Acceptable Wisdom (one-shot)
R-rated Fragile missing scene

Disclaimer: I do not own the characters or the television show Smallville. If I did I’d be very ashamed and covered in money dirtied with Lexana. For some reason I think I'd also be an impotent dirty old man.

Distribution: I have posted these stories and have control of them on this site. I don't want them to be posted anywhere else unless I'm the one posting them. Please take down my stories if you have them posted on another archive site. I understand I can't stop you from doing this but I hope by asking politely you'll respect my work and my wishes. If anyone has more comfort and convenience saving the text of a story to their own computer, I have no problem with that.

Spoilers: Up to Fragile, Season five.

A/N: I watched the episode and didn’t like it for all the reasons that most of the N-S members didn’t. Lexana is stupid. A little dialogue between Lionel and Lex appeared in my brain. Warning for sexual language and dual-Luthor hypnosis. I can’t look away from both of them in a scene. Too bad having a father and son speak to each other is so improbable.

Acceptable Wisdom

"There seem to be a lot of young women running away from you lately," Lionel reflected, tilting his glass to the lamp to light up his scotch. "It might be an indicator your charm is waning."

His father had appeared late one night, not very coincidentally the same night Lana kissed him and ran away. Lex was rarely pleased to see his father at any time in his life, and he had been enjoying the neglect while seducing Martha Kent took up Lionel’s time.

"Let’s get to the point, Dad," he said caustically, making the last word acidic. "How do I get rid of you for another few months?"

"Relax, son, I’ll be leaving as soon as I am allowed to dispense some valuable advice. Humor my attempt to be paternal and we’ll be each on his own separate lonely road once more."

Shifting in the leather armchair, Lex turned a sigh into a sneer. "Let it rip, I’m prepared to be condescended to."

His drink just at his mouth, the older Luthor frowned. His purpose was sincere. There was no gain in continuing the family line only to produce cretins where there might be genius.

"Try to look past the source of the advice and accept the wisdom behind it. I have only ever considered us business rivals. Your personal life has never needed my help to fall apart," Lionel pointed out, gesturing around the room with his drink. "At least I’m not aware of a happy marriage, unless you’ve managed it in the past day."

His son’s sullen glare into the fire bade him to keep speaking

"Miss Sullivan came to see you a few days ago, presumably regarding Miss Lang. She most likely ‘told you off’ for your advances on the grounds that her friend has only recently split up with Clark Kent. Am I correct?"

Lex stubbornly froze, but Lionel nodded as if confirmation had been given.

"I care very little for Miss Lang’s emotional state or her treatment by you; but for one certainty you seem to be ignoring. It will never work to your satisfaction," he said decisively.

A cold stare turned to him, his son’s hands closing into fists on the arms of
his chair. The buttons on his shirt strained slightly as his chest puffed up with anger.

"Thanks for the discouragement. Call the next time your feel like stopping by," he bit out.

Lionel gave a humorless chuckle and shook his regrown mane. The boy was stubborn, but he listened despite himself. He had a mania for knowing everything he could, even if he didn’t agree with what he learned. It was his job as a father to protect him from the information that would cause more harm than good.

"Miss Sullivan was right to dissuade you from your misguided desire for her friend. You must know by now it’s not real. You’re merely recreating a happiness that never existed. Your mother loved you, but she is long dead. Don’t dishonor her memory by trying to replace her."

Scoffing, the young man stood up and paced quickly to the bar. That was a rich sentiment from the man who had tried to replace his mother with thousands of women. He dropped ice cubes into a glass, put it down without pouring anything and went back to stand over his father.

"I’m tired of this perpetual game," he said, face shaded with dark hollows in his cheeks. "I’m no longer following your orders. I run the company and my life. You’ve done your duty - go back to chasing after widows."

He saw the slap coming and held his ground, tensing his neck against it and feeling the sting on his cheek. A brief look of memory and remorse crossed Lionel’s face before an arrogant expression fell on the sharp features.

"I won’t have you spreading unsavory stories about Martha Kent. She is an upstanding, ethical woman who will do a lot of good as a senator."

"Done. A reputation of sour grapes toward a senatorial widow won’t help my next campaign," he agreed flatly. Striding over to the bar again, he shrugged dismissively.

"This was not why I came . . . Son, you are wasting too much time and energy wooing Lana Lang. She will never love you and if you’re trying to use her as leverage, her connection to Clark Kent has broken down. Chloe is more aware of whatever dark secret you think is so vital to uncover."

