Chapter Hundred and Seventeen – Going Home

The celebrations over the birth lasted until the following night. The moment Sergi had seen his grand daughter he brought out the vodka and insisted everyone drank it. Despite protests from Gabe about Chloe being too young she still managed to get herself very drunk. She discovered that vampires did get drunk, granted it took an astronomical amount of alcohol to do so, but drunk they did get. And she also discovered that vampires got *very* amorous when they were drunk. In fact she and Lex almost got caught on more than one occasion when things got very heated between them.

“I think I’m dying,” moaned Chloe as her head felt like it was going to explode. “It’s not funny,” she snapped as Lex chuckled. She sat up, gingerly holding her head. “What aren’t you suffering?”

“We don’t get hangovers,” he smirked.

“Bully for you,” she muttered.

“There is a bottle of water and two painkillers to your right,” he said, “take them and a long hot shower and you’ll start feeling better.”

“Cutting my head off will make me feel better,” mumbled Chloe.

“Painkillers and a shower,” whispered Lex as he kissed her forehead. “I’ll meet you downstairs.”

“You know Lex, in my hangover state my balance mightn’t be the greatest,” she said, as he headed towards the door, “I may fall over in the shower and hurt myself.”

A sly grin appeared on his face as he turned to face her. “That would be a terrible tragedy my love if that were to happen. I could never forgive myself if that happened.”

Grinning Chloe grabbed the two painkillers and the water and quickly downed them. “My shower now please,” she announced, holding her arms out.

Laughing Lex quickly returned to the bed and lifted her gently into his arms. Joining him in his laughter the pair made their way to the bathroom.

Dominic, Etienne and a very groggy Oliver had left the site of his rebirth and quickly hurried to a concealed airstrip and the waiting plane. Once all on board the plane took off for America.

Dominic couldn’t stop touching Oliver; he just couldn’t believe his love was back. Once settled on the plane, Oliver had been fed fresh blood and then he fell asleep.

“If I wasn’t sitting here looking at him, I would not have believed the ceremony had worked,” said Etienne, his voice filled with wonder. “And I must admit Dominic, you have excellent taste,” he allowed his eyes to roam over the sleeping vampire’s body; still clad in the robe Dominic had been wearing.

“Isn’t he divine,” replied Dominic with a slight purr, brushing Oliver’s hair back from his face.

‘Yes he is,’ thought Etienne, ‘and I wonder how *loyal* to Dominic he will be now.’

“What’s the plan now?” he asked, “Are you still going to let it be known that you have brought him back?”

“Yes, but not immediately. I want him to get his strength back, and of course I want the two of us to be reacquainted.”

“I hope you don’t mind if I stick around. I’d like to be part of this final attack on the Luthors.”

“I’d love it if you stuck around Etienne, it’s so rare to find someone with the same *tastes*, especially in torture as myself.”

“You are too kind,” smiled Etienne, “then I will be definitely staying around.” ‘And who knows maybe I can get *acquainted* with Oliver,’ he added to himself.

Oliver had heard the entire conversation; he had pretended to be asleep. As soon as he got on the plane he wanted to avoid having Dominic paw at him so he feigned tiredness. He remembered everything of his life and vampire life up to his death at the hands of the Luthors. After that all he could remember was pain and fire, and then the sensation of being pulled, and the next thing he knew Dominic was hugging him. He had been brought back, back from whatever hell he had been in. He still felt confused about everything, but one thing he was sure of, there was no way he was going to be Dominic’s little lap dog. He senses felt more alive that they had ever been, he could *feel* the emotions pouring off Dominic, and he could definitely feel the desire coming off of the other vampire. ‘Now Etienne, is someone I could use,’ he thought, as through his feigned sleep he continued to listen to everything being said.

“So you’re actually going to tell her,” said Pete, his eyes wide.

“Yep,” said Clark, “and I’m scared shitless at the thought of it.”

“Only 5ft something Chloe Sullivan, could scare over 6ft and alien Clark Kent,” grinned Pete. “You’ll be fine man, Chloe’s your friend. She’ll just be happy that you finally trust her enough to tell her the truth.”

“You’ll be there won’t you, Pete?”

“Eh no, breaking the news to her that I knew the truth is something I’ll leave for another time,” said Pete, “I’ve no intention of feeling the brunt of the Chloe tempter. I’ll let her rant an rave at you for awhile, let her blow off some steam before launching at me.”

“Coward,” muttered Clark with a grin.

“No, self-preservation,” replied Pete with a grin of his own.

Chloe stood over the small Moses basket peering in at the sleeping child. Little Mila looked like any other baby she had ever seen, but Chloe had thought she would look different, because well she was the daughter of two vampires. But no, she looked like a baby, and a rather cute one at that.

“Isn’t she precious,” cooed Lillian, appearing beside her.

“You’re sounding all broody Lillian,” teased Chloe.

“I’m just jealous Chloe,” she replied sincerely, “Natasha and Sergi have now got the one thing missing in mine and Lionel’s lives, a grandchild.”

“Don’t look at me like that Lillian,” warned Chloe although she had a smile on her face.

“Like what,” replied Lillian innocently, “don’t worry Chloe I’m rushing you and Lex into having children. I’m happy enough with the knowledge that you and Lex will give me my first grandchild and he or she will be perfect,” she finished by kissing Chloe gently on the forehead.

Chloe smiled at her.

“So what was that confused expression you had on your face looking at the baby?” asked Lillian as the pair quietly left the room and the sleeping baby.

“I don’t know,” replied Chloe “I guess it’s just that she looks, well, so normal. I mean I’m not sure what I expected the child of two vampires to look like, but completely normal wasn’t one of them.”

Lillian laughed and tucked her arm through Chloe’s as they walked down the corridor.

“The *demon* side remains dormant until the child reaches puberty,” said Lillian, “until that moment little Mila is quite a normal baby.”

“Ah, so Christine doesn’t have to worry about fangs piercing a nipple when she’s breast feeding Mila,” grinned Chloe.

Lillian laughed again, shaking her head. “We head back to Smallville this evening,” she said.

“Yeah Lex was saying, and my dad is coming back with us.”

“And when we get back, it will be time to put an end to this Dominic business,” sighed Lillian, “this needs to be settled once and for all.”

“Are you worried about it Lillian?”

“I worry when there is anything that puts my family at risk,” she replied, “but we have stood against many enemies over the centuries and have triumphed. Dominic is just another of those, he will be tough but he will fall.”

“I don’t know what I can do, but you do have whatever help I can give,” said Chloe.

“I know that Chloe, and it is appreciated,” smiled Lillian. “Come now, enough of this kind of talk, let’s find the others.”

“I must pay a visit to Smallville one of these days,” said Alyssa as she and Elena watched Chloe finish her packing.

“You’ll be bored out of your mind,” grinned Chloe, “believe me, there is nothing to do.”

“We could make fun,” replied Elena, “you know, scare all those farm boys.”

“I don’t care if it’s boring,” said Alyssa, “I need to get away from my parents for a while… the, ‘you need to be thinking about a mate and then children’ talks have gotten more frequent since the baby was born. I’m only the same age as Lucas, I’m not ready to settle down.”

“And you sound exactly like Lucas,” said Chloe. “And hey I’m only 17, and met the person I’m going to spend forever with, and that’s forever in the literal sense.”

“I’m only 18,” said Elena, “and I have no idea when I’ll meet my mate, especially seeing the differences in your ages, although part of me really hopes its Karl when the time comes.”

“Enough talk of finding mates,” said Alyssa, “that kind of talk gives me shivers. Anyway Chloe even if Smallville is boring I still wouldn’t mind visiting you and Elena even if its only for the three of us to sit around and talk about sex.”

“Now that would be an interesting conversation to eavesdrop on,” Lucas’ voice sounded from the open door.

“Oh so you’re picking and choosing conversations to eavesdrop on then,” grinned Chloe.

“Of course, only the interesting ones are worth listening in on,” he said as he stepped into the room, “MMM me and three very beautiful women in a bedroom, oh the possibilities,” he smirked.

“Oh the pain you’ll suffer if anything happens,” Lex’s voice sounded behind him.

“Spoil sport,” muttered Lucas with a put, causing the three girls to laugh.

“Sorry to disturb Lucas’ little orgy but my mother is looking for Elena and Alyssa.”

“Well ladies, at least let me escort you there,” said Lucas, holding both his arms out.

Still laughing Elena and Alyssa took an arm each and all three walked out.

“He is incorrigible,” said Chloe shaking her head as she turned back to her packing.

“He’s not the only one,” grinned Lex, closing the bedroom door and before Chloe had a chance to react he had grabbed her around the waist and was pulling her onto the bed.

When Oliver showed no signs of waking up Dominic made his way to the front of the plane to speak with the pilot.

Etienne watched him till he was completely out of sight and then turned his gaze back to Oliver. But instead of the sleeping vampire a wide-eyed Oliver greeted him.

“I don’t believe we’ve been properly introduced,” smiled Etienne holding out his hand and keeping his voice low so Dominic wouldn’t hear. “Etienne.”

Oliver smiled slowly as he sat up, “Oliver,” he all but purred, his own voice low, shaking the other man’s hand.

“I know this is a stupid question, but how do you feel? Being back I mean?”

“Everything is very confusing,” replied Oliver, “but no doubt Dominic will fill me in on everything.”

‘Interesting,’ thought Etienne at the hint of bitterness that accompanied the mention of Dominic’s name.

“No much has happened in the way of getting the Luthors since you… left,” replied Etienne, smiling.

“That’s unsurprising.”

Etienne glanced quickly at where Dominic had gone, “what makes you say that?”

“Come now Etienne, you are far from stupid.”

A knowing smile appeared on Etienne face, this Oliver was very unlike how Dominic had described him. This Oliver seemed a lot more dangerous. Etienne knew the reason the Luthors hadn’t been toppled was because of Dominic, he just didn’t have that grand plan to carry it off. But of course he never said anything to the other vampire, Dominic was crazy and seriously unbalanced, and Etienne enjoyed his life far too much to piss him off. He was stirred from his thoughts by a hand gently caressing his thigh.

“I think you and I should get together for a *very* private talk as soon as it’s possible,” whispered Oliver.

“I think you are right,” replied Etienne, staring into the Oliver’s eyes.

“Good, we have much to discuss,” Oliver gave Etienne thigh one last squeeze before lying down and closing his eyes.

Dominic appeared almost immediately.

“Has he woken at all?” he asked, indicating to Oliver.

“No, a couple of murmurs and he moved in his sleep, but other than that nothing,” said Etienne. ‘Even more interesting, Dominic couldn’t sense him awake, and he’s his sire,’ thought Etienne, ‘oh this chat will be enlightening.’

A strange look crossed Dominic’s face, “very well, I’m going back up front for a while.” He turned on his heel and disappeared into the cockpit.

Etienne glanced down to see a sly smile on Oliver’s face but his eyes were still closed. All of a sudden he couldn’t wait to get back to America, things were going to heat up.

Chapter Hundred and Eighteen – Decisions

By the time the plane had landed back on American soil Oliver knew the sleeping routine wasn’t going to last any longer. For appearances it had looked to Dominic that he had been sleeping for the entire trip, but in reality he was mulling over in his head everything that had gone on. While his mind was still a little cloudy on various things, the one thing he was sure of was that he would not be taking any orders from Dominic.

The older vampire may be his sire and because of that a part of him would always be compelled to obey in some way, his time spent *away* had resulted in making his demon a far more independent creature. In fact it was independent to the point of mutiny. And when it picked up on the interest Etienne had in him couple with the French vampire’s distain for Dominic, it had found a perfect partner for its plans. Added to the fact Etienne was very attractive, the future was looking very bright for Oliver.

Sighing inwardly he once again felt Dominic’s eyes on him. ‘Time to play the submissive one,’ he thought. Steeling himself, he opened his eyes slowly, blinked a few times for effect and then smiled at Dominic. The response and changed demeanour was instantaneous on Dominic; the confused and wary expression of his face was quickly replaced with a look of adoration and relief.

‘Damn,’ growled his demon, ‘we are going to have to let him fuck us, but we will try to delay it as long as possible.’ Inwardly Oliver agreed with his demon, in fact the thought of Dominic touching him in that way made his skin crawl. But desperate measures were needed if his plans were to be realised and besides there was always Etienne waiting in the wings.

Preparing himself Oliver held out his hand and Dominic clasped it immediately. Schooling his features to the appropriate look, grateful with a generous dose of confusion, he spoke, “thank you Dominic, I just can’t believe that I’m here, that we are together again…”

All the little doubts that Dominic had since they had brought Oliver back disappeared at those words and he quickly pulled him into a hug. Fighting back the urge to throw up Oliver hugged Dominic back.

Dominic was muttering nonsensical terms of endearment, and every now and then would curse the Luthors and swear his revenge. Out of the corner of his eye Oliver saw Etienne standing in the shadows. He smiled at the Frenchman who in return smiled back before disappearing out of sight again.

Allowing himself to relax in Dominic’s arms, Oliver’s eyes glowed red as he thought of all the wonderful things he and Etienne would do as soon as Dominic was taken care of.

