like this.”

“Tell Chloe the truth Lex.” Dean knew this was coming he saw it the moment he met them both. Even if Chloe was interested in him, even if he had a chance it would all be lost when this was over. His life didn’t allow for such things anyway. It may have been for the best but he couldn’t help but feel the burning in his chest watching them together.

Lex could hear Dean behind him and he was right, it was time to let it go. “Chloe I know you can hear me and I want you to know that I’m sorry. You were right about what I said in the kitchen. I called you love because I love you. I have been in love with and have been too afraid to admit it. It’s long past to tell you the truth. Like I said before I owe you more then this. After everything I’ve done I never wanted finding your mother to turn out like this.”

“Lex?” Chloe finally used her voice. She whispered Lex’s name after hearing him admit the truth about what she had assumed for so long. There were always hints but now it was all out in the open. “Get back.” Chloe said to him looking at him in a way she hoped he would understand.

He got up as she asked and moved back. He didn’t know what was going to happen but the look in her eyes told him she could deal with it. When Jun was in control it was clear and once Chloe was back Lex could see it just looking into her eyes.

“Out…” Chloe started but Jun tried to stop her. There was a moment of inner struggle with in her before she could start again. “Out of the light…” She started again but Jun pushed her back. Chloe felt her eyes welling up with tears and her body was shaking all over. She knew what she had to do and knew she was only one that could do it. “Out of the light and into the shadows.”

Once her mother’s chant was said Jun had lost her hold but Chloe wasn’t letting her go. She was pulling her spirit inside of her and she wasn’t going too hide anymore.

“Sam, Dean, get what you need I’m digging her up.” Chloe moved way from the grave and turned away from the boys.

“No, let her go Chloe.” Sam didn’t know why but he could feel something was wrong. He knew she was still holding on to her and the longer she was inside the worse it would be for Chloe.

“I have to do this just get what you need now.” Chloe struggled on her knees to face the large tree just above Jun’s grave. She felt what Jun did when she moved the boys with her mind and if she could do it then Chloe could too.

“Chloe what are you doing?” Lex’s voice was just behind her. He watched Sam and Dean run off into the house; heading for the car to retrieve the things they needed. If she was buried there they had to get to bones then, they would have to dig her up but Chloe was about to do something Lex had no idea she had the power to do.

“I can’t let her go. I won’t let her hurt anybody else.” Chloe keep saying her mother’s chant in her mind hoping it would do something to dull Jun’s cries inside her. Her hands planted flat on the grass and her eyes closed. She let her minds eye drift to Jun’s body. She went back to what she saw when Jun was being buried by her father. The image was so clear that she tried to use what Jun felt that night to move the body buried a few feet below.

Lex stood in awe as the ground shook in front of Chloe. Slowly rising to the surface was a skeleton. “Oh god.” He always knew she was strong but seeing what she could do now Lex had no idea how powerful Chloe really was.

Dean and Sam appeared just in time to see what Lex was seeing; Jun’s bones were before them waiting to be taken care of. “Come on.” Dean nudged his brother out of the same trance he was in and moved towards the grave.

Chloe opened her eyes and saw she had done. “Out of the light into the shadows.” She whispered to herself trying to keep her hold on Jun.

“Hurry up!” Lex screamed watching them toss salt all over the bones. He could see Chloe shaking and could hear her murmuring to herself.

“Chloe let her go.” Sam called out to her striking a match and tossing it on the bones.

It was what she was waiting for and Chloe let her go. They all looked at the flames before them and for the first time Lex, Dean and Sam saw what Chloe had seen for weeks.

Jun’s spirit was before them bleeding from the neck. Her face covered in her brown hair, she was screaming out in pain until the flames consumed her worn, dark body and there was nothing to be seen. The fire burning in front of her Chloe could feel the heat and could feel it was over. She closed her eyes and there was nothing left for to do but fall back and let go.

As she awaited the feel of the ground behind her as she fell back but never made it there. She felt arms settle around her and when she opened her eyes, she was greeted with Lex’s worried looked.

“It’s over.” He whispered to her.