A hefty drink in hand, the bald billionaire returned and sat on the arm of the chair he had used, looking impatient.

"Chloe is less likely than Clark to tell me," he asserted. "She won’t break under pressure and if your spies haven’t reported it already, she and I aren’t in caring and sharing mode presently."

"Because you squandered the bond she felt for you. I made the same mistake. Mr. Kent seems to have learned his lesson, however. She’s a surprisingly powerful force."

There was a pleased tilt to his father’s lips when he talked about her. The compliment seemed genuine. Chloe had been trusted with more secrets of his sire than a lot of LuthorCorp executives. She had used the hints to dig for more and been successful in a way that precluded luck.

"As I recall, you tried to kill her," Lex said. "Silly of her to take offense."

Lionel took a drink and held it in his mouth, swallowing leisurely, nodding as if the statement hadn’t been ironic.

"It was a recognition of her abilities, and a difficult decision. I enjoyed her more than she knew. For a long time I couldn’t decide between fucking her and eating her."

A flinching jaw muscle betrayed Lex’s revulsion to the idea. His father’s stupid law of the jungle metaphor didn’t make it funny or absurd. He drank to distract himself.

"I imagine you grappled with the same choice. Those months as her protector must have been bliss and torment combined."

Even less of a reaction from his son, so Lionel talked almost to himself, voice lowering to a purr.

"She’s very appealing to men like us. For that year I slept with blonds almost exclusively to relieve the . . . tension. I love a woman who can give as good as she gets. Unfortunately, I had to deny myself."

Darting a sly glance to Lex, the man noted a stiffness in his frame. The topic made him much angrier than anything about Lana Lang. The blond reporter was simply more invigorating.

"I think Chloe tastes like a fine scotch," he said idly. "Shadowed and peaty. Fleshy with strains of sweetness, and a depth that makes you feel you could hold it on your tongue for hours and find new facets."

The glass in his son’s hand trembled as his grip increased. A few more provocations and the attentions he was trying to focus on Lana Lang would be unalterably tied to the residual fascination for Chloe Sullivan. Making the simple gesture obscene, he finished his drink and rolled it in his mouth before swallowing.

"Of course, if you’re intent on the barely legal, I’m sure Miss Lang tastes sweet - like those hard candies playing an ubiquitous role on every secretary’s desk. A lump of pure sugar with colors to fool you into believing there’s a flavor underneath. Pure sweetness isn’t the worst thing in a woman," he concluded, his tone diplomatic.

Lex stood up and faced the fireplace, filled with outrage. The taunts and jabs hit harder some days, and he had a very hard day already.

"This has absolutely made up for the birds and bees talk we never had," he mocked tightly. "Thank you for your many repugnant insights."

Lionel stood easily, smirking and relaxed. He had laid the groundwork to prevent an insipid girl from ruining his son. Ridiculous to think Lex Luthor’s downfall could be an unremarkable foundling searching for a replacement daddy. Even more absurd that she was simultaneously being painted as the substitute for Lillian. The loss of the election, company projects of little commercial value and an air of unreliability were all to blame on this preoccupation with Lana Lang.

"I felt obligated to prevent your looming failure. I don’t know Miss Lang personally, but I know Chloe quite well. If she ever kisses you she’ll not be running away. You might put some thought into the woman you’re so fixated on," he said, nearing the door. "Goodnight Lex."

The click of the latch behind him sent Lex’s mind back to the moment before Chloe left. He had snarled some pathetic insult about her romantic status and she had to think for a moment before her return volley.

"I don’t need one with you and your father screwing me so consistently."

There had been no pain in the green gaze that turned contemptuously away. She didn’t mind the insult. Clark had allowed her an equal place in something they all knew was infinitely larger than a romance. It meant more than any plans Lex could have made for Lana.

Stark, ugly bitterness made him put down his drink. It was disconcerting to hear his own thoughts about Chloe voiced by his father. It was all true. Lana couldn’t compete with the blond. His seduction would have fallen apart long ago if not for a simple fact of life. Young women who lived together tended to share clothing and make up. They used the same laundry detergent to save money, and recommended products that worked well. Standing in Chloe and Lana’s shared dorm room it was impossible to distinguish between the scents of the two occupants.

