Okay, this starts as friendship but quickly goes romantic. I wasn't sure which division I should put it under but since the sequel is really romantic and I want to keep both together---to make it less confusing to find the other, I'm putting it both under romantic. Hope that's okay, guys. Enjoy. PMD.

and my page on Wendy's site for the time being. If anybody else wants it,
all they have to do is ask.

Feedback: Yes I would love feedback.

Author Notes: I dedicate this to Adeylan who got a sneak peek at the
beginning and said keep going. And to the reemergence of a love for watching
Dawson's Creek again---with the eppy of Pacey and Joey, locked in the
department store. Yeah---they're back together. : ) Something about those
two remind me of Chloe and Lex---at least in one scene from Kinetic and in
fanfic---Joey and Pacey verbal judo as well as those two. And to Jay and
Elizabeth, whom with their wonderful talents, inspired my muse to help me
write, too. I also want to thank David for checking this puppy over. And one last dedication---to Michael---who breathes life into a very tortured, very enigmatic, very enticing character. You never know what to expect from Lex and that's the beauty of the character. Enjoy, everybody.

"I Don't Want To Wait" - by PMD

"So open up your morning light
And say a little prayer for right
You know that if we are to stay alive
And see the peace in every life"

"Ahem---hello, Ms.---?"

I'm startled out of my singing by the elder Luthor, standing there,
smirking. I gain my composure quickly though. If there's one thing I've
learnt from Lex is that all Luthors don't like to see weakness and all need
a bell around their necks. However, Lex does tolerate me---better than he
does his dad. I smile at him and walk over to the man, my hand held out.

"Chloe Sullivan, sir," I state, with false admiration.

"Hmmmm---the reporter. How the hell did you get in here? And what the hell
were you singing?"

I take my untouched hand away and am about to say something, when we are
interrupted.

"I let her in, father. And what she was singing---I believe it was the theme
song to Dawson's Creek."

I watch as he walks in, confident and self-assured. I smile at him and nod.
He walks over to his father. "What are you doing here, father. Slumming?"

"Just checking on how you and your wife are doing."

"Oh, Helen. I guess you've been out of the country not to hear---it's over."

"When did this happen? I thought you were getting along great?"

"We were until I found out she was paid to keep tabs on me---by a
competitor. Oh, don't look so worried father, it wasn't you---it was
somebody else. You know how I am about people lying to me. So, I told her,
it was over---I wanted a divorce. So, why else are you here?"

"I want to talk to you."

He walks over to stand beside me, putting an arm around my shoulder. "Sorry,
but I promised my friend an exclusive for the Torch. It's going to be the
last one she puts out and she wanted to end with something spectacular."

I roll my eyes at that comment. "Yeah---it was between him and the freak of
the week who drank gasoline and then spit it into the gas tank, not spilling
a drop."

He backs away and gives me a grin. "Wow, you really do think fast on your
feet, Sullivan."

"I have to be around you Luthors. And now---for the bad news."

"What?" he asks me.

"I can't do the interview tonight."

"Why not?" he asks.

"Alexander, don't knock a gift horse in the mouth---you just dodged a
bullet."

We both glare at the smirking man. "What are you still doing here, father?"
he asks, annoyance in his voice.

"Just waiting for you to go into sugar shock, son."

"Wow, smirking in stereo," I state as I watch them look at each other. They
turn to look at me and give me one. "All right, you want to know why I can't
be here---I've got to make dinner for my father."

"Chloe---I just said I don't tolerate lying."

"But I'm not---" The look on his face has me stopping. I just can't lie to
the man---why is that?

"Chloe, are you all right?"

"Son, never ask a reporter that question. It shows that you see them as a
person and somebody to care about."

"Father---shut up!" He turns back to me. "Chloe, what's wrong?"

"I don't want to miss---" I mumble the rest of it.

He turns to face me and places a finger under my chin. "What was that you
said?"

"I said, I don't want to miss Dawson's Creek!"

"She doesn't want to miss a mediocre TV show---what kind of reporter are
you?"

We turn to glare at Lionel. "Father!" he says, warningly. Lionel turns
silent.

He turns back to me again. "Chloe, we can do it after the show, if you
want?"

"Really?" I ask.

"Would I lie to you?"

I stand there, thinking.

"Chloe, this isn't brain surgery."

I give him a slight smile. "No, you wouldn't lie to me, Lex."

"My how the mighty have fallen. I can't believe I lived to see the day when
a son of mine bowed to the whim of a mere girl."

I feel anger rearing it's ugly head. "Excuse me?" I ask.

Lex backs away from my tone and keeps a safe distance. "You heard me, young
lady."

"Oh, you self-centered SOB! He's not bowing to me or anybody---least of all
you. He's just negotiating a time to do it. And he's giving me something now
so I can give him something later on."

"And what might that be?" Lionel asks me, smirking.

"Oh get your mind out of the gutter, Lionel!" I state, as I turn around to
stare at Lex---whose fighting a losing battle to not laugh---I can see the
laughter in his eyes, travelling outwards.