Chloe thought it was over and it felt like it was over but there was still one more thing to say. “I love you too.” She said before passing out in Lex’s arms.

~~~~)~~~~(~~~~
Chloe didn’t know what time it was, she didn’t know where she was but she knew she’d been asleep. She was tired of passing out but there wasn’t much she could do about it. There were so many things about herself she didn’t know and today she reached her limit as to what she could do.
Opening her eyes slowly Chloe knew right away where she was staring at; the old wallpaper was falling off the wall in front of her. The old hotel they checked into in Everett had to be the place she been sound asleep in for the past few hours.
“You’re awake?” Chloe turned to the side and sitting in a chair close by the bed was Lex reaching out to her. He looked just as worn and tired as she felt.
She gave him a weak smile as he did the same. Chloe tried to move up in the bed but Lex wasn’t having it. His hands moved to her shoulders holding her down. “There is no need to rush.”
“I’m not rushing.” Chloe tried to move again ignoring him being as stubborn as ever. Lex sat back in his chair letting her have her way. Just as she was lifting her head it fell back to the pillow below. “Okay maybe I won’t rush.”
“You never listen to me.” Lex shook his head at her marveled by how quickly she seemed to be recovering.
Not really wanting a lecture or really wanting to talk at all Chloe just wanted to go back to sleep. “What are you doing over there anyway?”
His eyes slanted down as he answered. “We weren’t going to leave Everett until the morning. I wanted to let you rest. Sam said you used a lot of energy doing what you did. He also said it was reckless and dangerous and that you could have died.”
Even though Chloe didn’t want a lecture she was still getting one. His answer as to his current location wasn’t what she meant and she would have to speak plainly if anything was going move forward. “I was wondering why you were watching me sleep instead of getting in the bed and sleeping with me.”
He blinked a few times before actually realizing what she was getting at. “Chloe, now that I know you are okay I think I should go to my own room.”
Her eyes widened and Chloe tried to move again. The last thing she remembered was telling Lex she loved him. She admitted something that was lingering at the surface for almost a year. Back at the manor he seemed fine with staying with her but now things were different.
Now that the truth was out there was also something else between them. Chloe had powers. She was like so many of the meteor freaks she added to her wall of weird data base.
She looked away from him back to the old wallpaper and let the thought sink in. Lex wasn’t in love with the Chloe that he saw that day.
“I understand if you’re scared.” She started and paused not sure if he would understand. After the deafening silence she went on. “I would be afraid of me to if I saw what I did tonight. Actually, I am afraid of myself.” Not looking at him Chloe just waited for him to walk out like he always did. He was only there to see if she was okay and now that he knew, Lex would just walk away from her again.
“I’m not afraid of you.” Chloe turned her head to him; he was sitting on the edge of his seat reaching out to touch her hand resting on the bed. “The last few weeks haven’t been easy for me… to be so close to something that I can’t have. I’m not trying to be selfish but I don’t want to do anything you’re not ready for.”
This was by far the strangest conversation Chloe ever had with Lex. She put her life in his hands and they had been through so much since then but this maybe more than she could handle. Now they both admitted to having feelings for the other and it seemed things wouldn’t just go back to the norm.
Chloe thought back to the night before; Lex was touching her in a place he might have never done when he was awake but she didn’t mind. In fact she liked it. If he was worried about that then she could calm his fears easily.
“Lex, if you’re worried about touching me like you did the night before it’s all right.” Trying to move up again it was no use, she was too drained to move from the spot she was in. The only thing she was left with was moving her hand around his. “I liked the way you were holding me.”
He didn’t say anything, took his hand away and then rose to his feet. “I don’t want you to feel like I’m taking advantage of you. As if everything will instantly be different after what I said to you.”
Chloe rolled her eyes at him. “Lex, I may have been distressed about all this ghost business and doing everything I could to save my mother but I’m still me. Underneath all of it I’m still Chloe and even if I didn’t say the words until now I know what I want and I want you to get in this bed.”
“I’m sorry.” He answered her and tried to look away but Chloe wouldn’t allow it.
Jun said so many things that were true. Lex did hurt her when he ignored her that year. There were moments when she even thought that he had used her to get to Lionel but today told her different. Lex was afraid to tell her the truth; he was as scared as she was about what was happening. Everything came together when he told her the truth.
Chloe reached out and used the last bit of strength she had to grab his hand before he could start walking towards the door. “I already forgive you. Now stop pushing me away and get in the bed.” He had to hear the annoyance in her voice and Chloe wasn’t going to let him get off so easily.
“Fine, stop trying to be the boss, I’m supposed to be taking care of you.” Lex sat back in the seat he was in and kicked off his shoes. She could see the hint of a grin through his seriousness as he prepared himself for bed.
As he readied himself she looked down at what she was wearing for the first time since she woke up. Her body was under the covers and she was lying on her back. She reached her banged hand over her body and she wasn’t wearing any pants. A panic washed over her as she thought about the fact she wasn’t wearing any pants. Her hand moved up her thigh, then higher until she was satisfied that she was still in her panties. As she moved up further she found that the shirt she put on was still in place.
“Where are my pants?” She questioned while Lex undid his button up shirt to reveal the dark t-shirt he was wearing underneath.
“They had mud all over them so, when I put you in the bed, I covered you up and pulled them off. I didn’t see anything if that’s what you worried about.” He paused and stopped at the last button.
Chloe didn’t know why she was panicking but the thought of Lex seeing her almost nude worried her. But he hadn’t seen anything and just didn’t want her to be covered in mud.
“Do want to change into something?” Lex waited for her to answer but Chloe didn’t have one.
She thought about it for a moment and there was really nothing wrong with it. If Lex loved her then he would have to love every inch of her even if she wasn’t perfect. “No I don’t need to change.” She replied.
Out of his pants and just wearing his t-shirt and boxers Lex moved to the other side of the bed and worked his way under the covers. “I hope you weren’t self conscious about me seeing you. I assure you, your body is more than pleasing to look at.”
“Really?” Chloe drawled turning her head towards him.
Lex rested on his side and moved his hand to the curve of her cheek. “Really.” He whispered to her and moved close enough to kiss her but he waited for Chloe to close the small gap between their lips.
Her eyes closed and she let her head lean into his lips kissing him softly. It was strange at first but as the kiss carried on between them it started to feel natural. He pulled away slowly and Chloe felt the energy return to her body.
She arched herself towards him and moved her hand sliding it around his necking nudging him to her. “You don’t have to stop.” She told him before their lips collided with each other again.
Getting more feeling back in her body, Chloe moved closer to him the best she could letting his tongue move passed her lips into her mouth. There was no time to wrap her mind around the fact that she was kissing Lex Luthor. The only thing that mattered was that he was kissing her back and the kiss was awakening things inside her she thought were long passed.
His hand moved from her cheek down her neck then lower to the top curve of her breast. Chloe moaned his mouth at the sudden feel of his touch and Lex pulled away as if he did something wrong.
“We shouldn’t do this. There is no need to rush.” He moved his hand away from her and tried to release his neck from her hold on him.
Chloe let her hand loosen but moved it up the back of his head teasing the curve of his skull. His eyes closed and he sighed as if the tiny gesture was too much to handle. “Personally I think we have been moving too slow.” As she watched and waited for him to open his eyes Chloe let her hand explore Lex’s head then moved towards his face to stroke the lines of his jaw.
He was turned on taking in her touch as if it was the best thing he ever had then, closing his eyes as she gave long lingering strokes. “Are you sure?”
To anyone else the conversation they were having may not make sense but Chloe could speak to Lex without saying a word and the past few days she was reminded of that. The feeling of something lingering around them and haunting them when ever they were alone was between them now.
She could feel the tension and him holding back but he didn’t have to. Talking would come but at that moment Chloe needed him to do more than hold her. From the looks of it Lex could tell he needed more as well.
“Look at me.” Chloe moved up in the bed not feeling as drained as she did when she first woke but the arousal growing at her center was pushing her forward. Once she was at eye level with him she waited for his eyes to open. As they slowly did she could see how much they shared the desire to be with one another. “I’m sure.”
His eyes opened in a flash and he had to see what she could see in him. Before she could adjust he was leaning back to her. His lips pressed into her and the attacked was wanted. His hands went back to the curve of her cheek and back down her neck and as he descended upon her breast, this time, he didn’t stop but moved lower to cup the larger mass in his hand.
She was asking for things to move forward and Lex was complying. His hands didn’t stop moving as they kissed. The sound of him groaning low in his throat, the musky smell over him above her and the weight him moving closer to her filled her senses. His mouth moved down from her lips kissing their way towards her neck and the feel of his teeth nipping her neck gave Chloe more energy than she realized.
“Lex…” His name came from her breathlessly; he must have taken it the wrong way because he was stopping again and pulling away from being buried in her neck.
“Did I hurt you?” The concern in his eyes couldn’t be mistaken. They would have to get used to this change in their relationship.
“No, that was a good moan.” Chloe’s hand was still locked firmly around his neck; pulling back towards her without rejection. He gave the slightest grin before going back to her mouth.
Chloe hadn’t felt things in a long time and never been this aroused without her own hands involved in the matter. They both seemed desperate clawing at one another touching uncharted territory. Lex’s hand moved down the folds of the blankest spreading her legs apart to all him accesses to her heated arousal. Her body’s response was to arch forward wanting his touch.
He tore himself away from her lips to look down below him. The look in his eyes was so unlike the Lex she thought she knew. Everything else in the room felt far away and Lex was moving the length of her thigh, pushing pass the thin fabric of her panties. The warmth of his hand spreading the folds of her arousal were all she wanted to feel but something was wrong.
For a few moments things between them weren’t complicated. “Do you know how long I have wanted this?” The question didn’t need an answer because Chloe had a feeling she’d been waiting long as he was, maybe longer.
Her hands moved to pull up the t-shirt he was wearing but she stopped. A dark presence was in the room and Chloe couldn’t push away. Her seers abilities were interrupting them; the feeling was familiar as if she’d felt it before.
The look in her eyes had to alarm Lex and he moved his hand way. “What is it?”
Chloe pushed him back away from her and sat up in the bed. “I don’t know?” She murmured looking around the room for something…. for anything.
She threw back the covers of the bed and let her legs fall to the ground. Standing in her panties and shirt Chloe took one step forward and was frozen in her tracks. Her eyes lay upon the thing she thought she’d gotten rid of.