But Lex had been close to both of them and he could tell the fates had smiled on him in one small way. When Lana had lurched clumsily at his mouth she had been wearing the same perfume Chloe wore the previous day. The scent from the ruby glass bottle he had given her in the safe house, bought in Paris while he was thinking of her locked away from the sun. He hadn’t needed to pretend once his eyes snapped shut. If she smelled so like Chloe she must be Chloe.

And the taste in his mouth during the kiss might have been pure sweetness, but he had tasted the substantial harmonies of scotch.

This last line is just awesome. Loved this and thought the back and forth between Lex and Lionel was wonderfully done. Great job.

Nice. I can see this on the show. I love Lionel and Lex moments like this. Fav parts.

Hey Lionel that was really dirty. Nice.

I like this idea of Chloe and Lex when she was in the safe house. They got it on. Come she wouldn't have to come see me if she didn't and then again Lex wouldn't have insulted her if she hadn't dumped him. Lex had to be thinking of something other then Lana giving him dead fish kiss.

Great job but are you going to continue?

That was really good, complex, well written, and it flowed beautifully. It was simple and succinct, no unnessassary words, everything added to the plot (however short).

Excellent scene, even though it gave me far too many details about what happened in one of the dreaded Season 5 episodes. I loved the interaction between Lex and Lionel, and this was my favorite bit:

"Of course, if you’re intent on the barely legal, I’m sure Miss Lang tastes sweet - like those hard candies playing an ubiquitous role on every secretary’s desk. A lump of pure sugar with colors to fool you into believing there’s a flavor underneath. Pure sweetness isn’t the worst thing in a woman," he concluded, his tone diplomatic.

This was wonderful Lionel-voice, from the clever simile, to the elitism, to the precise observation about human nature.

I was totally not expecting the turn at the end, and it put a pure Chlexy spin on the entire conversation.

Thanks for posting.

Sorry about the overload of info. I know you're off the televised crap and I salute you for it. I refuse to quit when I have so many graveyard fics to dig up. We might not win on the show, but I'm not putting up with the disgusting mess of dropped plots and convoluted non-motives in silence. I can apparently write Lionel convincingly and while I can I'll be having him tooth and luxurious hair against the dreaded ship.

And letia, this was only a one chapter story. I can't keep Lionel gabbing all night - he has to be up with the sun in preparation for his life as a gentleman farmer.

Right who said anything about Lionel? I think Chloe could impart some wisdom on Lex or Lana or whoever or get some from Lionel as well. I love it when Lionel goes and mind fucks with people. Either way it was still a good scene.

Oh, but I love the dirty old fox. He's so . . . dirty. And kind of foxy. Sometimes I think his sexy little grin is better than Lex's. (Please don't kick me out of N-S, Julie!)

Seriously, I can't write multi-chapter post-eps anymore. The continuity errors pile up even between one episode and the next. It's too frustrating.

Why can't the writers on the show strap on a pair and give us something like this!

That was such an interesting story, just makes you wish that scene was in that episode. Put some sense into something that was full of crap, but thats not what smallville's all about though :wth:

I enjoyed the story, you have to love Lionel's talks. Pictured him clearly, with a smirk on his face and a glass in his hand :)

Don't you just love Lionel in this fic!??!!!! He's so cool!! I'm totally in admiration in front of him. I mean Lionel has a way to make me like him yet totally hate him, but in this fic I adore him!!!!! OH yeah what he said about Chloe!!! Not only is it true and helps Lex to wake up, but it so delightfully dirty (I know Lionel was an old pervert with his eyes on Chloe!!!! Don't necessarly like the idea normally, but in this fic I did!!!) That was so good. Congratulation on a great job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way, you have the greatest, funniest disclaimer I have EVER read: If I did I’d be very ashamed and covered in money dirtied with Lexana. For some reason I think I'd also be an impotent dirty old man. That was totally awesome! Especially the last line...I wouldn't have thought of that but now that you mention it...it kind of rings true doesn't it? Explains soooooo much about Smallville

That was AMAZING. I enjoy a Chlex scene as much as the next person but a Lionel and Lex one is just as good especially when Lionel is doing what he does best...insinuating so many wonderful, dirty things. Granted I'm not going to sit here and say that the idea of Lionel relieving himself with other blondes doesn't make me shudder, blah, but he realizes the value of Chloe. She is an invaluable asset and the friendship that she has with Clark is something special and one that Lex should be jealous of. Chloe doesn't distract herself with simple people...aka Lana :) That was just amazing and I love that ultimately Lex had been thinking of Chloe. That'll help me get through some more episodes :D Great job!