“Thank goodness we’re back,” sighed Gabe, flopping into a chair.

“Do you want something to drink dad?”

“Coffee please sweetheart.”

Chloe busied herself in the kitchen making the coffee and returned with two cups. After handing one to her dad she sat down on the couch with her own.

“School tomorrow,” mumbled Chloe.

“I get to visit the plant,” grinned Gabe, “Lucas is going to show how they’ve progressed with the re-building.”

Glancing at the clock, Chloe muttered a ‘damn’ when she saw the time. “I need to see Clark,” she said as she stood up, “there’s a conversation that needs finishing.”

“Be careful sweetie,” said Gabe, Chloe had filled him in on everything that had happened, “you and Clark have been friends for a long time, and while yes I do believe that you deserve to know the truth, just don’t get yourself hurt, whatever his response maybe.”

“I won’t dad,” she replied, kissing his cheek, “anyway Lex is going to *tag along* to keep me company.”

“Poor Clark,” grinned Gabe as Chloe left the room. Settling back in his seat he decided to finish his coffee before going to talk to Lillian. He had made a few decisions himself following on from conversations at the Romanovs.

Dominic had sent Etienne on ahead, he told him to make things ready for their return. That was more of an excuse; Dominic really wanted to spend time alone with Oliver. Something was off with Oliver and he couldn’t quite put his finger on it. Of course there was confusion that was to be expected, he had just been brought back from the dead, and his heartfelt thanks had alleviated a lot of fears, but there was something else. His demon for one thing was not at all sure about this Oliver, it sensed there was something off about him, but again put that down to what he had gone through. As soon as things settled down and Oliver was more use to the idea of being *back* things would be back to normal.

Dominic quickly bundled Oliver into the back of the waiting limo, ignoring the look of pure shock on the driver’s face. He slid in beside him and barked at the driver to hurry up and take them home.

Oliver felt exhausted, the events of the last twenty four hours coupled with the effort involved in keeping up the pretence of being the vampire Dominic remembered was taking it’s toll. So he didn’t even cringe and fight to urge to pull back when Dominic wrapped his arms around his waist and pulled him close. In fact he left his head rest on the other man’s shoulder and sighed.

“We’ll be home soon,” murmured Dominic against his hair, “and you can rest properly then. We’ll both rest; it will feel so good to have you beside me in my bed again. Everything will be perfect, you’re back and we can finally destroy the Luthors.” He hugged Oliver closer, a smile on his face.

‘Oh the Luthors will be destroyed all right,’ thought Oliver, ‘but I will be the one to do it and before that happens you, my dear Dominic, will be nothing but dust.’

“Are you ready for this?” asked Lex as the car stopped in front of the Kent farm.

“Yes,” replied Chloe, “I’ve made my mind up about this. I’m not going to be left out in the dark about this secret of Clark Kent’s and still remain friends with him. It’s not fair on me.”

“That’s very true Chloe, but he has his reasons for keeping it from you,” said Lex, “I can kind of understand what he’s going though, think back to how you found out about me.”

“You and Clark are completely different situations, and I am not having sex with Clark Kent to find out what his secret is.”

“Damn right you’re not,” grinned Lex. “Just be careful love, I’ll remain here, out of sight but still within earshot.”

Chloe nodded and kissed him quickly before getting out of the car. Squaring her shoulders she walked confidently towards the barn.

With a smile Lex watched her, “hope it works out for you,” he said with a sigh as she entered the barn.

“Clark,” she called out, “Clark.”

“Up here Chloe,” he shouted back.

Taking a deep breath she climbed the steps and found a rather serious looking Clark sitting on the couch. He stood up as she approached him, “how was your week away?” he asked, a hint of nervousness in his voice.

“It was great,” she replied, “there was this amazing costume party and while there the Romanovs, that’s who owned the mansion we were staying in, daughter-in-law went into labour and had a baby girl, their first grandchild. All rather exciting,” she finished with a grin. “What have you been up to?”

“Thinking,” he said, gesturing for her to sit down. She took the offered seat and he sat beside her, turning slightly so that they were facing each other. “I’m been doing a lot of serious thinking, and talking with my parents, sometimes talking to myself,” he said with a laugh, “and I’ve come to a few decisions.”

“And what are those decisions?” she asked softly.

“Some are about school and college, not very exciting,” he said, taking her hand in his, “well except maybe I’m considering becoming a reporter.”

“They grow up so fast,” said Chloe, pretending to wipe a tear away, “it was only yesterday you were writing out the cafeteria menus. And I seriously hope I influenced that decision.”

“You influenced most of them Chlo,” said Clark honestly. “The main decision I came to was that I need you as my friend, and I know I haven’t always been the best kind of friend. I’ve ignored you in favour of *others* on many an occasion, I’ve used your far superior intelligence to figure things out and never said thanks. I’ve lied to you and made excuses when you’ve challenged me, and most of all I take you for granted time and time again.”

“Clark...” she began.

“No Chloe, let me finish please,” he said with a smile.

“I’ve gone over and over every word of the *talk* we had before you went on your trip. And at first I was angry with you for saying what you did, but ultimately I was angry with myself for pushing you to it. You’re my best friend Chloe and if it wasn’t for you and Pete, but especially you I’d of gone crazy ages ago.”

“Well Clark on the subject of crazy,” she teased, tears filling her eyes.

“I love you Chlo, and as I said earlier, having you as my friend is more important,” he squeezed her hand and took a deep breath, “on that October morning of the meteor shower…” he began and proceeded to tell Chloe *everything*.

“Holy shit,” muttered Lex as he heard every word Clark told Chloe. “Mom was right, he is an *alien*. Oh she’ll make us suffer for not completely believing her,” he added with a chuckle. As Lex mused over the unbelievable knowledge that Smallville was home to an alien, his demon was whispering that the boy could be a help in the up and coming battle. “That is true,’” murmured Lex, “but that would mean revealing ourselves to him. And that would need to be cleared with my father and Chloe.”

“Say something Chloe,” said Clark, his voice catching slightly. He had finished telling her everything about five minutes ago and she had just sat there in silence, a look of shock on her face.

“An alien,” she whispered and Clark cringed slightly. “How fucking cool is that?” she exclaimed, and Clark’s cringe turned into a surprised expression.

“So you’re…you’re not freaked out or disgusted?”

“Freaked yes, but come on, disgusted? No never. Oh my god this is just incredible,” she babbled and stood up and began pacing, “I can not believe this, my best friend is a Martian.”

“I’m from Krypton actually,” he said automatically.

“Mars, Krypton not important,” she grinned, “oh wow Clark…” and with that she launched herself at him and hugged him tightly.

Clark was taken aback for a moment but soon he arms wrapped around her waist and he hugged her back. “Thank you Chlo,” he murmured, tears filling his eyes.

“Thank you for telling me,” she whispered back. They hugged for a few more minutes before Chloe pulled back and sat down beside him again, “Ok, I want to know everything that you can do,” she said her voice rife with excitement.

Clark chuckled and a huge weight felt lifted from his shoulders. Chloe knew his secret and she still wanted to be his friend, the two most important people in his life after his parents, Chloe and Pete knew his secret and they didn’t judge him, or want him out of their lives. His life was good; in fact it was very good.

Settling in his seat he start telling Chloe about his *gifts*.

I really like the way Chloe handled the truth about Clark - cool chick! I think that the Luthors need Clark's help very much, considering Oliver's plans, Dom is weak but hey Oliver was smart before his demise and now when his back from death and has an attidude, he is a big trouble!

Finally, Clark tell Chloe, if only that could happen for real!!! I liked Lex's idea about getting Clark to help in the battle, Clark may be a bit dim but you have to admit he'd be useful to have around in a fight!!! Something tells me that the Luthor's are gonna need all the help they can get when the go up against Oliver, he seems even more psychotic than Dominic!!!

Hello. *waves* Just letting you know that I have sat for untold hours this past week reading through 339 pages of the most fantastic fanfic I have ever had the pleasure of coming across. You have woven such a rich and intricate tale. I feel like I've been going through the journey with Chloe, because I wasn't cool at first with the whole violence/pain thing. Also, there where times when I *knew* the good guys were going to win but didn't *know* that the good guys were going to win. Oh! And Oliver? Fantastic! The red eyes has me tripping out! At first I thought maybe you decided to have another demon piggyback it's way to Earth, but this explanation is cool. Can't wait for the next update!

Chapter Hundred and Nineteen – Insights

Slipping quietly out of the bed Oliver hurried to the bathroom, locking the door behind him. Turning on the shower he stepped under the steaming hot spray and rubbed furiously at his skin, trying to wash away the scent and feel of Dominic. He didn’t manage to dissuade Dominic for long; in fact he only lasted three days before letting Dominic fuck him. He wasn’t at full strength and there was no way he could have fought the other vampire off if he had gotten too violent, so he acted the submissive lover and let Dominic have his way.

Grimacing Oliver scrubbed his skin harder and harder. “Soon” he muttered to himself, “I should be ready in a week.”

Dominic was planning on *introducing* him back into the vampire world in a few weeks, so Oliver intent was to be fully fit and for Dominic to be taken care of before then. He had his own plan for letting everyone know that he was back.

“Fuck,” he hissed as he heard Dominic approaching the bathroom.

“Naughty boy,” Dominic called out as he entered the room, “you started without me.”

Plastering a smile on his face Oliver pushed open the shower door, “well you’ll have to catch up then,” he said, a nauseous feeling building in his stomach.

With eyes flashing gold Dominic quickly entered the shower and pulled his lover tight against him. Biting back the urge to scream Oliver settled into the embrace, his eyes turning red for a moment before returning to their normal colour as his demon relented… for the time being anyway.

Lucas stood leaning against the doorframe watching his mother with a bemused expression on his face. She was ordering the staff around, barking out her commands in various languages. She was speaking so fast that Lucas only barely translated what she was saying, but in all seemed to centre around getting a closed off section of rooms in the east wing opened and habitable.

“What *is* she up too?” asked Lex appearing beside him.

“I have no idea,” replied Lucas, “but it’s almost hypnotic watching her swirl around, isn’t it?”

Lex chuckled softly.

“Why don’t you two make yourselves useful and go away,” said Lillian, her back to her sons as she directed the men lifting the large dresser out of one of the rooms.

“Mother what is going on?” asked Lex.

“I’m arranging some furniture Alexander,” she replied, a smirk on her face that neither could see.

“But why?” asked Lucas.

“It’s my castle I can arrange furniture if I like, and when I like.”

Both Lex and Lucas growled slightly at this reply. They knew by the tone of her voice that she wasn’t going to tell them anything.

A crash drew their attention to another of the rooms, a maid came running out, babbling apologies in German.

Sighing deeply Lillian waved her sons away and set about calming the young maid down.

“I have no idea what she is up too,” said Lionel ten minutes later when Lex and Lucas entered his office, demanding to know what Lillian was up too.

“I find that hard to believe dad,” said Lucas.

“Well you’re going to have too, she off on one of her little projects, and as I’ve learned over the last 500 hundred years it’s best to leave it to her. We will all know soon enough what it’s all about. Now, I would like to talk to both of you about Dominic, apparently he made a very quick trip to France around Halloween, and no one seems to know what it was all about.”

Forgetting about their mother for the time being, Lex and Lucas took a seat and listened to their father.

“What on earth is your mother up too?” asked Chloe later that evening when she arrived home from school.

“No idea,” replied Lex, kissing her softly as she took the seat beside him on the couch, “dad doesn’t know either and says we should just leave her to it and that we’ll all find out soon enough.”

“Fair enough,” she grinned, leaning against him as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders. “Has your dad said anything about Clark?”

Because Lex had been there during Clark’s confession to her and heard all the talk afterwards concerning his powers, Chloe didn’t fell guilty about his secret being revealed to others. It wasn’t as if she had been the one to tell Lex. So of course Lex told the rest of his family and the question was raised about Clark maybe being able to assist them against Dominic. Lucas thought it a good idea, as did Lex, with some reservations, but Lionel and Lillian weren’t so sure. While they were not worried about revealing their true nature to him it was more a concern about dragging more innocent people (or aliens, as Lucas piped up) into their war.

“No, he is still mulling over the idea.”

“Aliens and vampires,” said Chloe with a hint of a smirk, “I mean could my life be any more boring.”

In the blink of an eye Chloe found herself on her back on the couch with Lex hovering about her, “boring my love?” he asked, cocking an eyebrow.

“Absolute tedium,” she replied, spreading her legs so he could settle between them.

“Well, we can’t have that,” he grinned, lowering his mouth to her neck and kissing his bite mark gently.

“No, we can’t,” she moaned softly.

Despite having his own reputation for being dangerous Etienne was a little nervous around Dominic. The other vampire had a tendency to fly off the handle over the smallest of things. And sitting in a hot tub with his newly resurrected lover classified as nuclear and could easily result in the French vampire losing his head… literally.