“Chloe!” Lex yelled her name moving to stand next her and he had to see it as well.
“Does he make you feel good?” Jun’s voice rang out in the room. The blood dripping from her neck was covering her entire body seeing her in the light of the room for the first time. The shadows that seemed to fill in space she was in quickly washed over the room. “To bad it won’t last.” Jun spoke again and then she was gone.
Chloe didn’t notice it until then but Lex was clutching her hand. She looked at him in his boxers and t-shirt and it looked like he was trembling. “We have to get Sam and Dean.” She said finally but it was too late for that.
Lex’s hand was suddenly ripped away from hers and Chloe turned quickly to focus on Jun standing in front of Lex. She was facing him and Lex was looking at her but his feet weren’t on the ground. He was hoisted in the air pressed against the far wall in the room. Jun had one hand wrapped around his neck and her head was turned looking at Chloe.
Frozen in place Chloe didn’t’ know what to do not wanting to believe after everything Jun was standing in front of her.
“Chloe.” Lex tried to say her name but the sound of his voice was so strained as if the life was being choked out of him.
“You thought it was over didn’t you?” Jun turned her head to Lex and Chloe saw the back of her head and the hair that her father cut away from her. “It will never be over.” Jun said her final words and she was gone in flash.
Lex fell to ground and Chloe ran to him. She pulled his body towards her but he wasn’t moving. He was still breathing but she couldn’t wake him up from the state he was in. As the tears started to flow from her eyes Chloe let Jun’s words ring in her mind.
It was far from being over.
Chapter 10 Natural
Sitting in the old hotel Chloe couldn’t do anything but watch Lex. She was sitting in the same chair Lex was in when she woke, now it was her turn to watch him. He was out since Jun last appeared and after two hours of sitting it didn’t look like he was going to wake up.
“We have to do something?” Chloe could hear Sam whisper to Dean behind her.
They were standing behind her pacing, wondering what to do just like she was. Chloe called their room and they both came bursting in to find her on the ground with Lex in her arms. Chloe went through the order of events while they moved him to the bed. Then noticed she was nearly naked and rushed to put on some clothes.
Now they were just standing there while Chloe sat panicking more then ever. She hadn’t saved her mother and now Lex was hurt. Her gift couldn’t save Moira or Lex and it wasn’t going to save her self.
“We need to question the mother.” She heard Dean whisper to Sam.
Chloe was tired of them plotting behind her, as if she wasn’t there, and spoke while keeping her eyes on Lex who was sound asleep. “You don’t have to whisper; tell me what we’re going to do.”
“Chloe, we will handle it from here.” She felt Sam touch her shoulder and nudged him away.
If they thought they were going to handle it they were wrong. So far, Chloe let them handle it and now Lex was hurt. She breathed in, stood up and faced them. “You have been handling everything so far and look where we are. Look at him.” She motioned behind her with her hand making her point.
“Chloe you need to calm down.” Dean tried to move toward her but she backed away from him.
“Don’t tell me what to do; Lex has been like this for two hours. You are going to tell me what “We” are going to do about this and not what “You” are going to do about it. This is my ghost and I will be apart of sending her ass right to hell.” Breathing out the fire inside her Chloe didn’t know what she was doing but the boys did.
The look in their eyes was one of shock as she stood there yelling at them. “What?!” Chloe shouted at them both.
Sam moved towards her slowly putting his hands on her arms. “Dean is right you should calm down.” He motioned her to look to her side then stepped back and Chloe didn’t expect to see what she did.
She was so wrapped in her anger that she didn’t realize she was using her power. The dresser in the room was floating along with the old tv set in the corner next to the lamp in the room was doing the same; hovering a few feet above the ground. Everything seemed to have a life of its own, even the bed Lex was lying in.
Taking in a deep breathe Chloe spoke calmly. “How do I stop it?”
“Sometimes your powers are connected to your emotion so you should…” Sam started then Dean finished.
“Calm down.” He answered sarcastically, indicating what he already noted.
Chloe didn’t need his sarcasm at a time like this and his remark only made things worse as the chair behind her started to rise in the air. But she couldn’t let herself go so far when Lex’s life was now in danger.
She closed her eyes and let her mind clear then focused on what she needed to do now. Her mother needed her, Lex needed her and she would have to keep her power in check to help them. When she opened her eyes things had gone back to normal in the room.
Looking right at the boys watching her she wanted to hear their plan. “Okay now you can talk to me.”
Dean started again with what he was mentioning to Sam. “There is something else keeping Jun to this world and I suggest we talk to her mother.”
“Do we even know where her mother is?” Chloe questioned.
“She’s still in town. We went ahead and looked up her family members while you slept before we headed out here. Her last known whereabouts are at an address near by.” Sam answered her while Dean stood in wait.
She could see they were holding something back from her and they would have to tell her. “What about her father, he’s the one that killed her wouldn’t he know more than the mother?”
“He’s dead Chloe.” Dean answered. “His throat was slashed a month after Jun was buried.”
Chloe’s mind went right to her mother. Jun had toyed with her mother for years, one day she would let her press hard enough; one day her mother could meet the same fate as Jun’s killer just because she wanted to help her.
“Then what’s the plan? Are we going right now it’s the middle of the night?” She watched them look at one another as if they were silently debating what to do. There was no time to think about it and Chloe let it be known. “Answer me. I won’t stand here anymore while the people I love are being hurt by this bitch. I want to get rid of Jun and I want to do it now. Tell me what to do you’re the professionals.”
They both stood still as she spoke and once she was done the tears in her eyes and the look on her face had them scared. Dean walked towards her placing his hand on her shoulder trying to comfort her. “Someone has to stay here with Lex. Are you really going to leave him alone?”
She didn’t want to admit it but he was right someone need to stay with Lex. She turned away from Dean to look at Lex lying in the bed, he appeared to be sound asleep but she didn’t know what Jun was doing to him in his mind. Dreaming of Jun night after night was still fresh in her mind and Lex could be having those dreams as they stood there.
There was someone that could stay with Lex and Chloe only hoped he would understand then come running. “I know someone.” She replied turning away from them to find her bag on the far side of the room. Once her cell phone was in her hand she pushed the number four on her speed dial and the phone started to ring.
The phone was answered and a familiar voice spoke. “Hello.”
“Clark I need you.” Chloe didn’t want to scare him but she sounded urgent.
“Where are you Chloe? Where have you been the past few weeks? Is Lex with you because I haven’t seen him around either?” Clark kept rattling off questions but Chloe wasn’t going to answer any of them.
“I can’t tell you everything right now but it’s about my mother and I need your help.” She answered him then looked behind her at the boys.
He took a moment; she couldn’t believe he was thinking it over until his voice sounded again. “If it’s about your mother you know I want to help. Where are you?”
Chloe sighed, relieved that Clark may not be perfect but he came through when she needed him most. “I’m about an hour outside of Smallville in Everett. I’m in the town’s hotel; in room number five. Please hurry if you know what I mean.”
Asking Clark to use his super speed was tricky. She wasn’t going to tell Sam and Dean about who Clark really was and she wasn’t going to tell Clark about who Sam and Dean really were. There were so many secrets to keep and now she had her own abilities to hide.
“Okay I’ll be there in a second.” Clark ended the call and a second was all he needed.
She hung up the phone and placed it down then reached for her jacket to ready herself to leave with the boys. Dean moved closer to her and reached out to touch her shoulder. “We don’t have time to wait. If you want us to help Lex now then Sam and I are leaving.”
Chloe removed his hand from her then pulled her arms through the jacket. “Trust me you won’t have to wait long.” Just as she spoke there was a knock at the door. “That’s him.”
She moved passed Dean to the door; didn’t see him and Sam share a confused looked. Opening the door Clark Kent stood before her; he looked the same as always in jeans and a flannel shirt. She hugged him and Clark let his large arms wrap around her.
“I’m here, now tell me what’s going on.”
Chloe let him go to allow him into the room. She watched Clark sizing up the space as he walked. His eyes went to Sam on his left then Dean on his right and finally settled on Lex lying in the bed. He took the few steps toward the bed then turned to Chloe looking more confused then ever. “What’s wrong with Lex? What did he do to you?”
This wasn’t the time to listen to Clark accuse Lex of doing something when he was hurt. So much changed concerning her feelings towards Lex but Chloe couldn’t blame him for anything that was happening after what he’d done to find her mother.
Moving in behind Clark she touched his shoulder which caused him look at her. “Clark, like I said on the phone there is no time to explain. I just need you to stay here with Lex.”
“Shouldn’t we take him to the hospital, he’s unconscious?” Clark was starting to get frantic and the boys were more eager than ever to leave.
“This is about my mother and now Lex has been pulled into it.” Chloe looked into his eyes and tried to get him to understand with that one look. His face softened some but she knew he would want to know everything when she returned.
“So you really found her this time.” Clark reached out to touch her shoulder. He knew this was important to her and she hoped that was enough to make him stay.
“Yes, Lex found her.”
He backed away from her slightly moving his hand away from her. “So, where is your mother? Why are you out here in the middle of nowhere? Who are these guys?” Clark pointed behind her at Sam and Dean looking at him in confusion.
“Clark calm down.” Chloe moved toward him getting his focus back on her and off the boys. “They are going to help Lex and they are going to help my mother. I have to go with them and I need you to trust me. I need you to stay here with Lex. Once we do what we need to, Lex will be fine and my mother will be as well.”
His hands were fisted at his sides, she could see he didn’t like the way things were going but Clark was going to come through for her. “I’ll stay but if you come back and he’s the same we really should take him to a hospital.”
Chloe nodded once and moved to give Clark one last quick hug. “Thank you Clark.”
She walked away from him towards the bedside to look at Lex one last time before she left. Leaning down over him she whispered in his ear. “I’ll fix this.”
Chloe did something else that would send Clark into frenzy but it would have to wait. Her head moved over Lex who was sound asleep; she hoped he wasn’t in pain. She let her lips brush against his seeking to give him some comfort then turned to leave before Clark started to question her about the kiss.
As she moved towards Sam and Dean they followed after her out the door. It was late but it wasn’t late enough to pay Jun Tyler’s mother a visit.
Once they were all in the Impala Dean didn’t start the car. He looked to the back seat, “Are you going to tell us how the hell your friend got here so fast?”
She knew the question was coming. “I can’t tell you how but he’s a good friend and he’ll do as I ask.”
“Chloe are you sure, maybe you should stay.” Sam turned to her in the back as well.
“We are finishing this tonight. Do you understand?” Chloe looked between the two of them, her eyes slanted at them, she meant every word. She was going stop Jun tonight no matter what.
“We understand.” Dean spoke as he started the car and they pulled off into the night.
~~~~)~~~~(~~~~