Man, Nonky, I wish this Lex/Lionel conversation happened on the show.

Lex needs to be told once and for all, that Lana Lang is not worth his time or effort.

And I loved how you weren't afraid to have Lionel admit his attraction for Chloe--the show would never have the guts to do that.

Excellent work:D

Awesome. I heart Lionel. If only the morons at Shitville would write him this well.

"Chloe is less likely than Clark to tell me," he asserted. "She won’t break under pressure and if your spies haven’t reported it already, she and I aren’t in caring and sharing mode presently."
*whimper* Damn truth hurts, that’s for sure…

"It was a recognition of her abilities, and a difficult decision. I enjoyed her more than she knew. For a long time I couldn’t decide between fucking her and eating her."
I found this to be strangely erotic. I say, do both. With relish.

"I don’t need one with you and your father screwing me so consistently."
*squeal of utter delight* Oh the money I’d pay for her to have said that on the show!

*purrs* Awesome. Wishful thinking is a very powerful force, and it’s really not overly difficult to trick your mind into believing what you want to believe. Poor Lex. If he’s going to continue to play with Lana, he might want to drink more.

Excellent scene, nonky. I have an almost unhealthy infatuation for Lionel, so I absolutely loved the role he played in this. I really think you should write a smutty one-shot where Lionel and Chloe use each other to get under Lex’s skin. I think the Chloinel interaction would be positively delicious, and in the process I’d get a good dose of caveman Lex. I think I would officially be in lurve if you pulled it off. And I, of course, have faith. You. Can. Do. It. Heh. *dance*

Yes, and you'd have to write (and I use that word in its loosest possible sense) with crayons and your own faeces like Mr DeKnight.

Lex was rarely pleased to see his father at any time in his life, and he had been enjoying the neglect while seducing Martha Kent took up Lionel’s time.

Wheee! I heart Lionel/Martha.

There was no gain in continuing the family line only to produce cretins where there might be genius.

Hee. Lana can seriously damage your children's health.

"I won’t have you spreading unsavory stories about Martha Kent. She is an upstanding, ethical woman who will do a lot of good as a senator."

"And she's going to be your stepmother."

"Because you squandered the bond she felt for you. I made the same mistake. Mr. Kent seems to have learned his lesson, however. She’s a surprisingly powerful force."

How galling must it be when Clark does something smart and you... don't? Especially when you're a brooding, megalomaniac genius and he's a farmboy.

"It was a recognition of her abilities, and a difficult decision. I enjoyed her more than she knew. For a long time I couldn’t decide between fucking her and eating her."

Oh, dear God. Over-share! Over-share!

"I imagine you grappled with the same choice. Those months as her protector must have been bliss and torment combined."

Yes. And we're back to Witness Protection. Which is one of my all-time favourite fics.

"She’s very appealing to men like us. For that year I slept with blonds almost exclusively to relieve the . . . tension. I love a woman who can give as good as she gets. Unfortunately, I had to deny myself."

Dude *Snorts with laughter and then shudders* You are so wrong. But I love you anyway.

No, emotional flaccidity, constant self-pity and the world-view of a navel-gazing contortionist are the worst things in a woman. Lana? Hee. Pure sugar with colors. You rock.

"This has absolutely made up for the birds and bees talk we never had," he mocked tightly. "Thank you for your many repugnant insights."

He should be thanking God that Lionel never gave him the talk. Can you imagine the trauma of Lionel Luthor telling you about sex when you're still young? Jesus.

Clark had allowed her an equal place in something they all knew was infinitely larger than a romance. It meant more than any plans Lex could have made for Lana. Stark, ugly bitterness made him put down his drink.

You spaced it differently but I read it like this. Lex is completely jealous that Clark has Chloe wholly on his side and he's stuck with the easily manipulated Lana. As he should be. Dumbass.

There are no words, Nonky. You know how I love your fics. Every one of them is a tiny, intricate, glinting masterpiece of Chlex. *Glomps you regardless of personal space or that restraining order* LOVE!

Its fics like these that keep me sane while watching the show. I just have to believe there is something deeper between Lex and Chloe. I yell these things at the tv and my roommates just stare at me and say that I should accept what I see for truth and stop living in denial. But I come here and have all of you wonderful people writing amazing fics with great insight and I'm able to keep the dream alive. Who cares if I live in denial, it's a hell of lot better than the dimension where SV is. Thanks for the great story.