Etienne was very attracted to Oliver, he would admit that much, but there was something… evil about him, well as vampires there was always a hint of evil about them, but this one was different. All the reports he had heard about Oliver prior to him being brought back pointed to a rather intelligent human, particularly in the art of explosives and very much his own man. According to reports after being turned by Dominic he changed, he became completely submissive to his sire, following orders like some lap dog. But the vampire who came back was a different creature all together. From what Etienne had observed this Oliver couldn’t bear Dominic touching him and fought very hard to cover up any cringing, and he fought very well against the urge to flinch from the other vampire. On top of all this Dominic seemed completely oblivious to all of this.

“Will you relax,” grinned Oliver, sipping his drink, “we won’t be disturbed. Dominic is *out* for the night.”

“And what exactly did you do?”

“A rather strong sedative in his drink, knocked him out immediately. He’ll wake later thinking he drank way too much as usual. Now relax,” he said again, patting Etienne’s thigh under the water.

“You are not at all what I expected,” said Etienne after a moment, willing himself to relax and enjoy the moment.

“And is that good or bad?”

“Oh it’s good, very good,” he replied.

“Let’s say my time away,” he grinned, “broke me free from the pathetic whimpering slave to Dominic I was becoming. In fact before killing the Luthors I think I’ll thank them, because in a way they are responsible for the new me.”

“And why do you think you’ll succeed in destroying the Luthors when many have failed, Dominic included?”

“Dominic is an idiot, he will never beat Lionel Luthor. Although capturing Lex Luthor’s mate is a good idea, he of course went about it all wrong.”

“So you would still see about getting her?” asked Etienne as he poured himself another drink.

“Yes, but to be used as bait. I have no interest in *doing* anything else to her, or throwing her to others to have fun with. See that’s Dominic’s problem he lacks finesse. If he had of captured her she would have been tortured and raped to death, probably all on camera to be sent to the Luthors, who would in turn launch an all out attack, led by Lex. And do you know what would have happened then Etienne?”

“Lex Luthor would have destroyed Dominic, so consumed by grief and anger at his mate’s demise and nothing would stop him extracting his revenge before he succumbed to death himself.”

“Exactly, which is why capturing her for bait is a better idea. From what Dominic’s told me I’m guessing she is still human, and the mating ceremony hasn’t taken place yet, there is no way the Luthors wouldn’t let everyone know that their son had mated. No she is definitely still human, and therefore a lot more vulnerable.”

“But we still don’t know who she is?”

“And again Dominic’s plan was all wrong in that sense. Just because Lex has been seen with a certain type of woman over the years doesn’t mean his mate fits that profile. Dominic is so blinded by his mother’s teachings that he regularly forgets his vampire heritage other than the fact he’s strong, instils fear and loves blood and torture. We are powerful beings and capable of so much more, we only allow our demons so much freedom, especially those of us that aren’t pureblood. We don’t fully understand what we are truly capable of,” as he spoke Oliver’s eyes glowed red.

Etienne gasped, “What are you?” he whispered.

“I am free Etienne,” he said, “my eyes have been opened and I now see what I am capable of.”

“And what exactly are you capable of?” for some reason Etienne couldn’t not drag his eyes away from Oliver’s, they were hypnotic and found himself leaning closer.

“Of ruling the world,” whispered Oliver before kissing the other vampire hard. “We can’t go too far,” he said a moment later when they parted, “well not yet, Dominic will smell you on me and me on you.”

“When?” gasped Etienne, as Oliver’s lips moved to his neck.

“Very soon,” murmured Oliver, his hand moving higher on Etienne’s thigh, “in fact in less than a week Dominic will be no more. Are you with me Etienne?”

With a groan of “yes,” Etienne pulled Oliver’s face to his and kissed him.

Chuckling inwardly Oliver allowed the other vampire to dominate the kiss. He would announce his return on his own terms, and the destruction of Dominic will certainly shake up the vampire world.

“Hello Lionel my love,” greeted Lillian warmly as she entered her husband’s study.

Lionel cocked an eyebrow as she rounded his desk and sat on his lap, planting a wet kiss on his cheek.

“Ok, who are you and what have you done with my wife,” he teased as his arms wrapped around her waist.

“I’m just in a good mood,” she replied.

“What’s going on Lillian?”

“We are throwing a party this Saturday, everything is all ready, all invites have been sent out.”

“Why?”

“It’s Chloe’s 18th birthday, and it’s a surprise party. Lex will distract her all day and bring her to the castle at the appropriate time.”

“Is this what you and Gabe have been plotting.”

“The party is part of the reason I’m happy.”

“And would the rest have anything to do with whatever you’re doing in the east wing?”

“It may,” replied Lillian coyly.

“Just because she’s turning 18 doesn’t mean anything Lillian.”

“Lionel, don’t spoil my mood. I know what I am doing.”

“Like I’ve said before darling, that’s what I’m afraid of,” grinned Lionel, kissing her before she could react.

Chloe woke up with a gasp, sitting up in the bed. Reaching her hand out she fumbled around for a moment before switching on the small lamp. Breathing hard she rested the same hand on her chest, feeling her heart thumping wildly.

She had been dreaming about Lex, which in itself wasn’t unusual… but this dream was about the night she was claimed. She could feel everything, his mouth against her neck whispering words and then the bite.

“Words,” she muttered, “I can actually remember the words.” A sudden realisation washed over her, “I know what to do,” she whispered.

In Metropolis Lex and Lucas were meeting with some contacts to see if there was any more information about Dominic.

“What’s wrong?” asked Lucas, as Lex seemed to sway.

“Nothing,” he replied, brushing his brother’s hand away, “I just felt weird, it was like something washing over me.”

“Are you sure? You look even paler than usual,” joked Lucas although there was an underlying hint of concern.

“I’m fine Lucas,” he said, smiling at his brother. He didn’t know what had happened, but he had this distinct feeling that something big was about to happen… and it involved him and Chloe.

Chapter Hundred and Twenty – Growing Instincts

It had been two days since she woke up from the dream about her claiming and she still hadn’t seen Lex and it was driving her crazy. He and Lucas were still in Metropolis on business for Lionel. She felt… antsy, restless and unbelievably *horny*, it was like her body was calling out to Lex. Their sex life was pretty incredible and they had gone more than two days before without making love, but since the night of the dream she felt like she was in a constant state of arousal, and *needed* Lex. And at all times the words he had murmured against her neck just before he bit her that first time played over and over in her head.

Chloe had decided to have a serious chat with Lex on Saturday, it was her 18th birthday and the two of them were going out for a romantic dinner. ‘Turning 18 will turn out to be very momentous for me,’ she thought.

She moved through the house looking for her dad, or Lillian or anyone for that matter, there was no one around, even Karl and Elena seemed to be missing; only the staff seemed to be wandering about.

“There is something strange going on,” muttered Chloe. “Ah David,” she called out, spying the butler.

The man turned and faced her, “Miss Chloe, what can I do for you?” he asked with a smile.

She rolled her eyes at the ‘Miss Chloe’ but said nothing, it had taken her long enough to get him to stop calling her Miss Sullivan, “I was wondering where everybody was,” she said.

“Mr Luthor is in his study. Mrs Luthor and Mr Sullivan are in the main library,” said David.

“And Karl and Elena.”

“I believe they are away on business for the master,” he said with a small smile, “will that be all Miss?”

“Oh yes thanks David,” she smiled. The older man nodded at her and continued on his journey down the corridor.

Chloe stood where she was for a few minutes gathering her thoughts and then she had something of moment of clarity and with purpose, headed in the direction of her first stop…Lionel’s study.

“So most of the guests will be vampires,” said Gabe as he and Lillian looked through the lists.

“Yes, her school friends and the Kents plus a couple of others from Smallville are the exceptions,” replied Lillian.

“And Chloe and myself of course,” grinned Gabe.

“Well that goes without saying,” smirked Lillian.

“She’ll hate that we’ve kept all this from her,” said Gabe, “well she’ll be angrier with herself for not figuring out what’s going on. Having to be told what you are Lillian put a big dent in her reporter skills, and she’s worked hard and honing them again, having all this planned without her knowledge will upset the balance again.”

“I can get Lex to tell her, if she’s going to be upset Gabe.”

“Nonsense, I don’t often get one over on my daughter, we’ll be telling her nothing.”

Lillian laughed out loud, “Yes there is a kind of perverse pleasure in catching your children out.”

A slightly more relaxed Chloe walked along the corridor towards the main library with Lionel. She had called upon the Luthor patriarch and he knew exactly what she wanted to talk about, even though she wasn’t so sure herself, the moment she entered his study.

He gave an explanation to why she was feeling the way she was and as they left his study to find Lillian and her dad she felt much better.

Lillian’s attention was drawn from Gabe as she sensed her husband approaching. ‘I know something you don’t know,’ his smug-sounding voice echoed in her head.

The door to the library opened and in stepped Lionel and Chloe.

“What are you up too?” asked Chloe as she saw a *look* pass over her dad’s face.

“Nothing sweetie,” he replied, “Lillian and I were just chatting about things.”

Chloe narrowed her eyes at her dad, not believing him for one moment. But that wasn’t important at the moment, she would talk to him later the *things* he and Lillian had been discussing.

“Well that’s very interesting dad as Lionel and I were discussing things as well.”

‘What’s going on Lionel?’ Lillian’s voice sounded in his head, and she glared at him, as he didn’t answer her, only smirked very smugly at her.

“Why don’t we all sit over here,” said Lionel gesturing to the large couches.

A minute or so later all four were seated. Chloe took a deep breath and turned to face her dad and Lillian… “Ok,” she began, “it’s like this…”

That survival instinct that had saved him on many an occasion was making itself known. Dominic stood watching as Oliver fed on a young man they had picked up. He was more savage than he remembered, but just as beautiful to watch. Out of the corner of his eye he spotted Etienne standing in the shadows, watching Oliver.

The French vampire was beginning to outstay his welcome in Dominic’s opinion. And he believed that Etienne was the cause of the feeling of uneasiness he was experiencing. Plus the way he kept looking at Oliver was most concerning.

‘Yes its time for Etienne to be disposed of,’ he thought, ‘and maybe I’ll let Olivier do it. MMM yes the more I think about it the better the idea seems. It would be an excellent way to let everyone know that *I* have brought Oliver back.’

Dropping the drained body to the ground Oliver noticed the faraway look on Dominic’s face. ‘Plotting someone’s demise I’d wager,’ he thought. His eyes locked on Etienne’s and he winked at the other vampire, who smiled leeringly in return.

Oliver indicated with his head to the door, Etienne nodded and left the room.

Dominic snapped out of his visions of Oliver torturing and killing Etienne when the door slammed closed. “Finished playing?” he asked with a grin when he noticed the body on the floor.

“For the time being,” replied Oliver.

“I’ve been thinking about your *introduction* back into society,” he said as he crossed the room to him.

“And,” urged Oliver, resisting the urge to flinch as Dominic brought his hand up and wiped some blood from his lips with his thumb.

“And I think we should do it this Saturday.”

“What have you got planned?” asked Oliver, wondering if Dominic was going to be as predictable as he expected him to be. In fact he was counting on it, for Dominic to develop a brain now would seriously affect his own plans.

“A nice torture session to announce your return,” grinned Dominic.

‘Ah you haven’t let me down,’ thought Oliver, inwardly grinning. “And the poor unfortunate victim would be?”

“Etienne,” smirked Dominic.

Oliver gasped, giving Dominic the impression he was shocked by the mention of Etienne’s name, but inwardly he was rejoicing, this was exactly what he had planned. “But…Etienne, why?” he asked.

“He’s begun to outstay his welcome, and I believe he has designs on you. Anyway I’ve tired of having him around. Since your return I have no need for him, and think on it Oliver, Etienne is quite well-known so having you kill him will send ripples through our world, it will be the perfect way for you to be reintroduced.”

“Well if you think so,” said Oliver. He couldn’t wait to see Etienne later and tell him that their plans were moving along exactly as he had anticipated.

“Oh it will be perfect,” said Dominic, wrapping his arms around Oliver’s waist, “and this Saturday we bid a fond farewell to the lovely Etienne, and let everyone know that you have returned.”

Oliver allowed himself to be pulled into Dominic’s embrace, knowing that he only had to endure for a couple more days, it would be Dominic who would meet his demise on Saturday.

Chloe stood in Lex’s room, clad in one of his shirts, looking out the window onto the Luthor estate. Chapter Hundred and Twenty One – Surprise

“Looking *damn* good Chloe,” she said to her reflection as she gave herself one last look over to make sure everything was perfect.

It was her birthday and Lex was taking her out to dinner. She had chosen a deep red silk dress that fell to her thighs, it had a scooped neck and dipped so low in the back it only about graced the top of her ass. Lex’s mark stood out proud on her neck, shown off even more by the fact her hair was pulled back in a chignon and a pair of red stilettos completed the look. “Eighteen Chloe, a monumental age,” she grinned at her reflection, “and a monumental decision made,” she added a little more seriously.

“Are you decent?” the amused voice of Lex sounded from outside the door.

“Would it make a difference,” she replied back as he entered the room.

“Of course it would,” he smiled, his eyes slowly moving up and down her body. “If you weren’t decent the chances of us leaving this room would be greatly reduced. Although looking at you in that dress makes me want to rip it off you and fuck you till we are both too exhausted to move. God Chloe you look amazing.”