It was nearly eleven at night when they arrived at the old country house that Jun’s mother was residing in. As they walked to the door Chloe wasn’t sure how this would play out.

“What are you going to tell her? It’s the middle of the night.” As she followed behind the boys towards the front door of the run down home they seemed as determined as she was to get Jun once and for all.

Dean was trying to hide the gun he took from the truck of the car before he answered her. “Let us do the talking.” He turned to look at her making his point with a nod.

There wasn’t time to argue with him and Chloe was going to do as told for once. Just at the door Dean raised his hand to knock while Sam turned to look at her. “If you see or feel anything let us know.”

Chloe nodded and tried to think of how she felt back at the farm house. If she could focus on that then sensing Jun would be easier. She let her emotions get the best of her in the hotel room and her new found powers had a mind of their own. She couldn’t scare this woman off by letting her emotions get out of hand again.

After waiting a few moments someone was speaking back from the other side of the door and it was clearly the voice of a woman. “Who is it?”

“We need some help. We are lost and we were hoping you could lend us a hand.” Sam yelled at the door and they all stood in wait.

During the ride to the house Sam filled Chloe in what Jun’s mother life was like after her daughter was murdered. Mrs. Tyler left her farm home shortly after her husband died. She stayed in Everett but lived on the other side of the small town away from her old home. The woman never remarried and did her best to stay out of the public eye after her daughter and husband died with in a month of each other.

“Hold on.” The female voice sounded again and then the door was being unlocked. When it started to open it stopped short only exposing a bit of light streaming from the inside into the night air.

“We just want to use your phone.” Dean spoke looking down at the woman hiding inside. If this was Mrs. Tyler she looked rather worn. Her head was still hiding behind the door but Chloe could make out one leg covered in a dingy pair of khaki pants.

“There is a hotel in the main part of town you should go there.” She pushed the door closed again on her final word.

“No wait?” Chloe finally spoke up when the door shut but the sound of the lock snapping quickly followed the door closing. “Now what?” She asked looking to Dean for answers.

Dean turned heading off the porch of the house. “Now we snoop.”

Chloe watched Sam nod in agreement and went around one side of the house. Dean grabbed her hand and started to lead them around the other side of the house. “Stay close.”

“What are we looking for?” Chloe squeezed his hand looking to ground herself not really caring that he just grabbed her.

“We are looking for a way in.” Dean checked the first window and it didn’t open.

“Dean.” The sound of Sam’s voice was coming from around the corner of the house. Still holding on to Chloe’s hand he dragged her around the back to meet him.

They were all staring at a set of double doors leading down to a basement. Chloe felt a jolt run down her spin the feeling was familiar. “Jun is here.”

“Where?” Dean let go of Chloe’s hand and turned around in a circle until Sam stopped him by reaching for his arm.

“No you idiot. Listen, can’t you hear her talking to someone?” Sam started.

“I can feel her and I think she’s in there.” Chloe added.

“Why didn’t you say so?” Dean pulled the handle to the door but Sam stopped him from opening it by grabbing his hand.

“Wait, listen.” Sam leaned down closer to door, they all did the same.

The faint sound of Mrs. Tyler’s voice could be heard. It was muffled but it sound like she was chanting something. Her voice that low sounded just like Jun when Chloe first met her telling her she would be hers.

“She’s chanting.” Sam noted.

“Yeah.” Dean agreed. “She’s the one that brought her back.”

They were having a conversation Chloe didn’t understand. “What? How did she bring her back?”

“She most likely chants to a demon that can keep Jun in this world as a ghost.” Sam answered her but something went wrong.

His body was kneeling next to her at the basement door but he flew back away from her. “Sam!” Chloe screamed; he was now on the other side of the backyard. Before she could stand Jun was in front of her.

“Stay away from my mother.” Jun’s voice was shrill and even in the dark Chloe could see the blood streaming from her neck. Her head was spinning from the last time Jun was inside and Chloe couldn’t let it happen again.

“Move Chloe.” Dean pushed her aside and a shot rang out. Chloe looked up and Jun was gone. The rock salt shot did the trick and Jun disappeared.

“Sammy you all right?” Dean called out to him then moved to help Chloe to her feet.

“I’m fine go.” Sam was trying to get to his feet but Chloe’s attention went to the double doors.

Chloe stepped back while he swung the doors open and thankfully they weren’t locked. Dean moved in first then stopped. “Go first if you see her point her out.”

Chloe nodded, she was terrified but moved down the five steps into the basement. She saw the back of the woman at the front door wearing the khaki pants; it was Jun’s mother chanting.

Looking behind her Dean was right there with his shot gun in hand and Sam was now not far behind. When she turned her head back she was going to call to the woman but Jun was between them. Jun didn’t speak a word but shadows crept in and snuffed out the light in the room.

“Chloe move.” Dean called out to her again but she didn’t move. She didn’t move and kept her eyes on Jun.

“Please leave her alone.” Mrs. Tyler spoke up now, her hair was pulled back tight and her face was red and covered with tears. There was no telling how much this woman had suffered. “She’s my baby.”

“She’s a murderer.” Chloe responded. This woman may have suffered but it didn’t give her to right to put others through the same.

“Chloe move.” Dean called to her again and Chloe backed away; the shot gun went off again sending Jun away and the lights in the room returned.

Sam stepped ahead of her. “Where’s the shrine?”

The three of them moved past the woman begging them to stop. “Please. I let her die but I need her to live. I need to repay her for not saving her.”

“Shut up lady.” Dean said as he moved past her.

Chloe’s eyes rested on what the woman was looking at. In the center of it all was a picture of Jun and it looked like happier times for her. “Is this the shrine to the demon?” Chloe questioned.

“Yes.” Sam said moving towards the table.

“There has to be an amulet.” Dean said joining him at the table.

“I said leave my daughter alone.” Jun’s mother was shouting behind them and now coming at them with, what looked like, a broom handle.

Without thinking Chloe moved her hand to push her back but she never made contact with her, her powers took over sending the woman flying across the room.

As the woman went flying the room became dark again and Jun appeared in front of her. “Dean!” Chloe screamed as she moved out of the way and, a second later, the shot gun went off letting go of another round of rock salt.