"What are you laughing about, son?"

"Oh how the mighty have fallen---I didn't think I would live to see the day
when my father was bested by a reporter."

Then he starts to laugh, earnestly. It's contagious---I find myself joining
him. Every so often we stop and look at his father, standing there, stunned.
Then it would start again.

I walk over to him and place my arms around his waist, hugging him and
whispering, "It's almost 8."

"Oh," he states, as I back away. "Father---I'll have to ask you to leave."

"What---I will not leave!"

Lex walks over to the desk and picks up the phone. "Security---I need you to
come in and help my father find his car---and while you're at it---maybe his
sense of humor too---if he ever had one."

I giggle at that one, as he hangs up the phone. Security is there in a
matter of seconds and they show Mr. Luthor to the door. As the study door
closes, we find ourselves laughing again.

"I'm---we've got to stop laughing or we'll never get to see Dawson's Creek."

"You want me to watch it with you?" he asks, stunned.

"Sure---I want to share my guilty passion with somebody and you're it, Lex."

He walks from behind the desk and towards me. "Why?"

"Because you're my friend."

"Slightly the truth---try once more."

"Okay, two reasons---because I want to show you how a couple can work things out between each other and oh hell, I just want to spend some quality time with you."

"I do too---so shall we go into the TV room and watch?"

He takes my hand and we walk towards the room. "Chloe, what couple actually
works on Dawson's Creek, for you?"

"Joey and Pacey---I like to think of them as a templete we might follow one
day. Friends---and then something more."

He stops in his tracks and looks at me---staring into my soul---it's so
intense, I have to look down. God I so wish our relationship leads to
something more.

I feel his hand under my chin and I look up. "I hope our relationship leads to something more too," he says, before he leans down to kiss me---a whisper of a kiss that speaks volumes.

I let out a sigh as he backs away and takes my hand once more. Yes, things
are looking up for Lex and I---Helen is no longer around, Daddy Not So
Dearest has been taken down a peg, I still get my interview and now---I'm
about to show Lex that we're not the only couple who can verbal judo.

"I don't want to wait for our lives to be over
I want to know right now, what will it be
I don't want to wait for our lives to be over
Will it be yes or will it be---sorry"

The End.

Oh, that was great! so sweet. Yeah, I started watching dawson's creek again after I saw previews of where pacey and joey were stuck at the Kmart. It's funny how they became the main couple, dawson gets so little screen time now...I wished that happend on smallville! Stupid Clark!

Ok, sorry for my ramblings! Post the sequel soon please!

Heehee---well, I hate to say this but---there's actually no cuddling by the tv set---or should I say the major, big, huge, stereophonic, television system, of Lex's. The sequel, which is about to be posted, takes place just after watching it. Look for a surprise appearance by---well, it's a surprise. And Kleenex warnings for this one---there is one scene that will have you tearing it. Thanks for the great feedback on this piece and next one coming up, guys. PMD

I know this fic is old (okay, maybe not that old) but this is the first time I've read this. I enjoyed this one immensely :blinkkiss: . I thought I was the only one who like Dawson's Creek. Luv it when you've mentioned that show (my fave has always been Joey/Pacey)! And Chlex, what can I say  !
Now I'm going to look for the sequel :yay: . Thank you :chlexsign2: !!

Just loved it. Lex like being able to read Chloe's mind was so cute. And Lex watching Dawson's Creek with Chloe just to spend time with her is so un-Lex. Its a Lex I wish he was more like. Opening up and showing his emotions not seeing them as a weekness. Beautiful :)

Glad you enjoyed it, guys. :) Dawson's Creek is where I first found a ship that actually came in. :) And where I learned that soulmates didn't have to be romantic but friendship too. :) Joey's got two---such a lucky girl. And at least in fanfic, Chloe has one, encompassing friendship and romantic---Lex. :)

Glad you guys enjoyed this piece. I certainly had fun writing it and it's one of my favorite series, not only because of Smallville but because I am a huge---Huge---Dawson's Creek fan. Big Pacey/Joey from a way back. <g> More stories to come, if I can just entice my muse away from VM. <bg>

So, so funny!!!! Security escorting Lionel out of the building was hilarious!!!! And they really do seem like Joey and Pacey, always fighting and then kissing (well, at least those kisses we read about it in here, since the *&$#%# that write the show don't think they should do that!!!!)...
Well, anyway, keep the wonderful work and don't forget to write these beautiful stories for us!!!!

Hey Thais:

Awwww----glad you enjoyed it, sweetie. :) Yep, they remind me of Joey and Pacey. :) As to TPTB----you don't want to know how sad I am that they never tried it. I would have loved to have seen it, even if Chloe did go bad with Lex. But since they're going with the you know what, well, glad I left in season 4 and never looked back. So, what they won't do there, we Chlex writers will take up the mantle and do. :) More stories to come---I promise. Isn't fanfic just the coolest thing. :)