“So do you,” she groaned as she took in his dark suit and blood red silk shirt.

He crossed the room quickly and pulled her into his arms giving her a searing kiss.

‘Lex, you are on a schedule,’ his mother’s voice sounded in his head.

Very reluctantly he released Chloe’s mouth, “we should probably go,” he whispered.

Chloe nodded and picked up the black wrap from the chair. Lex took it from her and draped it across her shoulders before holding his arm out to her.

She took it and grabbed her purse as they left the room.

‘One hour Lex,’ Lillian’s voice sounded again.

‘Yes mother,’ he replied back, and led Chloe to the waiting limo.

“Is everything in place?” Oliver asked Etienne, as they both watched Dominic make his way around the room, greeting various people. They were in a room overlooking the proceedings, Dominic had told Oliver to stay out of sight until the right moment.

“Yes,” replied Etienne, “all they need is your signal.”

Tonight was the night when Oliver would be reintroduced into the vampire world. Dominic had hired out this club and invited humans, demons and vampires he could count as his allies. As far as Dominic was concerned tonight would see the torture and death of Etienne, and everyone would know he had brought Oliver back. It would once again put him in a position of power in the vampire world, his name would be spoken in fear and he would get his revenge on the Luthors. But what would really occur tonight Dominic could not imagine in his wildest dreams. Oliver and Etienne had their own plans in place, and everything would be perfect.

“Just think Etienne,” said Oliver, his hand resting on the small of the other vampire’s back, “tonight our names will be spoken in fear.”

Etienne sighed softly and leaned back against Oliver’s hand. Oliver had spent hours telling him of his plans, not only his plans for Dominic but also his plans for all vampires who would stand against him. The *pure* vampires had ruled for far too long, it was time for a new breed of leader. And the destruction of a family as powerful as the Luthors would be everything he needed to be taken seriously as that new leader.

Grinning Oliver watched Dominic, his eyes flashing red at the thought of the pain he was going to inflict on his sire before the night was out.

‘Tonight its Dominic,’ he thought, ‘tomorrow the Luthors.’

“Where exactly are we going?” asked Chloe, about twenty minutes into their trip.

“It’s a surprise,” smirked Lex as he poured them both a glass of champagne. In reality they were just driving around Smallville, as his mother had said they had an hour to kill. But with the windows completely blackened out and the partition up between themselves and the driver, Chloe had no idea where they where going.

“I’m not that fond of surprises,” she huffed as he handed her a glass of champagne, “every since my boyfriend surprised me with the fact he is a vampire,” she added with a grin.

“That’s sad that you’re not keen on surprises,” said Lex, ignoring her quip about how she found out what he was, “then I guess you won’t be interested in these then,” he reached into his jacket pocket and drew out two slim black velvet boxes. There was a third box in his pocket, but that one would remain there till the end of the evening, if everything went according to plan it would be presented to Chloe later.

“Well some surprises are ok,” she said, reaching out for the boxes.

“I don’t think so,” he grinned, pulling them out of her reach, “I should probably return them.”

“Lex, don’t tease.”

“Happy birthday love,” he said, handing one box to her.

Setting her glass to the side she opened the box eagerly, “Oh wow,” she breathed, her eyes widening as she saw the contents. “Oh Lex it’s beautiful,” she drew the necklace out of the box. It was a white gold chain with a diamond in the shaped of a teardrop as its pendant. The diamond itself was about the size of a quarter. “Will you help me?”

“Of course,” he said, delighted that she liked it. He took the chain in his hands and gently placed it around her neck and then secured the delicate clasp. He placed a soft kiss on the back of her neck before she tuned around to face him. “It looks good on you.”

“Oh I love it,” she exclaimed throwing her arms around him and hugging him tightly.

“And now this one,” he grinned handing her the second box when she released him, “this one is actually from my parents and Lucas.”

Smiling she opened the second box and a silver key fell out. She picked it up and looked at Lex in confusion.

“Tomorrow morning there will be a black Porsche in the driveway that will start with that key.”

“A Porsche, your family bought me a Porsche!”

Lex nodded.

“I have a Porsche,” she gasped, “oh god I can’t wait to see Lana Lang’s face. Does that make me sound shallow and bitchy?”

“Yes, but I love you anyway,” Lex said with a laugh as he picked up her glass of champagne and handed it to her, “happy birthday Chloe,” he said raising his glass.

“Thank you Lex,” she smiled, clinking her glass against his. They both took a sip and Chloe sighed in contentment. “So are we any closer to our destination?”

“Not far now,” he smirked.

In the great hall in the Luthor castle everyone was almost gathered for the surprise birthday party for Chloe. Most of the guests were made up of the various vampires that Chloe had met during her time with Lex. The Kents, Pete, Lana and her aunt were the odd ones out.

Sergi hadn’t attended, he remained home with his son, daughter-in-law and grandchild, but Alyssa and Natasha had come. Charlotte, Michelle and Paul, along with Annaleise were there as well, with Anna spending her time by Gabe’s side.

Lana had latched on Lucas the moment she had arrived, while Pete and Clark stood to the side watching everyone else there. Elena and Karl watched with smiles as Lana dragged Lucas over to where he aunt was. “Poor Lucas, he looks ready to snap,” said Karl.

“So would you if you had to spend any time in that insipid girl’s company,” said Elena.

“Poor girl,” said Karl mockingly, “she has designs on being a Mrs Luthor. She really needs to be brought back down to earth.”

“Oh I have a feeling Lucas will do that soon enough,” grinned Elena.

‘Please someone stake me now,’ thought Lucas as Nell went on and on about how great and brave Lana was. And to make matters even worse the stupid girl was adding in her own bits.

“I can’t wait to see Chloe’s face tomorrow when she sees the present we bought her,” he said, changing the subject and delighting in the matching looks the appeared on aunt and niece’s faces.

“Oh, and what is the present?” asked Lana, trying to make it sound like she didn’t care either way.

“Just a Porsche,” said Lucas.

“A…a Porsche,” said Lana, “*you* got Chloe Sullivan a Porsche.”

“Well it’s from my parents and myself,” grinned Lucas, enjoying the rather sick look that now graced Lana’s features, “but *I* did pick the model and colour.”

“Isn’t that very generous of you,” said Nell through gritted teeth as she took Lana’s arm. “If you’ll excuse us for a moment Lucas I need to talk to Lana.”

“Of course ladies,” he replied, with a bright smile. Turning away from them he walked away, feeling much better. His smile grew as he heard Nell telling Lana to calm down.

“Whoa, Lana looks like she’s about to go postal,” said Pete.

Clark looked over at the brunette who was being led away by her aunt. His eyes narrowed as he watched them. He had heard what Lucas Luthor had said about buying Chloe a car, and he had picked up and the disbelief and jealously in Lana’s voice. Sighing he turned his attention back to Pete.

“Things change bro,” said Pete, smiling.

“I know,” replied Clark, “and for the better.”

“Ah Etienne, enjoying the party,” smirked Dominic.

“Yes, it seems to be a good gathering,” replied the French man. “When are you planning your grand surprise?”

“Oh very soon,” said Dominic. “You know I have been very grateful for all your help. Especially in deciphering the parchment and conducting the ceremony to bring Oliver back.”

“No need to thank me Dominic, I enjoyed the challenge of working out the details of the ceremony and to be involved in actually bringing one of us back was reward enough.”

“And what do you think of Oliver?”

“I think he is everything you said he was,” replied Etienne, ‘and a lot more besides,’ he added silently.

Dominic caught the eye of someone behind Etienne and nodded. “Like I said earlier Etienne I am very grateful for your help, but now it’s time to bid farewell, you’ve overstayed your welcome. NOW,” he called out.

But instead of the men grabbing Etienne, Dominic soon found himself been held tightly by his own men.

“What’s going on here?” he said, struggling and managing to push one of the men away. He swung out at the other one holding him and vamping out made to attack Etienne, only to be stopped by Oliver stepping beside the French vampire.

There were gasps from the crowd as the stared wide-eyed at Oliver; there were whispers and mumblings, all of which were ignored by the three vampires in the centre of the room.

“Oliver, what is this about?” snapped Dominic.

“Surprise lover,” grinned Oliver grabbed him by the throat and squeezing hard.

“Ok we’re here,” smiled Lex as the car came to a stop. He took a silk scarf from his pocket and began tying it around her eyes.

“This is silly Lex,” she said, although she enjoyed the mystery of it all.

Moments later, they were walking though the front door, Lex guiding her movements. He led her down the corridor to the main room. There wasn’t a sound from anyone.

Guiding her to the middle of the room he placed one arm around her waist and moved his other hand to take the scarf from her eyes.

“Happy birthday love,” he whispered and pulled the scarf from her eyes.

Chapter Hundred and Twenty Two – Party Pieces

Oliver walked around the chained Dominic with a grin on his face. Dominic was suspended from ceiling by chains, completely naked; a circle of demons and vampires surrounded him.

Everything had happened so fast. One minute Dominic was preparing to introduce Oliver back to the vampire world by having him torture and kill Etienne, the next minute the tables had turned and Oliver attacked him and here he was at his lover’s mercy. For the first time in his long life his survival instinct had let him down. He had been so convinced that Etienne had been the threat; he never thought that Oliver would be the one to betray him. But now was not the time for hindsight, now was the time for finding a way out of this situation.

“What the fuck is going on here?” Dominic spat out, twisting against the chains, he need to make sure everyone around knew he was still to be feared, despite his current predicament, and showing a complete lack of fear was a good start. Plus he needed to draw this out so that he had time to make an escape and find out what exactly was going on with Oliver.

“We’re continuing with the party of course,” smirked Oliver, “after all *you* were the one who organised the party piece. I have just spiced it up a little. Oh Etienne, if you are ready.”

Dominic watched as Etienne stepped into the circle, a strange and rather painful looking whip in his hands along with a small silver canister of some sort.

Ignoring the chained vampire Etienne walked up to Oliver, “I’ve been saving this one for a special occasion,” he grinned handing the whip to Oliver, “it has a couple of enhancements that will give each stroke an extra *bite*.”

“Excellent,” smirked Oliver, and keeping his eyes on Dominic, he leaned forward and kissed Etienne hard, his free hand moving between the French vampire’s legs and cupping his crotch, drawing a low groan from Etienne.

Dominic growled and struggled harder against the chains, but he knew it was futile, not even his vampiric strength could break them.

Oliver released Etienne and licked his lips, smirking at Dominic. He held out the whip and Etienne unstopped the canister and poured the contents over the lash. Dominic could feel his demon getting unsettled as it dawned on him that the canister had contained holy water.

Oliver walked behind Dominic, allowing his hand to gently run up and down his back. Despite himself Dominic couldn’t prevent the small groan escaping his lips at the almost sensual gesture.

“It’s all up and running Oliver,” grinned Etienne.

He pulled back his arm, the whip ready to strike, “I know you can withstand a great deal of pain, in fact I know you *get off* on it a lot, but the pain I’m going to inflict on you will have no pleasure to it, well no pleasure for you, I have no doubt that I will enjoy myself immensely. Now remember to scream nice and loud,” he said and brought it down hard on the chained vampire’s back. The combination of the power behind the stroke, the holy water and what seemed to be an electrical charge hit the skin of his back, Dominic cried out, the scent of his blood hitting the air.

“Wonderful,” laughed Oliver, “now let’s see how loud you can be,” and with that he began lashing his sire over and over again.

“I bet you knew about this all along,” Chloe teased her dad as they danced.

“Of course I did,” grinned Gabe, “in fact Lillian approached me about organising it right after Natasha’s party.”

“Well despite the fact I hate being surprised,” she said with a grin, “thank you so much.”

“You’re welcome sweetie,” and he hugged her tight, “18 years old,” he said when he released her, “my baby girl is really all grown up now. I am so proud of you, everything that has happened since we moved to this town you never let it get you down; you rose above it. And then this thing with Lex and the rest of the Luthors, you were just brilliant through it all.”

“Dad,” said Chloe, getting embarrassed, “don’t be silly. If anything you helped more than anything to accept Lex and make another go of things.”

“Shut up Chloe,” said Gabe good-naturedly, “I’m your father and if I say I’m proud of you, you accept it like a good daughter. Now, if you’ll let me continue with my speech, ok?”

“Ok,” she replied, smiling.

“You are by far the most important thing in my life, and I would do anything within my power to ensure you are safe and happy. I know there are things going on with the Luthors that put you and me in danger but I believe they will do everything to ensure we are safe. That is why, despite some reservations about you being a little young and me being so not ready to let you go in that sense, I give you and Lex my complete blessing. I love you Chloe.”

“Oh dad, I love you too, so much,” she said, tears in her eyes and she hugged her dad, “you are the best, you really are.”

Lillian and Lionel watched father and daughter hugging. They hadn’t been listening in on their conversation, but knew whatever Gabe had said to his daughter it was very important.

“Oh Lionel,” gasped Lillian, “it will happen tonight. I am so excited.”

Lionel’s squeezed his wife’s hand, “I know my dear. As soon as the other humans, and Clark,” he added with a smirk, “are gone we will allow them to make the proper announcement.”