“Where is the damn thing? I’m sick of this one.” Dean said turning back to the table.

Sam was still filtering through the shrine then came back victorious with the amulet. “I got it.”

“Good.” Dean answered then moved to kick the table over.

“Why did you do that?” Chloe was so confused but they both seemed pleased as if it was over this time.

“It’s over Chloe.” Sam said moving close to her handing her the amulet. “She can’t bring Jun back without this and the shrine.”

Chloe gripped the oddly shaped metal in her hand and nodded once at him. “What about her?” Looking behind her Jun’s mother was still on the ground starting to get up after Chloe tossed her.

“We should have a chat with her.” Dean quipped

“I’ll do it.” Chloe spoke up moving towards the woman. Once she was hovering over her, she didn’t know why but, she wanted to hurt this woman for hurting her family; for hurting Lex. But she couldn’t do it. Jun said they were alike but Chloe didn’t want to be anything like her. She didn’t want to be a murder.

“It’s over now Mrs. Tyler.” Chloe extended her hand to help her to her feet. The woman wouldn’t take it and she scrambled to stand on her own.

“Give that back to me.” The woman tried to reach for the amulet and Chloe pulled it back away from her.

“Your daughter is dead and it wasn’t your fault. I saw what happened. I saw your husband attack her. Jun was so scared of him and you were scared of him. But your husband killed her. Your husband took her away and I’m so sorry for that but she can’t come back. She’s killing people, she’s hurting my mother. She took her away from me for thirteen years and now its time to stop.”

“I didn’t know. I found a book it could bring her back so I did but I didn’t know.” The woman started shivering and tears flooded her eyes. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know. She was so angry when I brought her back. I’m so sorry.”

Chloe knew this woman had been through a lot and she reached to let her cry on her shoulder resting her head there. As the woman cries turned into harsh sobs Chloe heard Dean’s voice behind her.

“We should go and check on Lex.”

She let the woman go and turned to walk out of the basement with the boys leaving the woman behind to deal with what she had done. This time she would have to grieve. Chloe was holding the amulet tightly in her palm making sure she had no other choice but to face the truth. Jun was dead and needed to stay that way.

“You guys do this all the time?” Chloe asked them as they made it back to the car.

“Just another day.” Dean said placing the guns back into the truck. Then, he turned to look at her smirking as he slammed the truck shut.

“Right, just another day.” Chloe said really not believing it could be possible to do this everyday.

They loaded into the car to make there way back to the hotel. Chloe could only hope that it was over and Lex was all right.

~~~~)~~~~(~~~~
The three of them stood at the hotel door waiting for Chloe to open it. When she did she found Clark and Lex sharing a long stare. “Hi.” Chloe spoke up and both men looked to her.
Lex’s face softened and a small, but still noticeable smile, formed on his lips. “Chloe.” He said her name rather sweetly as if he wasn’t just staring angrily at Clark.
“You’re okay.” Chloe spoke moving into the room; she moved her way into his arms letting it settle in that it really was over this time.
“Thank you.” Lex spoke to the boys at the door. He moved her back to look at him and his hand moved to cup the curve of her face. “Thank you too.” He said to Chloe, it was good see him up and moving about.
“You’re welcome.” She said to him and, without any worry for the people in the room, Chloe leaned up to kiss him letting her mouth cover his.
“Chloe?!” She could hear Clark’s high pitched voice say her name.
She pulled back away from her kiss to look back at Clark from Lex’s side. “I promise to explain when we get home.”
“He’s not the only one you have to explain to.” Lex added looked down at her. Chloe assumed he would have question as to why she left him in the care of Clark Kent but she couldn’t leave him alone.
“Yes I will explain when we get home.” Chloe didn’t want to let go of Lex but she did to appease Clark for the moment. So much had changed since she left the Talon a few weeks ago with Lex in search of her mother.
“Did everything go okay?” Lex spoke taking the hint that there were too many eyes on them for them to be so close but he didn’t let go of her left hand letting her bruised hand fall to her side.
“She did great.” Dean answered.
“Yeah Chloe’s a natural.” Sam added.
“I just screamed a lot.” Chloe replied.
“Yeah, there is going to be a lot of explaining when we get back.” Clark spoke up moving to take a seat in the chair behind him.
“Don’t underestimate yourself, you did great.” Dean said to her smiling. She could see he was mocking how close she was with Lex after what she said about him when they first met.
Chloe rolled her eyes at him then looked around the room. There were four men surrounding her, they all cared for her and were there to help her and her mother. It was a nice feeling and it was even nicer to have Lex clinging to her hand keeping her close to him.
“I think its time to go see my mother.” Chloe said looking to Lex who nodded once. “I want you guys to come to.” She spoke turning to Sam and Dean that nodded in agreement as well. It was long day and it was finally over.
Chloe was ready to see her mother so they could reunite at last
Things settled for the rest of the night and they stayed in Everett until late in the morning. Clark left and Chloe promised she would explain everything once she got back from seeing her mother. It was harder explaining to Sam and Dean how Clark got there so fast because Dean wasn’t letting it go but Lex managed to make him leave the room without answers.
Chloe didn’t get to pick up where she left off with Lex that night because sleep took over but she didn’t have to sleep alone. It was strange to cuddle up against him at first but Lex didn’t reject her advances and even pulled her closer as he slept. It was strange when it started but Chloe felt completely at ease in Lex arms once sleep took her over.
The next morning on the drive back to Smallville, to prepare to go back to Colorado, Chloe thought about what Sam said about her being a natural at all this supernatural business. She did use her ability again but she still had no control over it.
She couldn’t go back to the way her life was knowing what she could do now. If she was a natural then she would have to learn how to really use her gifts. When her mother was back and settled Chloe would make a decision that would change her life forever.
Great update!
So is Jun's spirit truly gone? Man, I hope so;) What happened to her was tragic but she was ruining other people's lives--namely Chloe's mom.
I can't wait for Chloe to reunite with her mom, and hopefully her dad will be okay with Chloe's new powers too.
The brothers rock as always, and I will be sorry to see them go. But you did mention something about a sequel?:D
This fic is so great
I love Supernatural and I like Dean and Sam a lot.
It was amazing seeing them helping Chloe in all this thing. Well, I'm a little scared right now since it's 4:16am, I'm awake alone (my husband is sleeping like a rock) and just as it happens when I watch Supernatural I become suspicious of any noise...
LOL
I'll be waiting for the next chapter and I'll love a sequel
Very cool story, even if I've never watched Supernatural and have no clue about anything that happens on the show.
Chapter 11 Into the Light
When Chloe woke up in Everett two days ago she was ready to see her mother. Two days ago she had a brief talk with Dr. Burdick and it only made her want to see Moira more. Dr Burdick was so happy with her mother’s turn around and allowed her to talk with her on the phone. Moira was so lively Chloe didn’t know how she pushed back years of haunting but it was like nothing had happened to her.
Leaving Everett was a joy to do. If she never had to see the place again or think about Jun Tyler it would be a god send. But Chloe knew better since Jun was the start to a long line of ghosts she would be seeing.
At the moment, walking down the hall of the Twin Pines facility with her father holding her hand, Chloe could only think about her mother. Dr Burdick told them Moira was a new woman. The night they destroyed the shrine she woke up. He would have never let them speak on the phone unless he thought she had made a complete turn around. After two days of testing the doctor couldn’t find anything wrong with her.
Not only did Moira recover but her previous doctor, Dr. Bruins, also made a surprising recovery. They both remembered the haunting but it was over now. Dr. Bruins was still a bit shaken but Moira handled it as if the past thirteen years were a blur.
“What if she doesn’t want to see me?” Gabe spoke standing in front of door 285 and just behind it was his wife. Chloe didn’t know if her father had been waiting for this moment as long as she had or if settle in that Moira was gone forever but she was just as afraid as he was to see what was waiting behind the door.
Chloe turned to look at him and saw his fears in line of sweat on his brow. “She wants to see you. She wants to see us both.” She squeezed his hand before letting it going giving him some reassure that this was okay. That their family was going to be put back together.
Turning back Chloe had her crew following behind her and her father. Sam and Dean were waiting long with Lex close by. “I’ll go in first then call you in.”
“Sure thing.” Dean spoke.
“We’ll be right here.” Lex said as well letting his hand brush down her arm. The entire trip with Gabe to Colorado Chloe put some distance between her and Lex. She didn’t want to tell her dad just yet what was going on. She still hadn’t told Clark what was going on. Getting her mother home was her top priority.
She nodded and turned the door knob slowly. “Let’s go dad.” As Chloe moved into the room her father moved in after her.
Moira was where Chloe saw her before standing in the light of the room streaming in from the window. Before she didn’t know what to expect when she saw her or how she would feel. She knew that she was better but there was still the fear of her being the same.
As she walked in Chloe called out to her. “Mom.” She spoke softly trying not to scare her.
Moira turned to her slowly and just as before her green eyes narrowed as she focused on the name calling her. “Chloe?” She spoke softly moving closer to her.
Before she could do anything Moira was taking her into her arms. “Thank you for bringing me back into the light. I knew you could do it.” Resting into her solid frame Chloe was getting the reunion she was waiting for.
Before she could stop her self she was crying like a baby in her mother’s arms. “It’s okay, I’m back now.” Moira tried to soothe her brushing back her hair and it was feeling Chloe had kept all these years and finally had back.
“Chloe its okay.” Gabe moved in behind her and she felt his hand on her shoulder.
While her parents tried to keep her together Chloe couldn’t see their eyes met for the first time in years. “I’m sorry.” Gabe whispered to Moira .
Chloe heard him pulling back away from her mother, brushing back her tears. “Sorry for what?” Moira replied.
“I’m sorry I didn’t do as you asked.” Gabe started then stepped back away from them. “I didn’t keep her from it.”
Looking to her mother Moira shook her head at him as if what he was saying was far from the truth. “As far as I can see you did a wonderful job. Chloe looks amazing to me. There is no need to say sorry.” A few tears started to trickle down her cheek and it made Chloe start crying again with her.
She stepped aside to let her mother move towards him. In one hug her parents reconnected and the long hug was followed by a kiss. Chloe stopped crying and was in a little bit of shock. She’d never seen her parents like this or remembered it when she was little but they look so natural. In all the pictures she saw of them this moment would stand out for a long time.
“Come home.” Gabe spoke pulling away from Moira just enough to look down her.
“Yes, it’s long past since I should have come home.” Moira spoke smiling at him then turning to pull Chloe into the hug with them. They were broken but now they were whole again.
“Maybe we should go?” Lex said peaking into the room from the hall. Before he could get too far away Chloe moved away from her parents and grabbed Lex’s hand.
“No, all of you should come in now.” Chloe waved for Sam and Dean that followed in after Lex.
“I assume this is Lex Luthor.” Moira noted recalling her conversation with Chloe two day before.
“Yes mom, Lex found you.” Chloe answered.
“Thank you for bringing my family to me.” Lex couldn’t do anything to stop her and she hugged Lex.
“Your welcome.” He choked trying to hug her back but he looked rather uncomfortable as far as Chloe could see.
“Everyone’s getting hugged but us.” Dean spoke up.
“Dean don’t.” Sam nudged his arm at how rude he was during a nice moment. Chloe wished she was closer to him to nudge him herself.
“What I just want is what I have coming to me.” Dean nudged his brother making him take a step back.
“I guess Chloe isn’t the only one all grown up.” Moira stepped in front of the boys and without Chloe telling her she knew who they were. “Well Sam and Dean where is your father?”
Chloe watched the boys look at each other confused. She failed to explain that even though Sam and Dean had helped her John wasn’t involved in anyway. Trying to cover her mistake Chloe moved next to her mother. “Mom, John is…”
Before she could go on Dean was interrupting. “He’s out on a job so he sent us.”
Chloe watched her mother look at Dean and her eyes fixed on him looking for the truth. “He’ll come back in his own time. John always comes around.” Moira replied. It was unnerving that it seemed she saw right through what Dean was saying.
They stood in silence for a few moments before Moira broke the awkward moment. “So you want your hug? The last time I hugged you Dean I believe you were still wetting the bed.” There was slight chuckle from both Chloe and Sam then there was the faint sound of Lex doing the same.
“That’s a lie.” Dean contested.
Chloe watched her mother and she was starting to see where some of her wit came from. “I may have been locked away but I remember everything and you my dear wet the bed.” She looked to Sam before going on. “You and Chloe use to be thick as thieves.”
Sam smiled as he heard the same thing Gabe said. “So I hear.” He replied. Moira moved close to him giving Sam a quick hug then giving one to Dean who still seemed upset about the bed wetting.
“If you all don’t mind I’d like to continue this reunion at home.” Moira moved back to Chloe taking her face into her hands.
Chloe shook her head once in agreement. Dr. Burdick wanted to do more testing but he had no reason to hold her. He had to understand why she recovered but her illness never had anything to do with what he could cure. She checked herself in and she was checking herself out.
After some finalizing of paper work Chloe left with her mother, Chloe walked out of the hospital with her family reconnected. Her extended family was following close behind her into the light of day with her mother free after thirteen years of being in the shadow.
~~~~)~~~~(~~~~