I adored this fic. At this point I suppose I 'might' have become notorious for my near-fanatical devotion towards (well-written) Lionel dialogue and action. This fic fit perfectly in with my view of Luthor Senior. Callous, manipulative, ruthless and just plain nasty (in every sense of the word).

For a long time I couldn’t decide between fucking her and eating her

That is one nasty bit of imagery, but rather compelling and facinating at the same time. I need professional help :P

I loved the comparisions he made between Lana and Chloe. Comparing Lana to those colourful, eye-catching sweeties that adults have learned never to touch... was just such an amazingly apt description. Clearly the implication was that Lana was the kind of girl that young teenage boys went for, while Chloe was the kind of woman that men developed a taste for during their older and wiser years (just like scotch) :P

In his own eloquent way, Lionel was simply telling Lex to 'Grow up and act your age!' :D

There was no gain in continuing the family line only to produce cretins where there might be genius.

It was excellent to see someone understand and appreciate the value of Chloe Sullivan.

"There seem to be a lot of young women running away from you lately," Lionel reflected, tilting his glass to the lamp to light up his scotch. "It might be an indicator your charm is waning."

Shifting in the leather armchair, Lex turned a sigh into a sneer. "Let it rip, I’m prepared to be condescended to."

Your personal life has never needed my help to fall apart," Lionel pointed out, gesturing around the room with his drink. "At least I’m not aware of a happy marriage, unless you’ve managed it in the past day."

I just loved the rapid fire cutting dialogue exchange between Lex and Lionel. The two of them don't even seem to think twice about letting loose some casually cruel remarks to one another. I get the feeling it would make them both extrememly uncomfortable to actually have a civil conversation ;)

But underneath the cruelty, there seemed to be genuine concern for Lex and his taste in partners. Lionel kept making allusions to the relationship problems that Lex has been suffering through, and he brought up Chloe as a possible solution to Lex's ridiculous problems in finding love. So disregarding all the nasty, callous, snide comments, this was a really 'sweet' Luthor father-son bonding session. As sweet as a discussion can get considering that they were both discussing a common carnal attraction towards a college student :P

I'm looking forward to the Chluthor fic you were referring to in some earlier thread. I think you had plans to call the fic 'Acceptable'? But please, please, PLEASE update 'The Lesser of Two Evils' (or Onyx?)... or any of your fics... I'm not especially choosy at this point :P

p.s. I apologize for any lack of coherency in this review. Its 2.00am, and I'm very, verrry sleepy. gd'night all!

I just read through this ficlet again, and it was as amazing an experience on it’s (10th? 20th?) read, as it was during the first time I read through it.

I just LOVE fics that manage to bring out the full force of the animosity between Luthor father and son. If done properly, the kind of sparks between the Luthors can rival the electricity and fireworks that flow between Chloe and Lex during their most heated moments together. A VERY different kind of voltage of course, but that doesn’t make the sparkage any less powerful.

His drink just at his mouth, the older Luthor frowned. His purpose was sincere. There was no gain in continuing the family line only to produce cretins where there might be genius.

I STILL love Lionel’s way of observing the situation here. How he perceives the Lexana union as apposed to the potential of a Chlex alliance. And it makes me laugh to think about how Lionel is thinking of ‘future Luthor heirs’ as a potential business deal and he’s measuring the possibilities to weigh which one will will yield the most profitable results.

I just think it’s the PERFECT characterization of Lionel Luthor.

And the way he skilfully combines condescension, insults and actual sounds experience and wisdom when dealing with Lex… It is EXACTLY the way I would imagine Lionel Luthor handling his son.

This part made me laugh too. How Lionel is actually DEFENDING the honour of a woman he seems to admire. And Lex backs off admitting that it wouldn’t be ‘prudent to be seen’ carrying a grudge for this lovely lady.

I was glad to see that Lex was as pleased about his father’s repulsive phrase as your reader’s were. This was the first hint in the entire fic that Lex wasn’t REALLY as indifferent and hostile towards Chloe as he pretended to be.

"I imagine you grappled with the same choice. Those months as her protector must have been bliss and torment combined."

Even less of a reaction from his son, so Lionel talked almost to himself, voice lowering to a purr.