Lana was ready to go, Lucas had been ignoring her since Lex and Chloe arrived. Clark and Pete were talking with that Italian bitch and some other girl, so she was not happy. Not only did Chloe Sullivan get a car, and a Porsche at that, she arrived at the part looking absolutely amazing and with a fucking diamond around her neck.

“I want to leave now,” she said as her aunt came up beside her.

“That sounds like a good idea Lana, we do have to open the Talon early.”

Lucas, who was walking past at the time, stopped, “leaving ladies?” he asked.

“We have an early start,” said Nell.

“I understand,” he said with mock-concern, “well why don’t you say goodbye to Chloe and I’ll get my car and rip you both home.”

“That is so sweet of you Lucas,” gushed Lana.

“It’s my pleasure,” he replied, “now off you go.” He watched as the two hurried over to Chloe, “thank goodness they are going. I think I’ll lay on the charm on the way home,” he said to himself as he headed out of the room, “no reason why I can’t have some fun.”

‘Don’t be too long Lucas,’ his father’s voice sounded in his head, ‘I want you back here within the hour.’

‘An hour will be enough time dad, I only intend to tease her, not kill her, not yet anyway’ he said back and smirking at his father’s answering laugh went to get his car keys.

It was only the chains that were keeping Dominic upright. Blood flowed from everywhere; his entire body a mass of open wounds caused by the ferocious whipping that Oliver had just given him. Such was the beating that the wounds weren’t healing as fast as they normally would; he had lost too much blood.

“Oh you performed just wonderfully Dominic; I was very impressed by your screaming.” Oliver handed the whip to Etienne. “You lasted much longer than I gave you credit for.”

Oliver had steadily whipped Dominic for hours before the beaten vampire begged him to stop, not that he did of course, but he wasn’t lying when he said he was impressed at how long he lasted.

“Why?” croaked Dominic.

“Why? Well because I can. Because it was your fault I was captured, torture and killed by the Luthors. Because I don’t believe you deserve to win this war you started, it’s a fucking miracle you got as far as you did. The entire Luthor-Corp plant plan was all mine, there was no way you could have come up with that and executed it with the precision that I did. Because you never gave me a chance to discover what I could be, you exerted your dominance over me the moment I woke you after you turned me. You basically fucked me into submission and I never got a say in the matter, because I didn’t know any better, you suffocated my demon, it never had a chance. My time *away* gave me the opportunity to think about things and to see what exactly I could have been capable of, and imagine my delight and surprise when your little ceremony pulled me from hell. And what happened the moment I was returned, you once again set about showing me you were the dominant one, have you any idea how much your touch disgusted me, how I scrubbed my body raw after every time you fucked me?”

Those words pierced through Dominic; the only two people he had ever cared for had been his mother and Oliver. He had always believed the Oliver was his true mate, so to hear him say he was disgusted by his touch, hurt as much as the whipping did.

“Oh it wasn’t always like this,” continued Oliver, “when you first turned me and I didn’t know any better, I enjoyed your touch, I revelled in the feelings you gave me, but like I said my time away clarified things for me. I will be the one to take down the Luthors, the Romanovs and all the *great* families. You need someone with brains to plan this not brawn.”

Oliver allowed himself to fully vamp out, revelling in the expected gasps and looks of fear from everyone in the room. He did not look like any vampire any of them had ever seen before. His red eyes glowed, his mouth seemed larger, revelling longer and sharper looking fangs that those of any vampire. He growled in slight pain as the sound of bones cracking greeted the appearance of leather-like wings on his back, the transformation was completed by the two horns that had grown from his forehead. The temperature in the room seemed to drop as Oliver slowly looked around the room, making sure he made eye contact with every vampire and demon watching him. Every vampire could feel his or her own demon bowing in submission to Oliver.

“What are you?” gasped Dominic.

“I am the future of vampires,” said Oliver. Etienne appeared beside him with a bowl of holy water in his hands, “far more powerful than any of you,” he sank both hands into the water, and more gasps and murmurs accompanied the realisation that it had no effect on him. The scent of fear increased in the room to a palatable level and Oliver basked in it.

He walked up to Dominic and lifted his water dripping hands, “scream my dear Dominic,” and placed both hands on Dominic’s cheeks, the screams echoed through the room, and the smell of burning flesh filled the air.

Etienne’s eyes flashed and his demon purred at the violence of Oliver’s actions. Oh yes, being aligned with this vampire would for starters raise his own profile, and even more important would really sate his thirst for torture and violence. ‘He is magnificent,’ he thought as he watched Oliver scratch his nails across Dominic’s chest, completely opening the flesh even more so you could literally see bone.

Oliver moved behind Dominic; spread his wings wide as he placed his hands either side of Dominic’s head. Looking directly into the camera that had been recording every thing that had gone on Oliver smiled, “Mr Luthor, I am in no doubt that you will be more than surprised to see that I’m back. I guess in a way I kind of owe you and your family, had you not killed me I would have never come back far more powerful and stronger than ever. So in lieu of that I am giving you a warning, don’t try and fight me, you have no choice. Just submit now and save a lot of unnecessary bloodshed.”

Grinning, he twisted Dominic’s head so hard that the head separated from the body. For a split second there was nothing and then the body and head of Dominic exploded into dust. Wiping the *remains* of his former sire from his hands Oliver watched as every one in the room bowed their heads in submission.

“I look forward to meeting you Lionel,” he said to the camera and then gestured to Etienne to turn it off. “Spread the word to everyone,” he addressed the room, “tell them a new player is in charge.”

The party had wound down, all that remained besides the Luthors and the Sullivans where Karl, Elena, Natasha and Alyssa, Annaleise, Paul and Michelle and Charlotte, Lucas had also returned, feeling happy at completely leading Lana on, although he did nearly throw up when he kissed her, even if it was only a brief peck on the lips.

Lillian was like a giddy child as she watched Chloe and Lex dancing, they swayed slowly to the music.

Some of the other couples were dancing as well, while Charlotte was talking to Alyssa and Natasha about the baby.

“Calm down Lillian,” said Lionel softly, “just let them go at their own pace.”

“I am calm Lionel, I don’t know where you got the idea that I’m not,” she replied, a haughty tone to her voice.

“Oh silly me, how could I have made that mistake?” smirked Lionel, watching as his wife was practically bouncing on her feet.

“Did you enjoy your evening?” asked Lex.

“It was perfect,” replied Chloe. “Oh we must take a spin tomorrow evening in my new car.”

Lex laughed and drew her closer, tightening his arms around her.

“I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately,” she began, “thinking about you and me. It all kind of stemmed from a dream I had about the night you claimed me.”

“A good dream or a very good dream,” he teased.

“A dream about the words you whispered against my neck just before you claimed me,” she replied.

“Ok, so it was an interesting dream,” he said as they stopped moving. “To be honest with you I didn’t even know that I knew those words, they just seemed to automatically come to me, it was like I *had* to say them at that exact moment.”

“I bind myself to thee, all of me, the heart that beats no more is yours, and my demon gives itself to you, to my mate. Your blood will be mine, as mine is yours. We will be bound forever, forsaking all others, there is only you and I,” said Chloe.

Lex smiled and releasing her hand reached into his pocket.

“I’m ready to move to the next stage with you Lex. I’m not ready to become a vampire yet but I am ready to complete the bonding. I am ready for the mating ceremony.”

Lex could feel his demon crowing in delight, they would have their mate, bound properly to them. “I had a feeling that something like this would happen, which is probably why I felt compelled to get this,” he pulled out the small ring-sized velvet box. “The mating ceremony is our equivalent of a marriage, with no priest or church and a lot more blood involved,” he smiled, “but the moment I saw this I knew I wanted to see it on your finger, and I want to do this right for your world as well.”

He dropped to one knee and Chloe felt her heart beat faster and faster, the mark on her neck throbbing in time with the beats. She held her breath, unaware that everyone else in the room was watching and listening to them.

“Chloe Sullivan, would you do me the honour of being my mate?” he asked, holding out the box.

“Oh Lex yes,” she gushed.

Lex stood quickly and pulled her into his arms kissing her hard as everyone burst into applause around them.

When they parted, a very embarrassed Chloe buried her head in Lex’s shoulder as the clapping died down.

“Here love, let me,” he opened the box and took out the platinum ring. It was a single emerald surrounding by a ring of diamonds.

“It’s beautiful,” she whispered as he slid it onto the third finger of her left hand.

As soon as the ring was in place everyone came over to congratulate the pair. Chloe found herself engulfed in a hug by Lillian, while her dad hugged Lex.

“I am so happy for both of you,” said Lionel, as David appeared with a bottle of champagne.

Very quickly everyone held a glass.

“To the happy couple,” cheered Lionel, raising his class.

“To Chloe and Lex,” everyone replied, toasting the pair.

Fi, this was a beautiful update!

I keep saying this, but it bears repeating--Gabe is the coolest dad ever :D He is so accepting of the whole vampire mate/claiming stuff. Chloe and Lex are lucky that Gabe isn't throwing any type of wrench into the works.

Chapter Hundred and Twenty Three – Grave Danger

“See that this is delivered to Smallville as soon as possible,” said Oliver as he handed the DVD disk to a young messenger, who was practically shaking in his boots.

“Yes sir, I’ll see to it myself,” he replied, a slight tremor to his voice.

“See that you do. I want Lionel Luthor to see this before news of my return gets out into the general community,” he waved his hand to dismiss the man.

“So what happens now?” asked Etienne.

“Now we wait for the shit to hit the fan,” grinned Oliver.”

“What do you think Lionel will do?”

“Well I know what he won’t do. He won’t panic or rush into finding out what has happened. He’ll sit down with his family and they will discuss everything. He will then probably dispatch his people to gather information. Lionel Luthor will not *do* anything until he knows everything.”

“Is that a hint of admiration I hear in your voice?” teased Etienne.

“Yes it is,” replied Oliver. “Lionel Luthor deserves admiration and fear; this is the vampire that set about uniting the great families. He is a masterful tactician and has an excellent business and military mind. And he has his family with him, and as a united front the Luthors are a force to be reckoned with. That was Dominic’s biggest failing, he completely underestimated Lionel, he thought of him as just another vampire to take down.”

“While you know exactly who you are dealing with,” said Etienne with a grin.

“Of course I do, which is why *I* will succeed.”

When Chloe Sullivan woke up the following morning she felt different. Yes she was exhausted from the party and the incredible sex she and Lex had to celebrate but apart from that she did feel *different*, if she were to try and describe it she would say it felt like she was complete.

Smiling sleepily she stretched in the bed, wriggling her hands out in front of her. Although the curtains were drawn a sliver of sun poked through and reflected off Chloe’s ring. She watched as the diamonds sparkled. She was engaged, she was 18 years old and she was engaged to a 250 year old master vampire, and for reasons she could only attribute to insanity, it felt so *right*.

Sighing contently she slipped out of bed and grabbing the silk robe from the floor put it on over her naked body as she headed for the bathroom.

Lex smiled to himself as he entered Chloe’s room and heard the shower going. Stripping off as he made his way to the bathroom he could make out Chloe’s outline through the frosted glass of the shower cubicle.

With her back to the door Chloe felt the gust of cold air as someone opened the door and stepped in behind her.

“Lex,” she sighed as his hands settled on her waist and his lips brushed her shoulder.

“You started without me,” he whispered as his lips moved up her neck and his hands cupped her breasts, kneading them gently.

“I knew you would join me,” she replied, arching into his hands.

She braced her own arms against shower wall and moaned his name as he rubbed her hardening nipples between his fingers.

Smiling he drifted one hand lower and caressed her sex. His eyes drifted to the ring on her finger and his eye turned gold, she was theirs, and as soon as the mating ceremony took place everyone would know whom Chloe Sullivan belonged too.

She slumped against the shower wall, leaning her cheek against the tiles, the water still flowing over them as they allowed the sensations to wash over them. Lex lapped gently at the bite mark as he emptied himself inside her, purring softly.

“MMM,” said Chloe after a moment, “you do realise a simple ‘good morning Chloe’ would have sufficed?”

“But where’s the fun in that,” he murmured against her shoulder.

“Yeah, I guess your way does have its good points.”

Chuckling Lex stepped back, and both groaned as he slipped from her. Turning her around, he reached over and turned off the water before pulling her into his arms. “Good morning Chloe,” he grinned.

Chloe rolled her eyes and kissed his nose, “silly vampire.”

Oliver’s courier sat in his car in a little lay-by close to the main gate to the Luthor estate, tapping his hands against the steering wheel. He didn’t know what was on the disk that he had been given, but he had heard the whispers of the others, he had also heard the stories about the Luthors and he really didn’t want to get any closer to that castle or to them.

“What to do? What to do?” he muttered. He knew he had to get the disk to the Luthors, if he didn’t he shuddered to even think what Oliver would do to him. In his rear-view mirror he spotted to kids coming along on bikes, “bingo,” he said, and opening the door to his car stepped out and waved at them to stop.

Two boys, aged about fourteen, stopped their bikes, but remained at a bit of a distance from the man, and didn’t get off their bikes.