Moira was home a few days before Chloe let herself have the talk with her about her powers. Early that morning she went over what it meant to be a seer and she told her more than the boys knew. Chloe also told her about the telekinesis, Moira had no idea the ability would manifest itself in Chloe. Chloe told her mother what she thought her next step would be.

After some debate it was agreed that what Chloe wanted to do was the right. She needed to understand her power and Moira wasn’t going to be the one to teach her. As much as it pained Chloe she would have to leave her newly formed family for a while.

That night Lex had insisted on giving Moira a welcome home dinner and a farewell to Sam and Dean. It was a great idea and Chloe was looking forward to spending some time with Lex since she hadn’t seen him much since they returned from Colorado.

There was no way she could pay him back for everything he had given her since finding her mother but Lex claimed all he need was her to be happy. Once he found out what she was planning to do his happiest would be in jeopardy.

When Chloe’s parents agreed she should take the next step Chloe had to speak with Sam and Dean about their involvement. Arriving at the manor before her parents Chloe made a stop in the dinning room first. Lex had over done it but there was nothing she could do to stop him.

Her next stop was to the boys, she already called letting them know she was coming to speak to them. It only took a few seconds for Sam to come to the door after Chloe knocked. “Hey, come in.” Sam spoke stepping aside to let Chloe into the room.

It didn’t take much for Chloe to get them to agree to stay in Smallville a few more days. Dean was happy to take some R and R in Lex’s manor. Dean’s excitement had to be attached to the pool table, the swimming pool and scotch collection Lex had. At the moment getting them to stay was nothing compared to what she was about to ask.

As she stepped into the room she noticed Sam’s bag was out on the bed. “So you’re packing?”

Sam closed the door behind her and moved into the room. “Yeah, I think Dean wants to leave first thing in the morning.”

“He loves being on the road doesn’t he?” Chloe watched him move back to his bag to push down its contents.

“I do love being on the road. It’s better than being up in your boyfriend’s jet.” Chloe turned to the voice coming from the doorway, Dean was letting himself in.

Chloe asked him to meet in Sam’s room to have the talk. For now she would let him taunt her. She needed something from them and didn’t want to get on his bad side.

Her eyes cocked to the side, it was best come back she could do at the moment. “Thanks for coming.”

“What’s going on?” Sam spoke looking at her rather confused.

“Can we sit?” Chloe motioned to chairs in the sitting area of the oversized room.

“Is something wrong?” Dean questioned as he took a seat on the sofa.