Eeek. I know Lionel is probably only trying to get a rise of out Lex, but I get the feeling he’s telling only the truth over here. I wonder how many kinds of breakdowns and heart-attacks Chloe would have had if she knew she has inspired such a change in Lionel’s sexual partners.

"She’s very appealing to men like us. For that year I slept with blonds almost exclusively to relieve the . . . tension. I love a woman who can give as good as she gets. Unfortunately, I had to deny myself."

Thank HEAVENS this version of Lionel actually managed to employ some sense of discretion and self-restraint when it came to dealing with Chloe Sullivan. He might have tried to kill her, but pursuing her another way might have inflicted more damage on the girl.

I guess we know WHAT kind of damage can occur if Lionel HAD decided to go after Chloe (check out Nonky’s ‘A Lesser of Two Evils’).

But I seem to remember Nonky was thinking of another fic where Lionel was going to launch a more… subtle means of pursuing and seducing Chloe? I think the fic was supposed to be called ‘Nudge’, and I just wanted to know how that was going? Is that still going to be written, or has Nonky abandoned that very interesting idea?

I LOVED this comparison between the two. It was very apt, and metaphors drawn up the way only Lionel Luthor can tell it. Even if you never do ‘Nudge’, please so write some more Lionel-speak in some fic or another. You’re VERY good at it, Nonky!

Lex stood up and faced the fireplace, filled with outrage. The taunts and jabs hit harder some days, and he had a very hard day already.

"This has absolutely made up for the birds and bees talk we never had," he mocked tightly. "Thank you for your many repugnant insights."

LOL! Lionel won the round for tonight. Of course Lex wasn’t anywhere near ready to concede defeat, but the fact that he cut the conversation short so abruptly shows who is the clear winner in this Luthor altercation.

LOL Lionel’s VERY correct observation that all of Lex’s current failures are probably due to Lex’s ridiculous obsession with Lana. ‘replacement daddy’??!! Oh MY GOD!!! ROFLOL!

And the taste in his mouth during the kiss might have been pure sweetness, but he had tasted the substantial harmonies of scotch.

This ending was VERY interesting. It was the perfect way to show how Lex secretly WANTS Chloe, but is not actively pursuing her because he’s too much of a coward to get over his intimidation by her… Brillaint plotting, Brilliant ending, and I look forward to more along the same vein (Lionel, Lex and Chloe)… pretty please?

sheeesh! This is becoming disturbing. Every time I re-read this ficlet, my obsession with the possibility of a Nonky-fic with a love-hate Luthors/Chluthor/Chlex triangle becomes deeper and more consuming. There hasn't been any mention of 'Nudge' for a long time, and I understand that Nonky has plenty of other fics to keep her occupied with diving her attention to ANOTHER one. But I'd really, REALLY thought this showed such fantastic potential, and I would have LOVED to have seen more writing along this vein.

Any chance of taking up the Luthors vs. Sullivan possibility, Nonky? I'd really like to see what kinds of turns such a fic might take.

pretty please? At YOUR convenience of course.

That was amazingly well written, i really enjoyed Lionel and Lex conversing.

Why can't the writers on the show strap on a pair and give us something like this!

:P

Hell, there is nothing to add :-) Fantastic!

I really liked that. Great Lionel/Lex conversation I could actually see it happening. And I loved the thing about the smells in the end.

Really liked this fic especially the description of Lana being hard candy and Chloe a deep scotch, you seem to have hit there characters spot on. I saw the continuation of this fic on the NC-17 forum and I hope to see Lex become even more of an Alcoholic.

I first read this fic right before I read 'The Nudge', but for some reason didn't review... Sorry!

This fic is absolutely incredible. The dialogue between Lionel and Lex was just awesome... Lionel's such a dirty old man, but also oddly sexy. (lol) I loved the comparison of Lana to hard candy and Chloe to scotch. Fabulous writting!

Great job!!

I don't think I've ever reviewed the fic that started my obsession. I really loved the conversation between Lex and Lionel. MB played kid Luthor so well and that is the best part. Lionel, never change!

This was brilliant.

I loved Lionel in it. I finished reading and only then noticed that it was a one-shot.

Then I saw the Nudge mentioned in one of the reviews.....can't wait!!!

Lionel is so deliciously subtle in this fic -- and, I think, really believes he's being an effective parent to boot.
Well, even a stuck clock is right twice a day.