“I’m not going to hurt you, and I know you’re not supposed to talk to strangers,” he said, “but I was wondering if you would do me a favour. I need to get this,” he reached into his pocket, pulled out the small padded envelope that held the disk, and waved it at the kids, “delivered to the Luthor castle.”

“And why can’t you deliver it yourself?” one of them asked.

“My car has broken down and I’m waiting for a tow truck,” he replied, “and I don’t want to leave it here unattended. Come on boys I’ll make it worth your while.”

The two kids looked at each other, “how much?” one called out.

“$50.00”

“Each?”

“Little shits,” muttered the courier, “ok, ok $50 each.”

“Ok mister, we’ll deliver your letter.”

“Thanks boys,” he reached for his wallet and pulled out two $50 dollar bills, “and make sure when you hand it in that you say it’s to be given directly to Lionel Luthor.”

The two boys cycled closer to him, one reached out for the money and envelope while the other kept an eye on the man. When his friend had safely got both items from the man, they cycled on to the gate and went through it.

Breathing a sigh of relief the courier watched as the two boys cycled up the long driveway. As they got closer to the main door, he got back into his car and started the engine. He drove slowly passed the gate just as his two *helpers* reached the main door, and the hit the accelerator hard, speeding off into the distance, vowing to get out of the delivery business immediately.

With all their more *nocturnal* guests having left before sun set, the early afternoon found the four Luthors, Karl, Elena, Chloe and her father sitting in one of the drawing rooms discussing the party. Well everyone but Chloe and Elena were talking about the party, they were huddled together talking about Chloe’s ring.

Just as Lucas was about to tell them about what happened when he took Lana and her aunt home, a knock on the door interrupted them.

“Come in,” Lillian called out.

“Sorry to disturb you all,” said David entering the room, “but this,” holding out the envelope to Lionel, “was just delivered.”

Lionel took the envelope, turning it over in his hands, there was nothing written on it. “Who delivered it?”

“That’s the strange thing sir, it was two young boys. They said a man stopped them and asked them to deliver it, saying it was to go to Lionel Luthor. They said he gave the $50 each and that he couldn’t deliver it himself as his car had broken down and he was waiting for a tow truck.”

“Interesting,” murmured Chloe.

“And sir, when I checked the security cameras on the gate, the recorded footage did seem to corroborate the boys’ story, except that car drove off the moment they arrived at the main door. I asked the boys if they had ever seen the man before and they both said no and I believe them sir, they were just happy to have made some money.”

“Get all the details about the car from the tape David and get someone to check it out,” said Lillian.

“Already being done mistress,” he said, and then bowing slightly left the room.

“And the plot thickens,” said Chloe.

Pursing his lips Lionel opened the envelope and took the contents out. In his hand he held a DVD disk. “I have a feeling we’re not going to like what is on this,” he said. “Lex, will you do the honours please?” he handed it to his eldest son.

Lex quickly activated the entertainment unit and placed the disk in the player. Grabbing the remote control he took his seat beside Chloe and hit the play button.

A floor appeared on the screen and then the camera panned upward till it showed someone’s legs, and then it moved higher.

“Ok, it’s a man,” said Chloe, “a naked man.”

Soon the man’s face appeared.

“Dominic,” gasped Lillian and Lucas at the same time.

“So that’s the bastard who blew up the plant,” said Gabe; “glad to see someone has got him where he belongs.”

What followed then was a very graphic showing of Dominic being whipped and tortured; whoever was whipping him was still unknown as their face wasn’t shown, and dips in the sound on the disk occurred when Dominic spoke instead of screamed.

Chloe turned her head slightly, as Dominic was tortured over and over.

“Isn’t that’s Etienne what’s-his-name?” said Karl, when the French vampire appeared. “Never thought he’d take Dominic down.”

“He didn’t,” replied Lex, “but I bet he’s working for whoever did. He always did tend to pick the winning side.”

Suddenly the scene moved away from Dominic and the face of his torturer was revealed.

“Oliver,” gasped Lionel.

“How? I don’t understand,” said Lucas.

“It’s impossible,” whispered Lillian and bedlam broke among the Luthors and Karl, every one of them shouting and missing what Oliver was saying to the camera.

Gabe and Elena were shocked as they watched the Luthors having never before seen them so out of control.

“Hello, I think you should all be watching this,” shouted Chloe, her voice breaking.

Every head turned to the screen and all watched with wide-eyes as Oliver vamped out and ripped Dominic’s head from his shoulders.

“What the hell was that?” murmured Elena as Lex paused the screen at the fully vamped out Oliver.

“Dad,” said Lucas, “are you ok?”

Lionel’s eyes were riveted to the *monster* on the screen. “No I’m not ok,” he said, his eyes not moving from the screen, “in fact none of us are ok,” he lifted his eyes to look at his family, and all were shocked at what they saw, Lionel Luthor looked almost *scared*.

His gaze returned to the screen, and in a low voice that sent chills up everyone’s spine said, “We are all in very grave danger.”

Loved the update. This is very interesting. Are we finally going to see Chloe take up some self defense lessons....maybe take some blood to make her stronger. Chapter Hundred and Twenty Four – Rallying Together

“Lillian, get in contact with Sergi immediately and tell him I want him here in Smallville by this evening, when you have done that check with David, and find out who was suppose to have delivered that disk, then meet me in my study. Lucas, you and Karl tell Chloe and the others the story of Oliver. Lex, you come with me,” and after giving his instructions Lionel strode out of the room, quickly followed by Lex and completely ignoring his wife calling after him.

Lillian took a deep unneeded breath and closed her eyes for a moment to gather herself, “Lucas you heard your father,” she said, as then swept out of the room.

“Would someone like to tell us what is going on?” asked Gabe, “Lucas, Karl?”

Sighing Lucas walked over and switched off the television and then fixed himself a large drink, which he knocked back in one go. “Take a seat all of you,” he said, “this could take a while.”

“Thank you Sergi,” said Lillian, “yes as soon as possible. No he just asked for you for the moment, but I’m sure others will be summoned. I don’t know exactly what is going on just yet, but it’s big and it has Lionel rattled.”

Lillian hung up the phone, she hadn’t been able to *contact* Sergi by their own methods, she just couldn’t settle her mind to do so. She had never seen Lionel like that before and it worried her.

‘Be calm love,’ Lionel’s voice sounded in her head, ‘I need your strength, remember who you are.’

“Yes,” she murmured, “it will set a bad example for the others if I am not in control.” Schooling her features to that of the Luthor matriarch Lillian headed to the security room to find out about the driver.

Lex had been asking over and over again why he said they were in grave danger, but Lionel kept his silence, instead focussing on his wife and making sure she was calmed down.

“We need to get you and Chloe mated as soon as possible,” said Lionel, the moment they entered his study.

Lex was surprised by his father’s choice of topic, considering what they had just seen. “Not that I’m upset by that idea dad, but why?” asked Lex. “Aren’t there more important things we should be worrying about at the moment. Also won’t Chloe and I becoming mates put here in more danger, everyone in our world will know who exactly she is when we bond.”

“I know that son, but it will also be the best way to protect her. I still believe that she will be targeted by Oliver as part of his plans, and if you and she are fully mated, your bond will be strong, and she will be able to draw from you, thus helping her.”

Lex could see the sense in his father’s words, and his demon was very much behind the idea. “But dad, I am going to be of no use to you for about a week after the ceremony, Chloe and I will be otherwise engaged.”

Despite what was going on Lionel chuckled softly at Lex’s words, he knew *exactly* what activities they would be engaged in.

“We can survive a week without the two of you, and besides there will be moments when poor Chloe will need to recoup her strength and I can find ways for you to work off some of your excess energy,” replied Lionel.

Lex nodded, “I will talk to Chloe and we will arrange a date.”

“You will talk to her when we have finished here, and you will tell her everything, including the reasons behind speeding this up, she will understand. That girl has a great strength in her, I am very proud that she is going to be part of the family. Also organising the ceremony will give your mother something to focus on,” he finished with a small smile.

“Yes sir,” said Lex. “Are you going to tell me now what is going on?”

“Not yet son, I need Sergi here first. When he arrives I will explain everything to everyone.

“It’s bad isn’t it?”

“Yes son it is, but we are Luthors, and we *will* be victorious.”

“Hang on, hang on,” said Gabe, holding his hand up, “let me see if I have got this. Dominic, whose death we just saw in glorious Technicolor, has been trying to destroy you for decades, Oliver was some human he knew and had worked with before. Dominic brought Oliver on board to help him against you, and it was he who planned and executed the explosion at the plant.”

“Right so far,” said Lucas.

“Thinking he was now number one vamp, Dominic turned Oliver into a vampire as well. Shortly after this you all discovered that Helen, Lex’s human girlfriend, was actually seeing Dominic on the side, and Lillian took care of her, and I’m assuming this taking care of resulted in the lovely Miss Bryce being no more. Dominic then came up with the idea to capture you Lucas, and deciding you weren’t really worth *his* effort, he went off and left everything to Oliver. You all found out about this via Karl, who was working as a double agent and when the trap to catch you was sprung you turned it around and captured Oliver instead.”

“Again you’re right.”

“Ok, so Oliver is tortured and killed, this time permanently and the pile of dust that remained was sent to back to Dominic. He lost the plot for a while and disappeared to Europe… Life went on and Dominic came back, and we’ve just sat through his torture and death at the hands of a vampire that you and the others did the exact same thing too. Now correct me if I’m wrong, but when a vampire is killed, that’s it, once turned to a pile of dust there is no coming back.”

Lucas and Karl nodded.

“Then what the hell did we just see? And why the hell did he look like... like…” Gabe trailed off.

“An uber-vampire,” offered Chloe.

“Yes, what Chloe says,” said Gabe, shooting her a ‘what the hell does uber-vampire mean?’ look, which she just grinned at.

“Those are the questions we don’t have answer too Gabe,” sighed Lucas. “It’s impossible for that to be Oliver, I watched him turn to dust, hell I helped turn him to dust. And as for what that demon was I have no idea, I have never seen anything like that in my life.”

“Judging by the look on your dad’s face, I’d say he has seen one before,” said Chloe.

“I noticed that too,” said Elena, “Madre dios, that thing looked scary.” Karl reached out and took her hand, squeezing it gently.

“Are you ok dad?” asked Chloe, her voice full of concern, “you’re looking a little pale.”

“I’m fine sweetie; I’m just trying to get my head around everything, and as usual it’s not co-operating.”

“We should just sit tight till my parents get back,” said Lucas, “dad will have a plan to handle this.”

After getting some quality pictures of the driver from the security cameras Lillian dispatched people to find him. She instructed David to keep her updated of any progress they made.

She quickly made her way to Lionel’s study, where Lex was just leaving. He smiled at her and pulled her into a hug, “its ok mom, he’s waiting for you. We’ll all talk later, when Sergi gets here.”

Lillian kissed his cheek and entered the study, closing the door behind her.

Lionel smiled at his wife and she rushed into his arms. “Hush love,” he murmured as he held her tight, “everything will be fine.”

“How is it possible Lionel? How is that Oliver?”

“I don’t know that yet, but I’ve been in contact with Byron, and he is on his way. Seeing Etienne in the video got me thinking that some spell or archaic ceremony may be at work here, after all Dominic’s mother was a witch, and Etienne’s great passion other than torture is the supernatural.”

“If that is the case, then Byron will be a great help with that,” said Lillian.

“He will be here tomorrow evening, I have also put calls into the *five*, there’s no need to cause widespread panic just yet, not until we know more, that’s why only those have been called. There is one other thing, I have told Lex that he and Chloe need to have their bonding ceremony as soon as possible, in fact Lex had gone to talk to her now about it.”

“But...”

“It’s for the best Lillian, she can be protected better if they are mated. And don’t worry you’ll still get to organise it,” he added with a small smirk.

Lillian sighed and once again relaxed in his embrace. Yes there was wisdom in his plan, but honestly did he really think that a full mating ceremony could be organised in a matter of weeks. Proper ceremonies took months.

Lionel smiled into his wife’s hair, he knew she was thinking about the ceremony, and no doubt cursing him for giving her such short notice, but his objective had been achieved, she was no longer worried. As he had predicated her energies would be directed to the ceremony.

“What’s going on Lex?” asked Chloe as he led her up the stairs and towards the east wing of the house.

He said nothing, just continued till he had entered a bedroom. He closed the door and led her over to a small couch that was in the corner of the room.

“Lex, I don’t think we have time for sex, considering what’s going on,” she joked.

“There is always time for sex Chloe, but that is not why I brought you here, but now that you mention it…” he trailed off with a smirk, as Chloe gently punched his shoulder.

He took her hands in his, and ran his thumb gently over the ring his gave her. “My father wants us to be mated as soon as possible.”

“Why?”

“We…*I* can protect you better if we complete the bond. And while yes this will increase your profile in our world, the bond will also give you strength; you can draw on me to help you. It was going to happen anyway, the mating,” he said, cupping her cheek, “this just means bringing it forward. This is big, this thing with Oliver back, it has my dad rattled and that is not a good thing, I have never seen my dad rattled. I know this is all very sudden, seeing as we only just got, engaged, but I really would like nothing more than to complete the ceremony. I would have been quite happy to do it the moment you told me you were ready to take that step.”