“Did you see a ghost?” Sam questioned her taking the seat next to his brother. If she didn’t know better it seemed like they were itching for another hunt.

Chloe took a seat in the arm chair across from them. “No nothing’s wrong and I haven’t seen another ghost….yet.”

“Then what is this about?” Dean leaned back in his chair and they were both staring at her waiting for the answer.

“I had a long talk with my mother.” Chloe started then her thoughts went back to her mom earlier that day. Moira tried to warn Chloe that her gifts would get stronger but she would never be able to control them without help. “She told me I can control my seer’s visions.”

“That’s true but a strong spirit will be able to reach you no matter what.” Sam said something her mother already told her.

Chloe felt her belly clench thinking she would be rejected the moment she asked them. “I know but I can control them if I practice, the same would go for the telekinesis.” Just thinking about her second ability scared her.

When she woke up with Lex the morning before seeing her mom everything in the room was floating. She was so at ease in his arms then become aroused when she woke to see the way he was look at her. Her emotions keep interfering with her power.

Dean leaned forward, listened to what she said then, got right to the point. “You think we can help you?”

“Yes, I think if I leave with you I can learn how to master my abilities.” Chloe watched and waited as they thought it over. Sam was the first to voice his objections.

“I don’t think its good idea. We go after things that are far worse than ghosts Chloe.”

“I know.” Chloe started remembering what Moira told her; about what John really did. “My mom told me your father is a hunter and he was training you to be hunters as well.”

“If she told you that then you know that the things we hunt can kill you not just haunt you.” Dean spoke up and he was objecting as well. “You come with us and you’re putting your life at risk.”

She knew the risk in doing this but Chloe didn’t know the risk of doing nothing. “You would be amazed by the things I have faced here in Smallville. My life has been in danger many a time.” Her mind went over the long list of meteor freaks out to kill her. “I think I can handle demons and spirits.”

Dean chuckled at her words before he spoke. “I don’t know anything about that but I don’t think you’re hearing me. You come with us and you could die. I doubt your mother or father wants that for you.”

“Actually my mother thinks I should go with you.” Chloe wished her mother was there to back her up now.

“It doesn’t matter, the answer is no.” Sam said looking to Dean for agreement.

“Sammy’s right, the answer is no.” Dean agreed.

Chloe was rejected but this couldn’t be the end of it, they just didn’t understand. “I can’t ask my mother to help me with this. She has been lost for so long and now that she is finally back I think she deserves to have a life, to connect with my father. I’m afraid of what will happen if I don’t control these gifts. I can’t go back to my life knowing what I can do. I trust you both and you are the only ones that can truly help me.”

Chloe felt her eyes welling up and she didn’t want to cry but there was no stopping it. “Please, help me control it.”

As the tears started to fall the room started to change. Anything that wasn’t stable to the ground was shaking. Her ability was reacting to her emotions again. It was plain to see that she needed help. She had to close her eyes to make it stop, this time she was able to but her fear was the next time she couldn’t stop it.

Dean got up from her seat and moved to kneel in front of her. He covered her hand resting on her lap. “Your right, we should help you.”

“Dean?” Sam said sternly standing to his feet. “We can’t take her. We have other things to find.”

Dean turned to look at his brother taking to his feet as well. “You want to leave here like this. She needs our help and that’s what we do Sammy. Besides Chloe might be able to help us, watch our backs. There is no reason we can’t teach her a few things.”

“There is one reason Dean, she could die.” When Sam responded they both stood staring at each other. It was like watching Lex and Clark and Chloe had to stop them.

She moved to step in between them. “I’m sorry; I didn’t mean to cause a fight between the two of you.”

Sam looked away from his brother to look down at her. “It’s not your fault. I just don’t want you hurt.”

“I know but I have to take the risk. If I see another ghost I won’t know what to do. If I get angry I could start shattering things. I just need some time; I won’t be out with you forever.” Chloe plead with them hoping they would see.

“You can come with us.” Dean repeated looking to Sam.

“If something happens to you then we are sending you back.” Sam said.

Chloe wiped back her tears and nodded once. “Of course; if I can’t handle it I’ll say something.”

Dean smiled slightly looked over to her. “Just remember you can’t drive my car, ever.”

Chloe smiled back at him. “Yeah, we’ll see about that.” Before he could quip back she hugged him then did the same to Sam. “Thank you for doing this.”

“Don’t think a hug well make me forget about you not driving my car.” Dean said taking his hug then stepping back.

For a few moments she argued with him. Lex was waiting for her in the study and it was time to tell him her plans.

~~~~)~~~~(~~~~
If she could she wouldn’t say a word and just look at him a few more minutes but they would be joined soon enough by her parents along with Sam and Dean for dinner.
Lex seemed to be deep in thought sitting in the study with his hand wrapped around a before dinner cocktail. Chloe was hiding behind the door just cracked open enough to get a look into the room. She assumed Lex hadn’t heard her but when he spoke she wasn’t as hidden as she thought.
“Are you going to stare at me all night or come in here and sit with me?” He didn’t turn to the doorway or motion to move from the comfortable position she was in.
Taking the hint, Chloe grinned as she walked into the room closing the door behind her. “I saw the dinning room and you over did it.” Chloe came into the room just behind him letting her arms fall down his chest.
As she did the playful motion he titled his head back to look at her and she wasn’t the only one grinning. “I think your mother deserves a feast after everything she went though. It’s the least I can do to help you welcome her home.”
“Thank you, I’m sure she would have liked a quite evening at home but it’s not everyday one can get treated like a Luthor.” Chloe let the sappy moment wash over her and it lead her closer as Lex guided her with his free hand towards her lips.
Before they met she heard him whisper. “You can be treated like one everyone day if you like.” Once he was finished Lex closed the gap between them and Chloe starting to crave his kisses more. As he pulled back, Chloe released her grip on him starting to get a little hot and bothered.
“Sit with me.” Lex suggested. Doing as he asked Chloe got herself together adjusting her summer dress to get her bearings for what she was about to do. She lost control with the boys and her power went off. She couldn’t do the same with Lex.
It was settled that she would be leaving with the boys, now it was time to see what she was starting with Lex would change because of it. Something was starting that hadn’t been defined but she didn’t want to lose it.
Once she was seated next to him Lex reached to place his glass on the coffee table then moved to take her body closer to his before she could protest. His lips were moist from the first kiss and more urgent as well. Chloe would love to spend the next few moments before everyone arrived kissing him but they had to talk.
Her hands planted on his chest and she tried to nudge him back. The motions was noted and Lex pulled back some to look at her. “I’m being pushy?” He asked placing a soft kiss on cheek making it hard for her to pull away.
“No.” Chloe started and move back away from him completely. “I just want to talk first.” Her mouth was still tingling from the kiss and faint taste of the alcohol he was drinking was covering her tongue.
“Right, we do need to talk.” Lex sat back in his chair and seemed upset about being turned away when his brow furrowed. “I suppose we need to decide where we stand with one another.”
“Your right we do.” She watched him gazing at the empty fireplace before them and he seemed to be plotting a plan.
Lex sighed once before turning back to look at her. “Are you seeing someone I don’t know about?”
The question made her almost laugh out loud but she suppressed it into a chuckle. The thought of seeing some else was so far from the truth. When she finally realized Clark wasn’t the one for her Chloe had one short lived relationship that met its end a long time ago. Her summer away she let herself day dream of what it would be like with Lex but all those feelings were pushed away once he ignored her upon her return to Smallville.
The past year Chloe tried to focus on getting out of Smallville and back to Metropolis. The boys at Smallville High didn’t get her and the person that she wanted didn’t want her so she resolved herself to being alone until new prospects came into to play.
She could tell Lex all this but she assumed he wanted the cut and dry truth. “No, I’m not seeing anyone. Are you?” She turned the question on him getting a little lost in his blue grey eyes.
“No and I would be completely content if I was just seeing you.” Lex let his hand move to pull through the stands of her hair. “If I was seeing a lot more of you since I missed out so much this year.”
Chloe couldn’t help but smile at him and the desire to finish what they started a few days ago in the old hotel was starting to rise. She covered his hand with hers now resting on her face. “Good. Because I want to see more of you too.”
“Then it’s settled. We can start the next phase of our relationship.” Lex was about to kiss her again but Chloe knew they weren’t done.
She backed away from taking his hand from her. Looking ahead she couldn’t bare to look at him with what she had to say next. “There’s more I need to say.”
She couldn’t see the concerned looked growing on his face but the next question was one she wasn’t expecting. “This isn’t about Dean is it?”
If anything Chloe was indebted to Dean for what he did to save her mother. She couldn’t deny she was attached to him or that they sparked but she was finally getting time with Lex and Dean wasn’t going to get in the way of that.
“Lex this isn’t about Dean. You don’t have to worry about him.” She tried to reassure him turning back to look at him and he looked rather stiff. She placed her hand on top of his hoping he would soften some.
“Then what more do you need to say?” His voice was so controlled and Chloe didn’t want him to retreat on her again but she had to do this.
Taking in a deep breath Chloe didn’t know if she could do this, she didn’t know why it was so hard but if she left Lex he may not wait for her to come back. “You know I have these abilities now.”
“Are you worried about me being afraid of your abilities?” Lex covered her hand on his. “I’m not afraid of them.”
“You’re not afraid but I am.” Chloe couldn’t keep close to him any longer and pulled back to stand. She walked away to take a few steps toward the fireplace trying to put some distance between them to make this easier.
“Do you want to tell me why?” She heard him just behind her.
She turned and he was very close to her. “I could hurt someone. I can’t control how I move things and my mother said I can control my seer’s visions but I have to train myself. I’ll never be able to stop the stronger spirits from contacting me but I can control it if I learn how.”
“Okay I’ll do what I can to help you work through it.” Lex smirked thinking he had all the answers. This time he didn’t; no mater how many resources he had at his disposal.
“Thank you for that but I think the best way for me to do this is to leave for a while.” Chloe looked at him closely and she could see him processing what she was saying.
“What do you mean leave?” Lex started then seemed a little taken back once the words that left his lips.
“Sam and Dean agreed to let me ride with them for awhile. So I’m leaving with them tomorrow.” Chloe stood there while Lex turned away from her.
“This is about Dean.” He spoke with his back to her.
Chloe wasn’t going to let him retreat on her like he’d done some many times the past few weeks. She grabbed his arm and turned him to look her. Once his eyes were on hers Chloe lunged at him almost making them both fall over but her lips met their goal. She was making a point with this kiss and if he didn’t realize how much she wanted him then maybe Lex was truly a lost cause.
Slipping her tongue from his mouth she pulled back from him to see if she was getting the desired affect. His eyes were still closed and his hands were still fisted in her hair as Chloe started to speak. “If you haven’t noticed I love you and me leaving has nothing to do with another man.”
She watched him open his eyes slowly to look at her taking in her words before he spoke. “I love you too.”
“Alright now that’s settled.” Chloe stepped back from him feeling the need to do more but she had to get back on track with the conversation before throwing herself at him. “I’m telling you I’m leaving because I don’t want whatever is happening with us to stop.”
“Chloe, I just don’t see how you can leave now. Your mother just got back, you start Met U in a month and I can’t let you go when we are finally telling each the truth about how we feel.” His frustration had returned and Chloe could read it all over him.
“My mother understands that I need to do this. As for Met U it’s not going anywhere. I can start school in the spring. My father will make the arrangements for me.” Chloe moved closer to him taking his clinched fist in her hand. “You think this is the end but its not. I would assume that in this technological age we can still work something out.”
He raised an eyebrow then loosened his tense fingers to hold her hand back. “You’re saying I can see you when ever I want.”
“Yes Lex, the last time I checked you’re a billionaire. You have unlimited use of computers, cars, planes, and money. If you think I’m worth it then I think we can work something out where we can still see each other while I figure this out.”
He noted her sarcasm with a slight grin before pulling her back into his arms to hold her. “Thank you for reminding me.”
“I’m happy to help.” Chloe spoke muffled in the warmth of his body.
“And you are worth it.” He pulled back to look at her and questioned. “If you’re leaving with them tomorrow do you think you would be interested in spending the night with me?”
She seemed to read his mind before she could even ask. “I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”
Getting the yes he was looking for Lex reached down to her again taking her mouth with his and, just as the kiss was getting good, the guests were arriving.
“Chloe Sullivan?” The sound of Gabe’s voice echoed in the study at the sight before him. “I said watch over her, not take advantage of her.”
Chloe had told her father so much about what happened since she finally found her mother but this piece of information. Looking at the doorway Gabe was holding her mother’s hand and they were both dressed up for tonight dinner. Even though he looked as if he would rip Lex’s head off it was sweet to see them together.
“I thought you knew.” Moira said and Chloe’s eyes widened as her mother spoke. “You can see all over them.”
Gabe didn’t look away from Lex as he spoke. “Well I didn’t know.”
“Dad I’ll explain during dinner.” Chloe moved toward her father knowing Lex would understand why she had to distance herself from him.
“You better explain.” Gabe groaned not taking his eyes off Lex. Chloe looked at her mother and her shoulders hunched still not getting how Gabe didn’t see it. Chloe wasn’t sure how her mother saw it.
They left the comfort of the study to head to the dinning room for Moira ’s welcome and Chloe’s good bye.
~~~~)~~~~(~~~~

After talking with her father after dinner he and her mother left for home leaving her at the manor. They knew she was leaving with the boys in the morning and it wasn’t questioned why she was staying at the manor.

That night Chloe thought she and Lex would move on with what they started but they didn’t. He didn’t want to make love to her. His reasons were simple.

Lex didn’t want to rush and ruin what was happening with them. It was sweet but Chloe had other thoughts on her mind. She knew Lex did as well when she woke that morning with the evidence firmly pressed against her backside.

At the moment lying in bed with Lex was the farthest from her mind. She brought with her the things she would need to leave with the boys and at the moment Dean was loading her things into the Impala. Sam was near by leaning against the car.

Lex was clinging tightly to her hand while they watched Dean. Chloe said her good byes to her parents the night before and it was time for the next goodbye.

“They are going to look out for you right?” Lex asked her for what may have been the hundredth time.

“You spoke with them at breakfast about that and I think Sam’s exact words were we won’t let anything bad happen to her.” Chloe answered him looking up to him as he was looking straight ahead. He had a blank look about him as if he was masking his emotions.

“I just wanted to make sure.” He answered her finally looking to her.

“I think that does it.” Dean claimed closing the truck.

“Right.” Chloe answered and wasn’t really sure she wanted the moment to come. She was going to make it quick like pulling off a band aid. She pulled her hand from Lex’s to move into and embrace. She wrapped her arms around him taking in his scent. “You’ll call me?” Chloe asked him before pulling back to look at him.

“I’ll do more then just that.” He answered and it meant he would come to see her when he could. “Be careful.” He added.

“I’m always careful.” Chloe replied. His eyes slanted down at her and he wasn’t buying it.

He moved towards her taking her lips with his and drawing out the kiss, no doubt to show off to Dean. “I love you.” He whispered letting her go at last.

“I love you too.” Chloe answered then moved away from him towards the Impala. “Let’s go boys.”

“Bye, Lex.” Sam called out before moving to his side of the car.

“We’ll take good care of her.” Dean quipped before slamming his door shut.

Chloe hopped into the back and before Sam got in then they were off. She looked back to the manor watching Lex. His hands were deep in his pockets and his face was twisted as if he might scream. She started to cry a little as the car got further away from him.

The car sped off and Chloe was starting a new life out of the shadows and into the light.

The End