“Lillian won’t be happy, she was telling me how the perfect ceremony would take months to organise,” joked Chloe, although her voice held a hint of nervousness.

“Tell me Chloe, tell me what you think?”

“Truthfully Lex, I’m scared, scared of everything that is happening, scared of this danger that has now appeared; scared of bonding myself to a master vampire, even if I do love him to bits.”

“Chloe if you aren’t ready, we won’t go ahead with it, I am willing to wait.”

“But your dad…”

“But my dad nothing,” he interrupted, “this is about you and I and *our* mating ceremony. This is a huge thing, for both of us, and there is no point going ahead with it if…”

He didn’t get a chance to finish as Chloe launched herself at him and kissed him. Lex immediately gave into the kiss, pulling her onto his lap.

“Silly vampire,” she said when they parted, “of course I’m ready, I’m just scared.”

“So am I love,” he admitted, “does this mean we’re going ahead with it?”

“As soon as Lillian can get it organised Lex, we’ll complete the bond.”

A huge smile broke out on his face, and Chloe’s heart fluttered at the sight, she knew she had made the right decision.

“Love you,” he murmured against her lips, and captured her response with a kiss that took her breath away.

Dusk had just settled when Sergi arrived at the Luthor castle. Without stopping to greet anyone he made his way immediately to Lionel’s office. The disk had been taken to Lionel and was waiting for Sergi to view it.

Everyone else was seated in the drawing room where they had watched the video, and Lex and Chloe had just made their announcement. They had explained why it was being brought forward, and despite that they both wanted to go ahead with the ceremony.

Gabe got very emotional and hugged Chloe tightly for about ten minutes while he got himself under control. When he finally released her, he pulled Lex into hug while Lillian hugged Chloe.

“You and I will talk tomorrow,” Lillian whispered to her, “we will go over the ceremony and I will answer any questions you may have.”

“Thank you,” Chloe replied, hugging the older woman.

Elena, Karl and finally Lucas congratulated the pair, and the scenes they had watched earlier were forgotten for a moment as everyone basked in Lex and Chloe’s news.

But the good mood didn’t last long as Lionel and Sergi entered the room.

Lionel broke his solemn look with a smile as he shook his son’s hand in congratulations and then embraced Chloe warmly, kissing her forehead. “I am very happy for both of you.”

Sergi conveyed his congratulations, promising to tell the rest of his family as soon as this conversation was over.

Everyone took their seats, and waited for Lionel to speak.

I just wanted to tell you that you successfully stoped this college student from doing any work over the last two days. I had been putting of reading the story untill I felt like reading an 'undead' story, and this definatly did that and so much more.

I can't wait to see what Lionel thinks Oliver is, and the ceremony and all that stuff.

P.S. I may have missed it but before you said that you had plans for Lucas did they change with the plot shift?? Just wondering if we might get to see him make an ass of himself, well actually he's already done that lots of times hasn't he.

Chapter Hundred and Twenty Five – Lionel’s Tale

“First let me start by saying I have no answers or theories as to why Oliver is back,” said Lionel. “As you have been told, we killed him, the last time I saw him he was a pile of dust being sent back to Dominic. The only idea to his return that I have is that magic of some sort is involved. Dominic’s mother was a witch, and a good one at that, and had spent her years and Dominic’s father’s money scouring the world for ancient and arcane spells and ceremonies. I have called Byron and asked him to come here, if a spell was used, he will find it.”

“Byron is a rather eccentric professor we met in London fifty years ago,” said Lillian, “back then he was a headstrong very open-mined young man when we met him, and he was completely unaffected when we revealed what we were. You kind of remind me of him Chloe. Now he’s an *old* headstrong, stubborn opinionated very open-minded man.”

“Still sounds like Chloe,” teased Gabe, earning a mock-glare from his daughter.

“He will be here tomorrow, Lucas make sure he has everything he needs,” said Lionel, “and Karl, Elena I want to two of you at his disposal.”

“I will dad,” replied Lucas.

“Of course sire,” replied Karl and Elena at the same time.

“Lionel, please, tell us about what we saw Oliver turn into. I knew by the look on your face when it appeared that you had seen something like it before.”

“Smart girl Chloe,” he said with a small smile.

Lionel glanced briefly at Sergi and then at his wife. Taking a deep breath he began his story…

“Just over seven hundred years ago our world was in disarray. I was barely fifty, but I knew I had to do something. The wars had to stop; a leader was needed. My father wouldn’t listen, told me I was too young that I didn’t understand. Oh I understood, I knew that he was the problem, he and some of the others, the heads of the most powerful families. So I took matters into my own hands, I gathered Sergi, Marcus DeToit, and five others. The eight of us represented the eldest children of the most powerful families, families that were at war with each other, tearing our world apart. We launched an attack against our fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters, it was a bloody and ferocious battle that lasted almost two years, but eventually we were victorious. But our victory was not without its causalities, Sergi and I ended up having to kill our own fathers, and the others had lost close family members as well. I demanded the surrender of those few remaining insurgents, and with their submission the war ended. Oh everything wasn’t all rosy afterwards, it took another fifty years for things to calm down.”

“A lot of our kind couldn’t quite grasp the idea of someone so young defeating the elders,” said Sergi, “and while they were happy the fighting had stopped they weren’t so happy with the idea of a *child*, as they called Lionel being the one who should lead them.”

“What did they do?” asked Chloe, completely engrossed in the tale.

“Let’s just say Lionel’s un-life was in great danger, well all our lives were in danger,” replied Sergi with a small smile. “Here was this little upstart, upsetting thousands of years of strict vampire code. He may have ended the war but there was no way he was going to survive.”

“Ungrateful bastards,” muttered Gabe, earning a smile from Lionel.

“Just before I met Lillian for the first time, and my life became no longer my own,” said Lionel.

“Hey,” called out Lillian, glaring at him.

“As I was saying, before I met Lillian, Sergi, Marcus and I headed to Egypt. There was a story, a myth more like it about an ancient vampire, said to be one of the very first of us and that it still existed there. It was also said that if you could face this demon it would grant you a single wish.”

“Of course we were sceptic,” continued Sergi, “but it was getting harder and harder for us to survive, we needed something that would bring the others in line, so we were willing to try anything. Marcus gathered all the information he could get on this ancient vampire, and then the three of us set off.”

“Was your family part of this Lillian?” Gabe asked her.

“My father was happy that the war was over, but like many others had reservations about Lionel taking over, but he never wanted him destroyed,” replied Lillian. “I would hear him in meetings with other elders, and he was one of the very few that spoke up for Lionel.”

“Nice that your future father-in-law thought so highly of you,” joked Gabe, shooting a pointed look at Lex, who grinned back.

“So we travelled to Egypt, making our way from ship to ship,” continued Lionel, “making sure to keep out of sight of our own kind. We arrived in Cairo and laid low for a few days before making the journey down the Nile to Thebes.”

“Once there we were travelling blind again, all the information Marcus had gathered brought us to Thebes, but didn’t say were we went from there,” said Sergi. “We spent about a week there, trying to find someone or thing to help us.”

“We started being more bold and open in our quest for answers, we let it be known what we were, and that we eliminate the entire village if we didn’t start getting some answers,” said Lionel. “Extreme I know, but we needed answers and I was really start to lose my patience. Then we finally got cut a break, this old woman approached us one evening and told us that there were whispers of a monster spotted around the ruins of the temple on the outskirts of the village. That people were afraid to go out there, and those foolish enough to stray were never seen again.”

“That very evening the three of us headed out there. We felt it almost immediately,” said Sergi, his tone wistful.

“Felt what?” asked Elena, leaning forward in her seat.

“Power,” sighed Lionel, “pure power, tainted slightly with a thread of evil. It was intoxicating, my demon was screaming to be let out. We all lost control, vamping out and unable to shift back to our human faces.”

“It was like our demons were being called,” continued Sergi, “and we were helpless to fight it, and could do nothing as our demons led us towards the source of the power. The feeling was equal parts amazing and frightening.”

“We were led to the back of the ruins to a small cave. The *calling* was getting stronger as we entered it. We continued deeper inside for about a mile when a voice sounded out, telling us to stop. All three of us stood there, slightly illuminated by the lit torches scattered around the cave…waiting…”

IN THE CAVE:

‘Luthor, Romanov and DeToit, three powerful bloodlines,’ the voice said, ‘I have been expecting you. Tales of your exploits are well on their way to becoming legends.’

‘Who are you?’ Marcus called out.

‘What are you?” said Sergi.

A low rumbling laugh sounded around them, and the cave shook, shards of rock and dust falling down onto them.

Marcus grabbed Lionel’s arm and pointed towards a large black shape moving in the shadows.

It was the enormous wings that they saw first, wrapped around a body that seemed about seven foot tall, large horns protruded from a high forehead and red eyes glowed at them. No other part of the face or body was visible due to the wings, except for a portion of thick muscular calves, topped with cloven feet.

“Satan,” whispered Marcus.

The demon chuckled, causing the cave to shake more, “I am not Satan Mr DeToit,” he said, his voice low and deep. A loud rustling sound followed his words as his wings fell away from his body and folded behind him. The demon smiled at them, revealing long sharp fangs, glistening with blood.

“The legends are true,” whispered Lionel gazing in awe at the demon.

His red gaze fell on Lionel, “young Luthor, I knew your great grandfather, a wonderful vampire, as vicious as he was brilliant… my reports about you say the exact same thing. A mere child and yet you ended the war, along with your companions… but what brings you here?”

Despite staring at a very ancient and undoubtedly powerful demon Lionel couldn’t help but roll his eyes at the question. “If you don’t know the answer to that question,” he said, “my fiends and I will be leaving now.”

“Most definitely like your ancestor,” said the demon, moving closer to the three young vampires till he stood over them.

All three looked up at him, still wearing their vampire faces, gold eyes met red and a wry smile appeared on the ancient’s face. “Your lives are in danger,” he said, “you are being hunted by your own kind, they don’t want to answer to someone so young, they fear you will change all the old ways.”

“I have no intention of changing *all* the old ways,” said Lionel, “only some of them. We cannot allow another war like this one; we may never survive another one. The process of selecting leaders must change; we have to stop killing each other to lead. I had to kill my own father in this war, and that was only after he had destroyed my sister, his own daughter. Sergi, Marcus, and others, like me, had to destroy family members. We have always been told that family is the most important thing in our world, without them behind you, you are nothing, and yet here we are destroying our own blood in order to succeed, it *has* to stop.”

“Well said young Luthor,” replied the demon, his wings rustling as if in applause. “And what do you expect me to do?”

“Help me show them that I’m not looking to be some kind of supreme leader, I just want to help settle our world.”

The ancient demon remained quiet as he stared at Lionel; his red eyes glowed as they studied him. Lionel fought against the urge to flinch and look away from the penetrating gaze; he stood his ground. If the demon were to kill him instead of helping him then Lionel wouldn’t back down, he would face his demise with his head high.

Quicker than any of them could comprehend the demon shot out both his hands and grasped Lionel’s head. He lifted the younger vampire off the ground till they were head to head. Marcus and Sergi found themselves unable to move and help their friend.

Glowing red eyes met defiant gold. Suddenly Lionel gasped as his mind was filled with visions of places and people he had never seen. A low throbbing pain in the base of his skull increased as the images flitted behind his eyes faster and faster. And then there was a flash of blinding white light and the demon dropped Lionel. He fell to the ground clutching his aching head as his human face slipped back into place. Marcus and Sergi hurried to their fallen friend and helped him to his feet; their own human faces appearing.

The demon smirked at them as Lionel shook his head to clear the fog that had settled in it. “What…what just happened?”

“You have a great future ahead of you young Luthor, I have never seen one like it before,” he said, “but tread cautiously others will seek to take everything from you, trust in the mate you will soon meet.”

“So you will help then?”

Reaching up a clawed hand and with a roar the demon snapped one of the horns from his forehead. He held it out towards Lionel as black blood trickled from where it once was.

Lionel stepped forward on shaky legs and grabbed the offering. “Be careful young Luthor,” whispered the demon, as he still held onto his end, “one which you kill will return, return with the powers and look of an ancient, a demon from the very depths of hell. I see your ending and the ending of your entire family at his hands if you are not careful. Be strong and brave and trust your family.”

He let go of the horn and Lionel staggered back, clutching it tightly.

“Be gone young vampires,” he said, his voice fading, as he seemed to sink back into the shadows.

The three shared a look and quickly exited the cave, the other two helping Lionel who held tightly onto the horn…

BACK TO THE PRESENT:

“Wow,” gasped Chloe as Lionel finished his tale.

“The horn was proof that Lionel would be the one to lead us,” said Sergi, “and that’s what he did.”

“And the ancient demon’s prophecy seems to have come true,” said Gabe, “Oliver has come back, looking like he did.”

“These will be very difficult times,” said Lionel, “Oliver will be a formidable opponent, especially with the powers he know possesses… The ancient told me back then to trust my family, all my family,” he gaze fell on Karl and Elena and then Sergi, “and that’s what I intend to do…”

I loved reading the history and I can understand now why Lionel got so freaked out when he saw Oliver. It's like watching a prophecy come true right before your eyes. I've finally once again caught up with everyone. It was so great to read some action. I had hoped that when Lex showed Chloe her surprise that they would have walked into the wrong party and into Oliver's.

The building anticipation is awesome, I'm running scenes in my head as to what can happen and I'm getting giddy. I loved the backstory of Lionel and his friends meeting a ominous figure bearing such heavy news. I enjoyed the details of Dominics as gruesome as it was I liked the picture you painted especially Oliver's unveiling.

I was glad Chloe got to know about Clark in this story. To see their friendship at least once be able to rise above it all.

This story just goes from strenght to strength and just when I seem to hit a wall in this story yougive me something else to grasp onto and run with. I absolutely love this story and I am so glad that you found this storyline and went with it.

Chapter Hundred and Twenty Six – Let it Begin


Etienne watched wide-eyed and visibly aroused as Oliver literally ripped apart the four *unfortunate* souls that strayed into the abandoned warehouse they had just obtained.

“Magnificent,” murmured Etienne, as Oliver stuck his hand into the man’s chest and pulled his heart out. He held the still beating organ in front of his face and squeezed it, blood spurting over his hand and face.

The French vampire moved from his vantage point and crossed the warehouse floor, skipping past various body parts till he reached Oliver. Grabbing his hand he slowly licked the blood from it, smiling as Oliver’s eyes glowed red.

It had been a week since their little gift to Lionel and so far there had been no response from the elder Luthor. Not that this surprised Oliver; Lionel was not one for rash decisions or strikes. He would gather as much information as he could, try to find his weaknesses and see if he could *persuade* any of Oliver’s staff to part with that information. The latter he was unconcerned about as the various humans, demons and vampires that worked for him were far more terrified of what he could do than anything Lionel Luthor could do.

He watched through half closed eyes as his lover licked up the last drops of blood. As fun as Etienne was, Oliver had the urge for a woman tonight, it had been a long time since he had sex with a woman. Actually a nice little threesome sounded just the ticket after such a gruesome kill.

“Etienne, let’s sate another hunger,” he said, grabbing his hand, “I’m thinking something in a small blonde.”

“Delicious,” purred Etienne, both of them having a *fondness* for blondes.

Grinning, Oliver looked down at the remains scattered over the floor. Grabbing Etienne’s hand the pair left the warehouse and headed out into the night.

Lionel let out an uncharacteristic sigh and ran a hand through his hair. So far nothing had come up. They had managed to track down the courier of the disk, but Lucas and Karl’s vast repertoire of persuasive techniques yielded nothing more than considerable pain for the unfortunate man.

Lionel knew it was fear of what Oliver could do that had induced this silence, and that disturbed him. Lionel was very much aware that fear of him was the only reason a portion of the demonic world followed his rule and if other vampires and demons where more scared of Oliver than him, and that could be damaging.

Bryon was working non-stop on finding what was used to bring Oliver back. “It is definitely a spell, an ancient spell at that, probably Egyptian,” where the professor’s first words after Lex had explained everything to him. Soon after that he took the disk, went to the main library, plugged in his lapped and got straight to work. While Lucas and the others had been told to get him whatever he needed, Bryon found a very willing researcher in Gabe, the older man taking an instant liking to Chloe’s dad.

A light knock on the door to his office stirred him from his thoughts. “Come in Chloe,” he called out as soon as he recognised her scent.

The door opened and she poked her head inside, “am I interrupting?”

“Not at all,” he smiled.

Smiling back at him Chloe entered the room, shutting the door behind her.

“Now, what can I do for you?”

“I’ve been thinking Lionel,” she began, “and I was wondering if it might be a good idea to… well bring Clark into all this.”

“And why would you think this?” he asked, leaning back in his chair.

“Clark’s an alien, and is capable of great power,” she said, “and I think he could be an asset to us.”

Lionel couldn’t help but grin at the ‘us’ comment and he could see logic in her thinking. “While I do agree that he would be an asset…”

“You don’t think we should include him,” finished Chloe.

“Not yet Chloe. I would rather not involve anyone outside of the family at this point,” said Lionel. “As it is, he knows nothing of our world, and to drop that on him and then ask for his help might not be the best thing to do. But I do appreciate the fact that you are giving thought to the situation and to possible solutions and if the time comes to ask for his help you will be the one who will approach him. I knew you would be an asset to our family. And how are the plans for the mating ceremony coming along?”

“No offence Lionel, but your wife is insane,” replied Chloe, earning a laugh from him. “I mean it; she is like a woman possessed. I’ve decided to just stand back and let her do what she likes; I made the mistake of questioning one of her choices, and let’s just say it wasn’t pretty.”

Lionel laughed again, “Oh Chloe, organising things like this is what Lillian does best. Now I love my wife more than anything but I do agree with you, she does get possessed when planning. Anyway this is the mating ceremony of our eldest child, and despite the circumstances that it is being held under, I think she is entitled to go completely overboard with it.”

“And I have no problem with that,” grinned Chloe, “but does she have to be so scary about it?”

“Yes she does,” smiled Lionel, he got up from his chair and walked around the desk to Chloe. “Thank you for cheering me up my dear,” he said and kissed her forehead gently.

“Glad to be of help,” she replied, smiling up at him.

“Very interesting,” murmured Bryon as he read the passage, “This needs to go into the ‘not any use to the subject at hand but is definitely worth checking up on at a later date’ pile.”

Gabe turned his attention from his computer where he was searching the net for some obscure Egyptian word he had been asked to find and laughed softly as he listened to the old man muttering to himself. He found the professor fascinating; nothing seemed to faze him. He spoke about his history with the Luthors as they worked, and Gabe could detect the very real affection and respect that he had for the entire Luthor family.

“So how do you feel about your daughter being Lex’s mate?” he asked suddenly.

Gabe was taken aback slightly. In all the time he had been here Bryon had barely asked any questions about Gabe’s life, choosing instead to focus on the task at hand or answer any questions he may have asked about his life. So this question came completely out of the blue.

Bryon allowed himself a small smile as he looked up from his reference book to see the stunned expression on Gabe’s face. Quickly he looked back at the text when Gabe seemed to snap out of it.

“Well,” he began, “Chloe is the most important thing in the world to me, and more than anything I want her to be happy. And anyone can see that Lex makes her happy. I’d be a liar if I said I’m not worried about everything, I mean Lex is a vampire, a demon, something that is believed to be a myth, and my daughter is going to be bonded to this demon for, eternity. Hell, she’s going to become a vampire herself one day. To be completely honest with you Bryon I am scared shitless about the whole thing, but Lex loves her, and she loves him and there is no way he would let anything happen to her… and that’s really all any father can ask for in the *man* that’s going to take his baby girl away from her dad.”

“I think the Luthors are very fortunate to have come across you and your daughter Gabe,” said Bryon, “just as you two as lucky to have met them. They really are an incredible family and they will protect those that are dear to them.”

Gabe was about to answer when a ‘ping’ from his computer signalled that it had found something. Turning his attention to the screen he quickly scanned the information on it… “Uhm Bryon, you may want to look at this,” he said.

Bryon quickly got up and peered over Gabe’s shoulder, reading. “Fascinating,” he said. With his eyes still on the screen, he pointed over to the large pile of books in the corner, “Gabe, rummage through those, there should be a book entitled, ‘Ceremonies of Osiris’, can you fetch it for me please?”

Gabe quickly got up and headed to the pile of books, rifling through them he searched for the book in question as Bryon continued to read the information the computer had thrown up.

“Got it,” said Gabe, crossing the room to the professor and handing him the book.

“Oh thank you,” he replied, “Can you print the rest of this off please while I check something?”

The next twenty minutes was a flurry of activity in the library. Gabe printed off page upon page from the Internet while Bryon searched his book and then referenced his findings with other books, all the while muttering, ‘unbelievable’ and ‘fascinating’ at regular intervals.

“Sweet Mother of the Divine,” he cried out, almost causing Gabe to drop the *organised* pages he had taken from the printer.

“What? What is it Bryon?”

Bryon lifted his head from the book “get Lionel!”

“There’s something here. I think it’s a cave,” the young trainee archaeologist shone his torch over the entrance, “yes it’s a cave.”

“Well spotted young Dan,” said the older man behind him. “Can we enter it?”

“It might be a bit of a tight squeeze, but yes we can enter it.”

Dr Vincent Crowe smiled at the excitement in his student’s voice. This trip was originally intended to have been a fact-finding mission to see if it was worth getting together a full team for a dig. However when they arrived in Thebes, Dan’s belief that they would find something turned the trip into more. Two days ago they set off towards this desert area, and it looked like their efforts had paid off.

This area was believed too have been bled dry of anything of value. Centuries of pillaging and digs had emptied the land of its treasures. But this cave was a bonus, they was no mention of it in any of the maps.

“Give me your hand doctor, you’ll need help getting in.”

Grasping the younger man’s hand, Vincent allowed himself to be pulled through the debris and into the cave. He brushed the dust and sand from his clothes and then switched on his own torch, running the beam over the walls.

He gasped softly as the one hieroglyph was repeated over and over, covering the entire wall.

“What does it mean?” asked Dan, shining his own torch over the ceiling, where the same hieroglyph was carved into the rock.

“Danger,” said Vincent, “it means danger. And by the looks of it, some of these carvings are more recent than others.”

They moved slowly along, deeper into the cave, encountering the warning all along the way.

“This place is creepy,” muttered Dan. “What was that?” he swung around, shining his torch in the direction he heard something.

“Probably the wind,” said Vincent, “relax.”

“Sounded more like a growl,” murmured Dan, but continued to follow the doctor.

Deeper they went till they found themselves in a small clearing. They stood in the middle and ran their torches over the walls and ceiling, once again the hieroglyph for danger was everywhere.

“What do you think this place is?”

“I have no idea Dan. Could be a chamber used for ceremonies. But this hieroglyph has me confused. Some seem carved, others are painted, and even without proper equipment I can clearly tell that some are very, *very* old and others maybe only a hundred years old.”

A low rumbling sound echoed through the ‘room’.

“Told you I heard something,” said Dan, frantically looking around.

The rumble became more like a growl and suddenly about a dozen fires ignited, lightening up the whole area.

“I think we should get out of here doctor,” said Vincent, grabbing the young man’s arm.

“Only three ever walked out of here,” a voice sounded, “and two still *live*.”

“Oh fuck,” said Dan as the *voice* came out of the shadows.

“Oh my God,” gasped Vincent.

“Your God won’t save you,” and in the blink of an eye the doctor and his young protégé were no more, their bodies consumed.

“So another has risen, and young Luthor has reached the crossroads. Well now, let it begin,” the demon chuckled as it sank back into its shadows.

“Let it begin,” echoed through the cave.

Wow, I was so excited to see an update! Just loving this fic, but the whole 'looking for a small blonde' and 'both had a fondness for blondes' has me worried for Chloe. Although, if they didn't go straight to the raping, and she had time to actually talk to them, I think they'd develop a fondness for our Chloe! More please!?!

Wow, that was a great update. I was so involved reading it that I started reading starmoon's feedback before I realized the story had stopped. Seems as though what Bryon as found is not good. I like Gabe in this story so much too, like him as Bryon's assistant. Glad he supports Chloe. Omg, Chloe- Etienne & Oliver are in the mood for a blonde! I hope this mating ceremony happens quickly before they get anywhere near Chloe. RIP poor Vincent & Dan- they never knew what hit them.

*squee!* An Update!!!! *happy dance* .... *long pause* ... Foul! I call foul!!

This update, while entirely amazing and tons-o-fun, was entirely too short. TOO SHORT!

Chloe was adorable, Gabe and Bryan I just want to hug, Lionel was cool, Oliver and Etienne appropriately awful, and The Demon mysteriously all-knowing, so thank you for that. BUT THE DAMN THING WAS TOO SHORT! Where were Lex and Lucas? Where was that sharp and snappy conversations? Where was the SMUT? Ok, so not every chapter needs smut, I'll give you that. And this one would have been very inappropriate with it. But other than the fact that Bryan found 'something' we didn't really get much advancement. :(

I think, as a rabid fanfic fiend of this story who waits anxiously for each and every update, that the next one should be long, drawn out, and full of plot advancement. So long and so full of advancement that it will take me a good half hour to read (I read fast) and all week to process. :D :D :D ;)

Of course, I'll be honest, I am never happy when the chapter is done b/c I just can't get enough of this story, and this is a blatant attempt to get a huge chappie. I'm not shy. :D Is it working?

Ok so due to the remains of jetlag this review isn't going to be top notch but I just had to say something. I mean seriously here I am catching up on this wonderful fic after being away and then the last chapters go to Egypt! Egypt where I just got back from! I was like Cairo... I was there the day before yesterday! Thebes... I was there last week (though it is now called Luxor)!

Sorry 'bout the gushing it's just exciting to find something unexpected like that. As always this fic continues to be intriguing and well written. I can't wait to see what's going to happen!!! I'm also on tenterhooks about this new Egyptian demon dude.
